Just opened up several months ago, Went to Rollin' Rolls cafe to try their Vietnamese coffee and Banh mi. Love eating a quick bite in town, when I have to run errands. They just started phone orders as well. Very modern and straight-forward approach to a coffee shop. I would definitely recommend the Breakfast combo, it definitely saves a bit of money! Just give them a few minutes to get your order ready, due to the high-volume of customers coming in & out of their coffee shop. I got the Special Banh Mi and the Strawberry Lemon Tea. This is a convenient location in walking distance of my office so me and my coworkers came for lunch. They have lots of tables and chairs to dine in too. The menu is quite diverse but it was their Special Dry Noodles that caught our attention! Generous portion of rice noodles and veggies, you can order this with shrimp or roast pork. I wanted to try out this place since hearing about it a couple of months ago. I ordered their special rolls with the spring roll wrapped in the summer roll. It was a cleaver idea. The spring roll was still warm in the middle. The wrapper of the summer roll wasn't chewy. It had the perfect amount of lettuce and vermicelli ratio. I also liked the sauce even though I think it tasted mostly like a sweet chili sauce. The coffee with ube foam was kind of a disappointment though. The coffee was good. Strong Vietnamese coffee. But for for the foam, it was a little flat. It wasn't fluffy and didn't have much taste. It also had a slightly gritty consistency. Wow no kidding this might be my favorite Banh mi I've tasted so far, even better than what I had in Westminster California. Tasted better than the OG Lee's sandwiches in mainland. That says a lot. I think the reason why it tasted so good was because everything was well balanced, and done well, so when combined, the whole Banh mi just tasted amazing. Their pickled vegetables were crunchy with the perfect balance of tang and sweetness. The bread was fresh and crunchy without cutting my gums. They put plenty of meat with the right ratio of meat and tendons (or the jelly part of the meat), and most of all, the sandwich was not dry because they put enough butter/mayo in the Banh mi. Oh yeah their shrimp summer rolls were good too. I like how they took the effort to put crispies in there. It made the whole roll taste much better with another dimension. It's a big statement to say it's the best Banh mi I've ever had but I honestly can't recall one that tasted better than this. I do appreciate when chefs take the extra step to make their food stand out. It's rare. I can't wait to go back. Definitely one of my regular lunch spots now! If you like Vietnamese food you should check this place out. There's been a lot of pho and banh mi places popping up lately. This is one of the better ones. It's located at Kakaako, next to Mad Pie and Down to Earth. The place isn't big. It has about six tables, but people come in and out for take out. I got the Saigon Breakfast Combo $18. It's your choice of banh mi and a coffee. I got the specialty coffee, so it was $1 more. I got the Special Banh Mi. It came with mayo and two types of pork. I asked for no pate. I don't care for the gamey taste. I chose the iced salted foam coffee for my drink. My hubby got the lemongrass chicken banh mi $12.75. I appreciate that they label their banh mi sandwich wrappers, so we know which is which. Their banh mis are the regular size and not the tiny ones so many places are serving these days. Their roasted pork doesn't have the crispy skin. It's just the tender and juicy meat. Along with the roasted pork they include the steamed pork (cha lua). Cha is my favorite. I used to buy the whole roll of cha and just eat it plain. Their banh mi sandwiches are excellent. I just wish that they gave more protein. The salted foam coffee was also very good. New favorite Bahn Mi shop! I found this place by accident when my prior favorite was closed unexpectedly. So I rolled on over to Kakaako and enjoyed some baguette filled goodness. I had the lemongrass chicken and the BBQ pork Bahn Mi sandwiches. They are very generous with the portions, which I appreciate being of the larger than average variety in both width and personality. This cafe makes Bahn Mi just how it should be,with bread that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, good portions of meat, pickled veggies, and cilantro. Nestled behind Down to Earth in Kakaako at the "Keauhou Lane" of small shops sits this little Vietnamese restaurant. Much like the other restaurants along the lane, this place is small. With only about 4 or 5 tiny square tables (most had 2 chairs...i guess you could squeeze 4 on there, but itd be super tight) and a complimentary water station (water looked to be room temp as there was no visible chiller) before you hit the counter to order. Went over my (late as usual) lunch break and was surprised to find it completely packed inside. Thankfully right after I ordered, someone finished up and left so I was able to snag a seat. Ordered the spring roll vermicelli plate ($16.75) that consists of 2(!) chopped up spring rolls on a bed of cold vermicelli noodles along with some lettuce and cucumber(i guess that's the salad?) and some pickled vegetables (carrot and radish if im not mistaken...ya know the usual things that come with spring rolls). The plate comes with a side of fish sauce as well as a small container of chili sauce for dipping...or