Rivers End Campground has much to be desired, and the demeanor of their staff will make you feel very unwelcome. Let me start by saying that it was not my first choice to stay on Tybee Island to begin with, but we had some family coming to visit from Arizona with only two months notice which did not provide ample time to get a campsite at Jekyll Island which is where we have always had great experiences. I had heard nice things about Tybee Island, and thought that it was close enough we could still check out Jekyll with our family at least one of the days we were going to be there. However, Rivers End Campground managed to not only ruin our vacation experience with them, but to also ruin our day at Jekyll. You see, at about 7pm I wanted to call ahead and make sure my husband would not have trouble checking in late since he was driving there with my father-in-law and our nieces, with me to join them the following day, and the person who was working the after hours late check in could not have made a worst impression. I clearly had disturbed him by asking how to find the paperwork, site, etc., since my husband would not be there until close to 10 pm. He was rude and down right mean, sounding distracted the entire time he was talking to me, and said that he cannot help me unless we are there before he is done for the day by 10pm. I apologized for having disturbed him since I was obviously such an inconvenience, at which point the conversation became even more hostile on his part -- this made me very upset considering I has already spent close to $300 to camp here for a mere 4 nights. It is not even the fact that this is a ridiculously over priced campgound, but the fact that someone would be so rude to a person who is paying for the services that the company provides -- worse, that it was our first (and LAST) time of ever using this campground. My husband did end up making it there before 10pm and the person who helped him, who I can only assume was the same person I spoke to over the phone, assisted him, and he gave my husband the impression that he was all set and checked in. My husband went about setting up the RV and feeding the kiddos, himself, and his dad, then off to sleep they went to be well rested for an exciting day at Jekyll the next day. It was the next day that they took their time in getting ready and were on the road to Jekyll by mid-day. It took a bit longer than expected to get there, so after a 2 hour trip and only having been there for less than an hour, my husband received a call from a staff person at Rivers End Campground stating that he must return before 6pm so that hey can swipe our credit card to pay the remaining balance. This was never told to him by the person who checked him in the previous night, and he would have done that first thing in the morning had he known. The staff of Rivers End would not permit him to provide the card number over the phone as we had done when we made the reservation, and even though we were going to be there for 3 more nights, he was told that he MUST return to swipe the credit card. My husband even explained that he was at Jekyll, but the staff of Rivers End did not care one bit about that, or that they were ruining the day. My husband, out of fear that they would have our travel trailer towed, headed back to Rivers End after only a hour at Jekyll, and missed out on taking his dad to his favorite BBQ place because of this situation. I arrived later that night to join my family, and was appaupled by the condition of the campground. They certainly have done everything they could to pack RVs into every square inch of the property, and it felt so crammed in close to others that I could literally hear the people around me breathing in their sleep! The following day I was able to see Rivers End in daylight and was far more disappointed that we had spent so much money to stay there when the facilities were so terrible. It was nothing but disappointment, and I recommend that you never trust Rivers End with your family vacation. Requesting assistance from the staff in any fashion makes you feel like an inconvenience to them despite the fact that you should be enjoying time with your family on vacation. I did not want to make a big fuss about all of this when I had been there because I was trying to make sure our family was having a good time. It was the following week that I called Rivers Endto speak with a manager, once my family had returned home, and I spoke with someone named Stephanie who had very little compassion about what had happened. Although she did state that there was no reason the trip to Jekyll had to be ruined to return early to swipe the card, she could offer nothing to rectify the issue at that point. She did not offer any sincere apology for our bad experience, and actually just made me feel worse for bringing up the problems that my family experienced at Rivers End. We have stayed at Rivers End Campground many times, as my daughters are students at SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design). Savannah is only about a 20 to 25 minute drive. We get the best of both worlds -seeing the city then returning to the quiet on Tybee. We have stayed at Rivers End in our class C RV. The sites are relatively small but I have my favorite one. The Wi-Fi is hit or miss. We don't use the showers because we rent a full hook up site and get cleaned up in our own RV. My daughter stayed in the primitive area this summer and said the tents sites were extremely small and you could hear other campers like they were in your own tent. So, I'm not sure I would like it if we were in a tent but with our RV, it was nice enough. We always take our bikes to ride to the north beach because it is about a 1/2+ mile away. If we want to go to the south beach, by the pier, we drive a rental car. Dogs are not allowed on the public beach but there is a small dog park next to the campground. We have used their laundry facilities and small in ground swimming pool on one cool, windy day. All are acceptable. My stays at Rivers End have been fine. read more

Firewood for sale with free delivery! Quiet time from 11-8 so not fires or generators during that time. Pet friendly with dog park! Nice lay out- can also use tent slots for rent! read more

