The Rite Aid in Novato closed, and they illegally transferred my information to a competitor instead of offering me a choice. I've reached out to them and got no response, so I'm the past three weeks I've been telling my doctors to use this pharmacy for me. It's a little out of the way, but they have a drive thru for customers who use pay and go!! So far, the customer service has been superior to the former pharmacy I'd used. Today, I called about prescriptions I'd called in and Natalie answered, she was so kind after listening to my complaining about how my prescriptions and information were transferred to a company without my consent. It is one error after another with the Northgate Rite Aid Pharmacy. And also there is the bad customer service. And Natalie the pharmacist who may be the pharmacy manager provides bad customer service and is not a competent pharmacist. Some of the Rite Aid Stores are going out of business. And if this store remains, they should bring in good employees from their other Rite Aids and get rid of Natalie and bad employees at Northgate Pharmacy. Unfortunately, this place is really starting to go downhill. For example, I have Covid and received a prescription for Paxlovid, which was sent to them at 12:20. I sent my daughter to pick it up at 5 o'clock and they said it wouldn't be ready until tomorrow. I just had an incredibly horrible night last night and was looking forward to getting started today. But now that's not going to happen. We had been sticking with it because it's the only place near us with a drive-through but that hardly seems worth it anymore. read more

Overall, I've had about 4 or 5 Covid tests here since Project Baseline has been processing tests here. Over time, the time spent in the drive through went from 20 minutes down to in-and-out in under 5 minutes. That was great. I went here last week for an asymptomatic Covid test and arrived at my appointment time. Two cars were ahead of me. We were stuck in 90+ degree heat in the drive through pharmacy. The first car did not move for about 20 minutes. All told, it took me about 40 minutes before I got to the window. As the time kept ticking by, I was told to wait. And I waited and waited. After about 10 minutes, I pushed the "help" buzzer and was reprimanded by the attendant/pharmacist. "I TOLD YOU that I'll be right with you ma'am." I explained that I had another appointment I was going to be late getting to since I'd been in the drive through for nearly an hour. And I FINALLY got my Covid vial and swab. Then come and find out that Quest billed my insurance $100 for the test. Rating: A few months ago to a year ago, when the wait times were nil or next to nil and I received my test in less than 5 minutes after I arrived, this test center was 5 STARS. Now I think Project Baseline is gone and now Quest runs this test center. You'd think Quest would know how to do this by now. But they don't. Due to the nearly 50 minute wait time and the surly attendant, I rate Covid testing here at 1 star. Last week I purchased a bag of needles I needed for my dog's insulin shots. I was told at the pharmacy that they can only sell one bag at a time per day. Yesterday, my husband went to buy another bag and was told he needs a prescription (not true). Not knowing the laws in CA, he called our vet to have them send a prescription. When he went back later, they claimed they don't have a fax, so it's not possible that our vet sent it to them. I drove to Rite Aid downtown SR, they didn't have either. Thankfully, we found elsewhere. The people in this pharmacy need to learn our laws. An adult over the age of 18 can purchase any amount of needles the want without a prescription. If they want to limit one bag per person due to supply/demand, that's their choice. However, a prescription is not required!! Terrible service yesterday!!! read more

This is a great change from having issues at Walgreens every time I went there. Rite Aid has been reasonably efficient. Sadly, all pharmacies appear to be understaffed. They still need to improve the website as it is disorganized and difficult to prepay for your prescriptions. I wish all the pharmacies would improve their texting and web presence. read more

This is not the first time the stuff at this pharmacy have been infuriating, but our most recent visit has pushed me to actually write a review. Summary: terrible customer service. The pharmacist here is incredibly rude. They have two lanes for their drove thru pharmacy, Drop Off and Pick Up. No other signage We were dropping off and pulled into that lane. When no one came to the speaker, I pressed Call. When still no one came, I pressed call again. The female pharmacist came to the window and said to us "We don't do anything in that lane, so I don't know what you are doing." I was a bit stunned but explained we were dropping off, and she reluctantly send us the tube to drop off the prescription. She then asked us when we wanted to pick up the prescription and we asked her when it would be ready. Her response? "I don't know." No further information. How on earth was i supposed to answer your question then??? I drove away so angry and will never be using this pharmacy again. You shouldn't either. read more

I would have given a 5 star rating 1 year ago, but now 3 is generous. I love the drive thru, and the pharmacists and Candi are great. But it is much more difficult to get prescriptions filled now. The pharmacy doesn't answer the phone; I am not notified by text when a prescription is ready-- I have to show up in person to find out if it's ready. And sometimes it isn't!! I realize there is an employee shortage and I'm trying to be patient. But can you at least fix the system that informs people when prescriptions are ready? read more

