So, I started to go to the chiropractor across the street for treatment a week ago and saw this place when I left so i thought it would be nice to go after my next treatment. So I went today after my treatment and asked if they had an opening. They did and led me to one of their rooms. So I'll say it was clean quiet and overall a nice vibe. Now the downside as I took my shoes off and put my belongings to the side a man masseuse walked in. I thought he was just putting linens in my room but after I played down he stayed and started my massage. Now I'm a man's man and don't like the idea of another male touching my body at all let alone in a relaxing personal way. I feel that is what a woman should do unless you're getting like a sports massage or rehab work done. But with soft relaxation music playing and dim lights I absolutely do not want a man touching me. But I tried to relax and put into my head that this is just a professional service and tried to clear my mind. I made it through the whole massage but I'll say I will never do that again. I was very uncomfortable and too alpha male to be in that uncomfortable situation ever again. Shhh. I want to write this review, but I'm afraid that if I do, the secret will be out, and Rivini will be flooded with patrons. I have no photos to share because it is a Chinese massage establishment... So I will do my best to describe. Before the pandemic, Rivini was a large room with about 10-12 chair-like massage tables. You had to endure having your "over the clothes" massage done in a communal setting. It wasn't ideal. But they also provided a very deep tissue, therapeutic experience, which in my book overrides the atmosphere. They remodeled during the pandemic and now most of the massage tables are inside private cubicle-like massage rooms with curtains at the doorway. There are still a few tables that are "out in the open" and the price for a massage on one of those tables costs less. The guys who provide the massage speak very little English for the most part. The rate for a one hour combination massage that includes your back, neck, shoulders, and feet is $35. I think it's a really good deal... And the massage is usually pretty firm, addressing deep, tissue muscles, and is relaxing every time. If you haven't tried Chinese massage before, you might want to give this tradition a shot. It isn't for everybody. But if you are more invested in the therapeutic effects of massage, than you are a spa-like environment, this is the place and the experience for you. There is soft music playing, the sounds of trickling water from fountains, the familiar smells of essential oils. It all works. Plus, if you REALLY need to escape the visuals for whatever reason, they place a hand towel over your eyes. You just have to get used to the idea of keeping your clothes on while you get the massage. Threw out my back and couldn't walk or stand straight. Read the reviews and pulled up. I went with the $50 private room 60 minute option and told him about my back. He focused on my left back and found ALL my issues. It was painful at times, but required. I walked out feeling almost all healed up and walking straight. Make sure you tip well, they earn it. I tried the Body and Foot Reflexology for 60 minutes and for the price I paid, I'd say the massage was very well worth my money. I had such bad neck and shoulder pain that I had to take medicine for and coming here really helped my muscles relax. Please remember to be quiet as this is a spa and people are here and paid the price to relax and not listen to people's conversations. My masseuse was very strong and firm but checked in with me to make sure the pressure was the way I liked which I appreciated. The staff made sure our requests were made in terms of asking for male/female masseuses and we only booked an appointment about 2 hours beforehand and they were able to accommodate all three of us. Came in here paid for my massage with my debit card $36.00 I only had $5 cash... I figured this is better than no tip, Deedee did my massage (she was great btw) I didn't see her in the floor as I was paying so the man in the front desk said "give me the tip and I'll give it to her" when I gave him the $5 he was so upset. Said it was unacceptable for me to be tipping five dollars. I said "tipping is optional I already paid for my service fee. For some reason he thought that I was being stingy, so I had to open up my Wallet and show him that I didn't have any more cash to tip my masseuse. But not just that, before paying I asked the man for a stamp card since I go there pretty often and when he was going to give me a new card he held unto it and refused to give me the card because he did not approve of me tipping only five dollars. Affordable massages that will make you feel relaxed! Whenever I go, I make sure to ask for someone with strong hands because I prefer deep tissue massages. Loudy (I believe that's how you spell his name) is excellent and really gets into my knots. If you've visited this place before the remodel, you'll notice a huge difference when you visit these days. Rivini's now has private rooms which is quite nice, but it has taken up a lot more space that they use to have access to. This means less people can be serviced at a time. For this reason, I highly recommend that you call in advance and schedule an appointment. They're open late, so it shouldn't be too difficult to be squeezed in. At times they leave to go arrange hot water or towels which takes away from your time, but otherwise pretty efficient. They have stamp card which is nice. Make sure you call ahead to reserve if you so t want to wait. Would recommend overall, $10 tip for each person on top of price is reasonable. Last night 8/8/2021 at 8pm (BTW it didn't start on time at 8, had to sit and wait for 10 minutes), it's been about 18 months since I gotten a massage here just before Covid shutdown and which changed