TLDR; They cancelled a service because they had overbooked but refused to honor the discount I had used to book it on a future date. I'm on their email list and occasionally they send out discounts for last-minute bookings. I received an email for $25 off and decided to book a massage. The coupon was for certain levels of service, but on their website where they describe the services, none of them have designations. So just to be safe I called up and asked if the service i wanted was included. It turned out that it wasn't, because it was a higher cost. Which, first of all, strange: most places want you to spend more money. But also, I wouldn't have known that based on their website, so they need to do a better job making these things clear. The receptionist was very nice and trying to be helpful (five stars just for her), and told me she'd check with her manager to see if it could be used on the more expensive service and call me back. They did end up calling back the next morning and saying I was welcome to book the longer service and they would honor the discount. So I booked a service for the next day. The morning of my service rolls around and I get a call cancelling the massage because their system had booked it in a time slot that overlapped the MT's break. When I asked if they would honor the discount on a future day (since it was time sensitive it expired that day) I was told they wouldn't. If I had cancelled as a customer with less then 24 hours notice, their policy is that I would owe a 50% cancellation fee. But apparently they can cancel same-day and not offer anything to the customer for the inconvenience. Very disappointed in the lack of service. read more

Tried this day spa for the first time and they delivered. They got me in for a last minute appointment and I truly appreciated it. Customer service was excellent. They have you fill out a "preferences" questionnaire that asks if you prefer talking, no talking or talking only if it's self initiated - which is a nice touch because sometimes you just don't have the capacity or desire to talk. My masseuse was good. I got a basic massage and the scalp oil treatment as an add-on. The massage was good but the scalp massage seemed a little short but I would get it again. The facility was clean, the only issue was the water pressure in the bathroom. The faucet was a tiny stream and the toilet didn't flush after several tries. I let them know and they said it was an issue with the entire LBX property. I didn't use the shower. Hopefully will be fixed soon. The price was good comparatively speaking. Been here several times and the service is usually just okay. Everyone is kind, but I had my card charged for a membership once without consent. I've booked longer massages and twice I've had the massage therapist cut it almost 15 minutes short. I'm writing this review because the option to book online has been so faulty that I can't even schedule anything anymore. Any time I "add to cart" it makes me sign in and never adds anything so I can checkout. Also, it's true what everyone says about the sink releasing just the thinnest stream of water. read more

I've been a member here for a few years and have enjoyed being able to bank massages, as they rolled over, to have a few in one month. That policy has now changed and you're only allowed to have 2 massages per month... not sure what to do with additional rollover credits now. I guess I just lost out on all the money spent. The new rules they've implemented (can't gift your massage to anyone other than one person you notate on your agreement now) have turned me off from this place. The one saving grace is Tonia as a massage therapist. She is fantastic, and such a kind and sweet soul. She knows what she is doing and understands the body and its mechanics really well. Well I want to say that the massage was incredible. No problems there except with the service I received from the ladies at the front desk. I was sent there by my aunt to get a massage in place of her because she wasn't feeling well enough to go. She's a member and has been for a while. She called me with maybe a two hour widow to get there in time for the appointment. Upon arriving there on time I was greeted and asked to fill out a paperwork on the tablet. When I was done I was told that my massage would only be 30 mins not the complete hour. Due to having to complete info. Although they called to confirm my appointment no one told me to arrive 30 mins early. After it was all said and done I they said my aunt should have told me to arrive early. She had no idea or it didn't cross her mind that i would have needed to do intake. They didn't even try to rectify the situation by asking a manager to assist me or set up another appointment. Just OK thanks. Had I known to come in early I would have I'm only 10 mins away. That experience left me shaken by the terrible customer service. I was impressed they had hot tea and cold water and hot pillows But then the hot tea wasn't hot at all , no tea bags in some containers, cold water wasn't cold and then the hot pillows weren't hot! This was my second visit to Spavia since it opened, and I was once again impressed by how clean and well-maintained the space is. