a breakfast of eggs, toast and biscuits

Riverside Cafe is a must!!! Enormous food portions, yummy home cooked taste, friendly staff, fun decor. Syrup for French toast came in a small pitcher, creamer came in a small teapot. This place is amazing!

Older neighborhood restaurant that has good breakfast brunch. Went on a Saturday morning which was busy but seated quick. You sit where you want which is nice. Customer service is friendly. I got the hungry kid which comes with sausage, bacon, eggs, hash brown and choice of pancake or biscuit and gravy. Went with biscuit n gravy which you can tell it's homemade and real sausage. Loved it. I'm picky about my scramble eggs, this place got it right, thumbs up. My hubby got coffee and he hates having to open the cream for his coffee. This place actually brings you warm milk to use for your coffee. Nice home made breakfast place.

Wish I wouldn't have gobbled down my food before I could take a pic! Honestly, from the outside, it wasn't the nicest looking place. But the food was really good and the server kept my coffee warmed up! We would stop in again for a good, hot breakfast.

Terrible service. Food nasty. Building is old and moldy. The place is run down. Servers are rude and might never wash their hands.

Why do they bother saying you can order them cooked your way? I ordered medium and mine was very well done. Wasn't going to send it back because who knows what happens in the kitchen when you do that? The bun and fixings were fine, but the burger itself was not worth the out-of-the way drive to get there. Fries were OK. Companion had a grilled chicken sandwich, which was reportedly good. If you like a burger that is the least big juicy, I suggest ordering medium rare and see what happens. Otherwise, and this is a positive: nothing fancy, just GOOD. I ordered the #2 Single cheeseburger, my friend had the #5 Double cheeseburger; comes with a side package wrapping of tomato, onion, and lettuce, buns were lightly buttered and toasted. The fries were great and so were the onion rings. Decor was almost museum quality- certainly from a different era: old signs, etc. Friendly and accommodating service. Surprised more people weren't there, but we arrived soon after opening. When we left, people were starting to pour in.

Our server was friendly and helped us choose our meals. We all ended up ordering the Whiskey Beef Stroganoff, which took about 30 minutes to arrive. Everyone enjoyed it, I thought it could have been a little more favorable. He checked on us regularly and offered to sell us more drinks from the bar, but never refilled our water glasses -- unfortunately, water was my drink of choice that night. For dessert, we shared the Wedding Cake and Crème Brûlée, both of which were excellent. As for the ambiance -- I should have listened to my wife. She warned me that they were having live music, and she was right. It was loud -- uncomfortably so. We struggled to have a conversation, and even saw another couple order drinks, pay, and leave because of the volume. Lesson learned. Would we return? Yes, but not on a live music night. Pro tips for servers: keep water glasses full and clear plates after the meal. Miss one of those, and your tip might reflect it.

We had just enough time to grab a cocktail at the bar and enjoy the outside area while we waited. Cheers to the very busy bar team. We were waited on very quickly and our drinks is were well balanced and exactly the same. I ordered the Veggie sandwich with aioli dressing and broccoli salad side salad. I would highly recommend this dish if you want something filling but not overly heavy or hot. My friend ordered the sweet potatoes, her personal favorite, and raved about them. The service was great and the place had a relaxed vibe to it. On a personal note: it was really loud (for my taste) conversations had to be shouted to hear and it's hard to enjoy the great weather and outdoor space with the street noise so close ,the motorcycles that liked to crews by periodically to rev their engines several times during our dinner it made it less than enjoyable dining and for conversation. I love a good patio during nice weather but for me the noise level was so high it was hard to truly enjoy the dining experience as a whole. In general a great place to spend the eve in for dinner and drinks if you don't mind shouting and loud noise throughout your stay.

Our waitress was a little overwhelmed at first and we started to feel a bit worried. First we were seated and it took almost five minutes before she acknowledged us, then she took the drink orders, the Strawberry Lemonade is wonderful with fresh strawberries, which is a little difficult at first to drink because they give you small straws and the fresh fruit clogged them up. That wasn't too much of a problem because the waitress kept forgetting to bring us straws. The food was OK, I can't say wonderful but it was OK. The hamburger was good sized and a nice plate of fries. The chicken with pico served over rice had a good flavor but was overcooked and dry. Luckily they served with a dipping sauce that helped moisten the bites. Overall the meal was average, nothing that took it over the top, but they didn't do enough bad to take it down either. We have eaten there several times in the past, and the one thing that I have noticed every time is the food has been over cooked. The bourbon Salmon has a very good flavor, but dry and overcooked. I don't know if this is from sitting until pick up, or if it was forgotten on the flat top for too long. We came out full, with some leftovers my daughter ate later that night, I am sure we will go back in the future, hopefully it isn't overdone next time.

The first surprise was the size of the restaurant. From the street, it looks fairly modest, but once inside, it opens into a beautiful historic warehouse with exposed brick, an industrial feel, and a lively atmosphere. I also loved discovering the large outdoor patio tucked away behind the building--it would be a fantastic place to enjoy live music on a future visit. We ordered the baby back ribs, which had just been introduced to the menu that evening, and they were incredible. The meat was tender enough to fall right off the bone, the baked beans had just the right amount of spice, and the fries rounded out a great comfort meal. I also enjoyed trying a local cider on tap, and we couldn't resist finishing with the Key Lime Pie Crème Brûlée, which was absolutely delicious. What really stood out was how relaxed the experience felt. Even though the restaurant was busy, we never felt rushed. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was welcoming, and it was the perfect place to unwind after a full day of adventure. If you're visiting Wichita, especially if you're staying in Historic Old Town, I highly recommend adding Public at the Brickyard to your itinerary.
