First time here. First impressions are everything and we did t get off to the best start. If I make an appointment at 7:30, and arrive at 7:20, I would expect to be welcomed and checked in. I drove an hour and a half to look at a vehicle they had listed, only to find it wasn't as advertised. The salesman then showed us another car, and after discussing the numbers, he went to speak with the manager. We were told the deal was approved and moved forward -- even test‑drove the car, and my daughter fell in love with it. After waiting about 30 minutes for paperwork, the salesman returned and said the dealership would no longer honor the numbers they had just agreed to. At that point, we walked out. So I dropped my Sierra 1500 off yesterday around 1130 for a check engine light. Its been 24 hours with no updates from the service team. I had to reach out to them. The biggest kicker is I asked for a ride home or possible loaner in which I was told no to both. I was told they would have my truck for a few days, so am I supposed to walk. You sale 100k Trucks and SUVs but no one can get a ride home. WTF!!!!!!!! The crazy thing is I have a second vehicle. When I take my Acura in for service in Columbus the treat me like a man who just liberated a whole country and put me in a brand new car always until my service is complete. Predatory, Disrespectful, and Dishonest I went to Rivertown Buick GMC with one simple goal: buy out my lease. What should have been a straightforward transaction turned into one of the most unprofessional and predatory dealership experiences I have ever had. They tacked on thousands of dollars in unnecessary fees, inflating the cost of the vehicle to over $3,000 more than it is actually worth. Fees were added with vague explanations, and every attempt to question them was brushed off or met with attitude. The worst part was the finance office. When we clearly and politely declined extended warranties, the finance employee became hostile. He threw a pen across the table, mocked us, and said, "What, you think the car will never break down? Or you'll never need to fix it?" Once it was clear we would not buy into their extended warranty upsell and he would not earn more commission, his demeanor completely changed. He treated us like garbage, would barely look at us, and rushed through the rest of the paperwork with clear resentment. To make matters worse, Rivertown Buick GMC charged us an additional and completely unnecessary $1,158.15 in TAVT tax, despite us clearly explaining that we are a military family, and that the vehicle was already titled and registered in Florida with no plans to change that. We made this clear from the beginning. They did not care and added the tax anyway. This dealership operates on pressure, intimidation, and misinformation. Once they realize you are an informed buyer who will not fall for warranty or fee scams, their customer service disappears entirely. When we arrived to test drive a vehicle that we are more than qualified for. We were told they "typically" didn't test drive hummers and we could test drive it in the parking lot or in the Hollywood Connections parking lot. After they found out what my fiancé did for a living, they let us test drive it and even let us test drive it on the highway. We were told a number of reasons such as , they didn't let people test drive because at the victory drive location people would come and test drive them and they'd never hear from them again. Doesn't that happen sometimes when people look at cars? Then we were told by a gentleman inside wearing a red shirt because of the horse power and safety reasons but we test drove a Tesla last week that has about the same horsepower and the hummer is equipped with so many safety features. It is 2025, when will we stop assuming things about people ? How are you supposed to sell a car if someone has to ask 3x for a test drive. Our sales person was Kaleb. We were highly considering purchasing a vehicle from them before this unsatisfactory and sketchy experience, but out of all the vehicles I've had and the many times I've been to the dealership I've never got any pushback on test driving a vehicle whatsoever. This place is so unreal. My husband and I was looking at a 2020 Yukon Denali, did the credit check which we have good credit so no problem there but here is where it all starts the bullsh**! This suv seemed to change prices 3 times in less than 24 hours and they will not honor the price that it was listed the day we started the paper work. Not to mention they are trying to tell us that the best finance rate is 9%.... Again we have good credit. They have since figured out we have screen shots of the different prices and the days/times of the different prices and are trying to say it was a computer glitch.... BULLSH** or it would have been put back to the original listed price. Took my 2016 Tahoe (wife's car) into the service department a few weeks back for an issue in the transmission. Was told that the problem occurred because my wife had the Auto selected instead of 2wd. They recommended doing a complete transmission service and stated that they have been having some issues with Tourque converters coming apart. Paid for the repairs and picked up the vehicle. In the next week, the issue, ( shuttering in the transmission during acceleration) was noticeably worse. Brought the vehicle back to the dealership on 10 Dec at 8am. On Thursday, December 13th