I love this place and would highly recommend it. I gave it 4 stars because I was incredibly disappointed with the key lime pie--it had almost no flavor. I was also surprised by the quality of the silverware. The forks are so thin that they're actually uncomfortable to hold and can dig into your hand. We came across this place on our way to the beach. I'm glad we found it....mostly. The food was great....mostly. The fried fish taco so YUMMERs!!! Really delish and it has just the right amount of Cole slaw on it. The sauce on top was great too. We also had the snapper sandwich (fish #2). Delish. We had it blackened and it was perfect. A nice soft bun and a boom, great sandwich. Sorry, we forgot to take pictures. The not a winner was the oysters Rockefeller. Not great. Even the manager was like, we will take that off the bill. So don't order those. Bummer, they looked good. Our server, Summer, was awesome. She was on top of everything with a smile. Good job. The problem we had was the speed at which things came out. Had a fabulous dinner at Bunky's. Started off with oysters that were fresh and meaty. The fired calamari was good but a bit too much breading. The seafood gumbo was delicious as was the she crab soup not shown. The blackened fish tacos were very good as was the grilled fish special of the day. There was also a crab cake sandwich not shown that I was told was good. . The Ahi Tuna BLT in my opinion was the best meal of the evening. So good with the crispy bacon, fresh perfectly cooked Ahi tuna and seasoned just right. I would order this again and again. The homemade key lime pie I was also told was good but the fresh chocolate chips were spot on. I just wished they would have come out a little warmer but that's my way of eating them not everyone's. Service was super friendly. Great looking happy hour with discounted menu including some drinks. If I lived here this place would be my regular stop. My husband and I had such a great experience at Bunky's Raw Bar and Grill! From the moment we walked in, the host greeted us warmly and even complimented my dress, which was such a nice touch. Our waitress, Angela, was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. She told us about the oysters and the catch of the day and was just so sweet and attentive throughout our meal. For food, I ordered the Catch #2 platter blackened along with six oysters, and my husband had the Ahi Tuna BLT. Everything was absolutely delicious and clearly fresh. The oysters were great, and the blackened platter was perfectly cooked. My husband loved his sandwich as well. What really stood out was the staff. Everyone was hustling, working hard, and still being genuinely kind and friendly. You can tell the team really cares about the experience they give their guests. If you're getting appetizers great but the main dishes lack flavor and appeal. The service, I had to get up and go find my waiter for melted butter and then ask the host where he is so we can pay and leave. I don't have a problem waiting but this was full blown disappearance. I found the ambiance kind of dark. I asked others at my table and a few agreed. My son and I got the special which was Red Snapper with ground or cut up shrimp with breadcrumbs on top. To tell you the truth the shrimp and breadcrumbs overrode the Red Snapper. I told our waiter this. My DIL and my daughter got the mussels that were supposed to be in white wine and garlic sauce but it was just water with minced garlic. No bueno. The appetizers, I had raw oysters very good, my son got the bang bang shrimp very good, and he also ordered the raw tuna no good, my daughter ordered the baked oysters very good. I took a census and we will not be going back. Too bad because I remember Bunkys from back in the day when they were at their first location and it's just gone down hill. We came on a Saturday night for some dinner and to watch a World Cup game. To start, the server did not know what a Negroni is. Which is fine, but instead of offering to see if the bartender could make it, she insisted they didn't have it. I asked her if they have vermouth and Campari and she said no. I settled for a glass of red wine. My friend ordered a gin and tonic in a tall glass. She asked if they had a high ball for the tall g+t. The server said no but that they had a 22 oz beer mug that it could be served in. She declined and just asked for it to be a single short g+t. I proceeded to go to the bar and ask if they had the ability to make a Negroni and the bartender told me yes (they had Campari and Vermouth behind the bar). I also asked the bartender to put the g+t in a highball and he said no problem. And it indeed came in a highball. We ordered 6 oysters. 2 each of three different types. The server did explain them all and said the last ones were the most expensive. We split a catch of the day as well which was a snapper. It was good but definitely not a fresh catch. When the bill arrived, my friend noticed we were charged for 6 of the most expensive oysters. She asked the server and the server said "I don't make the rules," and offered to get a manager. We declined and said it was ok and not about the money but that it would have been nice to know that the "sampler" was going to be the same price of 6 of the most expensive. We would have just gone ahead and ordered six of the top oysters if we were going to be charged for them anyways. After explaining, the server said she didn't want to offend us by telling us the price. That was a bizarre rationale. Bathrooms were ok and clean. I wouldn't recommend this place and I would not be excited to return. read more

