Me and my boyfriend went there on Saturday. It was semi busy but not every table was taken. There was one table by the water that was open but it was not cleaned off yet. We asked if we could sit there, worker seemed irritated we asked but did clean it off and let us sit there. I ordered a grilled cheese, its not your regular grilled cheese it has jalapenos and bacon. My boyfriend got the club sandwich and onions rings. Food was delicious! We shared a lemon drop which was good. Overall food was great, scenery was beautiful, and atmosphere was nice. First time here and last. Walked in and was told it would be an hour wait if we wanted to sit outside on the patio and this what was told to the family ahead of us too. So we sat down inside. Atmosphere was dark and warm. 10 min later the family gets seated outside. More people get seated outside and no service and are leaving. We ordered a cheeseburger/fries, soup/ bake potato and took over an hour. Never a consistent waiter always a different person. Finally we get silverware. We honestly wanted to just pay for the meal & leave we got so tired of waiting. I'm going to keep it brief. From arrival to receiving our card back after paying was close to three hours. Food was wickedly salty, they brought and charged us for drinks we DID NOT order, and there is absolutely ZERO management for waitstaff. Tons and tons of people roaming collecting dirty plates, but ONE girl taking orders and waiting ALL outside tables. It was an absolute train wreck. The table beside us (party of three) received their waters and waited almost an hour to have their order put in. The waitress then came back and took their order AGAIN 20ish min later saying she never took it to begin with (she did). They walked out. View is nice. Live music was awesome. Everything else was pretty terrible. Such a shame too because this place could really be incredible. Very very few customers were wearing masks, there was no social distancing, no sanitizing the tables or chairs between diners. Plus customers were smoking on the outside patio where we were directed to wait til our name was called. We waited for a little bit and then decided to leave. I read some of the reviews afterwards (I know, should've done that first!) and realized this has been going on for awhile now. I don't understand how this restaurant decides they are above the law. So many reviews about covid... honestly do not care about who wears a mask and who doesn't. I am a believer in if you do not feel comfortable, don't go out. Anyways, our drink server and waiter were sweet but the food was very very disappointing. 4 of us ordered 4 different items and all were far from the food has been in the past. The fries, onion rings and mushrooms tasted like old burned oil. The fish and chips tasted the same. Hamburger was burnt. Pizza used to be the best thing there and it wasn't even on the menu anymore. I was NOT disappointed! I was checking out dog-friendly restaurants in the area as we were going to see the Sequoias, and fell in love with the dining patio, right on the Kaweah River online. It could have been one of those experiences where it looked good online, but doesn't live up to it in reality. River View Grill & Bar was even better than I had hoped. Every time we come here the experience has been different. Started off great the first time and just gradually getting worse. Food has been consistent and the staff is always the same so not sure why the service keeps going down. Drinks and burgers are amazing. The time after the first we got charged incorrectly, server fixed it and almost made it seem as if we were the ones at fault for her mistake. The time after that same server, doubt she remembered us but the from the moment we walked in till the time we left it was almost 3 hours. Not sure if I'll come back soon. In August, I took my kids to Sequoia. We decided to order dinner to bring it back to the hotel. So we stopped by this restaurant to order. I ordered at the bar and paid with a credit card. The bartender said the card didn't go through. So I took out another card to pay. Again, it didn't go through. I had no choice but to pay with cash. Fast forward a week later, I checked my credit cards statement online, and low and behold, both of my cards were charged in the amount of $55.04. I tried to call the restaurant to see if they could help resolve the problem. A manager talked to me and said he will look and call me back. But he never did! I tried to dispute the charges with my credit card company and 1 already was against my favor. The other one is in progress So please beware of this place especially if you're paying with a credit card! read more

