Love this place! Just popped in and had the breakfast sandwich and matcha latte. Wow the sandwich exceeded my expectations! Full of flavor and filled me up! Delicious! I try to get a different drink each time I come and it's always so good. I also love looking at the sugar display that shows how much sugar is in the common foods that we tend to eat. Super informative And there's WiFi if you need it. Highly recommend!

I'm not Keto but I've been meaning to try this keto cafe for a while. I had a dentist appointment which is in the area so I decided to go to Rise Cafe after. The cafe is small and is located across Daily Whisk Matcha. You can just park in the lot but I had found street parking that day. I was surprised to see the owner, Dr. Jodi, at the front taking orders. She was friendly and personable. I like following her page for keto meal ideas even though I'm not keto, I like to incorporate lower carb meals. I decided to do a to-go order of the Coconut Wireless espresso drink and the breakfast waffle sandwich. I was worried that I wouldn't like the drink because I am iffy about coconut milk but it was actually really good. I got it sweetened with a little honey and it was delicious. The breakfast waffle sandwich was a generous portion of eggs, bacon, cheese between 2 keto waffles. Basically like a keto version of a McGriddle. The waffles didn't taste keto and tasted like regular waffles. Honestly, so good! I could get used to eating like this lol. I'm looking forward to trying her other items on the menu!

Located in Kaimuki, Rise Cafe is a small-ish cafe with two stories of seating. The bottom floor has the kitchen and counter where we ordered. There are also tables and chairs to sit downstairs. After looking at the menu, we decided to get the chicken and chaffles and kamalu bowl. Everything seemed healthy with limits on the carbs and a lack of sugar. We made our order and sat upstairs, which had a couple seating options. The spaces upstairs and downstairs felt clean and simple. There were some decorations but not an overwhelming amount. All of the food we ordered felt filling. The bowls included a variety of foods such as avocados, eggs, and more. The chicken and chaffles were good! The chicken was not oily and did not taste super fried. The chaffles had more of a grainy texture than usual waffles but were still tasty. The chicken and chaffles were about $18, which we felt was a bit pricey. However, we were full by the end of lunch. We are looking forward to going back and trying some new items, such as the loco moco.

This is a hidden gem! We ordered the Chicken and Chaffles, Pistachio Latte, and Coconut Latte. Everything was delicious. The service was super friendly and fast. The food here is all very healthy and light. It's a great way to start the day.

Came after early hot yoga and loved the calm vibe, pretty plants, amazing wi-fi speed, good coffee, tasty latte, and satisfying keto breakfast. There are a lot of options right in the area but definitely check this place out. Food is pretty reasonably priced and I like that they are taking a keto route as I try to avoid gluten most days.

Got a high blood sugar? Eat at Rise Cafe! On a low-carb diet? Eat at Rise Cafe! Just want to eat healthier? Eat at Rise Cafe! Rise Cafe located in the Kaimukī, along 11th Ave., right next to Carte Blanche and Subway. There's a couple of dedicated parking spots out front, or in the paid parking lot. This place serves up breakfast items and coffee/tea drinks and follows a Ketogenic diet with its ingredients. Inside is small and cozy with two levels of sitting areas. You just order at the front and they'll bring everything to your table. The Bulletproof Coffee was okay. I would have preferred the butter to be blended in with the coffee and cream instead of on the top. The Americano was good. Solid flavor. Steak and Eggs. Simple. The chimichurri sauce was delicious! Tasty and bright. The steak was a bit overcooked to my medium requested with about half tender, half toothsome. The steak might've sat under cool air because it was not warm when it arrived, and the pieces were mostly room temperature with some chilled cold. Not sure if that is the intention. The eggs, also requested medium, were over easy. The Chicken and Chaffles were very good, especially the chicken! Give me a basket of that! The chicken was so moist, juicy, tender, and flavorful. Nicely battered and fried. The chaffles were more like regular (healthy) waffles than cheesy or eggy. Overall, an all right experience. Enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. Comfortable and cozy. Food and drinks were fine. Maybe some adjustments for my preference. Chicken was amazing though! Service was okay. Can't say it was the most friendly or upbeat. Some coffee spillage on floor and table when arrived, but only wiped the floor.. Not a big deal since we have napkins. Maybe I'll come back to try other things. Rise Cafe is truly a health conscious place with better attention to details that's not just fruits and vegetables.

The experience was lovely. It's a super cute cafe. The ladies running it were very nice. The food quality was very high. Bacon and egg croffle was tasty. Tried the Mac nut latte, which was good. I prefer a little more espresso but I drank the whole latte. I was stuffed. Will go back again.

Cafe is cute and stylish. Service was great! They have lots of different drinks. I ordered a hot Coconut coffee drink which was delicious, however, it was not hot. I also ordered the chicken and waffles, the chicken was tasty, but again, the food was cold. The waffle was limp and soggy. If the drink and food was hot it would definitely be better.

