Poker room is new and physically nice but playing poker there is brutal. Very poor customer service. Management doesn't appear to care. Dealers are mechanically good but lack training and working in a professional poker culture. You lose your chips you can't rebuy from the dealer. (whaaaat?) You have to go back to the cashier and stand in line. Sometimes they have chip runners but they have to wait in the same line. I went to Rivers on a Thursday night after reading a lot of the reviews on Yelp. Figured I would give it a chance. Took a +1 with me. Glad I did. I didn't encounter any of the issues in a lot of the negative reviews on here. There was no issue with Security not letting us in (in fact they waived us in), no issue with hovering around tables watching, trying to decide if we wanted to play or not, and no issue with slots being tight. In fact it was the opposite, the slots were paying out, especially the penny slots. My +1 hit a bit of money on a penny slot and then hit again on a 2 cent slot. It was crowded, but not too crowded. I will note that the tables were a bit packed though. I feel that a lot of the negative reviews were from people that went on weekends, which is the time that casinos notoriously tighten the slots and take all the money. My car was stolen from the parking lot of the casino on Saturday night , 8/12/23. It was all caught on the surveillance cameras of the casino but somehow no one saw it happen. The employees questioned us asking us are you sure you parked in that spot even with broken glass in the parking space and asked us if we left the key FOB in the car. They also promised to give us a ride home and then they wouldn't. The car was parked 150 feet from the main entrance. The casino is taking no responsibility for this and have not even called us as promised and we have called them several times! I really like to love this place. Especially they are smoke-free and have decent restaurants (the frog legs at "Hugo Frog" is a die-for and "Mian" has good Chinese fast foods). However, they do need to loosen the slots a little bit. I pressed the "Flamingo Fever" 25 consecutive times and without one hit. The same case for "China Shore" and others. Went here about a month ago and my experience the second time was just as good as the first. I did not win any money this time around but hey, you win some you lose some. But we did stop in at Hugo's Frog Bar and the food is delicious ( so are their drinks). The staff at Rivers is friendly so it makes it an enjoyable experience. I am a lover of coffee so you know that I am automatically a huge fan of the coffee bar inside of the casino. Mostly because it is open late and they serve delicious coffee. I go the red velvet frappe I believe it was and it oh my goodness it was so good. Another great thing about this casino is the large amount of parking they have at this casino. worst experience of my life. I Was betting at the sports book and they asked for my social. I said ok let me find it. they said write down your social security number now or I'm calling security. I said give me a second. he didn't listen and he called security . 6 security arrived and demanded I give my social. I said I can't find it. The Team of security escorted me to my car and made me get my social and escorted me back to the sports book where I was forced to give up my social. Very busy casino. This casino is close to the airport and surrounded by multiple very large hotels in Rosemont. Walked in on a Wednesday night and the place was packed. They have a very large selection of slot machines and lots of table games around the casino. However if you're a big poker player they do not have a poker room. There are multiple bars with one big one in the center and they do have servers walking around take care of you. There are several restaurants in the casino although I did not get a chance to try them. This was a great visit as all my past visits here have been. If you like to gamble and you're in Chicago this place would be my recommendation. read more

I've been reading these reviews and I am baffled. I find this casino to be one of the best! The staff is always courteous, friendly and actually fun to get to know. My husband and I usually win on the slots and I have never had a problem getting comps. You've got to tip, folks! Be friendly NOT rude to them. (They are doing their job.) My husband and I came here with pretty high expectations because of the hype in the area about this casino, but honestly we weren't all that impressed. There aren't self-serve beverage stations at all. All drinks have to be ordered through a waitress, which makes me feel obligated to tip for drinks I always get free at other casinos. I have no problem tipping wait staff but in this case it feels like a crazy nickel and dime scheme that takes all of the luxury experience out of the equation. I hoped alcoholic beverages were less expensive as a way to make up for the lack of drink stations, but nope, my husband and I each had a drink and it was $20. The same two drinks are $7.50 for both of us at the casino we usually go to. Also, the entire place was smaller than we expected and it was hard to find a video slot machine to play because of a combination of limited selection and other people playing two machines at once. The players club is also a letdown - we were disappointed that new members don't get any free play, actually there was not a single promotion available to us. We paid and while waiting for our food, we ate about 4 onion rings that they brought to an empty table. Nobody touched them, nobody wanted them. On August 22, 2024 I tried to enter Rivers Casino via