I understand if a place is busy but our waitress didn't check up on us until the very end when we had to flag her for our check and box our leftovers. I ordered the BLT and bowl of chili and felt that the chili was extremely mushy while seeing the excess if grease ontop of the cheese. I felt that the price was too much for how small the portion was. The BLT was adequate because the bread tasted like it was over toasted. Was visiting Sequoia National Park for a few days, so decided to check out this restaurant, one of only a few in Three Rivers, just outside the park. We immediately noticed the sign that said "If you want to wear a mask, that's okay. If you can't wear a mask because of a health reason, also okay. If you're not comfortable with people NOT wearing masks, this may no be the place for you." Well, it wasn't the place for me and my wife. The waitresses and waiters don't wear masks and don't treat COVID-19 seriously, nor does the management. If you want to catch COVID-19, then go on a busy weeknight (remember there are limited choices in the town where to eat). If you prefer to stay safe, choose one of the other restaurants in town. COVID-19 RISK !! Had to stop by after a hike since all other food options were closed. When we walked in we were HORRIFIED at the lack of covid safety precautions being taken. First off when you walk in there is a sign stating that if you weren't okay with people not wearing masks, this place is probably not for you. At one point during our dinner we observed the dishwasher sucking on his finger then immediately taking out clean dishes from the dishwasher. We also witnessed them reuse the same DIRTY ass rag on all of the tables. None of the servers had a mask on and overall shitty food. Our lunch visit was a 3 star. We went back for dinner and had to change this review to a 1 star. I would hope ownership would be showing us everything in their power that they are providing a safe environment for your guests. We were seated at a dirty table which was cleaned in front of us and they should be ashamed. The dishes were cleared and the table "dusted" with a dry cloth by a staff member hovering over all of us maskless. My husband and I were hoping to get a nice dinner after an afternoon hanging out at Sequoia National Park. The last thing I expected to see upon entering the restaurant was NO ONE wearing masks, including the employees and kitchen staff. I also noticed that none of the bartenders were wearing masks. Bar patrons were sitting inches away from each other, also with no masks. There was no enforcement of mask wearing or social distancing at all throughout the restaurant. Was excited to eat here at River View after they had been closed for awhile. We haven't been in about a year and we saw it was under new management and they appeared to be making improvements while closed for Covid. We were very excited to see what they had improved and to enjoy our favorites, a black bean burger for me and a pastrami burger (the general Sherman) for my husband! We got there and had a brief wait which was fine. Were sat outside by the nice river view and a nice young man asked what we wanted to drink. Brought them VERY quickly! Not too long after someone came and asked if we were ready to order. No one had introduced themselves at this point or made any effort to acknowledge that we were customers. As a long time server (former) this was a little strange to me. But she was nice enough and asked if we wanted ranch and left. A LONG time later, no drink refills, no one stopping to check on us, we've checked our watches a hundred times by now, our food is dropped off by another different person who, again, didn't introduce herself, look at us or even smile. We asked for a drink refill since we still hadn't been offered one and did get it. *Note: we're very patient people. This was about an hour at this point in a MAYBE 1/3 full restaurant. The food was...meh. All of it had been frozen at some point. It was very far from impressive. And we never did get that ranch. We got our receipt and sought out someone to check us out. The kid at the register asked who our server was and we honestly couldn't tell him. The original woman, who took our order, saw him talking to us, told him it was the woman who dropped off our food, I guess, and went back to rolling her silverware. Eventually he found who I assume our server actually was. At check out we noticed a fee of $1+ change to pay with a credit or debit card which we asked about and were honestly a little surprised by. $33+ for two frozen dinners and a coke? On top of mediocre (at best) service? I'm ok never going there again. They're clearly leaning on the beautiful view of the river and the fact that tourists have few dinner options coming down from the park because nothing about the experience would bring locals like us back. ***editing to add: the bar patio was up above and to the side of the outside tables and those seated there blew smoke out on the outside seating the whole time we were there. We absolutely love this place. We live in the valley and go as often as we can! The staff is always prompt and friendly. The food is great. We love the chili dogs and onion rings. This location has the perfect view of the Kaweah River. My boyfriend and I stopped here after hiking all day in Sequoia and yum! I had the mango beer which I want on tap in my own house, I really enjoyed it! Order the jalapeño poppers to start they were crispy and cheesy in the best way. I had the burgerish which was their vegetarian option and it was great. We sat on the patio which leads me to my only complaint-- all of the good things about this restaurant were ruined by people smoking.