the service writer called to say that GM just put out a bulliten stating that we need to do a sevice on the transmission and add this new "special fluid". He said that he explained that we just did a transmission service 400 miles ago...but GM says sorry do it again. Service writer states that he is trying to locate the "special fluid" and he would get back to me. On Wednesday 12/18, the service writer called to tell me that they will not have the "special fluid" or adapter to install said fluid until mid January. So basically they said....come get your car and bring it back in late January. It took them over a week to do absolutely nothing and hanmd the issue back to me. The service writer kept stating, I know this sounds crazy but... He did confirm that the "fix" a week ago would have been to replace the Tourque converter but now that the bullitin is out....well that's easy...the answer is "special fluid"....only issue...You don't have any "special fluid" This is a warranty repair....I'm done with this service department, this dealership and GM. read more

A basic oil change, apparently to this company, is first come, first served. (They said over 2 1/2 hours it would take). Rightfully so, except if I have an appointment, it should be honored. The service advisor was very condescending towards me, and got very irritated with me when I asked why it would take so long to be pulled in for service even though I had a scheduled appointment. Also: it would have been nice to Know that there was a shuttle service available. Would have been better than having to wait around there for four hours. I loved my Buick until I had to deal with Mr Gregg at the service center. In the beginning he was really great guy. He was friendly and kind. Then that all changed when I did not bank at a brick and mortar bank and use an online bank instead. I needed a "normal bank card" to rent a car that was to be covered by my warranty. When I returned to the service place he treated me poorly. Blaming me for not having the right card to get the car. I was upset I live here alone no family and friends here. The weekend was going to be here. I had not even made 6 payments on my car and my car had less than 6000 miles on it. Yet, some how this was my fault. I researched the Buick cars when I went to buy one and bought one because I was lead to believe that they were good cars with good service. Mr Gregg went as far to even tell me that I should of never bought the car from CarMax. A Buick is Buick no matter where you buy it from. Buick is a million dollar company and they promise a rental with your warranty, they should have a system in place for situations like this. a customer who lives alone in a city should not be left without a rental when they have a warranty. IT SHOULD NEVER MATTER WHERE YOU BANK THEY SHOULD KEEP THEIR PROMISES WHEN IT COMES TO THEIR WARRANTY. Mr Gregg should not be allowed to treat me in such a way over a bank card and all his coworkers were there and pretending to act like it wasn't happening. My dad had told my mom before he died to take her van to Rivertown Buick. My mom listened to my dad. She has a 2005 Buick Van only 149,000 miles on it , she is also 89 yrs old. She has taken the van over to Buick for other issues which she had to take back several times. Well this time it was the a/c . They had kept her Can for 2 weeks and finally called and said they blew up the compressor. Now let me re-say that "" they blew up the compressor "" . They call my mom and tell her it is going to cost $6,000. To repair the a/c . Oh let he back up and state they kept harassing my mom to seek her van to them .. even call her at home. My mom told them no don't fix it I'm coming to pick it up. We took the van to someone who looked at it and at no charge advised us to take it to Cool Auto on Bellwood dr. Columbus ga . She dropped it off expressed her feelings about Buick and how they had made things worse on the a/c. John at Cool auto spent over 20 hrs.. taking apart the mess that Buick made. Even stating it appeared to be deliberately damaged. He replaced broken parts that he has NEVER had to replace on any other auto.. 6 different parts had to be bought.. after all the time he spent on that van to make my mom happy , he only charged her for 5 hrs of labor.. my mom told Buick she was too old to buy a car and she was happy with her van and would never sell it to them or buy a car from them . I scheduled an appointment for service and was assured that a shuttle would be avaialble to take me to work, leaving a little after 8:15. I was there at 8:05, however the consultant I was told to ask for was unavailable and so Tiffany took on my service. The shuttle left with no warning, and I was told that another would not leave again until 9:15, and so my husband had to leave work to come get me in time for a very important 9AM meeting. Prior to me leaving, I was assured by Tiffany that someone would call me shortly with an estimate of how long the repair would take and if there would be any cost (although when I made my appointment, I was told this would happen before I even left the dealership). However, not only did no one ever call me, but when I called the service department four times over the course of that day, no one could give me a status on my vehicle. Around 4:30 PM I was finally able to get to talk to Greg, who passed me to Tiffany, and I was on hold for over ten minutes - still trying