This was not planned, or I might have skipped based on the Yelp reviews. But the stop simply coincided with a map location to watch the air show away from the beach. Then I saw the Chef special board and was like what is going on in here? The intrigue of the Miami wings and the tile fish taco special was too much for this foodie to pass up. I got a table within a minute or two and sat down on the beautiful dock side on a gorgeous day. We enjoyed all kinds of aerial acrobatics, two baby dolphins cruising around, but the real star was the food. I had a mahi-mahi Caribbean bowl that was simply outrageously flavored, it was definitely on the sweeter side, but I have no complaints. The Miami wings were a knockout, even though they were an entrée we had them as an appetizer. It was the perfect amount for two to share. I can only say that everything else on the menu at our table had fresh fish and was awesome. I definitely recommend this place for the vibe, which is sort of upscale beachy, and the best coastal dining menu without the prices of high rent locations in the city limits. This place got a 2 for ambience, customer service and making grits the right way. Its a shame to have the kind of place on the water, staff as happy and friendly as youd expect, but the food is not good. I don't know how else to explain, but you can tell when proteins haven't been "washed". There is a raw, gamey like taste that was present in the chicken wings, then again in the fish. It was to the point I could not eat it and my wife had to share her shrimp and grits. The grits were well attended to, stirred occasionally, seasoned well and very creamy. The shrimp was flavorful and it all paired well. The sauce on what I believe was called "miami" flavored, was good, but the chicken was not edible unless you would bite a chicken in the wild. We sat outdoors and had a view of the river. The service was fast, we ordered quickly and food came out in no time. I was taken back that my shrimp dinner was served on such a small and old looking plate. It looked odd. There was a stingy portion of rice and veggies. We went at dinner time but this appeared to be more of a luncheon special portion. There's no harm in improving their dish china quality to enhance the presentation. The mushroom potstickers were flavorful but again a surprisingly small portion. Another of our guests ordered an ice tea which was all ice cubes and a squirt of tea. The server should have recognized what they were serving. They also charged a service fee of some sort for the kitchen...really? Too many other places to try. Beautiful views and quality eating! Stopped in on a Monday around 6pm, seated at bar with immediate beer service. A few locals chatting it up with the bar tender and a dozen or so other people eating and/or taking photos on the dock as the sun set which was a nice vibe. The outdoor patio area at River Rocks has one of the best waterfront views in Brevard. There is a ton of seating available, but come early if you want a sunset view. The menu is pretty expansive with lots of salad, sandwich, and seafood options. I tried the Caribbean bowl with mahi and it was delicious! The mango salsa and coconut rice added a pop of flavor that balanced the other toppings. My partner tried the Caribbean salad with chicken which he loved, but there was a mix up in the kitchen and the chicken came out separately several minutes after. The restaurant building is beautiful, well-appointed, nice decor, classy, upscale. Linen tablecloths and napkins. The view is wonderful. Right on the river. Lots of windows so the view was nice even if not against the window. I expected road noise from US 1 as it is so close, and there was none. A very nice surprise. We were there for a financial workshop, so we had a seperate dinning area (alongside US 1) The presentation was great. Professional and informative. Our server did everything OK and yet seemed like she was not wanting to be there. Like it was a punishment or had to cover for someone else on her day off. IDK. The presentation plating of the food was elegant and perfect. The salad was perfectly proportioned and tasty. The servers seemed rushed. Kitchen staff plunked plates on the table. I ordered the sirloin and my guest ordered the fish. When they opened the doors to serve, you could smell the fish. As avid fishermen, we know what fresh fish should smell like. Fresh saltwater. It wasn't exactly spoiled but it was not fresh. We tried it anyway. The fish was dry as if it sat too long under heat. The sirloin was cooked perfectly medium rare. Again plating was perfect. The sirloin was chewey. I had to work on it. (I have all my original teeth) It did have some flavor but after chewing for some time, I had to remove the hard wads of meat from my mouth lining them up on the edge of the plate. Potatoes were OK for instant. A bit soupy for my taste. Maybe it was because we were at a presentation. But, with so many restaurants to choose from and from what I saw their usual prices were, I think we will wait until we hear that changes have been made before we go again. High points for atmosphere, low for the main dishes to make the 3 stars. I expected more. We were disappointed overall. read more

