Week 32/52 in my endeavor to try one new (to me) local spot per week! A couple times a week, my mom watches my kids for me while I go off somewhere to work. Ristrettos is maybe five minutes from her place, and I've come to love it! They have a nice, open ground floor that's pretty comparable to any other coffee shop. And then they have a loft, that's a little dark, but it's nice and quiet, and no one really goes up there! I worked up there the first time I came here, and it was great. I felt really safe and it was nice to have the whole space to myself. The second time I came here to work, I decided to go out on their expansive patio. They have firepit tables, smaller tables, and large tables, so there really is a spot for every group size out there. Wifi worked great being outside, too. Both times I've come I've snagged an oatmilk vanilla latte and it's tasted great! Creamy, not to sweet, and piping hot. Can't complain. I'd love to come here for a lunch date or coworking session (aka not just me), because they have a really tasty sounding menu, along with local wine, beer, and seltzer options. Lots of potential for this space. The vibe just wasn't there though. It felt muted. The outside is nice during the summer and the first floor indoors was cozy. The upstairs is just quiet and lit with green-toned LED can lighting which I can't totally blame the shop for, because that's what the market pushes. Incandescent uplighting/table lighting would've really made the loft pop. Took more than 10 minutes to get service, so I just ordered a fig & brie appetizer, not expecting to stay for too long. Great flavor but expected more figs around the plate. There was a decent selection of beer, so I did decide to stay awhile. My friends and I have visited this coffee shop for coffee/tea drinks and for lunch previously. And although I find the drip tepid, it does have good, strong flavor which I like. A friend and I returned on Saturday for lunch. A brunch menu was available, so I ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken pieces were not tenders, as expected for the price of the brunch item. Instead, I was served popcorn kernel sized balls laid on top of two cold frozen toaster waffles. The "balls" had no chicken, only cremated coating, and the waffles were thick and chewy. First off, I want to say I absolutely love this place. The vibe and location is exactly what I want. And for that I would give it 5 starts but there are a couple big things that keep it from being 5 starts. The good!! - Really yummy food (the actual menu, not the breakfast. The food is made fresh but the breakfast is mostly pre-purchased). Their chop chop salad is easily my favorite salad anywhere! And so is the pretzel sandwich. - The space. It's very open and feels welcoming and I love the fireplace and the extra space up stairs to study and be away from the socialization. - The staff is really sweet and seem like a family - I like that it switches to full service at 4p. And from coffee in the AM to like a restaurant in the evening. The "could be better" - the coffee. I LOVE coffee and drink it black so I really get the taste of it and their coffee just comes out burnt every. Single. Time. I don't know if it's the beans or the espresso machine itself but it definitely could be much better. I usually have to add a lot of water to it (specifically when it's iced cause they put a LOT of ice) - The lack of effort to get to know customers. I have been going for MONTHS and I am in at least 2x a week and had a stretch where I was there everyday for a month without fail and they were always nice and treated me well as a customer but not as a regular. And still do not. I think one of the most fun things about going to a non-chain/corporate coffee shop is that you get to become a regular and they get to know your name and your order and you feel really welcome and excited to go. Ashley is the only one has ever made any attempt to ask me what I was studying and smiles as if she knows my face now and one other girl made an attempt to remember my order but wasn't quite right haha but I just SO appreciated the attempt because it finally made me feel like they recognized me haha. I've driven past this place for years and never stopped this morning. That changed as I had a little extra time I was starving and hadn't had coffee on my way to work. Went through the drive-thru. The folks working were wonderful, pleasant cheerful just the kind of people you want to talk to if you have to talk to somebody. The menu is pretty basic, standard coffee shop items, priced reasonably as well, in addition, their food, options are solid. I ordered a breakfast burrito, a breakfast sandwich, and a cinnamon roll. Each of which was fine cooked well and had decent flavor. So service and food options are solid why three stars? The coffee drink I received had almost no flavor in terms of what I ordered. I can't remember exactly what it was, but it was white coffee with mocha and something and all I could taste was white coffee and milk. The other flavors didn't come through. I'm not sure if that's a syrup choice. The amount of syrup... no idea. What I do know is when I pull my own espresso at home and pump in two pumps of flavoring I taste that with my coffee one does not overpower the other. Look, I'm sure my coffee, preferences and snobbery put me on a different level than most consumers. So this isn't to disparage folks or the business, again, they were perfectly pleasant and the food was good but as one of your primary functions being coffee, I would expect more which is why I'm leaving an OK rating at this time read more

