New building looks great, their menu its huge and looks very inviting, the old pictures of Montgomery are a really nice touch, always very busy and maybe that's why I felt that our food was rush out of the kitchen and was not very tasty, it was good but not grandma's table good, just barely ok, so on this one its up to you you can try it because it's new or maybe go when they are not so busy. read more

I went for breakfast and ordered an Eggs Benedict, with a side of Biscuits and Gravy. The Eggs Benedict was off - the Canadian Bacon seemed like it came from a tin can and the poached eggs were tiny. The most awful thing is their so-called Biscuits are about 2" by 2" square and flavorless bricks of dough. Service was great, but the food is far from worth the trip. read more

I have been coming to riverview for years, even before they built the new restaurant. This is my go to place for breakfast, which is served all day by the way. I have never had food or service that was anything less than excellent. The owner and staff are all very nice, hardworking people. Free pie with dinner entrees after 4pm too!! This is probably my favorite restaurant that my family and I go to. I love their biscuits and gravy in the morning with eggs any way you want. I'm a picky eater if I ask for something to be on the side , the wonderful wait staff always says no problem. Their cream of chicken and rice soup on Sundays are to die for. Okay, I have finally found the best breakfast omelette of all time. The Biscuit and Gravy Omelette. The fools here is so fresh and good the review I'm giving doesn't do it justice. Went for the Friday fish fry. Arrived at 7:00 and place was packed. Lucky for us, one table was open. My wife ordered the cod and I got the walleye. Soup and salad were both very good. Rolls could have ben a little fresher...but not too bad. Fish and fries were both good. the fish was a little too oily, but the fries were great. Ended with a piece of key lime pie that had a very flavorful crust. It would have been nice to have beer and wine available, but it keeps the out of pocket cost way down. read more

I've eaten breakfast & lunches at this place maybe 6 times during the past 6 months and the food has been very good, the service excellent & the prices very competitive as compared to other similar restaurants in this area. My opinion is that this place & Oswego Family Restaurant are the best breakfast places in this area and this place is better for lunch. I also like the atmosphere at Riverview better and they are in the process of building a new facility right next door that will accommodate a lot more tables as the current location, due to the quality & reputation of this restaurant, fills very quickly and waiting is almost guaranteed at prime hours. Still, the omelets, egg dishes and French Toast are delicious and the BLT club, which I use as a true test for lunch restaurant-to-restaurant, is terrific. Highly recommend! read more

My friend and I ordered the grilled chicken Greek salad. Every single type of vegetable was not really chopped to bite size. There was way to much dressing and barely any lettuce. Between the two of our salads I think we could piece together a whole onion because there were huge chunks of white onion. Who puts white onion in a Greek salad? I have now been to Riverview twice for breakfast and it is one of our new favs for eating breakfast out on the weekends. The wait staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Food is always as expected and delicious. The restaurant has always been very clean. Tables and the parking lot fill up fast on the weekends during peak hours so get there early or expect to wait. We tried to go there once previously, but could not find a parking spot, so we knew the food had to be good! I can't wait to try their lunch and dinner menus. read more

I've had this restaurant book marked in Yelp for a while. I decided to try them out, and the food was very good, and reasonably priced. It did not taste like the normal restaurant food, but it tasted more homemade. I ordered pecan pancakes with sausage eggs, and hash browns. The waitress was very professional, and was hospitable. Ok, I get it. This place has good reviews. And I will start off by saying I've only been here once, and I had dinner. I have not tried their breakfast or lunch. So I am reviewing solely based on my dinner experience there. I was feeling like comfort food on a Monday night, so my hubby suggested we go to Riverview since it is right down the road from our house. We had not tried it since their renovation, so we figured we were due. I ordered the meatloaf, because I am a huge fan of meatloaf and I consider it my go-to comfort food. When I think of good meatloaf, I picture moist, well-cooked meat that has a little crispiness on top and then the meat is juicy on the inside. This was not at ALL what I got. I got a huge plate that looked anything but appetizing and was DRENCHED in gravy. This did not look like sliced meatloaf either. The meat looked like brown sponges, like a cafeteria mystery-meat. Still, I decided to not just go off of how disgusting it looked and actually try it. Well that didn't help either. It had a frozen taste to it big time. I've had On-Cor frozen dinner meatloaf that tasted better than this. To top it off, half the plate had flavorless peas to accompany the meatloaf, and a pretty tiny scoop of mashed potatoes that were also sub-par. My husband ordered a Fettuccine Alfredo. Again, I get this is not a fancy Italian place so he wasn't expecting gourmet. Just some good pasta with some good sauce at a good price. The price was ok, however, the sauce was not creamy at all. It was so runny and bland. Again, I don't know if this is sauce from a jar, if it is made there, or if it's frozen. What I can say is that it was not good and please no one order this. We were so upset because we both wanted to eat some comfort food in this nice diner (which by the way is VERY nice on the inside) but all we got were meat sponges and watery noodles. I could have made all of this at home, spent way less, and had food that actually had quality to it. And also keep in mind when it comes to being a picky eater, well my husband and I pretty much love ALL food. Like seriously, it's really hard for us to think something is bad. I guess perhaps they need to bring their dinner menu to a reasonable amount of choices, and make those fresh and delicious. Their dinner menu is pretty huge (they even have Chinese food, seriously?) There's no reason I should go out and spend almost $30 for a dinner for two just to eat frozen, poorly made food. read more

We went to Riverview Diner for brunch. I had skirt steak with hash brown and eggs while my husband had Alpine Mushroom Burger. Both orders were delicious and properly plated. However, before the mouthwatering meal, we had to wait almost 10 minutes to be seated. The place was not busy, there were lots of empty tables but there was no one to attend to us because the "hostess" was busy checking out customers while at least 2 other table attendants were busy chatting with each other. A great dining experience begins with a good front desk service. When you wait to be seated, you expect someone to be there to lead you to your seats. If the hostess is busy, at least train the other table attendants to pitch in without waiting to be told what to do. They should have the initiative to accommodate the waiting customer. Also, management should make sure that someone checks the restroom regularly. A clean restroom promotes good health. read more

We have tried this place three time now. Our last experience was out on their patio. The food was cold when we finally got it, cheese was already hard and it was ho-hum at best. Waitress was ok but the witch at the counter was mad because I wouldn't give her my PIN number so she could enter it when I paid. This place looks nice from the outside but you'll notice when you get inside: the carpet is filthy, bathrooms are gross, how do they keep the kitchen? It's basically a Mexican restaurant anyway so if that's what your looking for there are many wonderful Mexican restaurants in the area....Id go there! Very middle of the road. Moved to Montgomery and a few people said go to Riverview. We went for the Friday fish fry (AYCE) walleye/cod. The batter was crispy, which is good in my book, however the walleye fish itself was a bit mushy inside the batter. The cod was dry inside the batter. The hash brown side with onions we ordered were good (I'd come back for those). They did have malt vinegar for the fish which was a plus. Wait staff really have no personality to speak of.
