Dinner Saturday night...our first time here for dinner. I was here for lunch a year ago with a bunch of friends before a show. Kinda forgot about it actually. Our party of 4 were "walk ins" since our reservations got messed up elsewhere. We felt fortunate to get a table last minute. We were seated in the front room which was a bit too bright (!!!). It was a large table for four. The room was quiet (other than a noisy kid a few tables over but that was short lived). So many restaurants are too loud and you have to shout to have a conversation therefore we truly appreciated the solitude. The owner, Bruce, came over to greet us. We appreciated his gesture as he obviously cares about his customers. He told us a little bit about the restaurant. We ordered a round of cocktails. The only Rose wine on their wine list had to go back as it had a nasty taste...3 of us agreed on that. It was quickly replaced with white wine. House Scotch was a generous pour and very smooth. Martini also good. I thought prices were reasonable on the alcohol. On to the food. Crab cakes were excellent as Bruce recommended. I enjoyed the fish and chips and our other friend seemed to enjoy the meat loaf. I thought the menu was ideal...sandwiches offered as well as dinners. I believe it is the same menu all day...which I like...sometimes we just want a sandwich for dinner. Our server was very good (thank you Christine). It was all timely and not rushed. Next time we hope to be seated in the room that faces the river. It had better atmosphere and view of the river. Much nicer than the front room. Hubby would like to add King George in our rotation of restaurants. We will definitely be back. I am glad to see that Bristol has improved a lot over the years. The walkway along the river was all lit up and it was such a beautiful night. Lots of people strolling around and others fishing on the dock. Overall we were very happy that it all worked out and we stumbled on a great place. I highly recommend. read more

Pros- our server, Drew, was excellent. Very friendly and he made excellent recommendations! We ordered the French Dip which minus the cheese not being evenly proportioned on each half of the sandwich, was great! The sea salt fries served with the French dip were next level! The chicken salad sandwich was absolutely the best I've ever eaten! The bacon added a little something and the 7-grain bread it was served on was second to none! The key lime tart dessert fell a little flat for me, but after that amazing lunch I didn't care. We will definitely be returning...soon! We stopped here for late lunch on our way back from Philadelphia. We were seated at a table by the window overlooking the Delaware River. It's a very nice atmosphere and vibe. We started off with a half order of the warm sourdough boule, which comes with 4 large pieces. It was baked to perfection and oozing with garlic, butter and combination of cheeses. A definite must order; you will not regret it. My husband ordered the Crab Cake Sandwich and I ordered the Blackened Mahi Tacos. Both were very good. However, the Mahi tacos were outstanding. They weren't quite blackened, but the quantity of Mahi within each taco was plentiful. I loved the fact that it was not some deep battered creation, but a well cooked and seasoned Mahi filet. Bruce (co-owner) stopped at our table, asked how everything was, I mentioned the very small and uncomfortable seating and he said he would see what he could do and never came back. Just lip service. Our waitress suggested the whipped ricotta and it was absolutely delicious. The warm bread in the cool ricotta hit all the right notes. The steak frites had the best Parmesean fries and dipping sauce. The steak was cooked just right and was fabulous. The filet with thd crab cake was all you could ask for in a surf and turf. Came here later on a random week night and the restaurant area was kinda dead. The bar area seemed to be pretty busy. Definitely did not need a reservation but assuming one's need on the weekends or in summer for their outside area. Being almost 9 months pregnant I was surprised by the extensive list of mocktails they had! For a starter the bacon wrapped shrimp was AMAZING!!! I could have ate the whole order myself. Is this a destination dinner spot - not necessarily but for a nice lunch/dinner give it a shot. The bar area is rustic and comfortable. The dining room is nice but nothing to rave about. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable. The menu is large without being overwhelming and some of the prices are on the high side but I'm sure you can find something in your price range. The warm Crab dip with pretzel bread was a nice (and large) start to our meal. Both the Fish & Chips as well as the Short Ribs were a large and very good choice for dinner, large enough that we will be having both for lunch! read more