So while visiting a friend I ran into this cute coffee shop because coffee always calls my name like bakeries do!! I usually go with blended drinks but this time I was in the mood to try iced coffee I ordered a iced mocha with Mama D's Farmhouse chocolate banana loaf on my first trip. It was a nice sunny day and they had a really wonderful seating so I decided to sit outside and sunbathe while enjoying my treats The second trip with my sister we tried the flatbread pizza which was amazing, but what's not amazing with bacon and barbecue sauce . I did order another iced mocha it was not made the same way I only bring that up to let you know that you may need to specify how you want your drink made as that any coffee shop every barista makes it a little different. This spot is worth going to they serve coffee wine they have wonderful seating area there is an upstairs where you can reserve for small events like a baby shower and they also make wraps flatbread pizzas there's entrees paninis and salads all that comes with great customer service from the young women that work there and serve . Here's the thing.. Ristrettos is convenient and pretty much the only coffee/bar in the entire area. The food is quite good. However, their portions are ridiculous. I spent $15 plus 2.90 for a tip for about 3 tablespoons of mac & cheese for my daughter and not a child's portion. This has happened before and thought we would try one more time. Never again! You gotta try the jalapeño poppers! So so good and filling. $11.99 for 6 big boys! All of the entrees I saw on others' tables looked very appetizing. I want to try one of their salads or flatbreads next time. They are pet and kid friendly with a nice large patio to look at the mountain. Plenty of indoor seating as well. There was a time a few months ago when I would have given Ristrettos five stars. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and welcoming, and for a while there, service was good even during packed evenings with not a table open in sight. Unfortunately, it seems that Ristrettos has made some changes. The last time my husband and I visited, the martini glasses were visibly smaller than they had been for the last couple of years that they'd been serving martinis. I'm talking probably half the size they used to be. The price was still the same - $10.00 each, which was an okay deal when they used the large glasses. The two times we visited before that, I ordered the same sandwich - the BLTT. The first time I ordered it, there were a couple of bites of my sandwich that tasted extremely hot (not temperature hot, chili hot). I told our server and he let me know that it could have been cross contamination since one of the cooks had been working with jalapenos at the same time. This didn't bother me so much, since I love jalapenos and love hot food. I think the server did offer to make me a new sandwich, which I refused, but I would have hoped that feedback would have been taken to heart in the kitchen area. The second time I ordered the BLTT (which was more recently), there was a definite taste of fish and I couldn't help but wonder if it was due again to cross contamination, this time with a piece of salmon (the only fish item on the menu). At that point, my husband and I had decided we were going to stick with drinks only at Ristrettos....until now. I'm sad to say, because the atmosphere is really great, but I don't think we'll be back unless some things change for the better. read more

The ambiance of this place is good. The staff/ service was ok. The food was so so. I just happened to have a bad experience here. I ordered a couple of things on the menu for a take out and had to wait almost a half hour for it and when I got back home half of my order was wrong. It was like they weren't listening to what I was ordering. I then had to call them up and go back to pick up the correct order. I had to wait another 30 min for this. Pulled a thin film of over-heated milk off the top of my drink this morning... I am a barista... this drink has to be at LEAST 180 degrees. The norm is 135-140 degrees unless a customer requests extra hot, and even then, that's excessive and can change the flavor of the milk and the drink overall. I'm never impressed with the service in the dining room, but the window service is never bad. I'll be going elsewhere for coffee from now on, though... this shouldn't be happening from experienced baristas and an established coffee shop. read more