We have stayed at River's End many times. Each time has been wonderful and it's our favorite place to stay and the closest beach to Athens, Ga. The sites are very well kept and the staff members are always very friendly. The streets are paved and each site has a paved parking spot for our travel trailer and is surrounded by white gravel. The beach is very close by and less crowded on that end of the island. The park is well landscaped with palm trees, palmettos and rose bushes. The Spanish moss hanging from the live oaks is absolutely beautiful! Love the seafood on the island and the laid back atmosphere! read more

We stayed at Rivers End during a vintage rv rally. Had a wonderful time. Campground is walking distance to beach and to river for fishing. Loved our stay over weekend. We have a 40 ft fifth wheel and had very comfortable pull through. Give it a five!! read more

The staff is wonderful and the campsite is very well maintained and of course the location is great-just a very short walk/bike ride to the beach or really anywhere on the island. We love this campground. We love the close proximity to the beach. We ride our bikes and it takes maybe 3 minutes to ride there. The staff has always been helpful and friendly, but as experienced campers, we know to make reservations and not arrive after hours. If we were going to be late, we would call ahead to confirm our site. Looking forward to staying there in September. read more

Seems like most of them are tent individuals. I picked this campground because my friends have given it great reviews and because of its location. We loved our stay at Rivers End Campground. We stayed in a tent on site 72 which was perfect. It offered shade, electric, and water. The sites also have picnic tables and a fire ring. Just a short walk to the beach from the campground. Staff was very nice and friendly. Campground was nice and clean. Very close to all restaurants. this place was awesome! when we got there though there were no postings of available sites so we just drove around to find our tent site. we set up and walked the 15 minute walk right to the beautiful beaches where we saw DOLPHINS swimming around! absolutely amazing! you're a quick car trip to downtown savannah too which is awesome. the place is pretty quiet and chill. the sites are tidy with no tree branches and whatnot. the shower/bath facilities aren't the cleanest but, you are camping and they're air conditioned which helps! even though right when you step back outside you're going to get disgustingly sweaty again, haha. the night that we stayed there was actually thunderstorms so severe the owners came around and had all the tent folks come in their movie room to stay safe. we took down our tent because my little sister was petrified. after about 30 minutes the storms had passed and all the tenters went back to their tents. the owners were super nice though and let us stay in the movie room for the night with the a/c and television my kid sister felt right at home. the place is great and if you're looking to camp somewhere i would definitely reccommend staying here! :) read more

Very noisy, our campsite was directly beside a neighborhood street with lots of traffic, loud trucks, trash trucks and school buses every day. Campsites are VERY close. How close, you ask? 1. So close that we couldn't let out the awning on our RV for fear of hitting the next one. 2. So close if I sat at the picnic table the RV next to us could hand me a drink out their window. 3. So close we could not recline in our chairs, because there was not enough room. 4. So close we did not use the fire-ring for fear of scorching the paint or burning down the RV next to us. Last but not least the staff was neither friendly or rude, I think they were robots impersonating humans. Since this is the only campground, we won't be back to Tybee. read more

We loved this campground and hope to return sometime in the future. The campground setting is large trees draped with Spanish moss and small palm trees. It has numerous individual bathrooms/showers that are very clean and the laundry is wonderful. The office/campground store has more useful items than I am used to seeing -- so that was great as well! It was easy access to the various beaches and we were able to bike around town easily. The other amenities were good -- nice electrical, water, and sewer connections. We saw tenters in the campground -- they had nice wooded nooks away from the rest of the RV'ers. The campground is adjacent to the water treatment plant -- but surprisingly we never smelled a thing. The staff were incredibly helpful -- especially Rosie and Mike. We have been camping for 4 months all over the country (with our 3 kids ages 9, 11, & 13) and we have seen a lot of campgrounds -- and this campground is at the top of our list -- which is why we ended up staying 5 days longer than we had planned. read more

I've been coming to Tybee since I was 9 years old; it is my place of peace. Naturally, when it came time for my family to take a vacation, this is where I wanted to go. We were able to go, a few times, but not consistently go due to affordability. So, in my search of trying to find a more affordable place to stay, we found these cabins. What I love the most is you have the camp like feeling without some of the ruggedness. I love getting up in the morning under the dew covered mossy trees and perking coffee and frying bacon and eggs on a camp stove, then jumping in the shower (right there in your cabin) and getting ready for your day. It offers a mini fridge and microwave so making lunches to take to the beach is easy!! In the evenings we usually go get the local shrimp and whatever else we want to grill and sit under the stars listening to all of the amazing sounds nature has to offer there. I always budget for Spanky's chicken fingers and one night of dining out, the rest you can do yourself. I am all for affordability. The cabins are adorable, private bathrooms, camp like setting, the staff is friendly, and the location is amazingly quiet and a very short walk to the beach. I saw one post that stated "A very long walk to the beach". If you're going to the main beach, then yes, it is a nice hike. However, if you go to the back beach (short walk through a neighborhood and a beautiful little path) then it takes less than 10 minutes. Heck, my five year old can make it without having an asthma attack (which is an issue in his life) so I am not sure what the problem was there. If you live your life expecting things to be a mess, you'll get a mess. If you want a nice, quiet getaway you can enjoy with your family and not have to take out a personal loan to do so, this is where you need to go. read more