I was excited to see a new cafe open up in the neighborhood. It looks very appealing from the outside and seeing the phrase, "food = medicine" in the front window made me even more curious. I was thinking just how good healthy, nutritious food could be. Well, it was excellent! I started off with a hot mocha, which had a light, sweet flavor with a hint of mocha; very nice. It was not as sweet and syrupy as other cafes. Then I had the loco moco, good choice. The wagyu patty was very tasty topped off with an egg and keto gravy. All blended together nicely and very flavorful. Unlike most times I have a loco moco, this one leaves you feeling good and not stuffed. Seeing the healthy make up of this loco moco, I was extremely surprised and happy with how good it was! My son had the chicken and chaffles, which I had to try after tasting my loco moco. It was also very good and something I would have the next time. Overall, a superb breakfast and lunch spot that I would highly recommend. The service was great, the atmosphere very nice and comfortable. Best tasting "medicine" I've ever had!

Kamalu Bowl (cauliflower "rice", salsa, crispy bacon, pickled onions, egg, avocado)

I ordered the Kamalu Bowl and it was absolutely delicious and beautiful! The cauliflower "rice" was the perfect al dente texture, crispy bacon, egg, avocado, and salsa. I have to admit my fave was the pickled onions for the perfectly bright crunch. Visit for a chill ambiance, and aunty aloha kine service.

Work lunch Wednesday was ordered from Rise Cafe. I got the kamalu bowl which was interesting. The cauliflower rice had great flavor and I surprised myself by eating it all. The pickled onions brightened up the dish. My least favorite was the bacon because it wasn't crunchy and tough to chew. Give me a vegetarian option and I'd gladly order it. We didn't have to park but there is the kanji municipal lot on the backside that accepts credit cards. There is also metered stalls along waialae ave. The shop is small but I guess there are stairs to an upstairs with more seating but we didn't go up there. Interior is cute and comfy.

My boyfriend wanted to try this place since we were in the area. To be completely honest I was not a huge fan. However, I love the premise of Rise Cafe. The only thing that wowed us was the americano! That was honestly delicious, but the food killed it for us. We thought the portion was small for the crustless quiche (considering price) and the chicken and waffles tasted mediocre. The pancakes tasted a little too doughy and dry, but the chicken was good. It tastes kind of similar to Karage. Unfortunately, we will not be coming back. But if you do happen to go I would recommended their drinks!

Upstairs seating is plentiful and cozy

Quaint little cafe located in Kaimuki. How fitting is it that this health-conscious cafe is right by the park with tennis and basketball ball courts!? They look small from the street level, but they've got a good amount of upstairs seating (albeit cozy) and private restrooms. Their menu, while not extensive, has some nice options. I got the salad flight and a side of bread, while my friend got the back and eggs and a side of waffle. For drinks, I got the hojicha (?) latte and she got a latte. The service was friendly and I think the owner was present. She was quite nice. Offered some health advice, but not pushy at all about it. It is on the pricier side, and it can get loud when busy, but it's healthy keto food. Hoping to see more items in the future!

    Do you have vegan options?

Hello Mei-Li. Vegan options are limited here, but we can do avocado toast (toasted with EVOO not butter) and our yogurt parfait. Thank you so much for inquiring.

    Is this place dog friendly?

We have 4 golden retrievers ourselves and LOVE dogs! Our recommendation when you come to Rise is to “read the room.” If the other guests dining inside seem dog friendly then by all means, Yes. If someone is giving you those unhappy, disgusted looks,…

Are the waffles gluten-free at rise Café?

Yes they are. We use a small amount of almond flour, but no wheat flour or wheat products. If you are severely gluten intolerant, please be sure to let our staff know so that extra precautions can be taken. Mahalo!

Is this a good place to study?

Hi, Joshua, yes it is! Upstairs is much quieter and we have extremely fast WiFi. People have tested it!

