We recently stayed at Timber Lodge, and it's certainly most convenient to grab dinner from here as it's the only restaurant within the hotel/lodge, especially if you're traveling with kiddos like we were. Gotta say we were pretty bummed both nights/experiences. The flavor of the food was good, but every dish was cold, both nights. We attempted to dine in the restaurant, but it was far too busy so the wait was very long. Instead, we ordered to-go, as you can bring the food to your room. Both nights we called the orders in and they said they'd call us when complete - didn't receive a call either night. Instead we went down to for pickup, hoping it was ready. I thought the grilled chicken sandwich was honestly very tasty, but it was cold enough that it felt like it was sat under the heat lamp in the kitchen for quite some time. Same with my husband's crispy chicken sammie, and our son's cheese burger & fries. Definitely a bummer! Perhaps they can get away with less-than Luckily, our friends ordered a large pizza from here and that was the one winner. Hot, delicious, and enough to share. read more

We made reservations for two tables (only because we had no choice online; it wouldn't allow me to make a reservation(s) for 11 people; 6 and 5). We went to the restaurant - all 11 of us - at the appropriate time. The hostess was put out by us and said we couldn't sit together, but I noticed the entire back wall was available so I suggested we sit there. She was fine with that and as we headed that way someone moved from a table in front of that area into that space - she allowed it - we decided to leave and have breakfast somewhere else. Like others, we are staying at timber ridge and opted for convenience of ordering from Smokey's instead of leaving. I was super impressed with the hostess who was taking my order. She was very attentive and accommodating. I had asked what type of fruit was in the fruit cup and after she provided the assortment, I asked if we could get just blueberries and she said yes, we can make that happen! It was so nice that they accommodated our request. We had the pulled pork sandwich (only regret I wished I would have got a side of bbq sauce) and the burger which was good as well. read more

I'm guessing that Smokey's used to have more regular hours before the pandemic, but since travel has gone down, maybe its hours have decreased too. If you're staying at Timber Lodge, this is 1 of 2 food spots on site, and the only restaurant in the building. The other food spot consisting of more convenience foods (hot dogs, pizza, etc.). It smells like steak when you come in, but it's a BBQ joint. It's nicely designed, with booths, tables, wood, and windows open to the water park below for some dinner entertainment for kids and adults alike (as in you can look out the window instead of at walls)! The prices are what you'd expect for a BBQ and in-hotel type of place, and the food was good for what it was. Nothing spectacular, but solid. The restaurant isn't very big so keep that in mind when figuring out when you'll be showing up for dinner - we arrived at 5:45 with three kids in tow, and we were able to get seated within a few mins, but it gets full pretty quick since it's such a small restaurant. Staff is very friendly and informative. - Amish chicken: I'd recommend this one - it's good quality chicken, roasted to tender perfection while still staying moist, and comes with two sides for $16, not bad for a BBQ joint! I got the mac 'n cheese and side salad, which were both meh. Their other sides probably packed a punch vs the side salad was a bit less sophisticated, just had some shredded carrots and halved tomatoes on lettuce. - Kid's brisket: Not a bad deal ($12), they do give the kids the end pieces of the brisket that aren't as tender/fatty, so the pieces are a lot tough to chew. But it comes with a side, so it's not too bad a deal. - Brisket Cheesesteak (think it was called something else): Was surprisingly good for $16ish - the brisket was sliced very thinly so fell apart when eating, in a good way. There was a great au jus paired with it, so it made the sandwich softer to chew, and the cheese and accompaniments did a good job bringing the sandwich together. Came with a side. If you're staying at this resort and don't feel like leaving, it's a good option. Or maybe consider getting the food to go - just make sure you plan with enough time for them to make the food. I'd say this meets waterpark restaurant expectations. It wasn't great, but wasn't bad. The kids had burgers that were pretty standard. The bbq was edible but pretty chewy. The restaurant had menus with coloring activities and crayons to keep the kids occupied. They served pop/soda in huge glasses. Service was pretty good. If you want great food, this probably isn't the place for you. If you want something convenient while staying at the waterpark, this place works. read more