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, especially when my locker combination didn't work--they quickly stepped in to assist. My husband recommended and booked me an appointment with his masseuse, Betty. She provided an 80-minute massage, and while the technique was thorough, I unfortunately woke up very sore on my right side, where my sciatica tends to flare up. Despite noting both verbally and on my intake form that I preferred a softer touch and that I have sciatica, much of the massage involved firm pressure using elbows and knuckles. (Now I see why my husband came back scratched after his massage this week.) The towels used were also extremely hot, but I was too shy to say anything. While I appreciated the time and effort, I felt the overall experience wasn't as attentive to my needs as I had hoped. I've had two massages with Matthew already and he is so good. I really am not a huge fan of massages but he is really great and the massage was so relaxing. I feel a lot lighter and my body isn't tense. I love the little room you can relax in while drinking tea. I noticed they have coloring books too. She suggested I try deep tissue next time but I mentioned to her I have received the signature massage here before and never had that experience where it was very soft touch and no added pressure when asked. My first experience with the signature massage was great and I did not have to ask the mt for any adjustments. I eventually asked to speak to the owner and was told she was out of town I would have to contact her via email. A second issue occurred through payment. For my service I payed half cash half gift card. I found out the spa charged my card as well. I had to call in and inform the spa of this front desk said they would speak to a manager and possibly get back to me in a few days. Came here for a couples massage, as a birthday gift for my boyfriend. And honestly it was disappointing. For starters the lady in the front took us to separate rooms where we had to change. She didn't even inform me to change. She didn't show me where anything was. so I sat there for like 5 minutes, clueless... I had to go outside and ask her. We get into the massage place, one of the masseuse was COUGHING!!!! The entire time... I did not feel relaxed or anything the entire time. The sink in the restroom, wasn't even dripping as much water. Idk if that's how it's suppose to be or what... I felt as if the hour went by extremely fast without any difference. If you're in the mood to relax and have a good massage avoid this by all cost Taylor at the front receptionist, rude no communication skills and the perfect person to stress you out more than any Massage could relieve you. I went in for the first time after being gifted a package (a massage and facial) and it was divine! I loved that the waiting area (aka the "retreat") is separated from the reception area. The waiting area is next to the locker and shower/changing room and it is absolutely relaxing. You feel relaxed the moment you step into those doors. You get a warm cozy robe, some sandals & are offered tea and water. I received my first massage ever and Jen was so gentle yet was able to get in those muscles of mine. She made sure i was comfortable and okay with the pressure she was phenomenal! Clara did my facial and she was so welcoming, kind & humorous! This is a three part review. Review 1 is for the previous time I visited. Review 2 is for the most recent time. Review 3 is on the place itself. Review 1: I saw the massage therapist Roger and I had also did the Hyperbolt add on. I got a signature massage. The hyperbolt definately loosens your musceles. If you can take a lot of pressure the hyperbolt is a good add on to loosen the tension for the massage. If you are sensitive, then I do not reccomend the hyperbolt. My massage therapist, Roger, was very good at getting rid of all the tension in my body. If you are an athelete or a frequent gym goer he might be a good choice of a massage therapist for you. With the combo of the hyperbolt and the massage you might be sore after but it is definately worth it. After two days the soreness was gone and my tension was gone too. It was great!!! Roger was also very respectful, kind, and honest during the massage. Review 2: I got the 60 minute signature massage and I saw the massage therapist, Jen. Jen was very nice and very open, respectful, and honest. I loved how friendly she was and willing to listen to my needs. She was very good at communicating everything. What I loved most about my massage with her was the way her hands worked out the tension in my body. One of my favorite parts of a massage is how the massage therapist's hands work the tension and Jen's technique was 100% perfect. My massage with her was relaxing and I loved that there was just the right amount of quiet and talking. She checked in with me during the massage but at the same time I could relax and enjoy the spa music. If you are looking to relax and remove tension from stress out of your body she would be the perfect choice