The hotel

This hotel is a great spot for a Chicago visit. Very centrally located, great views (minus Trump tower), and amazing staff. Jacq and DJ on the night crew were wonderful with food recommendations and figuring out what to do and how to get around. When I eventually come back to Chicago, this will be where I stay.

Stayed there for one night. I booked the River Hotel but was assigned to a room in Club Quarters Hotel (CQ Hotel). It turned out to be the same hotel as the one I booked, just different names, as the latter was first built. My room was on 15th floor and had a great view of Chicago River. The location was also good: about 6 minute walk from State/Lake station and only 1 minute walk from the famous Michigan Ave. However, I was disappointed to know that the hotel adjust the temperatures of all rooms simultaneously. In other words, I could not adjust the temperature in my room by myself. This is really bad because different people have different preference of temperature. I ended up having a cold night! Not likely to book it again.

We stayed at the River Hotel for two nights, and absolutely loved it! We had a beautiful view from our room, and when we needed some air conditioning, we were quickly assisted by their amazing employee, Jock, who got us into a different room. The hotel is in a great location and is affordable! Highly recommend and I'm so thankful for Jock!

River Hotel, AKA (CQ) Club Quarters Hotel is located on E. Wacker Dr. near N. Wabash Ave. on the Loop in Downtown, literally across the beautiful Chicago River. The location is perfect! Short walking distance to everything such as the Riverwalk, Millennium Park, Willis Tower, and so many eateries. We stayed here one week and our stay was a pleasant one. The front desk was efficient. The housekeeping service was very prompt when I called, they responded quickly. We stayed on their 29th flr, which made it difficult to get the elevator during check-in/out times every day (so we gave ourselves extra time when leaving during those hrs). There's 2 elevators depending on which floor you stay on (so make sure to get on the correct elevator for your floor). We selected their 'Superior Queen Room', which had a beautiful view of the city, a work desk, a closet with ironing board, bathroom amenities, hair dryer, microwave, and minifridge. The room was on the smaller side, but it had everything we needed. On their 2nd flr, there's an 'Espresso' machine providing complimentary coffee 24/7 for their guests! Also, a living room set-up with plenty of seating and business center with a full sized conference room. They have complimentary water bottles so that you fill them up at the purified stations on floors 11-24. I really liked this because I didn't have to buy my own water. Overall, we had a relaxing and positive experience at this hotel and will definitely stay here again when visiting Chicago.

10/10!! This hotel is truly beautiful, when you walk in there is an instant feel of relaxation, comfort and luxury! The architecture, design and style was delightful, glad I took up on this recommendation. My room had an amazing view (photos attached). Everything in the room was neat, clean and easy to locate. Very spacious bathroom, and main room. Streaming services in the room were ideal. The water/water bottle stations located on select floors were very accommodating. Ronnie was phenomenal! He is someone I will always remember during this experience. Ronnie was helpful during the check-in process, room selection and at the end of the stay with checking my bags temporarily and getting a car. He and other staff members had great customer service! This hotel will for sure be on my list for stays when traveling to Chicago. It's in the heart, right by the riverwalk and in walking distance of great attractions. I had dinner at Ocean Prime right next door (great food) and was in a short distance from a historic Blues spot! I got excited all over again writing this review! Highly recommend.