pouring...or drinking (hey, i don't judge. You do you) The spring rolls were good. Slightly warm, but moreso on the colder side, so i suspect they had been sitting out a while. Still the wrapper was crispy and the fillings were tasty. The vermicelli was...well, cold vermicelli. Kinda hard to screw that up and the vegetables were super fresh and crisp. All in all it was good, just....way overpriced imo for cheap noodles, veggies and literally 2 spring rolls. Honestly think it shouldn't be anymore than $12 for this plate, but what do I know? I just like to eat. I had also ordered a Thai Tea ($6.50). My screw up was waiting until I was done and out of there before taking my first sip (didn't wanna fill myself up on thai tea before eating!). This is the first and only thai tea that ive ever had in my life that i disliked. Wait, not even disliked, downright hated. To start tho, it looked delicious as it was a nice bright orange and had just the right amount of ice to where it didn't feel like i got ripped off paying for a cup of ice and a splash of tea...(i wont name names, but you know who you are). That's it for the good. The taste was....well first of all, it was not anywhere near sweet enough, which is not a huge problem. Don't get me wrong, i still needed it to be sweeter, but this was not the biggest issue. The biggest issue was that the tea itself tasted like someone had lit tea leaved on fire and threw them into my mouth. Unfortunately by the time i had taken my first sip, I had walked too far away to turn back. Will I go back here? Meh. Maybe. I do want to try their bahn mis. My mom and I loved our recent visit to Rollin' Rolls Cafe! We visited on a Sunday, for lunch, and it was a great experience. I called in a phone order and I was surprised the estimated time was only 10 minutes! My food was ready by the time I arrived and I was able to quickly get in and out. We ordered a lemongrass chicken banh mi and a spring roll vermicelli. I really wanted to try the spring rolls because I had heard good things. Both items were so good! My mom and I were admiring the presentation of the food because everything was neatly packaged. Takeout lunch from Kaka'ako, Honolulu, Hawai'i... Knowing that parking would be challenging in this part of town, I chose to visit on a Sunday when metered street parking is free. It was also a rainy day, so I was hoping for more of a chance for closer parking and less of a crowd. I ended up going near to the closing time of 3pm, so there was just one customer ahead of me. Service was very friendly and helpful. The welcoming cashier explained that the Vietnamese coffees are made with condensed milk, so they all have dairy in them... except for the lemonade... Gosh... I really wanted that Ube Foam Coffee... I'll just take some pills and drink it at home! LOL! (It was strong!) I also ordered the Shrimp Summer Rolls - gee - they were unusually good because there's something like a crispy noodle inside? Yum! The dipping sauce really enhanced the flavor! I had the ube coffee with ube foam, cream cheese, whole milk, and condensed milk, and it was Oh Em Gee heavenly!!' Unlike some Vietnamese coffees that can lean overly sweet from too much condensed milk, this was very well balanced, beautifully layered, and not cloyingly sweet . Same goes for the pandan latte with pandan foam. Super unique and really well done. The food menu is small and cleverly designed for the kitchen to put out quick, satisfying meals on the go, but there are some standout items. The Hidden Crunch Rolls are a must-try. Summer rolls stuffed with spring rolls. Spring rolls are generously filled with pork and wrapped neatly inside fresh summer rolls. Portion size is generous and great for sharing as an appetizer. Best value on the menu is easily the Sai Gon Breakfast Combo. Banh mi plus Viet phin coffee for $18. I've been hearing about this place located in Keauhou Lane which you'll see Down to Earth right at the corner and parking entrance right beside with first hour free parking and direct access to the retail shops is an easy spot with a short walk. Rollin' Rolls Cafe is very cute as I entered pulling on the heavy door as the place was filled with some rustic metal seating you order at the counter and since I arrived about 30 minutes to closing I decided to make it a take out and decided on their Veggie Spring Rolls Vermicelli Plate which is vegetarian option specifically chosen to avoid any cross contamination and paired it with Strawberry Sparkling Lemonade. As it all was made to order there was a short wait though my drink was made first I enjoyed sipping as I wait for my order it was a nice and refreshing sip not too sweet though not too tart as well. I received my order in a nice handle bag though it was slightly too small as my plate sat on an angle with a slight tear in the bag the staff was nice as she asked it I wanted hot sauce (yes!) and after I found a spot to enjoy my lunch was pleasantly surprised how stunning it was. Spring rolls sliced perfectly into bite sized for easy to consume as they have such a generous amount of sauce along with fresh veggies I really enjoyed my plate without feeling too full. One of the best Pandan Coffee I've had! The Pandan flavor really shines through, unlike other Pandan coffees where the strong arabica beans used in Vietnamese coffee overshadows the padan. I highly recommend this drink! I would skip the Thai tea next time though... way too sweet. read more