massage therapist. I loved it!!! Review 3: This is 100% my favorite place to get a massage. Then you are shown a locker with slippers and a robe if you wish to use it. I didn't, I got changed in the room and put my things on the little shelf under the table. Adrianna was my "Specialist". I did not have a great experience here unfortunately, and I am really not one to complain and send bad feedback but I am honestly worried for the safety of others. I had the sports massage which included a massage and stretching, which was much needed after a weekend of moving. The massage part was fine, I requested firm pressure but did not get that and it felt like I was being pet more than massaged. The stretching portion is where things were really bad. She was very forceful and rough with her stretches in that she did not ease me into them. She grabbed my foot and very quickly forced it over my head which made my hamstring pop. Then did the same thing to the other one. What really concerns me is that she tried to crack my neck. Before I could tell her not to, she forcefully pushed my head down so that my chin touched my chest and then forcefully pushed my head to the side to touch my ears to either shoulder. I have been adjusted by chiropractors in the past and the way she tried to "stretch" my neck felt very unsafe and the whole right side of my neck into my upper back is incredibly stiff and sore to this day. I fell lucky that she didn't break my neck, and I wish I was exaggerating. I would really only recommend this place for massages, maybe, but definitely do not get the sports massage. read more

The person who worked on my body for 90 minutes Friday night was NOT fully trained and instead of resolving tension, created a Host of issues- including inflammation, stiff neck, stiff shoulders, pain in muscles in neck and back, pain in feet - despite my telling him several times he was causing pain (I finally ended the session). And yes, they still made me PAY for the session. Make sure your technician is LICENSED to perform massage THERAPY before handing over your physical health to this place. About 15 minutes later an employee called my name and said there was a glitch In the scheduling and that the service I had booked only had 1 machine and someone else had already booked it a month ago. She asked if I wanted to reschedule or do another service. Her attitude was very passive and did not seem genuine at all. Beware of same day cancellations/rescheduling . I did not know that there was a charge to reschedule. I've rescheduled same day before and was never told about a charge for rescheduling less than 24 hours. I had just booked the appointment online and called an hour later asking to reschedule because I wasn't going to be able to make it in time due to living out of town. Ended up just canceling the appointment all together and lost $69. I am glad I cancelled my membership not worth the drive. Just disappointed and I'm glad I got rid of my membership. I had the best prenatal massage here! It was the most relaxed I've felt my entire pregnancy. The heated bed was a plus as well! I had been here once before my pregnancy and had just as great of a massage! They also offer cbd as an add on which is just amazing for the muscles and being able to pick your own massage scent and audio sounds to listen to is a nice personal touch! The only reason I knocked off 1 star is for these two small reasons.. 1) even if you select the "no talking" option I feel both therapists talked more than I'd typically like 2) they were having issues with their systems and me filling out forms which cut into my massage time so by the time I asked if I could do it afterwards - the receptionist just led me to the waiting room with no direction on what was next and didn't offer me a robe because everything with the forms cut into my massage time. Our recent visit to Spavia did not meet our expectations. Right before COVID began, we were looking forward to getting another massage here, but of course everything closed down shortly after. When Spavia started offering services again, we were excited and finally had the chance to schedule a couples massage. We expected to be given a similar treatment (with COVID protocols accounted for) as our last pre-pandemic experience, but we were instead greeted with a watered down version. The receptionist was great and had us fill out paperwork again (apparently they didn't have info from our last stay). This was quick and painless. Then she led us to the women's retreat. Weirdly enough, she let me and my husband wait in the little couch area in the women's retreat together where we stayed in our normal clothes. My husband was not led to the men's retreat. We were given no robes or slippers or put anything in a personal locker. I barely had a sip of water before we were rushed into our massage. We were instructed to undress and put everything under the massage bed. The massage itself was great and we had a relaxing time. Kayla and Athena were very professional and made sure we were comfortable. After our massage they asked us if we would like water or hot tea. Upon opening the