This notification was posted at the elevators for our entire stay

I recently stayed at the River Hotel. I stayed for 5 nights in June and it was truly the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. First, right off the bat, at check-in the elevators in the hotel were down. While waiting to check in, I watched the manager and maintenance person manually open one of the elevators. They then placed signs in front of all of the elevators stating that they were out of order. Shortly after, they opened up one elevator, allowing guests to use it. I expressed concern about the fact that only one of four elevators were working and how could we be sure that the one working elevator was reliable if the other three had broken down. My concerns were immediately dismissed and I was told "ma'am, it will be fine". The one working elevator was not enough to keep up with the demand of all of the hotel guests and there was rarely room to get on it because it was so full (way over recommended capacity). As our trip went on, the one "working " elevator would not come to the floors when the button was pushed and guests had to call the front desk from the hallway to ask that the elevator be "manually" sent up to retrieve guests from their floor. Despite calling the front desk and asking that the elevator be sent to retrieve us on our floor it never came. Several times during our stay, we had to go up and down the 12 flights of stairs to get to our room. This was absolutely miserable, given the fact that it was the hottest weekend of the year and there was no AC on in the stairwells or hallways. Additionally, during our stay while sitting in our room, someone accessed our room with a key card and began to come in... We immediately screamed and the person shut the door and left. When we called the front desk, they said it was probably just a maintenance person... We advised that we had not called for a maintenance person and that the person tried to enter our door with zero notification and completely unannounced. The front desk did not see this as a concern, although we felt very unsafe after this occurred. I was denied speaking with a manager during my stay and called and left a message for a manager after leaving which was never returned. Last week I sent an email to management as well as to the hotels main email address and still have not been contacted. Not only did this hotel have extreme safety, security, and ADA violations/concerns, they have done absolutely nothing to make these issues right despite my multiple attempts to contact them.

First time staying here and I think it's a solid choice. Not overly amazing but better than some. The location is perfect though. You are super close to many restaurants, bars, shops and other attractions. If you request an Uber you are very close to most things so it won't cost you much. Upon checking in, I waited just a few minutes and they allowed me to check in early which I thought was fantastic since I was about 2 hours early. They have a coffee/expresso bar on the 2nd floor complimentary which is very nice too. Water is also provided at no cost. The rooms are okay. Again not amazing but simple. I had a room view of the city which was super nice. The heater is very loud though, I couldn't hear the tv very well due to it. That was kind of annoying. One other thing, I prepaid with the package that included parking. I assumed it was on-site parking but upon check in I learned it's several blocks away about a 10 min walk. My husband had a bad back and I wouldn't want to walk alone so I opted for valet inside. So essentially I prepaid for parking for nothing. I think they should be upfront that it's not onsite or valet parking you are paying for. Annoying. Otherwise I enjoyed the stay and due to the location I would probably stay again.

I stayed here for my birthday. The Chicago river view was nice. Checking in, there were no issues, the staff was helpful throughout the whole process. I liked the fact that there was an option for self park, in a garage that allowed in/out privileges. Although, it would have been helpful if the staff could inform you that the garage is about a 7 min walk....which is fine since I didn't have much with me. But imagine if you had all your luggage with you & the staff didn't inform you or offer to leave your stuff by the desk for you to go park the car. The room was a decent size and everything was good. I liked how there was a water station on the floor. I think that should be available at more hotels. I had found 2 dirty hand towels that were hanging on top of the shower when I was going to shower at night. Ugh. How can you miss that if you cleaned the room?! I called downstairs and they kind of brushed me off, didn't apologize but then said they would send housekeeping with new towels. I would stay again, but next time, I will have to inspect and go through everything right when I walk into the room.

Perfect location and the price was right. You are steps away from the River Walk and all of the downtown attractions. The espresso/ coffee machine on the 2nd floor was a nice touch. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. It wasn't a 5 star hotel or a 5 star experience but I don't spend much time in the hotel when I travel, so that stuff isn't important to me! I love visiting Chicago and will probably stay here again next time I visit!!

Great location but not worth what we paid...old and dirty. I felt so uncomfortable. Thank God I brought my own towels. Yes it was 1929. Staff standing around chit chatting..no uniforms..just young kids. My coffee pot didn't work...stay elsewhere...this place is not all that. Oh the carpet was dirty as hell. I personally cleaned room once I arrived.

I've stayed at many hotels in downtown Chicago and this one has a typical room, small in size no view, unless of course you have a room facing the River front. The bed was super hard, but comfortable pillows and quiet room. Small bathroom as well, however the water flow in shower was a good. The hotel did offer Valet parking or you can self park a few blocks away in a public parking garage which they validate down to a reduce price.