The chicken nuggets were so bad an eight year old wouldn't eat them. The other child's burger was well done when we asked for medium. Our waiter got lost for 20 minutes at a time. Kinda disappointed...im glad i was only able to make it for breakfast. I ordered their vanilla waffle for breakfast that says it comes with strawberry compote and whipped cream. When it gets to my table its just a plain waffle. I asked wheres the strawberry compote was and the waitress (looked more like a manager) said i needed to ask for that to be put on there...now how would i know to ask that? Its like ordering a pepperoni pizza and getting a plain cheese because you need to ask them to put pepperoni pizza on your pepperoni pizza. Whatever the lady didnt look like she was happy to be working and i just ate the 1 plain ass waffle (it was not crowded, nor understaffed, manager looking lady was yelling at the waiters to clean stuff and refill things). Funny thing is i looked around at other tables they had that compote on their waffles. I ordered some dessert blondie thing off the kids menu and it said it came with vanilla icecream and a bourbon carmel sauce, all lies people! Meany manager looking lady clearly didnt like my table. It came with no sauce and no vanilla icecream it was chocolate (at this point im just going to complain because im still hungry). It wasnt that good i think they burnt it pretty bad. Bless their hearts. I think they're trying. They're severely understaffed. The food just wasn't good. The first night our meal and drinks were comped because it was such a spectacular failure. Our server was gracious. And I believe the lone cook was working his or her tail off... It just didn't come together. A couple nights later I had resort credit to use up so we ordered take out. This service was much faster and they missed a few things in the order (condiments to go with appetizers) and the ribs were creamated, black and charcoal is some spots. They're charging family resort hotel prices, I'd have been content with family resort food. My bar wasn't set spectacularly high, but this was a mission failed. Wah wahhhhh. read more

We dined at Smokeys' for breakfast only, while staying at the Timber Ridge Resort. We ate here two mornings in a row, On Saturday morning my food was amazing, my omelette was one of the best I ever had. Service was good but not great. On Sunday morning I ordered the exact same dish, a tomato, onion, pepper and cheddar omelette with hash browns and toast. On Sunday my hash browns were under cooked, the potatoes were still hard, I sent them back they tried again but still not very good. Service on Sunday morning was a little bit slower than Saturday but it did not appear to be any busier so not sure why. This would have been a 5-star review had Sunday's meal matched Saturdays. We did not ever eat dinner here but it always looked busy in the evening and smelled good. I would return on my next visit and also want to try it out for dinner as well. read more

My wife and I ordered the Brisket. It was very delicious. However, for the price you pay, was not worth it. The serving portion size is also very small and it seemed as if they favored one side over the other. (You get 2 sides with order) The kids Mac and cheese is just regular Kraft Mac n cheese which is def not worth the 8 bucks you pay for it. Also had the cheese curbs which we very tasty and actually worth the price!! I am really surprised of the quality of breakfast this place is serving knowing they are situated inside a well known waterpark. We ordered pancakes this morning and it was very salty, it seems like they cooked it after the bacon, that's why my toddler would not want to eat after taking a bite. Then we called in to complain and they said they re do our orders. From an already complained costumers, they should do better this time around. But here comes the new order which is just worst, the eggs weren't cook, you can still see the raw egg white!!! You are serving it to human beings fyi, this is really not safe especially there are kids who will be eating this kind of poorly prepared food. Our order consisted of glazed Salmon, the barbeque platter, personal size sausage pizza and pasta. Not impressed at all - more completely disappointed. After waiting an hour to be seated (which was fine during COVID) we had to wait an additional 30 minutes to be waited on. 2 other parties came in AFTER us and were served and left before we got our food. The burger was burnt not to mention I had to wait to eat after having to ask for condiments to add to it. I ordered the cake bomb thing and was giving it "free" but without the ice cream. I would have rather paid if it meant getting it correctly. My guess is it was free because our service was so terrible. I ordered the brisket. It was tough and dry, extremely disappointing. The coleslaw was tasty. Cornbread was dry and cold. I just expected a little more from the kitchen. My other son ordered a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It was one of the frozen kind that you purchase and send with your child's school lunch due to time management. The girl and the front desk couldn't not give us any times on how long the wait would be, so after waiting about 45 minutes we decided to call it quits. We took the kids back to the room and said screw it well just order and bring it back to the room. I tried to call the order in and after getting two plates in and having to repeat myself 5 times I decided I should probably just go there to assure the order was right. (This is now over an hour after we had originally showed up) Again when I asked how long our TOGO order would be the hostess replied with "We aren't allowed to give times" well okay then! Well we got back to the room with the food hoping for some amazing "14hr smoked brisket" HA! All we received was a chewy, rubber, fatty pieces of meat that was anything but smoked! Our experience here was awful. From the time we walked up to the hostess stand to when we paid our (overpriced) bill, it was unpleasant. The host couldn't tell us how long the wait would be for a table for our party of 6. He offered a table that would sit 4 & while we VERY quickly discussed how we would make it work - standing right next to him - he gave it to the people behind us. When we were finally seated at a table, we weren't given enough dinner menus when we sat down & then had to ask for a drink menu. I had two of the specialty mixed drinks - sent the first one back because it was disgusting & the second barely had any flavor or alcohol. While they were knowledgable about gluten free food, the food took forever. Two in our party ordered the individual sized gluten free pizzas and they had to wait a solid 10 minutes after the rest of us were served to get their entrees. I had the half chicken with sides - half of the half chicken was too pink for my taste & the other half was too dry to eat. Two in our party got the ribs & they were not only served barely warm, they were the consistency of beef jerky. The ONLY positive thing about our dining experience here was our server. He assisted in getting my second beverage, apologized several times for the delay in the food, and was very attentive. To sum it up, don't eat here. read more