While in town for my daughter's bridal shower, we were staying nearby and looking for a good place to eat. After checking Yelp, we decided to give Bunky's a try--and we're so glad we did! From the outside, it looks like a corner spot in a strip mall, but inside it has the feel of a sports bar with high-end seafood. The atmosphere, food, and service did not disappoint. The drinks were great and always flowing. We ordered three appetizers and our mains, and everything was excellent. We are out of towners and our cousins recommended we come here... Definitely a casual bar/restaurant-known for their seafood. Sports bar vibe. Parking was difficult (on a Tuesday night) they share a lot with Ichabods Bar & Grille maybe that's why? We were meeting another couple who arrived early and they ordered a couple appetizers, buffalo chicken dip and fried oysters. Took almost an hour for them to come out. Ridiculous! We also ordered a cup of clam chowder and a cup of gumbo soup and those took about a half hour to come out! Ridiculous! Our dinners were tasty, my husband loved the seafood pasta but absolutely positively not worth $40. I had the Mango Mahi bowl which was really good however the cook/chef overcooked the fish! Such a bummer- ruined a great piece of fish, the plantains were bomb!! Our server was really nice but seemed a little overwhelmed and the couple times we asked for something she seemed slightly annoyed. I'm not usually in Melbourne, but happened to be staying at the beach for a night with some family. We chose Bunky's Raw Bar& Grill as our dinner destination purely on the name as we all love oysters. We called ahead and they said it would be about a 15 minute wait, which was not an issue. We arrived checked in for our table and the wait time had grew to 35 minutes. ( in a small beach town you have to expect a decent wait time) it took about 45 minutes to get our table which was expected. We were sat near the entrance which I would have liked to not be in the path of everyone entering and leaving the restaurant but wasn't a deal breaker. Our server was very friendly. I don't recall her name. We started with cocktails and appetizers which were all perfect. (Refer to pictures) and I ordered the scallops for dinner. They could have been cooked a little less but still delicious. And then they brought me out a piece of key lime pie (as it was my birthday) it was fantabulous! I have no complaints about the experience company was great. He was nearly perfect. I just ate here with a small group of us to say goodbye to a friend who is moving out of state. The food was still just as good as always. The service felt a bit off when we're there. It was a busy night so I'm not taking it too badly but just felt like our server wasn't as attentive as she could be. Bunky's is a family favorite of ours but mainly due to being very accommodating when dining with a big party. They have great apps - pretzel, calamari, gator tail, and the seafood gumbo. Yum! Under entrees, don't order the fish platters unless you want the smallest piece of fish that ever existed. The waitress said it was 6 ounces but truly not worth the price. Get a fish sandwich and it's much bigger piece and cheaper. Love their bowls - tuna poki bowl is a fav. Handhelds - ahi tuna blt, shrimp po boy, mahi mahi sammy, tacos... can't go wrong. Don't judge this place by the bathrooms but the mold around the sink handles in the woman's bathroom is absolutely disgusting. read more

I got the grilled mahi blackened. The rice and black beans and avocado and the salsa were delicious with the fish. The fried plantains were perfectly freshly cooked and were nice and hot. Service was good and the food was great--for that I give 5 stars! The ambiance is that of a casual neighborhood bar with tons of TV screens, all tuned to various different channels. Savory, buttery, crispy beer batter fried fish with sweet slaw served with a tangy/zesty sauce. Very simple but amazing in taste! [Shrimp Platter]: 10/10. Perfect meal to have after hitting the beach, you can leave feeling good and satisfied. The shrimp was fresh and cooked well, the slight char from the grill added great flavor. The grilled zucchini and asparagus are always awesome! [Addon Crab Cake]: 8/10. This was very fresh and I appreciated the large chunks of crab throughout! It was not dry the only thing I would nitpick is it could have used a tad more seasoning, whether it be butter, old bay, etc. I did squeeze lemon on it and that helped. I have been to Bunky's twice in 8 years. The first time, many years ago, and it was a very BAD experience. (Hence the lack of return... until now). Everyone deserves a second chance and I am SO GLAD I gave them another try. So much so, I will be going often. The ambiance is nothing special. It's crowded and loud. It feels cramped. However... The service was very good! Our waitress was knowledgeable and kind. She was quick and attentive. What else can one ask for? I was craving oysters and seafood soup and this place had a nice selection of both. The oysters were the perfect size and temp. Not too big, nor too small. But they were plump, fresh without tasting salty or with grit. The usual sides of cocktail and horseradish were accompanied. The clam chowder was not too thick nor too thin. Lots of flavor with tons of clams that were cut into smaller chunks so that it wasn't the only flavor or texture to overwhelm the rest of the soup. Came here for dinner on a Tuesday night around 6pm and it was pretty packed. We were seated right away though. Came here for the oysters and glad they had it. We ordered the sampler platter that came with 3 different oysters from Virgina, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. They were all pretty good. I think I prefer the Connecticut more. If you aren't a fan of raw oysters, the fire grilled oysters are pretty flavorful. Also, for the smoked fish dip that came with chips and veggies with sides of jalapeño, tomatoes, and onions for an extra fee. Adding the onions and jalapeños on top of the fish dip was pretty good. It gave it a kick. Get the fish dip, you won't regret it. I didn't enjoy the drink we had order, it was a bust. Staff was friendly and attentive on clearing the tables.
