Peanut butter burger with pepper jelly

We received a 30 min wait so we went to the bar to order a drink and fried zucchini while we waited, which was delicious. We sat down and weren't given peanuts but honestly didn't need them with our app and the rest of our meal. All of us loved our burgers and wow those onion rings were massive! The petal sauce is a bit heavy on the horseradish but the ranch was amazing! Our waiter was great and let us know that they are pretty empty during lunch but crazy packed at dinner as a heads up!

Always a must stop in North Myrtle Beach!! Definitely has a dive restaurant feel. The burgers are absolutely fantastic!! When I can get Doritos on my burger it's going to be a winner!! They have so many options as well. The onion rings are enormous!! The service is always quick and friendly too.

This place was amazing. The service was great and the food was too! Of my family of 7, we all enjoyed our meals. Definitely recommend!!

The best burgers in the state along with those famous onion rings (period). We started with fried mushrooms which put everything over the top. Very casual and laid back spot adjacent to Barefoot landing.

The hamburgers are always delicious at River City! Attentive staff, quick seating and order, drink refilled without me asking. It was a great experience and is consistently good. *Avoid if you have a peanut allergy.

    Carolina Chili Burger

The atmosphere is unique with graffiti and license plates for decor. The lights use colored bulbs and outdoor seating is available. We sat for about 10 minutes before our waitress ever came to the table, but this is suspect of the hostess not letting her know a new table had been sat. Other than the initial wait the service was to par. If you're looking for something other than burgers or chicken sandwiches, this is not a place for you as the menu becomes very limited without those options. The food wasn't cold, but also not as warm as we would have hoped. The Carolina Chili burger lacked flavor, while the Jerkin' Chicken had flavor it was a bit rubbery. The French fries are "hand-cut", but served way too soggy. This is not at the top of my recommendation list, but if you're hungry enough and want something a little different later in the evening it is an option.

If was a very weird interaction. Pub bar style atmosphere like a lower end Texas Roadhouse. Some things started off really good like the chicken wing apps and the French fries. Other things started good and ended bad like the buffalo chicken sandwich. By mid way through it started tasting like tap water and actually made my stomach hurt. The other good thing was it was very cost effective although is it worth if for the stomach issues?! But I was the only one so maybe wasn't just me. I don't want to leave a bad review when it wasn't all bad but it definitely wasn't a home run. Approach with caution.

    Decor

The location is next to some dumpsters and smells really poorly. When you enter, there is a strong scent of urine. Someone else has to know this or have smelt it. Something needs to be done. The building is unique but truly needs a good cleaning. Tables are sticky, menus are sticky, dust in everything including decor hanging above you. Burger isn't fresh, cooked and held then made to order. It's like a good idea that didn't land. Not going back.

Love all the writing on the wall. And you can take your drink cups always a plus.

The gentleman taking our order whom we are also met with when picking up was super nice. The establishment is actually much larger inside than it appears from the outside. They have a little bar area when you first walk in or you can get some alcohol and then tables in the back. Looked clean and inviting. After just a couple minute ride home sadly half our meal was cold and quite un appetizing. The cheeseburger was still nice and warm, the cheese steak had a good amount of meat, cheese and pepper and onion ratio and was also warm and quite good. The chicken wings delicious. The mozzarella sticks were so so as they were not in their typical breading, but I believe a beer batter, which gave it a little bit of a unique taste. They were however, cold as were the onion rings, which had a lot of potential and the fries. We did not eat them, but instead heated them up in the air fryer the next day and were able to enjoy them in that way. They would probably have decent if we were to eat at the actual restaurant, but I wouldn't pick up from here again unless I was just getting a burger.

