First off, I have been a loyal customer for over 25 years and I told the person that when they finally answered my call. I called and left a message during business hours, never heard back. Signed up for service on their website, still no contact. Finally called again and got an answer. I identified my self to the woman who answered. I explained that I was an ongoing customer but was buying a new house and needed an inspection. She informed me that since I was not the owner they could perform the work without written permission from the owner. I have never heard of such a thing. It only took minutes to find another company to help me. In fact they stated they would perform the the inspection and provide a report of their findings and that they do it all of the time. My elderly father has been living on his own in Fort Mohave for the past two decades. When his AC unit stopped working in May, I was in a bind to find a company to help with the repairs. We had been using River Valley AC to provide bi-annual servicing to the house for the past couple of years, but the AC unit itself was installed by another local company, one that did a very poor job and had over the past several years taken advantage of my father's aging memory (in my opinion). I live across the country and was trying to help my father navigate his options. I contacted the previous company and again was told a number of contradicting things and received an unexpectedly high quote to fix what should have been under warranty. Additionally, as we waited for other answers, the summer was raising the temperature in his house to 95F. On one call, as I pleaded for someone to respond to my questions, the representative hung up on me. Luckily, RV AC was able to send someone to the house to identify the problem. And although it was not their system, they went above and beyond any expectation I had to help my dad get his AC working. The team (Samantha and Donnie especially) there was responsive and truly compassionate, and I honestly can't express the gratitude I have for their help. Actually I could not have declined because your service technician had already taken my equipment apart and diagnosed and replaced the capacitor BEFORE giving me a quote. I understand all about overhead. I wasn't expecting to pay twice the price of a capacitor but around $150 would have been more than fair. And since you brought up a battery I can go to AutoZone or O'Reilly's every single day buy a battery and they'll install it for free. I'm not suggesting that's what you should do as you'd be out of business within a week. But yes a one star review is necessary for this type of price gouging. If you're going to reply to someone's review you should probably have done some homework of your own and spoke to your service tech who responded to my home. On a side note your service tech was a great guy and very informative. He also noticed a wire that had been improperly placed when YOUR company did the installation of an entire AC system at my residence. And it really shouldn't matter if you have one employee or 100 employees The overall price should be competitive with the area. And based on what you said if you are one of the larger companies in the tri-state you should be able to buy things at a discounted prices by buying in bulk opposed to the little guy who's running a one-man truck. Based on the two analogies that you expressed one being the battery for a car and the size of your company really doesn't hold much water. Since you saw this review and I'm sure you know who I am maybe you should have picked up the phone and made a courtesy call to me which might have earned my future business. And to top things off while your technician was still at my home I asked to speak to the owner and they refused to take my call. I also heard the technician speaking with your office and she wanted to make sure that I paid with a credit card and not a check. I guess she thought I was going to stiff you guys. I'm a weekender and I'm only here maybe once a month. This is an older single-wide trailer. I had the system installed about 15 years ago. Coils had a leak, they stated that I needed to replace the entire system because it uses R-22 refrigerant. They quoted a price of over $9K. I called this company because my mini split AC was blowing warm air only. They came out a few days later and sprayed three squirts of soapy water on the fittings and determined there was a leak. They tightened the fittings with a wrench, refilled the Freon and sprayed three more squirts of soapy water to make sure it was fixed. The bill they gave me was for $480, which seams to me to be unwarranted. I can understand the $78 diagnosis fee. I can understand the $200 for Freon, and even that seams high. But $108 to tighten a fitting and $91 to squirt soapy water on it? Come on now! They got me once. read more

We have been dealing with River Valley for about 10 years. Approx. 5 years ago they installed a new air conditioner/heating unit. Every year we have had to pay them to come out and fix it in one way or another. At the beginning of this summer. we were told that we needed a new coil, which was done. We decided to try someone else when we had no heat. Was extremely angry to find out that our heater ducts had not been reconnected and that the gas line had been turned off in the attic. Wow! Update: I finally calmed down enough to have my husband contact River Valley. They apologized and reimbursed us for the repair. read more

