Stopped in for a quick visit with a friend. I'd never tried Rivas and had wanted to. The steak nachos were pretty tasty! We shared them, large portions so you can definitely share it. Well, as of the other day when we went there they got rid of the self serve hot sauce and have started charging you for sauce cups. Their food is very good, but the burritos are already quite expensive and adding the necessary amount of sauce puts it at about $20 a person. Taco night sounds pretty good until you realize you're paying twice the advertised price to get the necessary 2 sauces per taco. It was already hard to rationalize paying their prices but now having to add on $4.50 per burrito just for sauce rules out coming back here. Bummer! read more

I am pregnant and wasn't feeling well and wanted to get something simple to feed my family. I purchased 15 tacos and applied a tip on my card. I went to get some salsa and the containers were almost empty. I barely filled 4 little containers of the green sauce. Waited a few minutes and my order was ready. They wrapped each taco in yellow paper. Once I got home I opened a couple tacos and they were so thin there was hardly any chicken in them and had more lettuce than anything. I was super disappointed!! I usually go to the one by my work and they are stuffed with chicken and they put 5 tacos each in a styrofoam container. Best Mexican food in Vegas. My daughter stumbled on this little place one evening. Tostadas are not on the menu but if you ask they will make one special for you. Probably my favorite spot for chicken tacos in Las Vegas. Reminds me of how we make them back home. I typically go on Wednesdays because of the $1.99 crunchy chicken taco sale. This week they were 99¢ and tasted even better. Fed me and a coworker for less than $10. I've also had Rivas' shrimp burrito and chicken nachos. Superb as well. But I'm addicted to the chicken tacos. The lady at the cash register is always friendly and patient. She always knows what my wife order. She knows over the phone or even if I'm there and order for her. Store is always clean. Gotta say, it's smart to bring in the experienced staff to ensure your opening goes smoothly. Rivas Fans will appreciate that the menu is the same, so you can order your regular dishes and they'll turn out just right. My carnitas burrito with cheese was exactly like the one I get regularly at the Desert Inn location. For those unfamiliar with the local chain, the prices are low and the menu is massive. Quality is better than other similar Mexican food spots but my standby choice here (besides the burritos) is the fajitas, while another friend swears by their fish tacos. I've been wanting to try this spot for a while. I've had a couple UberEats picks from Rivas. My wife ordered 2 chicken tacos, the cashier said it comes with pico de gallo, I asked for lettuce, cheese and sour cream instead. I got the receipt and it was an extra $1.50 charge for "custom item". I didn't see sour cream on the receipt and my wife didn't see it on her taco so I paid extra $1.50 for lettuce and cheese? I ordered 1 chicken taco and 1 shrimp taco comes with pico and guac which is a plus because guac is usually extra anywhere. I asked for an order of fries after I said what my wife wanted and then gave my order and asked how big is the order of fries because some restaurants let you buy 2 order of fries and you'll get so many fries you only really need to order one and share them. He showed me the container, I said yeah give me 1 order of fries. The order took about 10 mins, I got my order and left, I didn't look in the bag (my mistake). I get home and no fries but when I looked at the receipt they didn't charge me so I'm not that mad. These are normal size tacos but they were really good. I'd definitely come back. I may sound cheap but if I'm going straight home to eat tacos, I will just add the extras myself. I got all the extra toppings at home anyway lol. read more

Ordered 2 chile relleno dinners through grub hub. Each meal comes with 2 chile rellenos and refried beans and rice. I received a single burrito delivered. I immediately called the restaurant and they admitted their mistake and said they couldnt do anything about it. They told me to contact Grub hub for a refund. I immediately contacted Grub hub and they contacted the restaurant. They initially wanted to refund me for only one item as the restaurant informed them I had received one item although it wasnt what I ordered and certainly didnt know what it was! It took some convincing and sending a picture to grub hub to prove it. And now we still have no dinner! Grub hub thankfully refunded the full meal price minus the tip ( but it wasn't the driver's fault- so understand this). Rivas answer was to drive there and reorder. No thank you! I really loved Rivas in Carson City, but absolutely wont return here! Bad service all the way around. read more

But then the burritos get here and are packed with so much flavor and needless to say I scarfed the entire thing down. The pastor was juicy and rich. We were really blown away by this place! The day before we had ordered from another mexican restaurant and were not very impressed. Rivas definitely turned our mood right around and we spent just about the same amount of money. Our order consisted of a chicken quesadilla ($8.84), 2 piece chicken enchilada combo ($6.50), a shrimp taco ($2.85), a steak taco ($2.85), the wet carnitas burrito ($6.70) and an 8oz order of rice and beans ($2.50 each). Everything was delicious! My favorite would be their shrimp taco and chicken enchiladas. Everything was seasoned well and they didn't hold back on sauce or cheese. And it's always a plus when you order something for delivery and they actually include utensils and napkins (I can't tell you how many times I order delivery and the restaurant does NOT include these little things). There's a gal that works there used to work for Roberto's she is amazing what a team together..i went in last night ordered 40/50 dollars worth of food from some gal i've never seen .. She treated us like dirt.. Took 20 min to get our food no one else in there. It was hot in that place so i asked her if the ac was out.She told me no i was the only one who has complained about so it must be me .. lol i'm ok..That gal was wiping her brow sweating but whatever ..