the entrance connected to the parking garage. There was a two-step entry process, first a metal detector and then an employee, checking IDs. Upon reaching the ID counter, I handed him my REAL ID-compliant global entry card. It was then that I was initially refused on the basis that they did not accept that form of ID. I asked him to run it through the ID scanner to verify that it was in fact a legitimate form of identification proving I am 25, but he refused. I asked to speak to a manager at this point because I was confused regarding the refusal. Per the attached Rivers Casino guidelines, "Only the following forms of identification are acceptable:...Photo identification cards issued by government entities located within the United States or U.S. territories and possessions." My Global Entry ID was issued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in connection with TSA and the Department of Homeland Security. All three of those entities are within the United States government. My ID also had my photograph on it, meaning it complied with both prongs of the casino's own identification requirements. When I asked the manager why my ID was being rejected he stated they don't accept the kind of ID I was presenting, however according to policy they ONLY accept the form of ID I was presenting. When I pushed for further explanation given the discrepancy in policy implementation he rudely stated, "You're not getting in today" and walked off before I could finish my questions. Until this point I had not been aggressive nor had I raised my voice so I was very taken aback. Another manager present was just as unhelpful in explaining why their actions did not match the standards set by the casino's published policy. Came during our trip to Chicago because we dont have any casinos close to us in Texas and we like to gamble. This casino really disappointed me. It was really small and very expensive. I'm sure you're wondering how one casino could be more expensive than another. I couldnt find any video poker to play for less than $1 a hand unless it was multiplay (3 min) which in that case I would be betting a good amount on full odds. I went and played slots for a while but stopped because I wasnt having fun. Not hitting any bonus rounds, I was just sucking my "entertainment" money into the machines and not being entertained at all. There is no video poker at the bar. Strange, but at least when I stopped gambling and went to the bar for a drink I wasnt sucking more money into the casino's pocket. This place has been an adult Chuck E. Cheese for me. My review is based on my experience with the facility, not necessarily the outcome of my gambling. There's always ample parking. I've never used valet here, and it looks like they're pretty well-staffed. Walking in, it's very clean and well-maintained in comparison to other casinos. It's only one floor of slots and tables. I try not to visit during the weekends as it's super packed and minimums for table games are higher. I like to go during the week as the roulette table's minimum is between $5-15. Pretty reasonable. Slots are maintained as well, and from my observation, any malfunctioning machines are troubleshooted right away. There are penny slots to $1 ones, and high roller area. There's a lot of different food options... they have a cafe, steakhouse, lotus bar, Flipt, buffet, ramen, and I'm sure there are others. It seems like it's worth becoming a preferred membership as you get some exclusive perks like food discounts, priority at the cash out line, and I'm sure a bunch of other perks (I'm not a member). read more

My husband and I were at the Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, iL today to watch NCAA basketball, make bets, have a few drinks, and eat some food. The bar and betting area was standing room only... We found 2 seats at the bar and proceeded to enjoy our day....Everyone else at the bar were watching the basketball games and drinking. After 2 hours, my husband went to the bathroom. That is when a bartender came over and moved our drinks over in front of me, washed down where my husband had been sitting, and told me that this chair/space was reserved for a person who wanted to bet on the game on the bar. I said that there are games in front of every person sitting at the bar.. why are you taking our chair. She told me "he likes to sit here." She told me that we had to give up our seat... I complained to the bar manager and we left.... FYI- If the bar is packed and no place to sit.... After spending time and money in the finest establishments of that type in Las Vegas, you can't give Rivers Casino more than 3 stars. If you're willing to do so, I couldn't imagine any reasonable justification behind that. I think it's the only one casino in Chicagoland, thus it gets busy. Very busy. 1 a.m. yesterday was swirling. It was also pretty loud, impossible for me to focus. The staff should take lessons from their Las Vegas counterparts. Minimum bet on the roulette table is $25.. That's like hanging a banner at the entrance, saying "We welcome you ladies and gentlemen at Rosemont casino! We want to remind you that this is a place where we WANT YOU TO LOSE YOUR MONEY." While the Las Vegas casinos trying to hide that message by offering laid back, worries-free environment, in Chicago we prefer to rub it all in your face. "Look at the minimum bets. Understood?" Having said all that, I absolutely love driving up to the complex at night enjoying the architectural design, all lit up. The covered parking, the main entrance, the tunnel, the floors covered with patterned rugs, the escalators, the rest area, the restaurants and buffets, the