Staff was very helpful and friendly. The river was just wild enough for our crew. Loved that the price allowed us to text multiple times

They do sell waterproof bags there, but they're about $25. They normally have two different float routes. You're supposed to do the first one and then drive to the second. Unfortunately, we couldn't do the second float because there was an accident that had the road completely blocked for hours. The first float took us about 2 hours, which felt like a pretty good amount of time on the water. Depending on the water level, you may have to hop out of your tube in a few spots and walk it over some rocks because parts of the river can get pretty shallow. It all depends on how high or low the water is that day. Also, make sure you use the bathroom before you start and don't forget sunscreen. There are a lot of beautiful houses along the river, but remember to stay off private property. Overall, it was a fun time and I'd definitely come back again.

This course is around an hour float down the river with a few class II rapid sections. For most adults, it should be easy going as long as you know how to maneuver a tube or raft. For young kids, I'd probably tether the child's tube to yours. Our two kids, 7 and 9, did fine. But, we had to make sure they rode the tubes correctly. Cowboy Tubin's prices are less than competitors by $5/pp and the run is slightly longer. They have very clean indoor changing rooms and bathrooms. Much nicer than some other places. Also, very friendly staff.

The restrooms and changing rooms were spotless which is always a major plus in my book. Sometimes it's the simple thing and this one thing sold me on this company. The lady that we signed in with gave us a rundown of the river, what to expect, what to wear and what not to. She mentioned my hat and suggested not wearing it (which I agreed) then our sunglasses. What set her apart was the fact that she pointed out they sell sunglass retainers but if we didn't want to buy them they could tie some twine on them so we wouldn't lose them. That's rare, she had an opportunity to upsell us but didn't. Simply offered them then gave us a free option as well. As simple as it was, it was appreciated.

It had a coupon for $12 off!! We called on Tuesday night about 7:45 (they closed at 9) and talked to Teresa who was able to schedule our foursome for a trip at 2:00 on Wednesday. She was so helpful and gave us some tips for travel to Hartford. Once we got there we checked in with a very competent and thorough young lady. We took a short bus ride to the "put in" point. On the 10 minute ride some of the guides performed fun comedic routines which kept us from thinking about how hot we were on a bus with no AC ( except open windows), decked out in life jackets and helmets while holding our paddles upright. :-) We got paired with a river rafting guide named Brantley. He gave us great paddling instructions before we even entered the raft. Since we had all been river rafting before, he explained that the trick to having a more exciting trip is to synchronize your paddle strokes. We had a great time with Brantley. We truly appreciate his concern for our "fun factor" and especially our safe trip down the river.

They aren't as commercial as the other boats, so we experienced a more chill ride in my opinion. I heard some of the other guides hollering at their rafters, "paddle, paddle, paddle!"! I'm so glad this place doesn't employ drill sergeants lol This was my first time water rafting and I chose the level 3/4 route. I'm so glad I did because we were able to experience some amazing splashes! Yes, you will be drenched on this route, and I loved every second of it! You have to paddle, and I was paired up with an amazing group of 5 other people who I immediately meshed well with! If you're thinking about white water rafting, do it! I will say, I'm not the most adventurous when it comes to water, but there were 2 places where the water was level and calm that my guide let us jump out and swim. Again, I am usually not one to do something like this, but it was my birthday so I allowed myself to totally embrace the moment. The water felt amazing, and I had the time of my life!

Dennis welcomed my wife and I as soon as we walked in the door and after I explained my situation and target types of waters he took me straight to the perfect affordable setup. He expertly answered my questions and refrained from trying to upsell me to the readily available much more expensive options. Once we'd made our choices he left us to wander the store browsing. In the end I walked out with a nice rod and reel combo, a few extra leads and tippets and a big smile on my face. If you a tired of the big stores where they treat you more like money bags than fellow anglers, check out Little River Outfitters. It's well worth the drive and the personal and very knowledgeable service.