Service at the register was very prompt and friendly. The ambiance is fine, with about 6 smaller tables if you dine in. We ordered the special banh mi, side chicken broth, and their signature crunch rolls. These are crunchy spring rolls wrapped in Lettuce and rice papers. You get 12 slices to an order with sweet chili sauce for dipping. Delicious! The banh mi was toasted nicely and their homemade patê added a nice creaminess to the sandwich. The pork slices looked like char siu pork belly. A side of soup to dip your sandwich is $5, which I think is a bit much. If I wanted to market this I'd offer it as an add on to banh mi orders for $3.50. You can still offer the soup for $5 ala carte, but they'd sell a lot more sandwiches if the made a true soup n sandwich combo deal. Next time we'll try their drinks. read more

Please be careful with their door - you'll need some arm strength and will need to pull it kinda hard to get it open. The veggie items are pretty tasty, along with their soy-based dipping sauce. The veggie banh mi is delicious although it could use a bit more of the veggie filling inside. Four stars from what I tasted today. The menu is nice for a smaller business. The location is down an alleyway between buildings. There are other eateries there like Mad Pie next door so I wanted to try this place. I walked in and saw all tables taken as well as all seats taken. I decided to call in the order and wait and grab two slices of pizza next door too! Supposed local smaller businesses, because why not? I ordered shrimp summer rolls and a bbq pork vermicelli noodles. Both were ready in less than 15 minutes of waiting. While sitting there I heard others raving about a coffee with ube cold foam. I had coffee for the day already, but who knows maybe next time. Orders were flying out of the this place and kudos to the busy workers behind. For a small shop I didn't hear much kitchen cooking nor did I smell the food as it was cooking. Could be high ceilings, possibly air vents or other things. Not a complaint at all. The cashier was super friendly and busy. Making drinks, taking orders, taking phone orders, serving orders, please be patient. He's a one man team when I was there. One minute from where I live, I got to try this place. I ordered a house special banh mi, it tastes pretty good, the wait time for my food was pretty long, more than 15 minutes. The set up inside is simple, a few tables with chairs, free water, help yourself kine. Some posters on the wall, one guy work the cashier, give out food, that is. I cannot see the inside and the kitchen, so, while I was waiting, I have no idea how many people is working behind. I ordered their ube foam coffee and this coffee is STRONG lol and the Ube foam gives a little sweetness to it which I loveeee. I also ordered the hidden rolls and the bbq pork banh mi sandwich and yaaaaasss it satisfied my tummy. I would say that if it is your first time it's going to be a little difficult to find. It's literally in between down to earth and this other building but they're next to Mad Pie. So you might want to circle around slowly and I believe you can park in one of the parking structure and the first hour is free. Loved their shrimp summer rolls that had a fried piece of rolled up spring wrapper that made it next level with the crunch, yuMmmz! My baby daughter liked the rice noodles from it. The chicken spring rolls came in 4pcs but it was really like 8 regular size pcs if you cut them in half. Again great crunch n' flavor, my son even enjoyed it. Both rolls come with dipping sauces. Pandan latte had a slight sweetness from the foam while the salted foam coffee was strong n' bold. All of my three kids ranging from 16mos to 4y/o inhaled the choco cloud milk so I had to order another one! Definitely want to come back to try their banh mi n' plate lunches. read more