This Thursday I was heading up with the wife to buy some fish and we decided to go for it. Of course there was zero parking with a parade of cars in the parking lot waiting to pick up food, when my wife noticed a pick up truck right in front of the place about to exit. She sped right next to the spot and jumped in before anyone realized it. We're in...or so I thought. We strolled up and there were about 35 people sitting on benches and rocking chairs under a tent right in front of the place all waiting to get in. I figured this is not going to be easy. I went up to the hostess station and asked how long for a table for two and she said 35 minutes or so. I looked at my wife and gave her my name. I had to find out what all the hub bub was about. In about 30 minutes they shouted my name and I sprinted to the front door...I wasn't about to lose my table. In we went and we're shown a nice size table in the middle of the place. It kinda reminded me of a beachy mom and pop diner. The friendly waitress came to the table right away, gave us our menus, showed us the specials board and took a drink order. The menu was simple but had some choices on it. While we were thinking, she came back with our drinks and we quickly ordered an appetizer. In this case, onion rings. A few minutes later my wife settled on a crab cake app and a salad which she asked to be combined. I went for the soup of the day(NE clam chowder) and one of the specials...pork chops(I took my grilled not fried) with 3 sides, Lima beans, okra & tomatoes stewed and green beans. The meal came with a choice of cornbread or roll. I opted for the cornbread. In a flash, the onion rings came out followed by the soup. Now I do love me some onion rings and these were fantastic. Crispy, flavorful and not stringy. The soup was home made. Creamy with bits of clam and chunks of potato. No salt or pepper was needed as it came out steaming hot and perfect. It was a meal in itself and I ended up taking 3/4 home with me(something rarely do). After a few minutes, the main course came out. My wife dug into a very large homemade crab cake, chock full of crab meat and very flavorful. She loved it. The salad was fresh and crisp. My pork chops came out and the size of the plate shocked me. Now, I almost never talk about price but my plate was $12.49 and I got two large perfectly prepared, juicy pork chops with a healthy helping of the best okra and stewed tomatoes I ever had plus absolutely delicious green beans and tasty lima beans. What a deal! The only thing that wasn't above average was the corn bread which was a tad dry and plain. Most of the regulars opted for the home made roll(and the fried chicken which was being served at every table!). I was stuffed and had trouble finishing my plate. My wife who said she was full, managed to save enough room for dessert. Now everyone was eating the homemade peach cobbler so I suggested that. My wife never had it before and was thinking about the Oreo pie, but I persuaded her and she was glad I did. Instead of the usual whip cream she wanted vanilla ice cream with it and it was a fantastic combo. The cobbler came out piping hot and crumbly with sweet chunks of peaches that paired well with the cold vanilla ice cream. She attacked it so fast that I couldn't get a picture. I broke my own rules and dipped in for a few spoonfuls and I'm glad I did. It was heavenly. The bill came and I couldn't believe how reasonable it was. Now I know why you can't get into the joint. We paid our bill and gave the super friendly waitress a nice tip and were on our way. We will absolutely be back and will try to time it a bit better so we can find parking...or we'll take an Uber...it was that good.

The place is comfy, without being oversized. The staff is upbeat and very pleasant. We arrived for a late lunch, early dinner. No I do not remember our Server's name, but I'm sure that is my fault for not concentrating when she told us. But I do remember she was a tall thin build lady, with very dark long hair. (Hope this helps). She understands service, and how to take care of her customers in the extreme heat. As she approached our table, she already had two glasses of ice water. . We placed our drink order. Now remember this place is a Brewery and Pub. So they did not carry a full line bar. But they have all of the basics. So the wife got her Rum with Pineapple. And I had their Citra Ass Down IPA. Both were tasty. The beer had a mild citrus flavor but not overwhelming. While perusing the menu, the wife saw they had a fresh pretzel, and she was sold. Something about a hot salted pretzel that just makes her happy. It came with a beer cheese dip, and a mustard dip. Do yourself a favor. Ask for a second mustard dip. That stuff is addictive. For our main course, she had the wings. BBQ sauces with Ranch. I had the Chicken Shrimp Po Boy with their in-house chips. We would order both again. The wings were large, juicy, and had the right amount of sauce. I would say closer to a glaze on them. My Po Boy was full of well seasoned meat. And had very fresh greens on it. And a nice sauce the complimented, the meat. It didn't cover or overpower. In addition, I am not a toasted roll person. Our Server let the Chef know, and they did not toast my bread. (You'd be surprised how many times I have asked that my bread not be toasted. And how many get it wrong) And to top a really good experience, the owner (a Marine) came out and talked with us for a few minutes. We aren't special. Just a couple of middle aged semi-retired dog lovers. But he took the time to come out and have a conversation. Not just check on his people or business. If you are at Broadway At The Beach, and want something non chain and different. Give this place a try. We will be returning.
