It felt like they were trying to take advantage of me rather than actually diagnose or fix the real problem. What makes this even worse is the unprofessional behavior online. This worker 'Debbie' of theirs regularly responds to negative reviews claiming that customers "never came in," which is completely false in my case. I absolutely DID come in, and saying otherwise is just a dishonest attempt to protect the shop's image instead of taking responsibility. Be weary of Al as well. He will sell his nice service and if you don't have the finances yet he will definitely pressure you. If this business was confident in their work, they wouldn't need to deny real customer visits or dismiss legitimate complaints. This kind of behavior raises serious trust issues. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. If you value honesty, transparency, and fair pricing, go somewhere else.

I have followed all service recommendations as I really want to make sure my car is cared for, and I have not regretted it. Recently I went in to get a regular mileage checkup, transmission fluid flush and oil change. Everything went according to plan except the tech forgot to reset the electronic component for the service reminder, so I called them to let them know I was bringing it back in. They apologized for the hassle. During the next 24 hours my license plate light had gone out, so when I went in for the service reminder reset, I asked them to please change out the bulb (I was quoted $27 by the office assistant which I thought was a lot for a single dinky bulb), but the wonderful office manager told the assistant who was helping me to waive that fee being that I had to come back to do the electronic reset which I really appreciated- that is great customer service!! I will continue to bring all my cars here.

Backstory: Boyfriend tried to show me how to change my oil on a Ford Explorer, and accidentally emptied some transmission fluid. He realized it immediately so I did not drive it and had it towed to a local car repair shop. I pulled in and he showed me my transmission fluid and told me my transmission was failing in 1st and 2nd gear and it would be $3,000 to replace it. Told me that he didn't think it would drive home. I didn't have the money immediately (SO glad I didn't), so I paid to have the transmission refilled and went home to panic. Made an appt with Bradshaw's in Portland, whom flipped and ran all diagnostics on the transmission and couldn't find anything wrong with the transmission and said it was running great for how high of mileage it is.

It's taken me two years to decide if I should write this review. I researched transmission shops…read morelong and hard before I went to Bradshaw's, based strictly on the great reviews (and yes, they ARE very nice people). My 2002 Pontiac Trans Am had been over revving, but losing power, as it downshifted to climb hills. A couple thousand dollars later, with multiple sensors replaced, Bradshaw's deemed it repaired. Unfortunately, it malfunctioned exactly the same way on my return home. When I took it back they decided it was the transmission (which we had always thought it would be). $2500+ later, the transmission was rebuilt. On the trip home, more codes came on. More sensors were replaced. In total I spent around $5000.00, ending up with a 24 month/25k mile warranty. Last week, exactly two months after the warranty expired, but with only 6401 miles on the new tranny, it began over revving on hills again, with the same loss of power. This time I took it to a local shop. They discovered in one hour of shop time that the speed sensor was not plugged in all the way, which tricked the transmission into shifting or not shifting. My bill: $86.00 (incl tax). Bottom line: It really makes me wonder now if I needed the transmission to be rebuilt. Or anything else done, for that matter.

They did the job and got the AC working for me but, when I went to pick it up, I noticed that the backup camera wasn't working. I informed the guy at the desk and he immediately started gaslighting me by insinuating that the camera going out was an intermittent problem that had probably been happening for a while. I told him that the camera had worked perfectly EVERY time I put the Tahoe in reverse ever since I purchased it until his shop serviced it that day and asked him to have the technician that worked on the vehicle undo whatever he did to make it stop working. After three "attempts" to fix the issue over several weeks, he gave up and admitted that they hadn't even tried to figure out the problem because he said that, by working on the AC, they hadn't came anywhere near the information center where the camera picture would normally appear. Through the entire process he continued to gaslight me by insisting that it had been an intermittent problem BEFORE I took it to them for the AC service. Bottom line; they never fixed the issue and I still don't have a working backup camera and now I have to find a new, reliable garage to service my vehicles.

I was already…read morestressed about the cost of the repair, but the way I was treated throughout the process made it even worse. I brought my car in on 4/20 for a transmission repair after being told the job would take about one week. At the time, there were no warning lights on the dashboard and no known issues other than the transmission. I also paid more than half of the quoted cost upfront. After a week passed, I had to reach out myself for an update. It took about a week and a half to get a response, and I was told the repair would be delayed due to an illness. I completely understood and was willing to be patient because things happen. On 5/1, I contacted them again to see if my car was ready for pickup and received no response until 5/8. By this point, I had already been given four different completion dates, all of which came and went. I simply asked for an accurate timeline because I was becoming frustrated with the lack of communication. Instead of receiving an update, I got an email from the owner's wife that I found extremely rude and unprofessional. I was told they could no longer do the repair and was accused of rushing them, which was completely untrue considering how long I had already waited beyond the original timeline. As a result, I had to pay to have my vehicle towed to their shop and then pay again to have it towed elsewhere so another shop could complete the repair. Throughout this experience, I was hung up on, repeatedly misled about completion dates, and left without clear communication. To make matters worse, when I finally got my car back on 5/15, multiple warning lights were illuminated on the dashboard that had not been there before. When I called to ask about it, I was told they hadn't touched anything that could have caused it. However, I had photos taken before the vehicle was towed to their shop showing that there were no dashboard warning lights at that time. Overall, this experience was disappointing, stressful, and costly. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this shop

They called a couple days later letting me know the engine was completely ruined and would cost too much for a replacement. Not one time did they apologize. Within these appointments, I experienced overbooking which resulted in them not even getting to my car, repeated delays due to parts, being left without my car for an entire weekend with no pickup option (even though my car was drivable w/o the heat/ac) and ultimately discovering that my camera and radio were no longer working after the repair, an issue they caused. When I returned to have that fixed, I also noticed I was charged for a part I never authorized, which they later acknowledged was an internal mistake and refunded. While I understand parts delays can happen, the lack of communication and consideration for the inconvenience caused was unacceptable. Although a small discount was applied when I asked for compensation, in my opinion, the amount did not align with the price I paid, the ongoing issues and unprofessionalism I experienced. I won't be returning to Arthur's and I can't recommend their services.