OVERALL Great takeaway options, healthy choices, and efficient service. Would definitely be back soon for the namesake rolls and drinks! AMBIANCE The interior is clean and comfortable. Menu is simple but totally sufficient. I could see myself coming back to have a lunch with friends. There's a mural to take an IG pic too. Parking at Keahou was easy-same lot as Down to Earth across the street from HMart. Be sure to pull open the right hand door- careful, it's a little heavy! FOOD The hidden crunch rolls were delicious and definitely worth it -- so glad I got two orders. This fed a family of three and enjoyed by all ages--even with the basil addition. Not sure I needed all the sauce, but others really enjoyed the extra flavor, so do try it first without. I was pleasantly surprised they were able to accommodate my drink request for black iced coffee with no sugar. Delicious and strong, def hit the spot. The choco cloud milk was a hit too. Banh mi bread was perfectly crunchy and soft. I like that there are pictures under the register of items-that helped me visualize what the creative menu meant. SERVICE Kind! Communication was very clear and service was efficient. I was a little hesitant about how long the food would take since I had a bit of a tight schedule but surprisingly things came out and a few others came in to order- we all got our orders pretty quickly, no issues. read more

I finally got the chance to try this place and it did not disappoint!!! ! I got the shrimp summer rolls for myself and the pork summer rolls for my co-workers. There was a generous amount shrimp and pork and the veggies were crisp and fresh! Can't wait to try the other items on the menu!! This was actually my third time trying to eat here however I would say it was kind of worth the wait. Upon entry there are either one or two people at the cashier so you might have to wait a little bit to place your order. It's nice because they will take a few orders and then work on them and then come back and take a few more so that you're not waiting too long if the line is long for people to order. Today's order was just a drink, a pandan latte. It was a little expensive for the drink. I paid $7.26 pre-tip however since I only ordered a drink, it came out pretty quick. I went in around noon. I was out at 12:08. Most of the patrons that were inside were they're picking up lunch to bring back to their place of employment. The seating is nice. The chairs have backs and while we can get a little noisy in there, it's not hard to hear the person that you're sitting with. The reason that I've been here three times is because the first time, they were sold out of what I wanted to eat. The second time it was too busy and the third time was just right. I enjoyed my drink despite it being a little more expensive than I thought it was a nice treat for the day. The employees are very nice and I would come back for food. It looked very delicious, but it was not on the agenda today to have lunch there. I will report back when I do. read more

First time here. Service was great! We ordered the Special Bahn Mi with homemade pate, mayo, pork and pickled vegetables. It was flavorful and delicious! The pickled vegetables were just right and not vinegary like some others we've tried. We'll have to go back for the other menu items. I'm sure they will be just as tasty. read more

The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The shrimp summer rolls had a surprise crunch to them, added treat. I also had the lemongrass chicken Banh Mi sandwich another great choice with soft bread. I'll definitely be back! read more

Highly recommend! Everything was ono especially the social Bahn Mi that's made with homemade pate and mayo. And OMG her hidden crunch rolls make it easy for everyone to just enjoy, no hassle of having to wrap the spring roll yourself. I will definitely go back. read more
