Both were excellent. Pasta was slightly spicy which I wasn't expecting. I had to ask for the garlic bread but that was no problem. Finished off with bananas foster crème brûlée. Yummy. And quality and atmosphere to match high-end large city expectations such as this place. The Riviera has a cozy, soft-lit, warmer setting which I love. Awesome nooked tables in the bar area. The menu has some high quality offerings with some twists. You can get steak everywhere- BUT BEEF WELLINGTON?? This was a truly spectacular dish. Amazing flavor, perfect flaky crust, and unbelievably tender, melt-in-your-mouth steak. They were gracious to do a split plate with lovely presentation (wish I had just ordered my own!) Backing it up, the burrata app was a great starter. We lucked in on a Wednesday where they have 1/2 priced wine, and our bartender gave us a great suggestion as well as top service the whole meal. This place is absolutely amazing! I had to change my reservation due to a trip delay, and they had no issue with it and responded in a timely manner. When I arrived, I was seated right away by the friendliest hostess I've ever met! My waitress greeted me immediately and asked my preference for water (sparkling or still). She was patient during my indecisiveness about my wine choice, and offered to let me try one. If the service was great, the food was EXCELLENT. I got the prime rib of beef cooked medium rare. It was perfectly cooked, amazingly seasoned, and the best I've ever had. The veggies were crisp without being raw and the wine was a great addition. We were on a Train trip across the US and this restaurant punches way above its weight. This is the best meal we had even over places in Chicago and San Francisco. It was very creative food, served by people who seemed to be proud of the place. The pride was deserved. Everything we had was delicious, especially the "Jumbo Roasted Garlic" which was really an assortment of things to assemble with the Garlic. It was amazing, if a bit messy to eat. Cool place with an awesome bartender. Ask for more complicated cocktails cuz he loves to make em! Duck confit was terrific as were the truffle fries and brussel sprouts. We also ordered the beef wellington. They were very good but not fantastic. It's a complicated dish and making it for so many across hours of service can create rubbery pate, and undercooked pastry. Mine was very good but pastry was a bit undercooked. Hubby had rubbery pate. The veggies that come along with the wellington were outstanding. The struggle was the service. There was one waiter for the entire place. This created forgotten orders (never got our caeser salad, had to remind him we ordered Brussel sprouts, and never got our coffee with our dessert). They need an additional server front of house and probably an extra busser to help with food delivery, drinks, etc. I would go back. Decided to splurge and come to the #1 restaurant in Glenwood according to TripAdvisor. Was it worth the hype? I'm not sure. The white truffle fries were meh. The fries were not fried well, some could have been fried better. My pan seared salmon with white wine and butter sauce was good. The salmon cooked perfectly with a nice sear. The chili in the salad added a nice spice to the meal. The carrot puree was nice and rich. His beef stroganoff was average. He said he'd had better. Which is surprising since he doesn't usually say anything about his meal. Restroom was clean. It was a little dark in the restaurant. Some of the lights went off while we were dining and the bulb above us burned out and didn't come back on. Would I come again? I'm not sure. The food, oh, the taste! Had the sliced prime rib sandwich and fries. The meat was like shredded beef in an amazing sauce. It's all about the sauce. I also asked for fry sauce, and the sandwich made with light and homemade bread and scratch au jus - not beef broth but sauce! And - wait for it - homemade ketchup that was incredible! The only thing I would have done differently would be to get ice water, not warm. And had I know ahead of time- they have beef Wellington!! What an awesome restaurant. Do you ever make dinner an experience? Those are my favorite kinds of meals and Riviera was definitely an experience to remember. A client lives in the area and recommended that we try Riviera. Last time we were in town it was on the list but we went elsewhere. This time we struck gold. We didn't have reservations so we awaited our table at the bar. It was an excellent people-watching and meeting experience and the drinks were plentiful and well made. Once at the table, we were treated to an excellent serving and dining experience. Dinner with friends who appreciate good food and company is always enjoyable. A few cocktails and bottles of wine make it even more enjoyable. But that is only part of it. The roasted garlic and brussels sprouts appetizers were stellar. That garlic was so delicious that I could have eaten it for my meal. I wanted the actual prime rib but they were out because we waited so long to order and had consumed so many bottles of wine. Their next best recommendation was the shaved prime rib sandwich. Hell yes! Maybe it was all the wine or maybe it was just that good but I devoured that sandwich. The side of fries was a perfect accompaniment. Make sure and ask for that addition. Note: I do not remember when we went but I just found my receipt. It was some special half-off wine day. Ate here with my Mother for Christmas week vacation. My waiter, Torin, recommended their Roasted Garlic appetizer and it was incredible! He recommended one of their more rare specials, Duck Confit, for dinner and I could not believe how yummy it and it's accompanying Risotto was! Duck was so perfectly cooked it literally fell off the bones! He also recommended a delicious second cocktail that paired well with it. Finished with a tasty Crème Brûlée with crushed peppermint, although the chunks of peppermint did not complement as well as the finer powder. Torin was so kind, attentive and charismatic. The beef stroganoff was one of the best things I've had in Colorado. I will literally come back just for that. I am scared to think about a world where I ordered something other than that. I spent the weekend near Glenwood with my mom. I treated her to a get away and wanted to take her to a really good restaurant. Riviera Scratch kitchen did NOT disappoint! We started with the burrata and the sweet and spicy brussel sprouts. My oh my!! They call this place scratch kitchen, because they literally make most everything from scratch. That which they cannot make they locally source. It's a