This hotel was located within the loop near the river, shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel rooms are basic and small. We were fortunate to get an upgraded room with two queen beds and an amazing view out the window of the city. The window was large and clean. The beds were comfy with ample pillows. Four pillows were provided. The hotel set up is a bit awkward. Room is best for one person as lacks storage for large luggage. Plus there is not a defined bathroom. The shower is within the bedroom. Fortunately the shower was frosted but you walk right into the bedroom so you must be comfortable with those you stay with. Plus the room does really have a deck and chair to work. The desk is a fold down from the wall. The chair for the deck is located on the wall and not really suitable for long term working on sitting as does not have a back to it. The best thing above this hotel are the staff. The front desk staff are super friendly and accommodating and aim to please. The bartender was super friendly and attentive as well. Lastly parking is not available right at the hotel. You have to walk two blocks. Plus parking cost 59 dollars and that's the discounted rate. Also not really a suitable place to drop luggage off. If you pull up to the front door, you are blocking traffic. Base on price of 400 dollars the night we stayed, I would say it's not worth the stay. Maybe it's worth 200 or less for Chicago.

Lady on the phone was rude, told me no and hung up on me mid sentence. I wasn't able to eat my share because well, it was LATE. Wife said her food simply wasn't good regardless. Something as simple as butter and jelly for the toast wasn't provided. Arrived back between meetings. Stood out front and in the lobby for over 15 minutes to try and give my keys to the valet attendant. No one was anywhere to be found. Wouldn't answer calls from the front desk. They finally took my keys then some dude chased me down saying they can't keep them and I have to keep waiting. Oh this made me LATE to my next meeting. $89 a day for poor performance was not worth it. I would 100% suggest parking yourself or a block over at London house. They always have 4+ attendants. Help with luggage and doors etc. oh and it's CHEAPER. We appreciated the room upgrade. The room itself was okay. It wouldn't get below 71 degrees and got upwards of 76 degrees during the day. While searching hilton.com for a hotel to stay at on the day of my birthday, Hampton Inn Majestic…read moreChicago Theatre District was the first to pop-up within Chicago. I want to say that I have had my eye on this hotel for a while now after looking for Hilton hotel locations with a peloton bike, which this one has. Other than that, I loved that the location of this hotel sits in the heart of Chicago, surrounding a plethora of activities which made it the perfect choice for hotel stay to celebrate. Okay, it was an experience going up to the lobby area to check in at this hotel, a blonde moment as I am known for if you follow my reviews. The lobby is located on the 4th floor, so be sure to choose "L" for the lobby because there is no 4th floor button listed in the elevator. Me and two other hotel guests had an adventure going up to the lobby area after trying to figure out where the 4th floor button was. My experience with the receptionist working behind the desk was nothing less than professional. Since my room was already booked through Hilton Honors, the only thing check-in consisted of was a verification of my information, a briefing on what is offered, and the receptionist giving me my room key. For your information, check-in starts at 4:00 PM and check-out ends at 12:00 PM! If you have the Hilton honors application, there is the opportunity to check in with the application, choosing your room, and receiving a digital key, which will allow you to go to your room contactless without seeing a receptionist upon your arrival. I have not used this method, but if you are interested in no contact whatsoever then you can use it with the Hilton Honors application. After locating and entering my room, I thought to myself this is fancy once I took notice of the design and interior color which appeared so elegant! There was a variation of vibrant colors in the room from its curtains to the headboard of the king-size bed, the carpet, and a gold chair that looked like something out of your grandmother's house. Out of all, I just could not take my eyes off the curtains which reminded me of cherry blossoms because of the colors. Inside the bathroom there were liquid products by Gilchrist & Soames Zero% attached to the wall. Throughout my travels, I have noticed that hotels have completely dealt away with the mini shampoo, bath soap, and conditioner products that made great travel hygiene additions. Along with those notable things inside of the room, it met my cleanliness standards. I had no issues whatsoever getting comfortable in the king-sized bed during my stay as my head was engulfed in between the comfortable pillows. While utilizing the shower, I really enjoyed the water pressure; its soothing pressure made me feel very cleansed during each usage. It was wonderful toggling with the spray patterns, with the addictive feel of the pressure hitting my face and body. Other things the room came with that I noticed were a comforter, an iron, ironing board, blow dryer, safe, comforter, a coffee maker (Hamilton Beach), a mini refrigerator, microwave, and USB and AC plugins attached to either the headboard of the bed, lamps, or the television cabinet, which added a nice touch to the room. And the Wi-Fi internet was easy to connect to and not once did I have any connectivity issues with it during my stay. Hampton Inn Majestic, as expected, had an exceptionally beautiful inner interior! As a fitness enthusiast, it was great having a fitness center onsite because it allowed me to keep up with my fitness routines during my stay. I must say that I was pleased to see several dumbbell weights, medicine balls, kettlebells, a decent selection of workout machines, and two peloton fitness bikes which charmed me out of my panties once I spotted them. And oh, honey did I enjoy it on my birthday with the lovely Hannah Frankson as my peloton instructor, who put my legs through torture during her low impact workout. Having the complimentary breakfast was a relief because I did not have to worry about finding a restaurant for breakfast in the morning. And I was highly satisfied with the quality of what was presented. It is served daily from 6:00 AM - 10:00 AM. For you all visiting the city of Chicago, there are plentiful sights, activities, and restaurants within a radius of Hampton Inn Majestic. As a resident, a few that I adore are Willis Tower, Millennium Park, and the Art Institute of Chicago! Next door is the CIBC Theatre, which I noticed upon my initial arrival at the hotel. And if you are looking to explore the city or outer part of the city, the Chicago Union Station, and CTA Train Station are very accessible to-and-from. I would surely book Hampton Inn Majestic Chicago Theatre District again due to my experience with it because the hotel met my comfort needs, and I loved that its location is within an accessible distance of things of interest in downtown Chicago. ~ Live every moment ~ Thomas G

