This was my first time at this location. I haven't been to a Rise in years. I walked in and placed an order at the one kiosk available (only option to place an order in store). They have screens to show which orders are being prepared and which orders are ready. After placing an order, we waited about four 25 minutes to find that their system had some type of glitch and then all of a sudden a bunch of online orders popped up above our order. Someone finally walked up to me and I asked about all the names that showed up and if online orders get priority over in store orders. I was told yes online orders her priority and we would get bumped down even after waiting so long. At that point, I asked for a refund. Very disappointed after waiting all that time that no one felt the need to explain what was going on to everyone waiting and no apology. IF you decide to eat here, order online!

TLDR: Good place for a quick, southern breakfast biscuit. Order online or at the kiosk. Cashless restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]No indoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Yum another Rise location that opened this year in Waverly Place! They have really simplified their locations with a small store front. I do miss seeing the available options in the display case, however, they seem more efficient now. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The area inside the front door is bright and welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Here they have coffee, water, ordering kiosk, order pick-up, and a restroom. No seating apart from outdoor tables. Place an order online or at the ordering kiosk. I opted to use the kiosk. They are cashless so plan accordingly. When your order is ready they call your name or if you inputted your phone number you receive a text update. The biscuits are of course amazing. I usually opt for a chicken biscuit, breakfast biscuits, and/or donut. This visit I chose the guacamole smash. I ate it later that day so it was a little messy. Nonetheless, it was delicious, well balanced, and filling. They don't skimp on the guacamole! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Only suggestion would be to have a few chairs inside for customers to sit in while awaiting orders.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, good place for a quick, southern breakfast.

Super fast and friendly service at this location. The location was a bit hard to find but it's almost right next to Whole Foods. Loved the cute little biscuit wallpaper. My biscuit and tots were perfect. Will definitely return!

Great food with fast service. Nice way to start Mothers Day. My husband always gets the Nashville Hot. They also have great BLTs. We love the staff too.

I went savory: a chicken salad croissant (flaky, generously filled, with a side of bow-tie pasta salad and a creamy poppyseed slaw) and a pressed caprese-style panini with tomato, mozzarella, and basil grilled to a deep golden crisp. Both solid, satisfying lunches. On the drinks, the cold brew made with Joe Van Gogh beans was great--smooth and well-balanced. The iced café au lait was acceptable, nothing memorable but it did the job. The bakery case alone is worth a stop: cannoli, cranberry almond muffins, strawberry streusel coffee cake, cinnamon rolls, brownies, and a rack of croissants. Friendly counter service and a comfortable spot whether you're grabbing a quick bite or lingering with a coffee. Worth a return visit. Prices are very reasonable.

You can get a punch card for every coffee and get one free on your tenth purchase. They have a great pastry selection. The Chicken & Waffles was my favorite! The chicken was nice and crispy and the waffle was a sweet corn waffle. It came with these little morsels of grilled peaches and I wish there had been more of them because I could've eaten a whole bowl of them. The Peck and Plume Bowl was my least favorite dish but that's only because it was VERY tart and I wasn't expecting that. It has passion fruit, banana, blueberries, yogurt, granola, coconut flakes, and bee pollen. We also got the Eggs Benedict which came with country ham and wilted spinach on top. The ham was a bit salty but the breakfast potatoes on the side were great and the eggs were cooked perfectly jammy.

He was willing to answer questions but seemed a little weeded. Perhaps he's new. Still her was personable and kind. The drinks, a Dirty Martini and Hibiscus Tonic were fantastic. I'm on a quest to find the best Dirty Martini in the area and this is in contention. I ordered the burger and my husband got the shrimp and grits. We'd say they were "fine". Neither the meat nor shrimp were seasoned. That said they were cooked well. The grits were well done and the relish was on target. The fries were also fantastic. Overall, it was a good experience sitting on the beautiful patio with music coming into the space from the park. With a few tweaks this could get a better rating.

Our breakfast ended up coming out before coffee, which made no sense. I had to ask about the coffees before they were actually made. When the girl came from morning ritual She brought out my husbands, hot cappuccino but my mocha out iced and I immediately said I don't drink cold coffee and I did an order iced. Instead of being apologetic, and stating that she would change it, she just snatched the iced coffee and walked away. That was such a strange encounter. It was rude and I got no apology, nor did I get any explanation of what would happen next. I let my server know to ensure I was still going to get a coffee because I can't live without my coffee in the morning! When my Moca loved her honey, oat milk, coffee came I took a sip and was glad i didn't flip out and say "forget the coffee" (as I was already done with breakfast by the time in arrived) because the drink was delicious! If I'm ever back in the area (I was staying in Raleigh but decided to take a little detour into Durham that morning) I'll come to only Morning Ritual to see if I can change this 3 star review for service issues into a 5. For now they need to work on getting coffee service to The Goat streamlined!

Ironically, I went here because I rarely get out to eat and the service has always been consistent. 1. There was no one at the cash register and an employee who was just about to go on break took my order. He was polite enough but I found out later that he put in the wrong order. 2. There were no tables that I saw that were wiped off. Some had the dishes removed but I needed to wipe off a table. 3. A cockroach scrambled across the floor near my table to the left of the coffee station. I wish I was joking, or seeing things but I wasn't the only person who saw it. One of the female employees went toward it and stepped on it but since it was headed toward my table, I moved. 4. It was really hot in there. Maybe not AC completely broken hot, but AC on the struggle bus hot. There was a large fan in the back dining room that wasn't doing much of anything except redistributing humidity. 5. I ordered an avocado toast with bacon and got delivered a grilled cheese sandwich. The server took it back but then I needed to ask for the bacon. I'm sorry I didn't take a picture because the same dish on Sunday was so elaborate and beautifully presented and the same order today was just meh. Not a good value for the price. I will say the server correcting someone else's mistake was clearly overwhelmed but doing her best. She was also the cockroach killer. I ate my lunch and read my book. My intention had been to linger a while and read but I decided to leave. The place was about 1/4 full when I left but all the tables still had crumbs, food debris and water on them made it too unpleasant to stick around. Very disappointing. I don't see myself going back any time soon. I do love their bread but I'm sure I can find someplace more pleasant or go to the downtown location instead.

Nice selection of menu items, and breakfast items are available all day. Unfortunately, these are offset by impressions of the food after two visits. Just not up to snuff. On the first visit, the Chicago dog was sub-par, but that was my partner's order and I don't remember the details. I just remember she said she wouldn't order it again. On today's visit, I ordered a meatball parm sandwich. It was cloyingly sweet - both the meatballs and the tomato sauce were unappetizing, and I could only manage to stand eating a bit of it. My partner ordered a side of corned beef hash. It turned up in a little paper tray with some dry shredded corned beef sprinkled on top of some home fry potatoes - just basic cubed potatoes and some beef shreds on top. That's it. It didn't feel like any corned beef hash we had ever seen. And we paid extra for a fried egg that didn't make it onto the dish. Of course when we pointed this out, it was quickly cooked up separately and brought to the table, so no problems again with the service or resolving the issue. Also be warned that Thursday nights from 6-8pm they run a music trivia game that blasts music loudly throughout the large dining space, completely surrounded by reflective surfaces. It was so loud and obnoxious that it made conversation impossible and drove us outside. I wish I could report a better experience. We need more quality delis around here!
