I don't have enough great things to say about this place. Last year they saved our elderly dog's life by providing critical care/support for hemorrhagic diarrhea that went from bad to life-threatening shock in a matter of hours. The team was phenomenal. Late last week I noticed a hard lump on my Basset Hound's rib cage that appeared to have grown by Monday. We'd just had to put our Pom to sleep after a costly ICU stay and were fearing the worst. The CSR team was lovely and had us scheduled within hours. On arrival the tech/DA was absolutely incredible: kind, funny, triaged our girl immediately, took a history, played, and brought her to the back for eval. When the doctor found nothing more than a floating rib we were free to go. No charge. (Pretty sure they took pitty on us because we'd been through a lot the week before). I worked for about a year at another UC and Riverbend and Sadie are my go-to UC vets (in that order). The team at Riverbend is ALWAYS incredible, professional, and their pricing is reasonable. They're also very transparent re: costs and number of doctors on staff each day which really helps with expectations. Love this place! Thanks again, Team. read more

The front desk staff were kind and welcoming, but unfortunately the rest of our experience was disappointing. Neither the technician nor the veterinarian introduced themselves, and communication throughout the visit was confusing. We brought our dog in for an injured nail with redness and swelling that we were concerned had become infected. The technician mentioned it could be a foxtail, which seemed like a reasonable possibility. However, when the veterinarian came in, she produced a perfectly intact foxtail without clearly explaining where it came from or whether it had actually been removed from our dog. Later she commented that he had "clearly been in areas where there are foxtails," but it was still never made clear whether a foxtail had actually been found. That lack of communication left us questioning the diagnosis and ultimately contributed to our decision not to proceed with the recommended exploratory procedure. The front desk staff handled our change of plan professionally, but the technician's response felt dismissive and rude. Instead, the veterinarian made a small incision to promote drainage. Our dog was then returned to us with a heavily bleeding paw and no bandage. When I asked if they could place even a loose wrap on it just for the walk to the car (with the intention of removing it as soon as we got home), our request was dismissed because the wound needed to drain. Rather than offering any temporary solution, we were asked to wait outside because our dog was bleeding on the clinic floor. A comment was also made that came across as implying that this was simply the consequence of the treatment decision we had made, which felt unnecessary and unprofessional. After about 10 minutes, they finally brought us a puppy pad to protect the floor while we waited for medications. The visit cost over $300, but what was most disappointing wasn't the bill, it was the lack of communication, professionalism, and compassion. I understand that veterinary medicine isn't always straightforward, and there may well have been a foxtail. My concern wasn't the diagnosis itself; it was how poorly everything was explained and how we were treated afterward. read more

The people here at Riverbend are so compassionate and caring. Earlier this week, I had to put my sweet baby kitten to rest and it was the worst moment of my life. The way this team held space for me is so appreciated. It gave this nightmare moment somehow a level of comfort I didn't know was possible. SO appreciate the care from this team! First time boy cat mom, worried about a possible urinary obstruction. Riverbend was actually a referral from another emergency vet clinic. We had a really great experience here today, having to take our semi-feral cat in for a possible UTI. Another hospital refused to see her when we got there due to her spicy-ness & also quoted us $1000+ minimum to bring her back to them tmrw. We left very stressed and anxious about finding somewhere that would attempt to see her. The front staff and techs at Riverbend were great and very confident they could see our pet even though she's a little spicy. Dr March saw her and was extremely thorough and informative, we felt very comfortable with our pet in her care, as well as the vet tech who admitted and discharged us. Not only were they able to handle her, they said she wasn't nearly as bad as some cats can be lol. We got a successful visit and peace of mind that she is okay. We will absolutely be back here for any urgent needs and will recommend them to everyone we know. Thank you so much again to the whole staff here, knowing we have somewhere to bring her even with her attitude is such a relief. The pricing was also very very fair, so much more reasonable. 10/10 experience here. If Dr. March did general wellness appointments we would be bringing all our pets to her for real. Riverbend = Best Vet Ever (and My Dog Agrees!) A few weeks ago, I brought my pup Sparky to Riverbend for the first time--and WOW. He got amazing care, and my wallet didn't cry afterward. Win-win! Fast forward to yesterday: Sparky hurt his paw (dramatic limp and all), so back to Riverbend we went. Once again, they took incredible care of him. The vet checked out his paw, clipped his nails (bonus!), gave him a pain med, and made sure he left feeling like a champ. And get this--because we had just been in recently, they gave me a discount AND refunded part of the deposit I had paid when booking the appointment! Instead of the usual $140 just to be seen, we paid less than that for the whole visit. What kind of magical vet clinic does that?! Friendly staff, fantastic care, and prices that actually feel fair. Order: Sick Puppy Pros: I was able to get seen the same day with no long wait. The Dr. was very very attentive to Sir'Toto's needs and issues. She listened, engaged, and even made Sir'Toto feel welcomed. She sent me home with medicine and some dog food as my pup wasnt eating. She even followed up with a phone call as she said she would a couple of days later to check on us. Cons: the Dr. mentioned that we needed a 7 day supply of medicine for 2x daily usage. That would have put us at 14 pills. However, we were charged $90 for 28 pills, which we didnt need per her instructions of only taken 2 pills for seven days. These pills are also individually wrapped by 14 so I was confused by that. We were also charged for a few cans of food but I didnt see the charge on the receipt. I only found this out when the Dr. mentioned it during a follow up call. My pup didnt eat the food and she did say we could bring the cans back. *Making an edit to this review. The Dr. followed up again to check on Sir'Toto and to explain that he was suppose to take 2 pills 2x daily for a total of 4 pills. Evidently, I miss read the instructions. Non the less, she mentioned I could get the credit back for those pills. My pup is doing great even with the low dosage and I still had a wonderful experience overall. read more