On a beautiful and chilly thanksgiving afternoon, this restaurant provided cozy dining to celebrate the holiday. You need to ask for seatings on the second floor for a nice view of the river. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Even one of the owners greeted each table. House salad had candied walnuts, really good and it was a nice balance to the acidity of the balsamic vinegar. Salmon with rice pilaf was delicious. The salmon had a nice crisp but not dry and overcooked. The rice pilaf was flavorful. My husband had stuffed peppers with quinoa and black beans topped with melted cheese with a side of marinara sauce. It was also flavorful. The food was absolutely amazing. The service with Brian G was great, speedy and polite. We ate on the patio with a beautiful view of the waterfront. The breeze was just so, absolutely gorgeous choice. We had 2 drinks, oysters, southern fried shrimp (delicious sauce) prime rib special, half rib entree, and cheesesteak. I'm giving The King George II Inn, 5 stars!! We had a birthday celebration there with 14 people on a Saturday night, and it was hands down fabulous!! From the food,drinks,to our amazing server, Lauren, our night went off without a hitch! The owner even came out to chat with us and ask how everything went! Honestly, we couldn't have asked for a better night! The views are amazing, and you can easily take a stroll along the river or through the town afterwards!! I recommend everyone give this place a try, you will not be disappointed!! For reference: I ordered the pear and blue cheese salad with salmon (cooked to perfection!)... and two seasonal drinks from the bar. Absolutely perfect date night! During Lent we always go out on Fridays to grab seafood. We decided to go here since it's in our neighborhood. First time for me and a few times for hubby. He gave me the wonderful history of the place. We were greeted with a joyous salutation. All the staff here were very friendly and accommodating. I've been to the King George II 3 times now. My sister lives in Willingboro, NJ and hates bridges... She even loved the restaurant so much that she's willing to cross the bridge. It's not the most beautiful building and the floors feel like they're going to collapse but that's due to how old and amazing the place is. The BEST thing on the menu is the pork chop! I could eat that all day, every day. I don't remember what my sister ordered but it came with a demiglace that was to die for. My sister ordered a whole side of that to take home with her. The folks were nice and friendly and made it a place worthy of visiting over and over again. read more

Just an incredible experience at King George Inn in the revamped downtown area of Bristol, PA. The restaurant can be a little unassuming on the outside but, once you come in, the lovely view of the historic Delaware River, the warm hospitality, and of course -- the food-- was top notch. It's always welcomed when the owner comes to chat with you at your table at a restaurant and you can tell Bruce loves the place and the guests who come. The menu is classic elevated Americana. Everytime I visit King George the food is exceptional. The French onion is a must have, I am a French onion snob and I order it any time I restaurant has it on its menu. They have a top tier French onion, I do recommend getting extra cheese, well done though. My wife and I are long time subscribers to Riverside theater so we thought it would be great to have dinner after the show. We were seated quickly and started with drinks wife got a ginger ale and I got the specialty Old English old fashioned which unfortunately did not come with a twist of orange but had a slice of lemon- ok the drink was still tasty but not special as described. I got the French onion soup --delicious soup! Suggestion-use a thicker slice of bread under the melted cheese as it was practically gone and had dissolved in the broth..I also ordered the Kobe meatloaf with mashed and green beans. Large portion on the plate was delivered. The meat loaf was good but not huge flavor-- the mashed underneath was not creamy and smooth but rather stiff and grainy. The green beans were fresh but too crispy... I don't know why restaurants serve them this way as I've never had a properly cooked serving out yet-- My wife had the portobello sandwich with arugula on a nice bun- she liked her choice didn't rave... we decided try the bread pudding with a scoop of ice cream and a vanilla cream sauce with gran marnier The pudding was a block of hard old bread pudding cut in a square... Me and the wife had dinner with my brother and sister-in-law. They suggested King George II inn which we never had. The building was established in the 1600s, very interesting to be turned into a restaurant. We sat in the front section overlooking the water which was nice. My wife got the Kobe meatloaf with mashed potatoes and string beans. She really enjoyed it and I got to taste some of it and it was excellent. I ordered two entrees since I don't eat but one hour a day doing OMAD, and the waitress was surprised I was having two entrees. I assured her I was a pro. I had chicken parm with sauteed spinach. It was incredibly tasty and perfectly prepared also a good size portion. Also had a cheeseburger with fries. Fries were decent had a slight batter to them but the burger was excellent. Perfectly cooked to a medium a nice thick blanket of cheddar and seasoned perfectly. I did take a bite of the roll just to see but I usually don't eat the bun so I didn't eat the rest of it. We celebrated a family birthday with 15 guests at King George II Inn last night. We had the best experience. Big table along the window so we were able to enjoy the river view. Our waitress, Lauren, was excellent, welcoming and experienced. She was upbeat and really added to the celebration. The Manager even stopped by our table to make sure everything was good. We had lunch here a few weekends ago with some friends. It was my first time visiting the area and I was pleasantly surprised. As far as our meal, I ordered the Lobster Bisque and wedge salad. The bisque was delicious and had lots of lobster meat in it. The salad was great as well, although I thought it was a bit overdressed. A few people at our table had sandwiches, and while they liked everything in them they did not love the bread. The service was quick and friendly. One of the co-owners also stopped by our table to ask how everything was, which I always appreciate. It was my birthday, and they also brought out ice cream with a candle, which was a nice touch. My family and I stopped here for an early dinner yesterday. Beautiful location right on the water, very historic and pretty big menu. We ordered the calamari and cheesesteak egg rolls for apps. Both delicious and the dips complimented the dishes very well. We all loved the calamari mixed with the peppers. Not too fried and great portion size. The cheesesteak egg rolls were also good and a tad bit different since they serve it with sriracha aioli, which really did have a kick. For entrees, we ordered the tavern burger, grilled portobello sandwich, salmon dijonnaise, English fish and chips, the kings pork chops and baby back ribs. They were all just okay. No one raved about the entrees at all. The ribs fell off the bone, but we all thought mission bbq ribs tasted better. Nothing special about the sauce. I love salmon, but I wouldn't order the salmon from here again. I also did not like the sauce that paired with it. One thing everyone did enjoy were the French fries! Again, great location and hearing the history is very cool. Food is just okay or maybe we all ordered the wrong stuff (even though we ordered an array of options). Took the family here for Father's Day because we love the quality of the food, and the Chef is very talented. But our server Charlie was AMAZING! He had such a great personality and didn't let any of our glasses empty. Charlie was a breath of fresh air since service these days in so many places is lacking. We had oysters on the half shell, the greatest Lobster Bisque I ever had, and my Dad had the lobster Roll and I had the Crab Cake sandwich, which neither of us could finish. Mom's wedge salad was gorgeous, definitely enough to share and her Half Roasted chicken made two meals. Go to King George for the great food and atmosphere, but definitely ask to sit in Charlie's section! read more