I really like the premise of this family-friendly restaurant, which spotlights fresh, local ingredients, at a mid-range price point. et al. has a lot of good things going for it, The good: 1. Well-lighted, warm-hued interior with a nice, contemporary vibe. The high ceilings, clean lines, and rounded storage vaults reminded me of Italy. Cute "local" Hawai`i touches: palaka-inspired banquette upholstery, Hawaiian-quilt design screening on the tiled floor. -More veggie-forward than a lot of places: always good to find places that don't mask their greens with heavy sauces and treat vegetable preparation with respect. Ovo-lacto vegetarians will not starve at this place. 2. Cheerful, friendly, attentive, and efficient service. Food came out quicky. Cold things were cold; hot things hot. Water was replenished frequently. 3. Overall, we enjoyed the food! It reminded me a little of the old Mariposa at Neiman Marcus Ala Moana, in terms of menu. I appreciated the simple, clean, bright flavors that highlighted the fresh, local ingredients - no heavy-handed demi-glaces or sauces detracting from dishes. While not exceptional or innovative, et al.'s middle-of-the-road, easygoing, familiar, "safe" flavors have broad appeal, making this restaurant a smart bet for parties with non-adventurous diners. I had the catch of the day: my opah came with an addictive, zesty mojo sauce (like a spicy chimichurri, bright with garlic, cilantro, and lime), Ho tomatoes, eggplant, and garlic rice: a winner! My fellow diner had the Kahuku Golden Tomato Malfaldine: tasty, though a bit one-note, but on the other hand, they had perfectly cooked pasta and crookneck squash. 4. While we didn't take advantage of this, the restaurant shows sensitivity to those with dietary needs/preferences. It openly states on its menu that they're willing to modify menu items, making things vegan, gluten-free, dairy free, etc. 5. Easy-peasy online reservation via Open Table. And areas for improvement: 1. Garlic Bread: can't ask for a better foundational base than Chris Sy's Breadshop City loaf: first-rate crusty bread; there was robust garlic flavor, and fresh chives to further amplify savoriness. Unfortunately, my dining partner and I both thought it was over-buttered (couldn't really discern the miso in the miso butter) and overly salty from the cheese. That being said, I'm certain there would be diners that might've thought the seasoning and buttering was perfect: this may be a matter of taste. But $6 for a halved slice of bread? Really?! Ouch. 2. Menu labeling issues: -Sumida Farms Watercress Salad: despite the name, the salad had barely any watercress and mostly kale. Not lacinato kale (Italian kale) either, as advertised on the description, but curly kale. If et al. listed this menu item as kale salad with watercress and didn't specify the type of kale (or hedged by saying "seasonal kale"), it would've been fine. Fortunately, we both like kale, and this was a delicious salad that was an absolute pleasure to eat, deftly dressed with housemade Green Goddess dressing, as good as it comes, fresh kale, watercress sprigs, watermelon radish slices, diced Asian pear, and Marcona almonds: savory, sweet, crunchy. The misleading advertising is problematic. -You should let diners know via the menu description if an item is spicy. The mojo sauce on the fish was dynamite, but I'm a spice-addict, and I'd rank the heat level as medium, maybe medium-hot for most people. Diners with no/low tolerance for chiles should be warned ahead of time. 3. Might want to clean the banquette upholstery: some visible stainage. With a few refinements, I could see et al. becoming a go-to East Honolulu destination for date night, or lunch out with the girls, or a nice but not break-the-bank special dinner out with the family.

Prices are on the higher side, but I think that's kind of expected because of the quality. Service was good. Rating? Probably a strong 4, but I'm rounding up because places like this are rare.

You would never guess that they are gluten-free and vegan. It's cute you walk in there are pictures and quotes and post-its from all over the place from people who have visited. There are a few tables and chairs outside and inside and the bakery is air-conditioned. When you walk in to the left is their display case which mainly has cookies donuts muffins bread. Then you have the ordering window, which has some of the hot items like the pizza roll. Everything that I've had has been 10 out of 10 as far as gluten-free baked items go it is great texture. Good quality made fresh. I noticed that the cookies are crunchy on the outside. Chewy on the inside, the muffins are delightful, sweet and light. The bread is quite heavy in terms of weight but as you eat it, it taste light so it is very nice and filling and has a subtle mochi or tapioca starch texture, which I love, especially if you're going to toast The bagel or the bread. This is an absolute jam when it comes to accommodating those with dietary restrictions, but even if you are not eating a restrictive diet, the baked items are really delicious too. You can order a gluten-free cake as well. Given at least five days notice ordering ahead. They don't have a designated convenient, free parking stall, but there is a paid parking open air lot across the street and also a covered underground parking structure right next-door and there's ample Street parking nearby .

Okay so everything here is delicious. All the cakes are amazingly great and the Blueberry scone is…read morescrumptious and delightful and all that jazz, but my current obsession is the Coconut Tapioca Mango. Holy crap it is SO delicious. I usually run by here and let me tell you I always have to stop by to get this. It is SO refreshing, flavorful and light so it's a great option for after a hike or if you're on a run to be able to take a break and enjoy this limited item. I will never shut up about this because it is just that good. The quality of the mango really shines in this and the coconut tapioca melds perfectly with the sweetness of the mango. I always feel refreshed after eating this and it's been my go-to snack break to keep me energized on my run. Not to mention it's just so aesthetically pleasing! I heard it always sells out but I've been very lucky recently being able to scoop these up for myself. I highly recommend that if you stop by and see it available to just try it - you won't regret it.

Went there close to 3pm so after the lunch rush hour and before dinner. I thought there were only…read moretwo women waiting for their orders (although there could have been food orders) so I was surprised when I found out there were people waiting in their cars that ordered before me (is that a thing? Order and then wait in an air conditioned car?). But I guess you have to be directly in front of the pick up order window to hear them call out your number and these three groups knew the trick. So I actually waited a while (one of the cars had four orders) since everything is cooked to order. Parking is okay, while it seems crowded at times people visiting the market are in and out quickly so there were times when there were many space and other times just one or two. The food was very good. We ordered the Teri beef steak (rib eye). There was enough meat for two meals in my plate. The greens are nice (not romaine or ice berg). I believe they put a mustard based dressing at the bottom and then the greens so at first glance it looks like they forgot the dressing. But they put a lot of it. The meat reminded me of my mother's barbecue meat that she made when I was little. Nostalgic. I also like the desserts in the market. The harpist/sweet potato w/ Mac nut crust is way better than the Foodland one (although a bit more expensive) I remember when this location used to be Burgerland. I enjoyed it then and still enjoy it.
