When we moved here one of the first orders of business was to find a great local pizza alternative to all the chains in the area. Turns out, we didn't have to look too far before we found this gem! Sure, it's more expensive than a chain, but it's so worth it! Their regular level of cheese is like everyone else's "extra cheese" and the crust is always crisp on the edges, chewy in the middle. My current favorite topping is spinach with ricotta cheese; they are smart enough to steam the fresh baby spinach before putting it on the pizza, so it retains its flavor without drying out. Small grievance, they used canned mushrooms (how hard is it to slice fresh?) and the meatballs have a weird flavor, but other than that I have yet to find a combination of toppings I don't like. read more

My fiance and I happened to stumble upon this place after meeting with our real estate agent located next door to the shop. I was really in a mood for a cheese steak but he wanted pizza instead so we stopped in here because they have both. My cheese steak was amazing! I love how they don't lump dry meat into bread then dump melted cheese on top. They actually seem to mix the cheese and meat together and put whatever toppings you want on it (I happen to love pickles on my cheese steaks). My fiance says he pizza was really good, not greasy or bland. It was so good that we went in the next day too for more. The staff was really friendly too. We ate there at least once a week for about a month and a half before we bought our house and moved to Middletown. When I still worked in Newark and would pass it on the way home I'd occasionally pick up dinner but now since I work in Elkton, it's kind of a drive out of the way... But I will drive out of my way just for their cheese steaks! read more

Was running late for work so had to come here again for a slice..... the lady that works the register, I believe she is the owner, was touching money and then touch the food without washing her hands. Customer service is lacking from the owner. If you feel like get attitude or even yelled at this is the place to go. The pizza is legit. It's nothing crazy just authentic pizza. Ate once here when we first moved into the area. I admit, we weren't very happy with the regular pizza. Very plain and not much on taste. But, after reading all the reviews we decided to give it another try, and glad we did. Maybe they just had an off day or was in a hurry that day, because this time around it was excellent. This place is a joke. I just tried ordering a cheese steak with wiz on it...and the kid on the phone refused to do so. They have the cheese there for cheese fries so why the big deal to plop some on a steak? Charge me more, idc, but to just tell me "No, just put American on it." This place has amazing pizza at great prices. Called up to place my first ever order and the woman on the phone helped me out with a great deal, then when I arrived to pick up my pie, she was super funny with a New York style attitude that was just for fun. We happened upon this pizza/Italian place when we were in the area . Place did not have much ambiance- and it seemed like the staff focused on taking your order and moving you through the line. But the food was very good. We had an antipasto salad and spaghetti with meat, and both of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. If we lived in the area, we could see ourselves visiting often. So a lot of my friends have been mentioning this great Pizza Restaurant lately and I thought I'd try it out. They claimed it was the best pizza they ever had. I just so happen to live right down the road from it so one night I decided to order a Large Cheese Pizza for take out. While I'm in the store it seemed to be a very laid back setting. The workers seemed to enjoy their job. I eventually got my pizza after a short wait and once I get home and open it I find out that it wasn't fully cooked. The cheese was falling off the crust, the sauce was still cold, and I had to eat it with a fork and a knife. Riviera Pizza has some of the most authentic NY style pizza I have had in the MD/DE area and I moved here from NY 6 years ago, so I have had plenty of time to try out different places. If I had to choose I would 100% go here before anywhere else. They have the old school style pizza ovens and it makes all the difference in the crust. I am picky from the crust to the sauce and cheese used as my pizza standards are very high. I have to say that outside of NY I have not found better pizza crust. The toppings are all very good quality, they use Grande cheese and the sauce is homemade and not sweet, it is very good - seasoned perfectly. The only things I can say that I wish were different is consistency, 95% of the time you get great pizza, occasionally you will get a slice here that is floppy and not crunchy. Also when it comes the specialty slices they have daily, its not always the same choices but there always an abundance of delicious ones to choose from. I would highly suggest you try their Sicilian (square) slices or there white slice with tomato - delicious! If you like the typical style of soft mushy Delaware pizza in this area you probably won't like this place but you should try it anyway. I can't imagine anybody would regret it. read more

We have been loyal customers of this restaurant even though we have been aware for quite some time that the owner is arrogant and most of the staff offer mediocre customer service at best. Want an Italian restaurant that is quite expensive where you can't even get a shaker of Parmesan for your pizza? Well, this is the place. What finally drove me to write this review is that my daughter ordered two x-large pizzas, a salad and jalapeno poppers today. The order came to approximately forty dollars. She brought the food back to our house which is about 10-15 minutes from there. She realized that they had forgotten to put the poppers in the bag. She immediately called and let them know they weren't in the bag. They didn't apologize or offer her anything off on a future order, i.e. SOMETHING to say, "hey, we messed up, but we appreciate and want your future business". They said she could come get her food or come get her money back, her choice. Obviously, she went back to get her food that they forgot to put in her bag. I think their complete disregard for the inconvenience they put her through is appalling. Their pizza is very good, but their customer service is awful! Word to the wise, check your bag before leaving because they certainly won't. read more

I've been a customer to Rivera Pizza for the 20 year's I've lived in Delaware and they have honestly the best tasting Pizza around! I recommend to everyone; if you need a cheese steak, pasta dish, catering service... They offer a range of Italian and American dishes'. I highly recommend the Lasagna dish for any type of business meeting or event. (order 1 day in advance) The staff is dedicated to fast service and delicious food.