everything at this place. Covid made this place really change. The entire inside is now all curtained divided off room stalls with only one massage table on the outside in the middle of the walkway where the front desk guy put me with all the people walking next to me making noise and talking as they walk by back and forth. There is a sign up front on the wall that says "Please keep quiet" but still there is a lot of noisy foot traffic on their new hardwood wooden floor and several customers talking as they make their way in or out. The Chinese employees there also small talk a lot to each other while out walking on the floor where I was getting my massage which causes my person to stop/start/stop/start during the massage for a couple seconds at a time but all these stop/start seconds add up to several minutes of me not getting a complete massage along with some long breaks taken in-between as the guy takes the water bucket to dump out. Maybe Covid made this change too but I am not sure about the other customers there in the stalls but my guy messaging me covered my head completely with a perfumed towel as he massaged my head and face for 10 minutes which was very unpleasant and uncomfortable which felt like a medium to big sized dog walking on my head with a towel wiped around it. Not pleasant at all. I could hear the desk guy up front asking customers as they were leaving out how was their massage? I heard several people say "it was very good"; as I am lying there still with the towel over my head and with my own mask on my face hardly able to breathe, I was thinking and saying myself "why are customers saying their massage was very good" when mine so far felt horrible, rushed, unpleasant and painful in many ways. It's never been this bad of a massage b4 Covid with this place nor with the masseus. When my guy got to doing my foot massage which is my favorite part of any massage, I was silently hoping that this would impressed me, but it didn't. He didn't give a good relaxing foot and ankle massage at all. Finally, when I turned out for the back massage, it was very painful the entire time with him gabbing his elbow all along my back and neck like he was sticking a broomstick into my back. Several times my Adam's Apple felt like it was going to burst, it hurt so bad. The 60 minute massage which is the one that I selected, the price b4 covid was $25 now it's $35. Hey folks, a $25 60 minute massage that used to be very pleasant b4 covid has now turned out to be a rotten, painful, unpleasant, uncomfortable, and noisy massage is simply not worth $35 today. I can't even believe that I give the guy a $10 tip, but I only had $10s and $20s in my wallet. If I had $1s or $5s dollar bill on me I would been generous to have given the guy only $5. I won't be returning to this place since some others that I go to in the area are much better and hasn't changed due to Covid except their prices also by $10. The only reason why I booked at this place last night at 8pm was because the other two places that I normally go to were fully booked for a Friday evening. Warning: Don't have the front desk guy put you outside on the only middle table on the wooden floor that's in the middle of the walkway, you will find it to be disruptive and unpleasant there. As long as you're clear on what you are paying for and make your needs known to Sam at the front desk (pressure desired, identify sore areas) you'll usually get a great massage. They also offer $25 off after your 10th treatment with a stamp card. This is your best bang for your buck in Long Beach. For new clients: $35 is a foot and body massage in an open space, which means all clothes on. For this I suggest wearing a tank top/undershirt and shorts for the best experience. At this price more time is spent on feet than other areas of your body, but they DO treat your face/head, neck, back, and legs. For $40 its similar, but you get a private space and more of the time is spent on your back vs your feet Your clothes will still be on, so wear similar attire for the best massage. For $45 your shirt comes off because hot oil is used on your back. The $50 massage is full body, no feet, with the use of hot oil. WEAR UNDERWEAR! This isn't a sleazy place where they're going to massage any private bits, and they like to provide a professional atmosphere that doesn't imply anything otherwise. read more

I've been here before and paid cash, unfortunately I didn't have cash the most recent time I went, it was posted that they charge $1 for using credit card/ debit card which I was ok with. I paid for me and my friend and it's $1 fee per person for the same transaction. I think that was really greedy and left a bad feeling about the business. I rather spend my money somewhere else. Won't be coming back. They also expect you to pay a specific amount for tips. I have been coming here for so many years and it never disappoints. Initially they only offered fully clothed chair massages, but now they have expanded to included private spaces so you don't have to remain fully clothed. The space is always clean and voices are kept to a whisper. I think a gym opened next door, so there is a bit of extraneous noise, but the calming music of Rivini drowns most of it out. My favorite is the 70 minute massage because it is a full body massage with a good chunk of time on your feet. I had a pretty uncomfortable experience here. The guy I got was really rough and the massage wasn't really pleasant at all. To top it off he grazed my private area more than once when he was massaging my legs. Luckily I kept my underwear on because if I hadn't it would've been way worse. There was a point where he leaned over to massage my back. I felt his private area touch my hand and it was erect. I quickly moved my hand away and I felt so gross. I left and even then the guy came after me asking for a tip. I felt forced so I gave him a $5 bill because that's all I had in cash.
