How gross. we stopped by today because a friend wanted a late and we thought we'd give them another shot. Today is 9/7/2020. The employee we very nice, but wasn't very helpful at suggesting drink. I'm not sure who trains them on drinks, sauce/flavor for cups and temperature but everything about what we got today was wrong. The drink was SO hot it took about 40 minutes for it to cool down and actually try it, when we did it was just flavor syrup in a cup with hot milk. Another thing is there is A LOT of expired product in this store. I'm not sure who check inventory or goes over what's switched out but if it's this old it makes me wonder how old other things we can't use are. I'll never visit here again. And if I could give 0 stars I totally would.

I stopped in today with a friend who suggested the location. We were excited to try the baked goods we saw and didn't hesitate to buy. I think I should've hesitated a bit more however. The Basbousa semolina cake I bought was molded. I should've looked closer in the store however I didn't think they would sell something molded over, especially as a mom and pop looking shop.

Please do not order the blueberry or hibiscus ice tea, too much food coloring and it tastes like nothing.

Cute little coffee shop and creamery around the heart of historic Occoquan! Their cappuccino is very good. Only one thing, may I please suggest carrying brown sugar as well? Some of us, me included, prefer raw sugar in our coffee. Thanks! Otherwise, all else was good.

When I was a lot younger, and lived in Woodbridge, my parents and I would go to Occoquan every few weeks. From what I remember, while we were there, we would get ice cream at a little shop that seemed a bit secluded from other main road, and had tables with attached seats and umbrellas to the side of the shop. It is definitely one of my favorite childhood memories. Fastforward to 2015: I now live in Fairfax, and it is very seldom that I go to Occoquan. When I did manage to make a trip out there, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the shop was still up and running, serving ice cream, with the tables still to the side of the shop. When I walked in, my childhood memories seemed to rush back into my head. I was, without a doubt, excited to have some ice cream! The cashier was very helpful, and all of the ice cream looked delectable. I ended up getting a scoop of Party Cake (which I guess is their name for Birthday Cake) and a scoop of Cookies n Cream (my two favorite flavors) on an M&M cone. It was quite possibly the best ice cream I've ever had. I'm not quite sure if the shop is still run by the same owner, or if it even goes by the same name it was over 10 years ago, but I am so glad this place still exists after all these years. Occoquan has seemed to have had major renovations done to it over the years, but having this shop still serving ice cream is a real treat in itself.

Located in historic Occoquan VA, it's mainly a chocolate shop that ethically sources its cocoa from different countries around the world in order to make their in house (mostly dark) chocolate bars and bon bons. They also serve gelato, drinking chocolate (hot cocoa) and on select weekends homemade pizza with sourdough via Graffiti Cat! The shop is very small with no seating inside but there are a couple tables and chairs right outside and in the alley (in the winter we just get it to go or eat in the car). Parking is hard as it's very busy and it's on a historic street so it's all on the side of the sidewalk. The drinking chocolate is my favorite! I always have to order a traditional (think American hot cocoa but with a richer feel), and a European drinking chocolate (smaller cup with less milk but so rich like drinking straight melted dark chocolate!, so absolutely delicious!). I often get their bonbons as well which are handmade and have various flavors like toasted coconut, Ugandan Dark chocolate (named for the country of cocoa origin), raspberry and mint, along with a few others. I got the 70% dark chocolate, the mint chocolate, and the toasted coconut. I liked two of them but the mint chocolate tasted a bit too much like toothpaste to me so I didn't finish that one. Now onto the Pizza. They make their own sourdough for these personal size pizzas, and use fresh ingredients. They have a set menu except for one special pizza which changes each week and is updated on their website. I ordered the margarita pizza and added pepperoni on top. The margarita part was tasty and the sourdough really compliments the ingredients well...if you like sourdough you'll love these pizzas. I would say that the pepperoni is more porky than beefy and since I don't tend to like pork I didn't appreciate it as much as I usually do. If you like pork you will be fine with it. The pizza is NY style in that it is thin and chewy. I think it could use a bit more sauce but it's tasty nonetheless. My husband got the cheese pizza and he enjoyed it but not nearly as much as me (though he doesn't love sourdough like I do). The service is great and I love the adorable cat mascot for the pizza. They hand draw on each pizza box and each one is unique, which is cool. If you look out the window you'll see they 'graffitied' a graffiti cat on the brick on the side of the building. Bon bons: 4/5 Drinking chocolate: 5/5 Pizza: 4/5 TLDR: delicious dark chocolate for drinking and eating; ethically sourced. Pizza pop up on weekends is good and has a cute cartoon cat mascot. Parking sucks, but that's just historic districts for you. I dream of the drinking chocolate and need to get it at least once a month. I definitely recommend both Potomac Chocolate and Graffiti Cat.

