Recently discovered this restaurant, and wow what an outstanding experience from beginning to end. We started with the calamari and burrata. The burrata was incredibly fresh, soft, and creamy, melting beautifully with every bite. The calamari had that perfect crisp texture that is so hard to find, and the marinara sauce was on another level, you could truly taste the fresh, rich tomato flavor. Then we we ordered the veal marsala, which was absolutely extraordinary. The veal was so tender, soft, and perfectly cooked, with a slight caramelized touch that made it even better. It was paired with broccolini that was cooked just right, with a delicious hint of garlic. My husband ordered a pizza, and honestly, it was unbelievable. The crust was fluffy and light, never heavy or overly doughy, with the perfect crisp on the edges. The toppings were balanced so well, and every slice looked beautifully arranged and carefully made. We also ordered the carbonara pasta, and it was incredible. The pancetta was crispy, the sauce was rich and flavorful, and you could tell it was made with real Parmesan cheese. It was creamy and satisfying without being too heavy like many carbonaras I've had before. The salad was just as impressive, fresh lettuce, perfectly dressed, with caramelized pecans that added the perfect sweetness and crunch. To finish, we had their famous tiramisu. I had to order it after seeing so many tables enjoying it, and I'm so glad I did. It was rich yet light, delicate, and absolutely delicious. I've driven past this restaurant many times and it's always busy, so I stopped by for dinner on a Thursday evening before 7 and it was still packed. We were greeted right away and seated in about five minutes. Everyone was so friendly, and we felt well taken care of. They started us off with complimentary freshly grilled bread and an herby olive oil. We began with the arancini, which came with five generously sized pieces. The marinara sauce complemented it well, and they were very filling. For the main, we shared a pizza, and they were able to do half margherita. All the desserts looked appealing, but we went with the tiramisu, which was loaded with fresh cream. I could see how hard the wait staff was working, and the atmosphere felt cozy. Tiny little bistro with eclectic flair. Mid-week dinner, and a yearning for a seafood medley led us here. BYOB, so bring what you enjoy. My son had the seafood, my wife the chicken fettuccine, and I had the Buther pizza. Everybody shared because portions were generous. All of the food was excellent! We have wanted to try Mulino for some time and finally made it! A busy Saturday night, but our table for four was immediately seated. Gerta was kind and prompt and the pesto olive oil with the toasted bread tasted great. Cute dining room and many people sitting outside even on this unseasonably warm night. Food wise we all hit home runs - pollo francese, chicken marsala, frutti di mare, and I got a salciccia pizza with the perfect leoparding on the crust. We brought plenty of wine and enjoyed a great evening. read more

My wife and I have been patronizing Ristorante Mulino since the day it opened, as well as the 2 family restaurants that preceded Mulino's at that location. There just aren't that many BYOB establishments with good food in the area, and that is what we look for. Mulino's food has remained consistently good (thank you, chef!), yet as it pertains to their service, in the past year or so our dining experience here has gotten progressively worse. The last time we were there we felt rushed out even though we still had food on our plates. We ate there again tonight. Ordered the special, Lobster Ravioli. 10 minutes after we ordered, the table next to us was seated. 20 minutes later they were served. 10 minutes after that our waitress came over and asked us what we had ordered - they had forgotten to place our order. 15 minutes later we were finally served. The Ravioli was excellent. Then my wife asked for a small sample of their spicy marinara sauce - she just wanted to try it to see how spicy it was. They brought out a small condiment bowl of marinara. Later, after my wife and I each had a small taste, they swept the bowl off our table with our Ravioli dishes. Then I found that they added a $3 charge to our tab for the sample that we couldn't even take home with us. Now I know that $3 is not going to break anyone's bank account, but the whole experience was just another nail in the coffin, so to speak. I doubt we'll be rushing back to Mulinos. read more

Ristorante Mulino is hands down the best secret spot in Southlake for a cozy, inviting, and friendly dining experience! They have a real wood firing pizza oven that welcomes you as you walk in to the restaurant! I ordered the pappardelle with ragu and the sauce was delicious! The true test was the pizza, and the Margarita pizza was completely authentic with the right char on the crust, crush ed San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil! The staff are extremely friendly and attentive, don't miss the gem! read more