Awful awful awful. Had a Covid test on October 3 and still no results two weeks later. This is after the people at the drive in were also so nonchalante with no clue what was happening. Just not into their job and just making it known they hate being there. The company really needs to do something about their culture or else just give up and shut down. Shameful that I still don't have my Covid test results. Thank god I went the next day as a precautionary measure to One Medical to get my test done and my results back in time to take my flight. Don't plan on going to rite aid during store hours to get fresh scooped ice cream because they might be defrosting the freezer! Very disappointing. I drove all the way over here to get some ice cream and their ice cream freezer is being defrosted!!! Initially, I directed my hatred of all other drugstores toward this Rite Aid. And it can be a bit grim. But under the surface, it actually is better than the other hellish offerings (Walgreens, CVS) in Marin. First of all, the layout of the store is... unorthodox. The main aisle shoots through the store at an angle, then switches direction halfway through, which makes the entire experience of shopping there more surreal, but not in a bad way. Secondly, I have had multiple scripts filled here, and have never had a problem. The pharmacy staff are professional, if a bit slow. Other reviewers rave about the low booze prices, which I will have to investigate. The negative side? The checkout people are characteristically grim and miserable. I was rung up by one checker who looked and acted like she was coming off a 3 day meth binge. She was shakily scanning my items while yelling to another checker that she was gonna kick so-and-so's ass for being late to work. Next time I come here, I'll be the one wearing headphones blaring House music so I can rise above the mayhem. read more

This store is very convenient for me, It's close to my job. I always stop in to check for items that are new in the cosmetic section. It's always stocked, wish is great compared to other stores. Cheep boozes! Really, there is no better booze bargain to be found. They rotate what's on sale, but you can always find some good, staple booze at a good price. Aside from that, this store stocks so much stuff, it's kind of mind boggling. They have snack foods, cleaning products, fishing gear, prepaid cell phones, cameras, books, patio furniture, hardware, flip flops, condoms, toothpaste. Really, just about anything you need for a good time. Theoretically, if you had a prescription for some sort of opioid pharmaceutical, you could bring it here to be filled and, while waiting for the pharmacist, stroll around the store and pick up some pine sol, a mop and mop bucket, a camera and film, some tequila, beer, beef jerky and gatorade. Go home, party like a big dog. Take pictures of your revelry. Overindulge and become sick. Clean up your mess with your new mop while rehydrating with the gatorade. Then return to the Rite Aid and have pictures developed of your bacchannalia an hour or less. This is that kind of store! read more

INCOMPETENCE, INCOMPETENCE, INCOMPETENCE. I previously gave Rite Aid 5 stars, when I USED to love this pharmacy, especially when Laura, Jason and a few other great employees worked here. As a customer for more than five years, I always appreciated how the staff went overboard to help solve any issues and ALWAYS made the customer a priority. Not anymore. 1. This morning I was told I cannot refill my daily medication because my insurance would not allow it based on "refill too soon". I explained to the pharmacist why it was a bit early (issues the prior month with insurance coverage delayed the pick up by two days, forcing me to use twice my other medication resulting in running out early, but have never had any issues when this has happened before, 1-2 times a year) and said I would call my insurance to make sure they would cover it and would call them afterward. 2. After spending over an hour on hold and talking to my insurance, they assured me the RX was covered and able to be filled TODAY.(They only allow three days early max) 3. I called pharmacy and updated them...only to be told It isn't my insurance holding it up - but their computer stating it's "too soon" and reminded me it's a "state law" that Rx's cannot be filled prior to 30 days.......BUT....then added that if my Dr. called to approve, they would fill it. 4. I spend another hour trying to reach my Dr. and told he would call me back. Another hour passed until he called me and after explaining he said he would call to approve it. 5. Thirty minutes go by and my Dr. calls me to say that after talking to the same pharmacist, then a second pharmacist, they both said my RX could NOT be filled today. My Dr. was confused and frustrated as to why, when it made no sense to him either...but they told him they had agreed to fill "forty eight hours early". 6. I call Rite Aid back yet again and reiterate that it's been exactly 27 days since I picked up my medication and even though both the insurance and my Dr. agreed I should be allowed to pick it up today, since they agreed to fill "forty eight hours early" I was picking it up first thing tomorrow. 7. The Pharmacist that since the computer said the fill date was four days from now....he couldn't override it adding for the umpteenth time "state law". Four days from now is day 31....so I asked again for the Pharmacist to literally COUNT the days. (It was clear he didn't) 8. But after saying he had counted the days he says "Oh...You don't include the actual day you pick up your medication .." I pointed out that even by not counting that one day - it would STILL make tomorrow the day it should be refilled - but he continued to argue -insisting- on the computer calculations, even as I kept reminding him the computer has made a MISTAKE; PLEASE COUNT THE DAYS ON THE CALENDAR!!! 9. Only then did he actually count them, out loud, finally proving I was right and the computer was WRONG....but then only agreed to the day after tomorrow.....which STILL doesn't make ANY sense since that it day 29. So the incessant mantra of "I can't override the computer and its state law" are now instantly 100% invalid excuses. UPDATE: After a reminder call about an MRI I had scheduled, the day before they would "release" my medication, I was informed I had to remove my patch (something Rite Aid failed to warn me about) so I required a new patch, one that I did not have. I called Rite Aid and explained, offered to let them call the MRI facility to verify, but after another long hold, they once again refused citing "state law" but added that if the insurance called they may be able to do something. I called the insurance for the third time and not only did they agree to call, but were confused as my RX had already been processed as a "paid claim" and forwarding to their investigation team to research the "state law". They called and the pharmacist now denied saying they needed to call. They stood behind "state law" and according to the agent, they were rude and did not want to help. The agent said their investigative team told her that it was "pharmacy discretion" and NOT "state law" now that they were aware that I would be out of medication after my MRI and were filing a formal complaint, asking if I wanted to join - um - YES. When I finally went to pick up my Rx, I was told I had to wait 15 minutes to process it, after it had already been fully processed, I spoke with an attorney and he is filing legal action against the staff and Rite Aid Corp. for harassment and ignoring CA Pain Patients Rights, which are the ONLY valid "state laws" in this entire situation. read more