The bed was massive, very comfortable, and just the right firmness. A detail that stands out is the space between the foot of the bed and the wall where the TV was mounted, which makes the room feel open and calm rather than cramped. The décor was elegant without feeling stuffy, highlighted by thoughtful touches like an espresso machine. The bathroom was another highlight: the frosted-glass window offered privacy while maintaining a sense of connection, and the rain shower had excellent water pressure and felt indulgent. The location is fantastic, convenient for work in the Loop, time in Grant Park, shopping on Michigan Avenue, or dining in River North or Fulton Market. During our trip, we ate nearby both nights, which made getting around easy and stress-free. The staff was warm and helpful throughout our stay, and breakfast at the hotel restaurant was memorable, even if the details are a bit hazy now. The lobby is beautiful, and several family members who stayed with us also commented on how much they enjoyed the hotel. The steak was gross. It didn't even look like steak that should be served. It was fatty and tasteless. I ate less than 1/2 the rice and 1/3 of the steak. I wasn't starving, so it wasn't a huge deal, but those who told me to avoid the bar area for food were right.

In 2025, I attended a floating pool meditation at the St. Regis Chicago. Solange, butler service,…read moreand house chauffeur provided exemplary service. Breakfast was stellar. It was an exceptional staycation.

I've been to Miru many times and finally got to try out the hotel for a staycation…read more Pros: -I loved that they had two restaurant options in the hotel. Both have incredible views but I would definitely recommend having at least one meal on the Miru patio if you are there during nice weather. -I was most surprised by their massive gym and has stunning views. It's also open 24 hours. They offered Pilates classes as well for an extra fee. -the hotel is brand new and all the finishes are so high end. The rooms are clean and quiet. The hallways are huge and felt like a maze to navigate but it also added to feeling of privacy. -there were so many high end details that made it extra special (the cozy Frette bath robes, welcome drinks, treat box in the room upon arrival, and the accent lighting in the room). -the location. It's just across the river from the heart of Michigan ave on the north end of a residential development. You don't feel like you are in the middle of the chaos of the city but the park, lake front and river are footsteps away. Negatives: -view was underwhelming ( fourth floor river view . Might choose the park view next time. I'd also recommend not facing the river as there was lots of honking/noise. -the room layout was awkward. They have this huge desk between the bed and tv. The full length mirror is a down a long hallway from bathroom/ where you would be getting dressed. -the room service comes on these huge heavy trays. The staff seemed like they were straining under the weight of it/ it was awkward. -I'd probably skip the spa/massage -$90/ day parking. Was able to do a spothero for about $40 next door.