They were not overly busy and easy to get to if you're already walking around the downtown area. There's not a lot of parking so expect to look for spots and walk a good distance. Not ideal if you're just going to this area to pick up some food, but its a very nice and unique historic town to visit and see. The variety of choclates is diverse and unique, probably not things you'll find anywhere else. However, many of the varieties are dark chocolate and taste quite bitter. The pizza is unique as well in they use sourdough bread for the crust. Its definitely different, but felt like it overpowered every other flavor on the pizza. Worth a try if you enjoy dark choclates and sourdough, otherwise you may not find much you like to eat here.

As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the sweetest woman, Ms. L, who was incredibly warm and welcoming. We ended up having a lovely conversation about business and Blue Bell ice cream, which happens to be the brand they proudly serve. The shop offers a great variety of treats, including both dispenser-style and individually wrapped candies, along with a selection of specialty sodas. They also serve milkshakes, and while the flavor selection isn't overwhelming, it includes many of the most popular and well-loved options. The space itself is small but clean, inviting, and well kept. While there are no public restrooms, the overall atmosphere makes it a pleasant place to stop in and enjoy a treat. Overall, it was a sweet and enjoyable visit, and a perfect stop if you're in the area and looking to satisfy a craving. Update 4/12/26: We're back! It's Sunday, a beautiful Sunday...so why not have a scoop or two. Ms. L was not working today but service was efficient and the ice cream is scrumptious. I decided on salted caramel with a cake cone this time and my mini chose a scoop of mango in a cup. Delightful!

This place keeps the Belgian brews stocked across the spectrum. From fruity Lambics to Tripels (my personal fave) and Quadrupels, pales to darks. There's a lot to explore here. The food is pretty good too. The frites (fries) are excellent and pair well with the beer. They are thick without veering into steak fry territory, nicely crunchy, and packed with a pleasing amount of salt (and I believe a hint of vinegar). The waffles are also a standout, typically topped with light and airy cream. The merguez lamb sausage is also hearty and delicious. I wish the building itself was larger. There's only a few tables, meaning you may be in for a wait if you go during the colder months. And I recently had the chocolate mousse and didn't care for it. It was much more akin to pudding, and there wasn't a deep enough chocolate flavor to contrast with the whipped cream. There's no better place I've found in Occoquan to eat, drink, and be merry. I highly recommend you stop here when you visit.

I called earlier to ensure that I could cover the tab for a group that volunteered to assist in a cleanup that morning in the Town of Occoquan. I had to stop at another meeting down the road and rushed back and forth. The restaurant Manager, Heather, was very pleasant and kept me informed in order for me to be there before they left. Heather brought Kenny to meet me at the door as our table server. He was very courteous and terrific at providing a top tier service that I always receive here and expect wherever I spend my money when patronizing a business. I have always received great service from everyone here at all times and shifts of the day. The food has always been on par as well. I believe the crux of being here may be the veil of dismalness and lack of TLC. You can smell it and it isn't the poo in the river. When observing the restrooms, trash dumpster and overall condition of the dining room/bar areas, improvements can be made and escalate the business in more ways than they can imagine. To make money (for the owners and employees) you need to spend money. Menu is good and solid, keep the selection and quality. The drinks are more at the Tiki Bar than inside. The staff are terrific, keep the ones that enjoy being there and have the best ones like Kenny, Mike, Heather, and Lenny lead and manage staff and service. Someone independent needs to manage inventory. Money is being drained by too many freebies from the staff and could be used towards a decent toilet to sit on and stall doors to lock.