While visiting friends in the area, they recommended we check this place out--and I'm glad we did! We sat outside and ordered from The Dock Menu, which offers a casual vibe with covered seating and a nice view of the dock. The weather was perfect, and the relaxed atmosphere made for a great dining experience. Casual attire is totally fine for the outdoor area, but the indoor section has a more upscale dress code--something I'd love to try next time. The service was excellent, and our food and drinks didn't disappoint. We started with the crab dip. It was okay. I had the shrimp dinner with fries and vegetables. The shrimp and fries were perfectly fried and really tasty, but the vegetables could've used a bit more seasoning. My husband went with the chicken tacos and really enjoyed them. First time going here as we always just connect door to Grills. We were actually very pleased with the experience. The atmosphere was great and the service was awesome. The drinks were delicious as was the food. I recommend the Pina colada and coconut shrimp. Both hit the spot and had good quality ingredients. We went on Thanksgiving day. We sat inside and the view of the Indian River was beautiful. I haven't eaten here with their regular menu. The turkey dinner was a generous serving. 2 large slices white meat about 1/3 cup of dark meat , a scoop of mashed potatoes, about 1/2 cup of dressing. A tablespoon of cranberry relish, 3 ears of baby corn and a thin slice of ,I believe acorn squash. some gravy, and a small roll Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner $32.00 Burnt baby corn dry dressing salty Turkey breast Dark meat tasted old. This was my first time dining in the fancier area of River Rocks (inside) and I think I prefer the outside, more casual dining more! There are less food options in the restaurant versus the patio. I got the baked brie and an espresso martini. My friends got scallops and the tuna which looked amazing! Our waitress was great but there was another waitress that kept walking around with beers and spilling the beers on the floor. I would recommend for a fancy dinner night but if you're looking for something more casual I would recommend the dockside seating. read more

River rock is right on the water! If you want a dining experience right on the river, this is a great spot! We were greeted right away by a friendly host and brought to our table. Had to wait a couple minutes for the server, but we went during a rain storm so it was kind of busy. We ordered the Caribbean bowl which was pretty good. However, it was a little too sweet for my taste. However, the ingredients were really fresh and I was watching a bunch of other food come out, everything looked fantastic! This is my favorite restaurant (the inside side -- they have two kitchens and I really can't speak to the outside portion) This is the restaurant I take all my out of town guests to. Recently had an offsite for work (folks came in from out of state) and went here for dinner one night. It was everyone's (~12 people) favorite dinner of the week and we went to some great and iconic Brevard county eateries! My experience here was very disappointing. We spent $112 without drinks mind you and left hungry... They charged me for salad dressing, my salad was wrapped in zucchini so had no dressing inside only the edges and grated cheese for my bread, my husband ordered Prime rib and it was the size of an appetizer. Everything is alacarte, you think for that kind of $$ it would come with a salad and veg- Starch. Then charge us 3% service charge. When I asked the waitress she didn't know why either. Second visit to the The Dock at River Rocks, as some of you may know I always like to go twice before giving my thoughts. It's a great spot overlooking the River views to die for. My only issue the first time we went was the food was served almost tepid not even warm. Went with the wife and daughter I ordered the Jerk Chicken and rice, wife got the mahi and beans and the kid (she's 22 but still the kid to me) got the Chicken sandwich. Meals arrived and though a little better the rice was still barely warm !! why cant you serve food hot ? its not hard. Wife said her beans were very soggy as if they had not been drained, but the big issue was the kids chicken was RAW, seriously this was red in the middle. I spoke to the waitress who apologized and offered to change it, my daughter went for the pasta and shrimp. Come the bill time the waitress brought it and hmmm (is this me or do I have a point) the bill removed the chicken and replaced it with the shrimp and pasta which was $6 dearer. Now to me this is well wrong, no offer of discount no compensation of any form despite the possibility of food poisoning no they went one further and charged me more !! I could have lived with the charge for the chicken sandwich or the off of a free drink or as in nearly every other restaurant I have eaten in the emal was usually comped, but to ding me for more $$$ was the last straw. I didn't complain (should have) I paid the bill, again another pet hate its one of those cash machines where the tips start at 20% and go up and up and they stand over you while you pay, this is rapidly becoming my pet pieve. We left probably never to return, luke warm or raw food, poor customer service and extortionate tips. read more

Not my first time here, but will be my last. First things first. You have two choices, inside or outside. Outside: The ambiance is really good outside for drinks. Never liked the food outside. Inside: I normally come here to have a nice dinner with family or friends. Drinks were okay. Baked Brie was pretty good for an appetizer. We had three people get the special for the evening which is on the menu. Grouper was told it came with mashed potatoes and vegetable medley. One person substituted for coconut rice. All three came out with coconut rice. Not going to complain, ended up giving it to my wife for some of her potatoes. Grouper was okay. Not the best but definitely not the worst I've ever had. We also had the raspberry cheesecake. It was a scoop of cheesecake over a drizzle of raspberry. Taste was good but missed the crust for texture. As a local that eats out 99% of the time for all our meals. I'm not surprised by much and know what to expect from most restaurants. For a good onion crusted grouper around here you would expect to pay around $40 for the dinner. Give or take $10. I was shocked at the $83.00 for there grouper. That's not market price. Treating customers like that for grouper will run everyone away. Hence that there were only five tables seated during our entire dinner. I do not expect a free meal nor did I not tip our waitress well. Our meal was average and our bill reflected something that should have been outstanding. Our waiter was nice enough, very familiar with the menu and gave us his recommendations. We both took his advice for fish of the day. My husband asked to substitute the zucchini it came with, the waiter said the only thing he could do was double the rice. Okay no problem... the food came out and zucchini was on both plates and actually less rice on my husbands . The food was good, not amazing but flavorful and cooked well.