I had to come here with my 12 year old son to get a covid 19 test because a kid in his classroom tested positive so school called me on Thursday afternoon to tell me he had to quarantine for 10 days without offering school on line, or he could have a test done on Saturday if he wanted to return on Monday. On Saturday we went for the test, as for Monday 3 pm still waiting for the results, I called and they haven't processed his sample yet. They couldn't tell me how much longer I have to wait. So here he is 3 days with no school after over a year waiting to get back to full time school and because Rite Aid takes forever to give the results my kid has to sit at home. I know I could have gone to another company pay $200 and get the results in 15 minutes but school should pay for that not me. My kid didn't get infected. At least school should provide access to online school while he has to sit at home. Bottom line: Do not trust Rite Aid for covid tests if you need the results fast! read more

This is a great place located outside the mall to get a few of those random items that you keep forgetting when you are at other stores. The aisles are reasonably spaced for this type of store as well as organized. This happens to be one of those locations where they have enough check out employees on the weekends. It has a convenient pharmacy drive-through. Usually I go here in the mornings and never have to worry that what I want isn't in stock. I also appreciate their discount seasonal items. I like to buy their large planter boxes when 75% off in late summer as well as their Halloween decor. I prefer Rite Aide in general over their competitors, Walgreens and CVS. This site in particular is very welcoming with friendly cashiers and helpful workers. read more

There is a terrible problem, with the pharmacy, personal, at this pharmacy. They are a pharmacy, not a police, Dept. If you come, to this pharmacy, with muscle relaxers, sleep aids, or, pain pills, this pharmacy, may report you, to a federal database. If they offer you, a partial, fill for any, of the above, meds, decline, and, take your business, else where. CVS, also, will report you, to a federal, data base, for the above, kind, of meds. So, if you take, the "partial fill", you will not, get, the remainder, of your, medication. Caveat Emptor. read more

I'm a sucker for stores like Rite Aid and Walgreens. All these 24hr stores with aisles of hair products I don't need and candy should all be banned, but alas... I still love them. This Rite Aid in particular is pretty cool. They have a mini gardening section with outdoor plants and pots for sale. It's always super quiet and clean when I go which makes it all the more easier for me to walk around aimlessly when I am bored. I honestly drive to this Rite Aid because it's so big and there are lots of cheap things to buy instead of walking across the street to the noisy Rite Aid that doesn't carry graham crackers when I need them. read more

I bought prenatal vitamins 1 month ago for 24 dollars and returned them. They gave me 8 dollars without a receipt. I went to see how much they are charging for them.... 18 dollars!!!! I love this rite aid and pharmacy. I have been coming for 5 plus years because of the pharmacy staff, Hank and his manager before him (forget her name). The store is super clean, always well stocked and I easily go 3-4 times a month to pick up this or that. I get great service and many of the staff know me by name. I have never encountered a problem and if occasionally there is a minor something, it's taken care of right away. Too many People are too critical these days and demand service immediately as if they are the only person on the planet. Funny, they always also seem to be the ones who have trouble at stores. I'm always at this Rite Aid location probably 3 times a week because I work so close to it. I've never had an issue until today. I took my little sister to go get ice cream and a 5'1 Hispanic lady with black wavy hair attended my sister and I. I ordered my sister 2 scoops of ice cream and she criticized my sister by saying multiple times that she was fat and she didn't need to eat ice cream and if she did, it had to be a little scoop. I'm completely disgusted by the associates words and will NEVER come here again I will also be telling all my coworkers and my friends to never shop at Rite Aid again.
