I'm in an eight and a half-year long-distance relationship with Rituals. I have been buying my face and body soaps from here since July 2013. And I lived in New York, now SF. The sandalwood goat's milk soap is the only cleanser I'll use on my face. Their soap formulation is why I'm always looking younger than my age. I buy other goat's milk soaps and vegetable soaps for my body - all moisturizing. Their oil blends smell divine, but I haven't indulged in one yet. I used to visit every now and then in person when visiting my sister, but mainly get everything shipped to me. Ok forget about Schwoomp or any of those over-priced fancy pants soap shops that think installing wood flooring and sprinkling sawdust around means they can charge $10 for a bath bomb. Rituals sells home-made soaps and beauty products that are seriously SERIOUSLY amazing. This is the most amazing soap shop in the twin cities and it's for two obvious reasons: SUDS: The bar soaps are the suds-y-est soaps I have ever used in my whole entire life. What I mean is that they have so much lather that they last forever and you always feel extra-clean. No re-soaping your loofah halfway through the shower. I dont know how else to explain how important suds-y-ness is, but I didnt know it was that big of a deal until I got addicted to these soaps. I was actually impressed with the amount of bubbles and suds that were flowing off these bars. Regular sized bars are $5 and gigantic bars are $9.They all go on sale 2-for-1 every month or so--watch for the sale tables to come out before you go too crazy and buy up the whole store. SMELLS: The soaps have the most delicious scents I have ever experienced. They aren't the chemically artificial and overpowering smells like at Bath & Body Works. It is more subtle and you can choose from earthy scents to more fruity and flowery options. My favorites are cherry almond, honey almond, and pink sugar. They just have this sweet/nutty aroma that make me feel really clean and awake. Also, if you are on a "save the planet" kick like everybody else and their mom, you will be glad to know these soaps use all-natural ingredients made from the owner's very own home garden. All the colors are naturally added using food and plant ingredients and even the exfoliating soaps are made with natural materials like oatmeal and sugar. I thought I was done but then I remembered they have great face bars that are sensitive for the skin on your face and smell so refreshing it is enough to wash the sleepy away. While I'm not that far gone (yet), Rituals makes it easy to get really quality bath and home products in scents that I love. I could honestly spend hours (and in total, I probably have...) standing at Rituals' counter smelling their fragrance oils. They do a really good job of listening to your scent preferences and makes recommendations. I once mentioned that I was into more masculine-leaning scents and was encouraged to try Brooklyn, which is amazing. Today I was told to try Ambar since I am on a sweet amber kick lately and it's absolute PERFECTION on my skin. Their bath salts (the kind you actually want) are really fragrant and soothing and their hand lotion will help you stand up to these Minnesota winters while smelling delicious. Everything is really reasonably priced too! And the more oils you buy, the cheaper they are. 5 oil roller-balls (which you can easily carry with you and will last a looong time, even if you are a slatherer like I am) will cost you $36. That's what - a half to a third of a mainstream alcohol-filled perfume! Go there and you will leave with something that will make you smell fabulous. My husband and I walked by this place a couple weeks ago and I was pulled in by, not only by the smell/s, but by the smile on the owner's face. I had to go explore. After lingering in the smallish space, I decided to ask for some advice: I had some perfume oil that I wished to replicate, but had had no luck finding anywhere. (I had purchased a small vial in Grenada Spain.) The owner rose to the challenge immediately and was amazing to observe in action. She took in the aroma with steadied breaths and even jumped up and down a little to "knock it into her senses." (My interpretation anyway.) She ended up concocting two seperate vials to produce the same scent! I was utterly impressed by her astute understanding of aromas. I look forward to my next meeting with Rituals! read more

I have been happy with the products I have purchased until yesterday when I purchased a Bamboo scented shea butter hand cream. There was no sample available, so it was purchase made based on smell. When I tried the hand cream last night, I was overpowered by the scent and realized I could not use it. When I called today to see if there was chance to exchange the product, I was advised that they have a "no return" policy on used items, although they would be willing to take $1 off my next purchase. I dont live in MN but I was visiting a friend and we went to the global market to do some shopping when I ran into Rituals. I purchased some items that I was really happy with. I thought the owner had a great presence about her and I literally wanted to stay and smell everything she had however the reason why I gave it 4 stars was that I wanted to purchase more items but her website was down. I had a difficult time trying to find a number for her. In the end I was able to buy something by phone but if I cant see what you're selling then I cant buy it. read more