Excellent urgent care visit. My chiweenie was having issues with runny eyes and I was unable to get care from two different 24/7 emergency centers. I called and left a message which was returned promptly. Wait time was almost immediate. The team works together efficiently and responsively to get you the care you need. After a terrible experience at a different emergency vet, we took our cat to Riverbend. We should've taken her here in the first place. Dr. Powell and her team were absolutely amazing. They were so helpful, supportive, and thorough from start to finish. After their care, our cat was able to heal and finally be herself again. We also arrived about 1.5-2hrs before closing and they didn't rush us or made us feel rushed once it passed their closing time. They also ran an ultrasound, X-rays, and provided us with medication -- the cost was half of what we paid at the crappy location we initially went to. We were shocked that we paid less for the same treatments we received at the other location. Please note, this urgent care isn't an overnight location. They do close. Great experience!! If you are dealing with an urgent issue and are looking for an honest kind urgent care, this is it. Wait time was minimal. The staff were all so kind and took great care of my cat. Powell and March drop everything to help me with my pup, the support staff was amazing and so sweet with my poor baby. I can't get over how wonderful everyone was at Riverbend Urgent Care. My dog had an abscessed anal gland that had burst. They were recommended to me by my primary care vet since they didn't have capacity. I called ahead and arrived at 6 pm. They got us into a room immediately and we were out of there by 9:30. They sedated him, performed the procedure and then watched him closely after. It was also crazy affordable for an emergency procedure. I couldn't get into my regular vet so took him to Riverbend, which is an Urgent Care. We got EXCELLENT care from EVERYONE. The front desk was efficient and helpful and the Tech (Mindy) and the Vet (Dr. March) were very thorough and gentle. My dog is a tri-pawd with enough health issues that he has learned to be guarded at the vet but he *loves* Mindy and he climbed on Dr. March's lap while we were chatting and rolled over so she could rub his belly. He doesn't do this often and he has never done it at the vet. Everyone really went out of their way to reduce his stress as much as possible. But the most important thing is that he got great medical care. They addressed the problem, gave me medications and were clear with the instructions. A couple of days after our visit Mindy called me at home to check in. My regular vet sends an email to follow up after an appointment so getting a phone call impressed me. When my horse accidentally stepped on my Rat Terrier, Cricket, it was an emergency, and I took her to one of the 24-hour veterinary clinics on Thursday evening. Their costs were beyond my means, and they offered pain meds and to think about having Cricket euthanized because her leg was probably beyond repair. I was sent home with pain meds. The next morning, I phoned my regular vet, and they were booked but recommended some urgent care veterinarians in Portland. I called River Bend, and they said to bring Cricket in immediately. They took a radiograph, and Cricket's leg was broken. The break was not a crushing one, but it was a clean break. But Cricket is a senior dog, and because of her age, I should think about euthanasia. I cried on the way out and said, "I'll think about it." After thinking about the image of the break, Dr. Powell said we could put her in a splint, and it would take up to 8 weeks. On my drive home, I called Dr. Powell and said, "I've decided Cricket's leg will heal if we go with the splint treatment." It was a rough few weeks, and then Cricket settled into having the splint on. She is fully recovered. I'm so grateful for Dr. Powell, the vet techs, and the staff at River Bend who helped Cricket return to a fully functional, happy Rat Terrier loving the farm life. River Bend was the right place for Cricket, and they helped keep the costs down for me. They have excellent staff. Dr. Powell is a kind, caring, and thoughtful veterinarian! read more

Always a good idea to call ahead, and I happen to luck out. A lot of places will keep you waiting for hours, but she put me on the "waiting list" over the phone so long as I was heading straight over, so when we got there we started our paperwork and got my dog seen right away. The doctor came in after a brief exam and discussed all my options with me, and was open to my wanting to start slowly before jumping into anything expensive or invasive. Turns out it was a simple problem and the basic path was the best one, so I'm glad she didn't try and pressure me for more. I was also surprised at how low the bill was. I thought it would be at least three times as much, but it was completely reasonable and they told me all the pricing upfront anyway so I knew what I was getting into. I do wish I could've stayed with my dog while they examined her, but other than that I would completely recommend Riverbend over Dove Lewis. read more

I had an absolutely horrible experience with Dr. Cassandra Powell. My 11 pound Italian Greyhound was brought in after falling 2 stories down a nearly vertical embankment landing on the concrete below. When he was brought in it was very clear that he'd suffered a severe head trauma at the very least and unknown spinal or shoulder injuries. He wasn't putting any weight on his right leg and could barely stay upright because he was stumbling around. Dr. Powell's examination was so superficial that she didn't even notice the deep lacerations on his neck which would have explained alot about his neck/shoulder injuries. She didn't even recommend any diagnostics other than an abdominal ultrasound even though his injuries were clearly neurological and bone/joint/spine related. Suffice it to say we ended up at Dove Lewis by the next day so the $200 I spend at Riverbend was a complete waste of money and my sweet pup endured an additional 24 hours of agony before being put on the appropriate pain medications. read more