I have not stayed at River's End for app. 5 yr's., but the last time we stayed there we paid around $25 per night, when a private family or company owned it. The campsite was a little tight, but for the money, and the location to the ocean, we enjoyed our stay. I recently tried to reserve a site there and saw where it was around $55-65 per night. That is way too high assuming that the campground has not changed. Then reading some of the reviews, I cannot understand why anyone would want to stay there. Campgrounds that are too tight to have any privacy, and to charge that much, should be boycotted by RV'ers. As long we continue to go to these places and pay them what they ask, they will continue to exist. read more

Nice enough campground, but had some problems. Their wifi is terrible and when I mentioned that to the front desk folks, they didn't seem to care much. They did suggest that they didn't have enough bandwidth, blah, blah, blah...well, get some more! Absolutely no scheduled activites for kids. And loaded with gnats and mosquitos so if you want to spend anytime outside at campground you will get eaten alive. The day we were supposed to leave our truck broke down. So we had to get towed and fixed. In the mean time they told us that we had to move our travel trailer off our site because someone else was coming in. Plenty of other sites to choose from btw. So for 4-5 hrs i had to somehow entertain , and feed my 2 kids and dog without being able to get inside our trailer. They told me i could walk to the nearest restaurant if we get hungry. Gee thanks and what am supposed to do with the dog? Awful, dont recommend it and will never be back! read more

The first time I went to Rivers End was in 2008 and I liked it so much that my husband takes me every year in October for 2 weeks. We reserve the same site each year and I love that there is a swimming pool in the campground because the beach is a little bit of a walk but not too far. Restaurants and shops are close enough to walk or ride a bike and it's located a couple of blocks from the lighthouse. The bath-houses are large and private and on the weekends they have an outdoor movie when the sun goes down right next to the pool and sometimes a potluck dinner that all the campers can participate in. I really enjoyed it. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the campground hosts are great. There is also a laundry room on site (that was a plus). Some of my relatives come and stay in the cabins there and we have a blast. The property is well kept. I love the trees and plants. As far as price, it is the most expensive campground I've ever visited at about 50 dollars a night for full hook-ups and the sites are very close. Unfortunately my husband was hurt and we weren't able to go last year but I'm reserved for this year and looking forward to it. Packed and ready to go!!! tempest m. Bonaire,ga. read more

We stayed at Rivers End in the past two weeks and there are several suggestions we have to make this a better experience for future campers. First, our campsite (137) required a lot of work to level our RV because the site was not level. Second, our slot was listed as a pull thru but because of parking in the tent area we had to back in anyway. Third, restrooms were somewhat clean but could use more frequent checks from staff. Fourth, the Wifi NEVER works. However, the location is good and the staff is friendly. read more

Staff is incredible rude! Seemed nice when we booked and paid on phone, when we got into our late check in they had not reserved our space or left directions for us as they said they would. The park was full and we had just driven 9 hours. It was hot and humid. I called all of the numbers listed for the park and no one picked up any of them. IThe last number I called was for emergencies and it turns out it was police dispatch. They called the managers of the park and spoke to them telling him of our problem he refused to speak to us. The dispatch game me his number and I tried to call him but he wouldn't pick up the phone. The dispatcher felt sorry for us and said we could park in the police parking lot overnight. We were so tired we did but we couldn't sleep because it was so hot and sticky and we didn't have hookups and couldn't run our air conditioning. We tried to find a hotel but they were all booked. First thing in the morning I went to the office to talk to the manager and they told me he wasn't in. I told them what had happened and they were very rude and defensive and said that it was their policy not to help customers after hours. I could understand if we had just show up but not only did we have a reservation but we also had paid for it.i t was their error that they did not mark it for us or leave a map for us and they couldn't have cared less. In fact when I went in to the office to get my money refunded the initially refused even after I had told them what happened. I told them that we had stayed in the police station. Parking lot and that she could call the dispatcher to verify. She told me that she would in a really smearing way indicating that she did not believe me. I cannot even tell you how far from customer service this was. Do not depend on these people! read more