Cube - all that looks fantastic while you're approaching it. Today, February 11, 2023 this Casino robbed me. I haven't been to a Casino in many years but today decided to meet some friends. Went to the Roulette table, put down $100 and got chips. I put half of the chips on red and it hit red. Then I put my winnings on black and it hit black. I had to get back to the bar for a drink, so tried to cash in my chips. Turns out I had the get "value" for my chips. Went back to the table and they only gave me $40 worth of Chips for my $200. They tried to explain it was only $40 worth which makes no sense. I've been going here for like 10 years but I will NEVER got back. I was so angry that I gave my $40 worth to the bathroom attendant. I hope this establishment feels happy about robbing me. Came here on a Tuesday evening for a work function with approx 150 people. We had the Cube room and I dreaded the food but it turns out whomever grills their veggies did a decent job. I stayed away from the alcohol. Shocker! I know and sipped on soda water with lime while I hit a few $0.25 slots. I didn't see my favorite Willy Wonka machine but I didn't stay long at all. I'm not real big on casinos but I can see where this would be a pretty excellent option if you live in the area and like this sort of thing. I could be totally wrong, but it may be your only option as far as a casino goes around here. The most noticeable 5 Star experience is the lack of smoke. As a non smoker walking into a casino and being able to breathe is a huge plus! Loved this part. My contacts don't burn, I'm not aging my skin or cutting days off my life by breathing in second hand smoke. You can also wear anything without having to worry about dry cleaning expenses and having your wardrobe smell like smoke upon leaving. Great experience for those who don't smoke. They also card you upon entry which is always an ego boost ;) if people are planning on dropping cash at a casino you might as well make them feel good about themselves as they walk through the door. Maybe this will be a bit of an unfair review since it's based off my first visit which happened to be opening weekend. But hey, you have to make a first good impression Rivers! It was a "meh. I've experienced better" impression (as Yelp defines two stars). Of course, it was busy as all hell here...to the point where every single table was full and seat occupied. I was walking the floor for three hours or so and didn't play a thing. Take my money Rivers! Granted, I'm not a big gambler to begin with, but even my friend (whose birthday we were celebrating) had to patiently hover over a table for about half an hour before sitting. Rivers is definitely smaller than it seems. So to the bar then? Uh...if you have the patience for it. At any given time, there seemed to be one competent bartender and maybe three or four really pretty women attempting to serve drinks. There's a big difference there. And the buffet was probably the weakest casino buffet I'd ever been to. Maybe I'm spoiled by Friday night crab legs elsewhere, but I didn't find anything here that made me go up and go for more. It was also inconsistent - my friend would grab some great fried chicken, then I would grab a plate of salt-lick-flavored chicken. When was the last time you pulled into a parking garage, was able to just take a glance around and find a spot without having to drive up and down every single aisle!?? It was just last night for us. The parking garage here wis equipped with red/green lights that suspend from the ceiling over every single parking spot so u can take a peek at every level to decide if there is a spot close enough to the entrance for you. Cool right???? There is a sign when u pull in the garage that tells u how many spots remain open on each level. So cool right? That's not even the fun part. If you don't look twelve years old, they don't do much carding here but it seems on Friday nights, they make an effort to double check from what I can tell. Security is constantly walking around. The staff here is attentive and helpful. The whole casino is set up in a circular shape. Bar: smack dab in the center of the whole place. Drinks totally reasonable! 4bucks for a sky vodka mixed cocktail. 3 bucks for a domestic beer. Surrounding the bar: tables! Craps, blackjack, roulette, you name it, they pretty much got it. Surrounding the tables (moving outward): the machines! Anything from a penny to 5 or 10 bucks. The perimeter of the place is where it's at!! The really fun machines are on the wall. Sex and the city, ghostbusters, monopoly, etc. good times against that wall. You know these are the popular games, because, these machines are difficult to get at. The machines we have hit on were actually the games in the middle of the casino, not the ones against the wall. But I'm a big fan of the monopoly game, so I try to sneak in there if possible. The whole place is surrounded by restaurants. Hugo's frog bar, a little diner, the buffet, a little Asian place, and various others. They hope that if u win, you will eat. They price things reasonably (cocktails, for example) so u spend your money on the machines or at the tables. No smoking. Thank goodness. If you want good advice, only bring in what you are willing to lose. That's what we always do. If you are loosing, hit the road jack! If you win big, take the money and run! Had a fun time here. I play 3 card poker once in a while and needed a refresher to get back into play. The dealers were very patient, kind, and professional. There isn't a ton of smoke here. It was a very pleasant environment. Best of all, I won a couple bucks. What more can you ask for?
