My friend wanted fish tacos and the reviews say their good here. It was also taco tuesday and they have a special. It's my second time eating here. I was disappointed my first visit by their birria tacos. I had to reheat them at home to get the cheese melted and the tortilla crispy. The other thing i didnt like about that experience was they have a special for birria tacos, 3tacos plus consommé for $12.99. I only wanted 2 tacos and consommé-- its a must with birria tacos. Why did the cashier say ok you can do that but then charge me for each item separately and my order came out to over $16. Well I decided to give them another shot today and unfortunately the cashier did a similar thing with the fish tacos on my friend's plate. 3 tacos plus rice and beans should have been $12.99. He asked if fish tacos were ok and the cashier said yes. He asked if shrip tacos were ok and the cashier said yes and then charged $16 and some change! I saw it. I didnt say anythinng because I had offered to treat to taco tuesday so I didnt want to disappoint my friend who wanted to try this place. He said the fish and shrimp tacos were pretty good and ate everything on yhe plate. So there's that. I ordered two carne asada tacos and the meat was dry, chewy, and bland. Needed seasoning for sure. The green salsa made those edible. The pastor was nasty, was that actually chicken posed as pastor? Idk tbh... The carnitas taco was the saving grace. There's no where to really sit inside, 2 small tables and 2 counterheight tables. One table was taken by the food of the cashier who left it mid-meal to take orders. Last time I was there, I didn't know he worked there and he was standing in front of the counter for about 5 mins before someone else came in and he decided to go behind the register and take orders again. I could tell the customer service was geared toward native Spanish speakers, which I am not. Also the parking lot is very small but you can usually snag a spot. read more

Went here for taco Tuesday before noon. Fish tacos are not included in the $1 special, they are $1.95. All other tacos ate $1- carne asada, chicken, carnitas, al pastor, birra (shredded beef) and chorizo. Birra and carnitas were great. Tacos are on the smaller side but have a good portion of meat. Birra was on the greasy side. They have a bogo burrito lunch special valid 9am-11am: buy a burrito and a drink, get one free burrito. I might return for that. read more

These days it's actually a task to find a GOOD Mexican food joint. Hell, "Tacos de Anda" is across the street and I USED to think that was the best around, I was wrong! "Tacos de Anda" is crap compared to "Rivera's Fresh Tacos". This place has the juiciest and well seasoned meat. Everyday, M-F they have specials. I've had the best Mexican food experiences here and I'm so happy I live a mile from them. The tacos, quesadillas, burritos, again Fresca are all on point. Really solid authentic taco place. The parking lot is fairly small, but since the restaurant itself is small, it's not a problem. You can get tacos and burritos here with a variety of different meats (e.g., asada, pollo, pastor, etc.) and your standard rice and bean sides. On the right hand side of where you enter there is a salsa bar with several different fresh salsas, including a very tasty habanero salsa. Overall, the food was excellent and an incredibly good value for the price. read more

After much curiosity about this new taco spot that just opened across from the longstanding Tacos de Andas, I finally popped in on a Saturday afternoon. There were about 2 customers so ordering was quick and easy. I love carnitas and Andas carnitas are always dry so I tried one of these tacos; also tried birria because not all taco spots typically offer this; last ordered the fish taco because I had read it was really good. The carnitas taco was a bit dry, but much more flavorful than Andas. The birria was okay but lacking in flavor, kind of tasted like a dry carne asada. The fish taco was surprisingly very good! The fish was full of flavor and they add some kind of chipotle sauce and other (mayo?), which they asked if I wanted. I initially thought I should try it minus the sauces but was happy I just got it as it came. Only thing in the fish taco, there wasn't much fish! Thank god for the lettuce and other (see photo lol). One thing I really like about this spot is that they offer the pickled carrots, radish, and a few salsas you can help yourself to at the salsa bar. The carrots have a unique flavor from ones I'm used to, not bad but different. I would return but not when I'm in a rush because it took awhile. I think they make everything fresh while you wait, which is good with me. Parking at this spot kind of sucks so keep that in mind, I thought I'd almost have to park on the street. This is my girlfriend and I's favorite taco place in OC. The customer service is always amazing, and the food and flavors are outstanding! Their street tacos are some of the best street tacos I have ever had in my life. The meat is well seasoned and tender, and their sauces are INSANE. Last night I was craving some good tacos but wasn't in the mood to drive anywhere. Since I decided to wait to get my taco fix today, literally got out of work and drove straight to Rivera's. Ended up calling in my order just in case they were busy. The woman who answered was really nice, and as soon as I walked in, my food was ready. It's a small restaurant right across the street from taqueria de anda. They have aguas frescas, daily deals, and an awesome taco Tuesday! Carne asada, al pastor, chicken, and carnita tacos are $1 each on Tuesday. Fish tacos are $1.50 everyday. I picked up two fish tacos, a side of beans & rice and 3 chicken tacos for a friend. Their portions were huge and so reasonable. Total for all that was around $8! Pretty sure it's a family ran business, and not too sure how long they've been around... BUT I'm sure glad they are. Rivera's is the best taco place in the area, hands down. My wife and I pick up tacos there all the time. I don't know why people would go anywhere else. All the meats are good, including their carnitas, which is hard to find IMO. They have a great variety of sauces, some which have a pretty good kick to them. I REALLY wanted to like this place based on the reviews. Our guacamole was so chunky and it was more veggies than anything, plus it needed salt. The chips that came with it were so stale. My torta was good but the al pastor didn't taste like al pastor. Same with the tacos, the meat was good but there was no al pastor taste. Cochinita meat was good and the cashier was really nice. From the reviews I read I would try the carnitas next time. This is based on my first time eating here. That's it, that's all. read more

Everyone at Rivera's is super friendly and nice, and I was hoping to really enjoy my experience there. However, I was really disappointed with the food. I got an asada burrito and the meat was super dry, stale, greasy and stiff (see pictures). It was really hard to eat. My husband got several tacos and a couple sopes, none of which were good. Al Pastor taco has a great taste it's meatier than other places maybe a little dry for my taste but good and also had half a carne asada burrito omg great flavor meet was good and tender not fatty or greasy rice and beans were tasty burrito was perfect size meat rice and beans had a good ratio nothing was over powering the meet. We love Rivera's. Have been here multiple times and the food is always consistent. We love the carnitas and the fish tacos, but it's all amazing. We will get the breakfast burrito with carnitas as well. The owner is usually there too and he seems like a great guy. You can also buy carnitas by the pound for parties too.
