I'm Just going to tell it like it is. We live 4 miles away from here and sitting by the river is a beautiful way to enjoy a meal. The service and staff are wonderful and accommodating. The menu is a HUGE disappointment. The prices are ridiculously high for the food served. The food is inconsistent....depending who is in the kitchen. No one is actually in charge and it shows. I could give you examples of the pricing....For example pancakes are $13.00. Strip Loin steak is $32.00....a burger is $17.00. If this was an upscale restaurant with table cloths etc. the prices might be expected- however this is a rustic bare bones diner.....There are never any specials....no soup of the day.....no variations on the menu . The special bread they serve is truly inedible. OMG I wish someone would pay attention and make this the place by the river it deserves to be. No one cares and it shows..... read more

The location of this restaurant is fantastic situated right at waters edge at the intersection of the Appalachian Trail and the Nantahala River. As you dine, you can watch rafts of people and kayakers paddling by. The food was quite good and quite plentiful. I had a salad served to me in a medium sized colander (huge portions!) with grilled salmon extra. I saved half for dinner the next night along with a glass of wine and their peach cobbler. The wait staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Can't wait to go back one day. read more

Everything is a little overpriced but I did like everything I tried both times I ate here. The pizza is really good, I recommend the meat lovers one. The gorge fries are not that impressive, the dipping sauce for them is though. The burgers are good but not great. The sweet potato fries are really good. The service is friendly and somewhat fast. The blackberry cobbler is good. The salads are tasty. They do provide a military discount which is much appreciated. read more

Stopped here for breakfast. So glad we did. Great place for a stop along the road. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside by the river. We really enjoyed listening to the river and watching someone's dog play in the river. Typical breakfast fare. I got eggs, bacon, and toast. Eggs were cooked as requested. Not a huge breakfast selection but hubby was happy they had sausage and gravy. After eating it, he declared it was the best he's had since grandma's! I would definitely come here again! read more

I've been coming to Nantahala since I was a little kid. The River's End is such a convenient stop after a fun day of rafting or zip lining. As a result of COVID they are requiring masks and social distancing each of the tables but the staff is still super friendly and helpful. read more

Visited N.O.C. River's End Restaurant yesterday evening. There was a wait, so we decided to sit at bar and have an adult beverage. The bartender was large, black eyes, blank hair was quite "offended" by our sitting at the bar. He gave no eye contact, no welcoming words, no menu, and his demeanor was stiff and angry toward to retired school teachers from area. I did ask for service and he cut his black eyes towards me, angrily and literally slapped down the cocktail menu in front of us. Waited another 10 minutes to get his service, nooooo. He was making drinks for restaurant, but the insolence I and my teacher friend experienced is unforgivable. Shame on you, NOC. read more

Some of the best food in the area! As soon as we walked in, it smelled amazing. The best dam chicken sandwich really was the best damn chicken sandwich. They do a great job with the grilled chicken, which not a lot of places do. Everything we ordered was genuinely good. The service was excellent. We stopped by for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The ambiance was great. Very cute restaurant with scenic views. The pancakes were great but that was all that impressed us. The server was nice but she was stretched too thin. Lastly, we were served a coffee in a dirty mug (lots of dirt/some type of sediment around the rim). The server replaced this without issue. The price for a cup of coffee is 4$ which I feel is priced way too high. I assume lunch and dinner is a better bet here as it appears they only do breakfast on the weekends. read more

The BEST restaurant in the Bryson City/Almond/Nantahala Gorge area. We ate here 3 times during our weeklong stay and each time we were very happy with the quality of the food and the service. Our last dinner there we ordered the trout, crispy green beans, Caesar wrap, chicken sandwich, and chicken alfredo - everything was delicious. We found this restaurant during a vacation in Bryson City. With 2 vegans and 2 not (one with food allergies), restaurants can be difficult to please all. We enjoyed cauliflower wings, tempeh dishes and some drinks while our children enjoyed burgers and a gluten free pizza with dairy free cheese. What a great find. Highly recommend. read more

Stopped by here on a recommendation from others. It was suggested that we sit to where we can hear the river and we were able to do so. It was as peaceful as was suggested. Our server, Christine, gave a few pointers on watching the rafters coming down the river while waiting on our food. Since it was our first visit we asked for suggestions from the menu and one of them, the Chicken Fried Chicken, was suggested by not only Christine but the couple seated at the table behind us. Since we were traveling didn't really want anything fried so I went with the grilled pork chop with a bourbon cherry glaze and mu husband had a fresh salad with made on-site ranch dressing. He was quasi skeptical of the ranch but upon tasting it said it was one of the better ones he had tasted. My pork chop was perfection and the made from scratch mac and cheese that was with it tasted wonderful, another recommendation from the couple behind us. Christine kept us entertained and drinks refilled and made our first visit enjoyable. On our next travels that way this is a definite stopping point. The parking can be hectic so be aware you may have to park elsewhere and walk to the restaurant. It is wheelchair friendly to get in and out. Go enjoy and tell Christine "Hi". read more
