Well worth the less than 5 minute detour from the freeway! If you're looking for real food on the way to or from Cali to the River, make sure you stop here. We did have to eat in the car (thanks-no thanks Covid) but the service was awesome and the bathrooms were clean! Huge bonus. Now the food: we had cold subs because it happened to be 117 outside. I'd drive back to Needles just for this bread. These sub rolls were amazing. And their house dressing is fantastic. Consider buying a bottle just to drink. The deli meats tasted fresh and the lettuce was actually crisp. I'm not excited for my next road trip, but I'm pretty excited to stop here again. read more

We always stop in Needles, Ca on our way to and from Williams, Az. This was my first time ordering from River city Pizza. Had it delivered to the KOA campground right to our site. The whole place was clean, and the non stop flow of pickups told me it was gonna be good. I had been craving pasta and decided to splurge instead of sharing a pizza with the hub. I ordered the BURNT BUTTER PASTA, it was amazing. An upgrade to the family favorites of butter parm pasta. I also had a slice of the hub's pizza, the sauce is perfect as is the crust. Ok, if you're traveling to the Grand Canyon or back to LA, DO NOT waste your time at McDonalds or all other fast food places. Drive to this place and you won't be disappointed. First time here, we did a quick stop before going to visit relatives. On a budget with little ones, we ordered pizza so we can all share and brought down water bottles from our ice chest. One of the ladies working here yelled out from the cashier if we were planning on buying the water bottle, or if we were used to making are selfs at home and just got them from her fridge. We were embarrassed, and told her that we had gotten the water bottles from the car and asked her to check her cameras. We even told her she can look in our car and even went as far as to tell her that we can pay from bringing them in. I wish she would have came over to the table and asked but instead chose to ridicule our family. Won't ever be coming back here. Have never left a review, but this one was worth leaving. read more

Italian subs are to die for! Trust me on this, just get the 12"...hungry or not, you will eat the whole darn thing. What's crazy is that I've passed by this place at least 100x in the past two years and I've never been inside. To think, I've been missing out on all of this good ol' heart stopping deli meat topped on a perfectly toasted white roll with the shredded iceberg lettuce and dripping with some tasty sauce. Our neighbor actually recommended that we go there to pick up lunch and we are so glad we did. It was the perfect NYE hangover cure too...well, the sandwich, some caffeine and a nap, that is. Was told extremely busy. I explained they lost my business yesterday due to the 30 min on hold bs. Lmfao, this rude female was not only Rude but extremely Sarcastic. Needles is on the edge of the desolate Mojave Desert and gasoline is at least $2 higher per gallon than across the Arizona border. So we found this restaurant afterward as we were making our way back to I-40, driving slowly in the 100-degree heat. As far as I can tell, there's no river whatsoever in Needles, so I have no idea why they named their restaurant after one, but it's neat and clean and the AC is ON. I couldn't take yet another Subway sandwich. So pizza it was. Several locals were eating the lunch special, but it wasn't horribly busy on a weekend at noon. Service was very friendly and we got our pizzas in about 20 minutes and were back on the blistering road to LA. Pizzas were all freshly made with chunky, fresh ingredients and fluffy crusts. Very tasty and quick. The special is a good deal at $7.99, including a drink. Regular personal pizzas run $7-8. I posted some photos. If you're looking for a break from road food, this local stop checked out for us. *PS, thanks to a note from someone who obviously knows more about Needles than I do, I now know that I'm not the only entity that traverses the lonely wilderness between Austin and this desert city. This place is not taking COVID seriously. I was staying 1 night in Needles as I passed through, and was excited to get some good pizza. I called for takeout and when I arrived, I was shocked to see NOBODY wearing masks. There were no masks to be seen on the 4 people in the kitchen, and the 2 people at the registers were wearing masks on their chins.