to get a status on my vehicle. I finally was informed that they still did not know what was wrong with my vehicle and that I could come pick up a loaner/rental prior to 5:30. My husband, children, and I raced across town to pick up the loaner, did all paperwork, and I got in the loaner only to find that the gas was EMPTY - the needle was as far past E as it would go and the vehicle was actually shaking and stuttering as I tried to make it to a gas station to get gas. We ended up putting in a full tank of gas that we did not use. The next day I personally went in and met with the service manager, he was very kind and apologetic, and promised to help get things back on track. My car was ready that afternoon and so we went in to pick it up - I was informed by Tiffany that due to our experience, they waived teh cost of the oil change, but given the fact we put more than $40 of gas in the empty car, I would say we barely broke even at best. Also, I would like to note that my vehicle was not washed or vacummed, which is standard at most dealerships when receiving warranty and recall service. I bought my vehicle at a dealership in Alabama because I was warned by everyone in town NOT to do business with Rivertown - now I see why the dealership has the bad reputation that it does. I got my oil changed on my at time brand new AT4 Carbonpro Sierra 1500. Well it had 24606 miles on it so almost new. I was traveling to the mountains afterwards for a vacation. When i got to the blue ridge mountains my low oil pressure light comes on. I have onstar preform a diagnostics test and it comes back nothing so i just tell myself since its the first time driving in the mountains that it was from the steep inclines that i had been driving. so the next day i check the oil and it was about half a quart low so i drove to the nearest dealership and had them take a look. They performed another oil change and informed and showed me the oil that had made a huge mess that all up under the under the truck From where the last person to change the oil RIVERTOWN GMC's oil tech or whatever did not screw and tighten my oil filter properly so i was losing oil and it was spraying my undercarriage which was still nice and new!! read more

But, never in a million years would I figure my family would have to endure such a blatant disregard for our safety from the staff here at Rivertown. I don't consider myself to have all of the riches of the world, however my family is a true treasure and my most precious possession. My retired mother (60 plus years of age) purchased a GMC Acadia Denali from this dealership and had a great experience and loves her vehicle. However, recently she had a blowout, and it was absolutely the most horrifying experience to know my mother who was heading to church was on the side of the road stranded and alone prior to us being able to get to her. Thank God she was fine and nothing serious happened and we were able to get her back up and running in no time. She reached out to Rivertown and they apologized about what happened and asked her to send them a picture of the tire. Mind you, the car only has around 35,000 miles on it and the way the tire burst, the sidewalk is completely detached from the tire. After sending them a picture of the tire the representative told my mother that she probably drove over something that busted the tire. Then told her she was driving around with a low tire pressure. Then told her she probably drove over something that made it start deflating until it couldn't take it anymore and busted. My mother stated none of those accusations were true and that she just had the vehicle fully serviced in September. The representative then told my mother that she could get her a new tire, but she'd have to pay for it. Being that I am a very protective son, i do not appreciate anyone disrespecting my mother by insulting her intelligence. I warn you tread lightly with this dealership. This is the first time anything like this has happened to my family and we were greeted with blame, pointing the finger, and all accountability on our behalf. This is the fourth vehicle my family has purchased from this dealership, however the first since they've changed management. I purchased a coil for my 2006 Cadillac SRX from another dealer (legacy Chevy Filed BBB complaint 11097001) . in less than 30 days the part failed and it was swapped out after extensive questions. 8 months later the same part failed again now they are refusing to honor 1 year warranty. i also filed complaint with GMC and they stated warranty is up to dealership but it should be covered. GMC has been attempting to contact parts department at other dealer and this one and they are not returning calls or coming to the phone as they call. My truck had the same vibration issue the whole time I had it, it was brought in on four seperate occasions and was not fixed. The last time it was brought in, it was there for ten days. That is absolutely ridiculous for a new truck to continue to have the same issue and not to be corrected. I was to say the least, very disappointed. I will not be taking any vehicle back to this service department. After doing some research of my own, I found that there is a vibration issue with these trucks. GM should have remedied this, or stopped selling them. I say all that because I am amazed that GM would even let these trucks leave the factory after driving them on the test track. read more