First company to arrive on time, professional, and fair pricing. This area can be hard to find quality repair or services, this company exceeded my expectations. I called the day before because they were next door replacing a big unit and got the card. I had left two other local businesses a message and never heard back.... So I gave this company a call. They knew I had a limited window and did a sat morning emergency fee if $20 which I think is very reasonable. The service man called 15 min before appt time of 8 am and gave me an eta, was clean cut and very polite. He worked hard while at the house and wrapped up quick so we could hit the river. Had this company come out and give. W a quote on a split unit for garage. Scott was great we still were on the fence about it. But I thought I would use them to do winter maintenance on cooling/heating unit. The one they sent to do maintenance was pretty young said only been with company 7 months and didn't seem to really know what he was doing. Called the office a few tines to ask if he was suppose to clean the inside unit they said yes & when I told Him he said no that that's extra. So I just opened up receipt from the job he did and he puts down in notes that he performed maintenance on my inside unit, they only thing he did was keep using his reader to see why it wasn't reading normal. After he keep calling supervisor he was able to figure out a breaker keep tripping. Did nothing else. Apparently people think customers have money coming out there A**!! Costing me double now to get another company to come do maintenance on my Unit!! I don't recommend this company. Zero stars read more

My 80 year-old mother-in-law's AC went out during the recent heatwave (where the daytime highs reached 124) and River Valley went above and beyond to get her scheduled ASAP for a new system installation! Prior to the new system installation, they sent a repairman out three times; only charging for the first visit and they had him out the same day or very first thing the next morning. They also always asked if she would be okay (physically) until they could get out to her. This concern for her wellbeing is indicative of the service River Valley provides, they genuinely seem to care A LOT about their customers. River Valley also is very cost-conscience and patiently and thoroughly answered all my questions about the pricing, discounts, etc. I never, ever once got the feeling that they were trying to take advantage of a retiree stuck in a dire situation. Their pricing was more than fair and they even gave us a credit for the initial service call a couple weeks prior. Like Joann B's review, I was very pleased with the professionalism of EVERY employee I had contact with! While I don't know the name of the receptionist, she was very friendly and showed great concern for my mother-in-law when scheduling. Edgar the repairman was very knowledgeable and thoroughly explained everything he was doing. He was also very aware of trying not to upsell - many service people would've taken advantage of the situation. In fact, when I asked how much a new system would cost, he was relieved that I brought it up first! I had the most interaction with Duane/Tiger and he is FANTASTIC! I handled the whole sales process via email and he always responded within the hour, but usually within minutes. Again, we were in the middle of a horrible heatwave, so I can only imagine how busy they were! He worked with me on every aspect of the sale from make and model to post-install warranty registration. He left no question unanswered and was always friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Finally, a big thank you to Mike and his team for their hard work on the installation! The temperature in the attic reached 140 and the guys worked tirelessly to get the system installed as quickly as possible. They wouldn't even let us order them lunch or come in for a cool down. First, they socked it to my insurance company.. and it has been years of problem after problem, starting with the first month. How can a sealed freon unit in a brand new unit need freon added? The air just never stayed cold. Eventually, after year after year of suffering every summer, getting socked for repairs once that the warranty went out, they told me that the unit that they installed was too small, and that I should be happy with a temperature of 89 degrees in my house, after all, it is 115 degrees outside.. The old unit kept the house nice and cool no matter what the temperature was outside. The tech said that the new units have a different type of freon so the new unit won't cool as good as the old one.. okay, so why didn't they tell me and the insurance company this? They were in such a huge hurry to replace the old one and the crooks that they are they could have even made more money.. oops, they slipped on that one. After dealing with their nonsense for season after season, and our house was so hot inside, 96 degrees. We decided to try a different air conditioning company.. Although we are on social security and struggle affording one meal a day since the prices of everything went sky high since the new administration messed up the economy, we still knew we would die having to live in a 96 degree house. We did finally get it fixed, for now anyway. And colder than it has been in our house since the River Valley Air Conditioning new unit.. And it only took about ten minutes for the other air conditioning company to replace the capacitor.. A $20.00 part online, however the air conditioning company socked it to us with a bill of $189.00.. But at least they did fix it! It just really amazes me what a racket this air conditioning business is. How do these people sleep at night, knowing what absolute crooks that they are? They sleep in nice cool expensive houses. I am just grateful that this other company did fix it. At least I am not out over $200.00 like last summer when River Valley a/c supposedly fixed my air conditioner and that was without even replacing a part or adding freon.. I had watched Utube videos and probably could have fixed it myself. Air conditioning really isn't complicated at all. Live and learn. read more