Smokey's Bar-B-Que House is located within the Timber Ridge Resort. We decided to order a mess of food after playing in the water park for a little over 2 hours. We ordered the following via delivery: Burnt Ends (baked ends of brisket with BBQ sauce - their house specialty),Fire Cracker Corn, Mashed potatoes, Ranch Style beans, Macaroni & cheese, Cole Slaw, a quart of Pulled pork, and 2 racks of Baby Back Ribs. Their sides are portioned in either pint or quarts. I'm Asian, so I paid attention to math in school. I know that 2 cups equals a pint, and 2 pints equals a quart. In terms of food, I had no idea how much that fed, but it seemed to me that a pint of each was more than enough. We really ordered way too much food. They supplied us with tons of Sweet baby Ray's BBQ sauce, condiments, bread, etc. In terms of taste, I would definitely say that the ribs were fantastic. They were boiled, not smoked, however. I was still very happy. Macaroni and cheese? Meh. Upon glancing at it, my friend instantly recognized it to be the cheap boxed kind that you can make at home on your stove. The pulled pork was dry and needed extra sauce. i did not like the sauce that they used on the burnt ends. Too vinegary. The other sides were also meh. Service was fast and friendly. We literally ordered from here twice for dinner and twice for breakfast. We never had problems w any orders. They forgot onion rings but were apologetic and brought them up right away. Excellent place! We had great service and enjoyed our food. Had the beef brisket and ribs. Both excellent. For sides, we had collard greens, corn bread, beans, and potato salad. All great!! The only suggestion is I wish they offered a combo platter of a mixture of different meats. We made our own, of sorts, by sharing. I really don't like when I'm handed my bill while I am eating and not even asking if I wanted anything else. First, lunch menu was very limited. My fish tacos was plain - the rice tasted like the microwaveble. My niece had salmon, dry. My little sister is 14 years old and was given a pasta kids size. Our server Melissa couldn't have been nicer. She let us try a few beers that were on tap, and we ended up with the leinenkugel summer shanty. Great start! We started with some wings & BBQ sauce .. great.. Chips and salsa? Good stuff.. I had a turkey burger on a pretzel bun with bacon, grilled onions and mushrooms. Tasty, a little salty but over all good. My wife had cheese quesadilla decent. The kids had burgers & fries standard fair did the trick. Dessert? Brownie Sundaes for dessert... Kids loved them... We ate here twice in the same day, breakfast and dinner. I should have stopped after our breakfast experience, but we stayed at the Timber Ridge Resort and were too lazy to go somewhere else for dinner. Breakfast: Seated right away, but had a fairly apathetic waitress. Simple drink order...2 OJ's, 1 apple juice. We get 3 OJ's. I ask our waitress if we can get apple juice for our daughter, and no acknowledgement that she brought over the wrong drink, just brings the apple juice over. Not a big deal, but odd nonetheless. Place our food orders, and it came out. Now she's missing the toast on my order (I don't even bother asking for it). Daughter had gluten free pancakes, and I try one...like eating cardboard. Not sure how my daughter was able to eat this crap, but she did (God bless her). There are very good GF pancakes, so it's not as if this is how all GF pancakes are. Coffee was not very good either. Next I see 2 different people picking up orders to take back to their rooms. 2 employees, 1 of whom was our waitress, completely ignore them and just stand there chatting away. 1 customer gets annoyed and walks right over to them to get his order. They seemed genuinely surprised at this. Overall, not a great breakfast experience. Dinner: Ordered food to be delivered to our room. I had some BBQ, which was good. Daughter had french fries...but they send no ketchup. I head down to the restaurant to ask for some ketchup packs. The lady at the front is ignoring me as I stand there. Finally, the kid that delivered the food to our room sees me and helps. He was apologetic and helpful. Wife ordered a veggie burger & side salad. I get back to the room after getting the ketchup, and she takes her first bite of the burger...it's real meat. I call down and tell them what happened, and the person on the phone apologizes. 5 minutes later the lady that ignored me when I went down to get the ketchup shows up with the veggie burger and apologizes again. They're lucky this was just a dietary choice, rather than a medical issue or religious issue. There would have been hell to pay, as I've seen news stories about restaurants getting sued for these types of careless mistakes. Terrible dinner experience. I don't think we're going back to Timber Ridge again. The restaurant experience was similar to the resort overall...lacking attention to detail and 1/2 of the employees are apathetic. read more