This past weekend I had the most amazing dinner experience. King George was an all around dining experience. The staff were so friendly and attentive. Atmosphere included a beautiful view of the river with people strolling along the banks with family and friends. Our drinks were perfect along with the superb mushroom soup. We ordered the Tuna Frites which was so incredibly mouthwatering delicious and it came with Asian Street fries that were to die for. I also ordered the Prime Rib which came out too well done. I mentioned this to the server and immediately the manager replaced my meal with a beautifully rare Prime Rib which was so delicious! The topping of the evening was when the owner approached our table (as he did all the tables) introduced himself and asked how our dinner was. An awesome reminder of there are people who really care how their customers feel. It's a rarity to find a restaurant that deserves high praise for the whole experience. King George II Inn is one of the restaurants we go to for special occasions. This visit was for our anniversary after a show at the Bristol Theatre (right next door.) The atmosphere is relaxed, tables by the window that have a view of the river, small park and marina are best. Wait staff is wonderful...attentive, not intrusive, helpful. I regret not being able to give them 5 stars because I was disappointed with the prices and amenities. There is no complimentary bread and no salad with entrees. For the priced they charge, I feel there should be. The portions of the entrees are very generous, however, for hungry theatre goers or those walking thru town, it would be nice to have something to start off with. read more

I have always wanted to stop in this historic treasure to grab a bite to eat. My love of history and especially historic eateries was fulfilled with a nice quiet dinner here with my wife. The building and entrance itself take you back in time, the brick lined sidewalk, covered entrance, old shutters on the building, old doors and somewhat dated street lamps. The inside is a bit small and cramped, but oozes history from the character of its construction to the antique furniture/fixtures and pictures on the walls. The small tavern area is dark, painted black and seems like a wonderful cozy drinking area complete with street level windows. I asked the host where the best table would be and he directed me upstairs on the back side of the building overlooking the waterfront. It was a perfect winter view of the river with the entire wharf area covered in snow and light snow falling during our dinner! The menu was diverse and had many great choices. For apps we split a cup of Lobster Bisque and Crab Dip. Our dinner choices were for my wife, the Prime Rib and I chose the Salmon Dijonnaise $24 - pan seared, topped with dijon mustard drizzle on rice pilaf and veggies. The lobster bisque was delicious, creamy, thick, little sweet with a good amount of small lobster portions in it. The crab dip was served with soft pretzel sticks and had a bit too much coarse ground mustard in it for me. I get the mustard addition with the pretzels, but the crab was lost in the mix. The salmon was moist, separated nicely and went well with the dijon mustard however the outside of the salmon was cooked a bit too long. My wife devoured the prime rib and said it was delicious and a big portion. Drink wise the wife's rum and cokes were good and although the bourbon selection was limited, I enjoyed a glass of Maker's Mark neat which is never a bad offering. I would definitely visit again to try some of their other menu options and also to explore more of the building. Thanks guys! read more

We had our funeral luncheon here and I was amazed at the quality of the house wine, food, and service. All food was served buffet style and there was so much we each were able to take provided take out trays home with the leftovers. We had the bruschetta as an appetizer, chicken parmigiana and penne in a vodka sauce, sliced beef and broccoli, string beans and mashed potatoes. The rolls were served piping hot and there was tons of real butter on the tables. A huge platter of deserts served after dinner and they were super good. The ambiance of the inn overlooking the Delaware river that dates back to the revolution was just awesome. Located at the end of Mill Street shopping area it is conveniently located within easy walking distance to the large parking lot. There is on street parking but it is limited there. I will mark this as a terrific date location and plan on going here again soon. read more

I've done a review for the KGI before but it's worth it another. The service, the food and the location can't be beat. I had a lovely lunch with friends today and it' was delightful. Charlie was our waiter and he's just awesome. The food was amazing. We had the ricotta, with peach and cranberry for appetizers. I had the KGI salad with shrimp which is my all time favorite salad and I highly recommend it. It's perfect. After lunch we walked Mill St and did some shopping in the bookstore, and some antique shops. It's a great location for a nice afternoon with friends- you can really make a nice day out of visiting Bristol. Do yourself a favor and visit the KGI on a Saturday or Sunday and request Charlie as your server. He's the perfect example of what good service should be - he's attentive, charming, funny and knows exactly how to provide top notch service with a smile.