Excellent service! I just needed a maintenance check of my HVAC unit before the hot months set in. After completing a complicated job just before mine, the technician "Edgar" came by immediately after and did a terrific job for me. (He preferred to keep working, didn't want or need a break.) He cleaned and examined the coils and wires, made sure Freon was full, and went up on the roof to examine my HVAC and make sure it was in good working order. (It was.) To save me a few bucks, he showed me how to change the air filter myself, then removed it for me so I could take it to Home Depot and buy the correct model. (I'm age 71 female, so if I can do it, anyone can.) He was courteous, informative, efficient and reasonably priced. Can't ask for more! read more

I do not recommend River Valley A/C. I have used them for several years for routine maintenance etc. so when I decided to get a new A/C unit I called River Valley. They installed a new unit and within one month of using it there was a freon leak. I was not happy, but they did fix it. A few days later it was not working properly so after 7 visits trying to find the problem, they replaced it with a new unit. Second unit, same problem. I knew River Valley could not find the problem, so I called Horizon Air and Joshua came out and within 10 minutes he found the problem and within an hour he had it fixed. I paid Horizon Air $194, but it was worth every penny. It has been working perfectly since then. I DO recommend Horizon Air. River Valley also had me sign a document stating that they would not replace the second unit or offer a refund. I did not receive a copy of this document. I guess they don't want me to add that to the documentation I have for this whole disaster. A month of extreme stress and frustration with River Valley trying to blame me for the new A/C not working properly. read more

This whole experience was amazing. My AC went out on a Friday - I called late in the afternoon and was able to set up an appointment for Monday between 11AM and IPM. Monday morning I got a call from the technician at 8AM and he was here by 8:15AM. He was experienced and very informative as to what the problem was. I made the decision to replace the entire HVAC system. It was set up to be installed the next day, Tuesday. The installation crew called just before 8AM and was here ready to work by 8:15AM. Everything was done and running great by noon. The system runs quietly which is great. All 3 of the gentlemen that were here were very nice and worked quickly and neatly. They cleaned up beautifully and hauled away the dead system. I highly recommend this locally owned, family operated business for repair or replacement of your HVAC system. AC went out on a Sunday, Julian came over for $98 charge to identify issue, it was a circuit board. Next day he came back with a part and that solved the problem. Julian was excellent! -- only here maybe 90 mins total for both days and I rate his work as 5 star. The reason for the 3-star on the company is that the circuit boards retail cost is $149, but they charged me $325 -- on top of the previous $98 -- so roughly $420 to replace a $149 board -- puts the hourly rate they charge at $180/hour -- crazy high. Again - nice work Julian, but feel the company/management overcharged and I will probably call around next time. read more

Best service. Last year they installed a thermostat and this year it messed up AC wouldn't blow cold. We called them and they were out in a couple of hours. They even called after technician left to make sure we were good . Both service calls were prompt. They didn't charge me an arm and a leg or try and charge me for something I didn't need.