great concept! The burrata was so perfectly creamy and the roasted red pepper pesto paired so well with the pine nuts - truly a match made in heaven! The sprouts were amazingly crispy and flavorful and the housemade BBQ - let's just say we wanted to drink it! We shared the beet salad. I wanted to try the beef wellington, however, sadly, they were out. So mom and I both opted for the Five Spice Duck Leg Confit. And Honestly, I'm kind of glad they were out of the wellington. I practically liked the bowl clean. The Tahini and carrot puree was .... SO GOOD!! and the sweet and sour chutney complemented the duck so well! This dish is a solid 5/5 on it's own!! Neither of us "needed" dessert, but we split the peach and blueberry pie - which was excellent as well. Super flaky crust and the filling not too sweet. The perfect ending to a perfect meal! We went Saturday night for our anniversary and I have to say I was a little disappointed, especially for the price. The staff just felt very chaotic and we felt forgotten about as a table. It took way longer than it should have to get our first round of drinks. We ordered the beef Wellington knowing there would be a wait - which was fine. We also ordered the salmon. Both to split. We're huge beef Wellington fans and have been to Hell's Kitchen in Vegas where Gordon Ramsay's Wellington js out of this world. This one fell super flat. I'm not sure what type of meat was used but it didn't slice like butter like I thought it should. The way they cut the puff pastry was also strange. They sliced the Wellington in half - fine. But there was a cut in the pastry (probably prior to baking) which just caused it all to fall off when you would cut a bite.. it was a mess to eat. I did enjoy the veggies and mashed potatoes. Happy Thanksgiving from Glenwood Springs. We had reservations for noon Thanksgiving dinner and was looking forward to it. We were seated immediately (the 3rd table seated for that noon time frame) and placed drink orders while reviewing the menu. For starters you had the choice of soup or salad. Husband got the tomato soup and I got roasted butternut squash. Both were excellent. The tomato was rich and creamy; I said it was smooth. Butternut squash was silky and the roasted scallions with the balsamic reduction added so much to the soup. We ordered a small salad to share which was an extra charge but worth it. The drinks were excellent as well. I had a glass of Dr L Riesling and husband had a French 75. Both were excellent I ordered the traditional turkey dinner which came with potatoes and gravy, stuffing/dressing, homemade green bean casserole and corn muffin. Husband ordered the prime rib with all the same sides. Now here is where things go downhill. We were the 3rd table seated and the next to the last served in the dining room. We watched plate after plate go to other tables that came in way after us. Keep in mind there were 3 choices for the entree and we pre ordered that! Finally after 3 different wait staff said they would check on our dinner we got our plates 35 minutes later. Turkey and potatoes were good and the house made cranberry sauce was great. The dressing/stuffing felt like paste in my mouth. Just chunks of bread with minimal seasoning and it was cold. The green bean casserole was unrecognizable. It was heavy on the beef flavor and just kinda clumped on the plate. Husbands prime rib was a nice portion but it lacked flavor. Dessert was either pumpkin or cherry pie and we had one of each. The pie crust on the pumpkin so very tough and no flavor. While the restaurant itself has a nice vibe inside- the bar is separate from the main eating area and sound wise you can have a conversation during dinner and hear each other. Would I go back? My wife and I had a great birthday meal at Riviera Supper Club. From the hostess to our server Jessie L the service was impeccable. The food was great. We started with the bone marrow which was very tasty and served with toasted bread, a berry sauce (not quite a jam), some greens, serrano peppers and fried onion strings. The beef stroganoff is an elevated version of a traditional stroganoff. It is so rich and full of delcious beef, mushrooms, onions with their gravy, pickled red onions and garlic bread (didn't eat since there was so much food). My wife had the beef wellington and it was cooked to perfection with the bourbon and molasses sauce, vegetables and mashed potatoes. Yum yum yum. The cherry pie with vanilla ice cream was warm and freshly baked and a symphony of tart and sweet with a great crust. The only thing I did not like was the Chef's Shifty cocktail. A must when visiting Glenwood! Me and 2 others dined on a Friday night. My friend had made the reservation and made them aware that we were celebrating my 40th. The staff was so sweet to help us celebrate and not be over the top with silliness. We had champagne and they served it with a lemon twist, I have never had champagne served this way and it was so refreshing! I had the beef Wellington, so worth the extra time the kitchen needed to prepare it! The other 2 got salmon dishes and they were incredible. We had the bananas foster crème brûlée, it was to die for! That is one of the creamiest custards I have ever had. It was a lovely supper with all the staff being very kind and attentive when necessary. Wow, what a fantastic dinner. We made a reservation before we even got to town because of the recommendations we received from others. We started with a bottle of Ghost Pines wine which is always a good choice. For dinner, I went with the Five Spice Duck Leg Confit and it was so delicious. Everything in the dish worked together so perfectly and I couldn't believe all the flavors with each bite. The tahini and carrot purée was fantastic paired with the pistachio rice. The portion was large enough for the price and I was full when I left. You don't get a ton of meat on a duck leg but everything else made up for it. We didn't get dessert but the options we saw at other tables looked great and I'll save room next time. The restaurant is small and offers a clean and inviting atmosphere. It's located right on the main drag of restaurants and there is plenty of parking nearby. Our server was great and she even remembered my copilot from his last layover in town. The burrata included some great peppers and the soup was the best tomato soup ever thanks to the goat cheese and cream. The main dishes we tried were the beef wellington, the lasagna, and the duck. All were perfect. The duck is perfectly paired with pistachio rice and fell off the bone. The lasagna included mushrooms that were cooked super well.