First visit here and it was a nice, quiet place in Southlake. It was hard to find the front entrance, buts it's on the far left side of the patio. We enjoyed all of the food options ordered. The fried calamari and arancini balls were great! My husband had the spaghetti and meatballs and I had the chicken picatta but substituted the pasta for mashed potatoes. We saw lots of people ordering pizza and the fried calamari. Such a great experience and meal. read more

Met a friend here for lunch. We really wanted to try the white pizza so we got that as an appetizer and took the rest home. It was delicious. For entrees we ordered chicken piccata and chicken parmigiana. Both were good. It's byob and since it was her birthday I brought us each a small prosecco. We shared the tiramisu for dessert. Surprisingly, out of everything ordered the only thing I wouldn't get again was the tiramisu. It was dry and the lady fingers weren't soaked. I came close to not doing one more review as it occurred to me that I'm not doing myself any favors by making a table any harder to get here than it is now. LOL. But there is one more thing of note I'd like to mention. We shared the Pollo Valdostana this evening. If you read my first review you already know this dish is terrific, but this is what I want to commend the kitchen for... the vegetables. The first time we had this dish we had pasta instead of the vegetables as we know what so many restaurants' vegetables are usually like. In many if not most restaurants vegetables are more often than not just plate fillers, the prep of which in the kitchen is mailed in and shown no great love. The vegetables with this dish consist of sliced carrots, zucchini and green beans. The seasoning it is restrained and delicious. Butter? And the vegetables are cooked perfectly. Soft enough, but with plenty of crunch to render them so very enjoyable. This is a rather rare phenomenon in our experience. Even in some higher end restaurants. This kitchen clearly cares about everything they put on the plate for their guests. read more

I have been a long time customer of Mulino. I was very happy to discover Besi and his beautiful wife, Claudia, once employees, purchased this restaurant and are now living the American dream. There have been times when they struggled in the kitchen with various chefs who produced less than quality food. But Besi's brother has been the Chef and is delivering excellent food. The last three visits have been excellent. Two weeks ago I dined with a party of 6, outstanding food, excellent service. Mulino is a neighborhood gem. Support the little guy! read more

I ordered the Palliard di pollo which was a weird thin chicken breast in container that was overcooked and dry (only at one bite). It came with a tiny salad. Will try and add picture (s) One guest ordered a pasta dish and the sauce was dry. The other one ordered a pizza with pesto. Not cooked and filled with arugula and very little chicken. We have come here for a very (very) long time. Let's get the negatives out of the way. The acoustics are not so fantastic and it can get really loud in here. Now for the positives. They bring out bread with a pesto style dipping sauce that is out of this world. Every salad we've ever had is fantastic ,highly recommend the eggplant Parm, any pizza is amazing, and the pasta carbonara is very good. It's a woodfired oven, so always asked for extra crispy crust. It's BYOB, which makes a significant difference in your bill, if you drink wine. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is always super kind and accommodating. Just a small Mom and Pop kind of place that is done really well and we could not be happier to eat here. read more

Man I really wanted to love this place. It has a cozy, local, hole-in-the wall vibe with tight café seating and proximity to the kitchen. Some outdoor seating is available in a narrow space around the outside of the building, a bit close to the parking lot I thought. Service was fine, overall experience fine. But nothing about the food wowed us. I've had better pizza. She's had better pasta. We ordered the Zucchini Fritti (fried zucchini) and it was fine, though we wished the batter was more flavorful. I tried the Pepperoni Pizza, which was well presented but nothing special. Se tried the Frutti Di Mare which after having fallen in love with the the dish in San Francisco, seemed bland. Overall, I think that's how I'd characterize our overall disappointment was the food seems to be short on savory punch. We have found the restaurants in certain parts of Keller overall have been flavor-deficient for some reason. Not sure why that's a thing, but just an observation. Ristorante Mulino is a nice date night location if you don't mind a less savory flavor profile in your Italian food. read more

The food is good, I particularly like their zucchini frites appetizer and their pastas. My daughter tried their cheese pizza and wasn't as impressed. It's worth mentioning, it's a byob establishment which I'm sure a lot of people appreciate too. read more