door they greeted us with our drinks and said "thank you, have a nice day!". What? I wasn't allowed to go back to the women's retreat to drink my tea? Instead I was rushed out to sip it in the hot sun outside. That bothered me. Previously I was not rushed and got to actually use the retreat amenities. To the business owners: do not advertise the retreat if you won't let your clients use it (besides the restroom and drinks). Be clear about what you're offering to your clients. To add insult to injury, instead of breaking down what our massage therapists recommended for our future massage needs, we were instead encouraged to sign up for their monthly membership. What attracted to us about Spavia is their customer service, proximity to us, and the amenities they provide. With the current climate of COVID, I don't feel like our money spent is completely worth the prices because we cannot use their amenities. We will be trying out other places in the meantime. Update: in response to the owner's reply to my review - if you wanted my husband and I to feel "special", you'd at least give us time to enjoy our after massage drinks together in the retreat for at least 5 minutes. Don't just rush us out the exits outright. We understand why you all can't provide the same amenities. Even though I had told him I wanted it to be quiet so that I could try and sleep during the massage, he kept talking. Too. Many. Questions. Questions about random stuff. **3.5 stars...** My first experience at Spavia was in San Antonio in April of 2019. I absolutely LOVED it, and when I found out about their Long Beach location, I couldn't wait to make an appointment to get in! Unfortunately my visit here fell short. Here's why... At first I tried to book online, but the calendar was full, so I decided to call in and see if they had any last minute openings available. Mendiy (hope I spelled that correctly!) answered the phone and was very pleasant. She was helpful and was able to schedule me for an ultimate hot stone massage at 2pm. While I was on the road, my ETA was going to be about 5-10 min late, so I called back to see if she could push me back a bit. No problem, she changed my time slot to 2:20pm. I arrived shortly before then and was quickly greeted by Mendiy and another woman (forgot her name, sorry!) who took me right to the back and gave me a quick tour of the facility. The women's restroom had all the amenities a normal spa has, such as showers, changing areas, lockers, etc. However, due to the damn rona, the luxurious plush robes and slides they provide normally were not available for use, and neither were the showers or lockers. =( I was then led into the women's retreat where you can relax with your choice of a mimosa, hot tea, or water. After that, you're taken to your treatment room. I was really looking forward to this hot stone massage for 80 minutes because I'm in the gym anywhere from 3 to 5 days a week and my body NEEDED it. Nataly was my masseuse, and while she was nice, I couldn't relax completely for the most part because during my treatment, she obviously needed to blow her nose, but didn't. She just kept on with my massage as I listened to her sniff it back up (idk how else to explain it but you know what I mean)! I should have said something but I was just trying to tone it out and relax as much as possible. THEN, as the massage went on, I started to wonder when she was gonna bust out the hot stones. I didn't see a clock in the room so I didn't know how much time had passed. The stones NEVER came. For the most part, she was just applying pressure with her arm or elbows to my trouble spots (neck, upper back, behind my shoulder blades) for what seemed like an eternity in one spot at a time. In fact, she ONLY did my upper body, didn't touch anywhere below my waist...ummm whaaaaat?!? When it was over, I quickly got dressed and she met me outside the room with another cup of hot tea. I had asked her about the stones and she said there may have been some kind of miscommunication as far as what I requested and that the stones sometimes need to be "prepared a day in advance." I then walked to the front to pay, but brought it up with Mendiy. She apologized profusely and was really nice about it. She went to talk to the manager and came back saying they would leave a note in my profile for a free half hour on my next visit. Since I live over an hour away, I'm not sure when that will be, but I appreciated their professionalism and the way they handled the situation. Mendiy did say that while I was making my appointment with her over the phone, the call may have dropped which would explain the mishap. Though the call did not drop completely, I did remember a brief moment of silence which is probably why she didn't hear me say "hot stone" and I did not hear her confirm "deep tissue" which is what I received. This location is at the Long Beach Exchange, where you will find lots of available parking. Prices here are above average, but it's a very clean establishment with a zen-like setting. Definitely NOT a hole-in-the-wall, lol. Everyone is masked and you are required to wear one when you enter, and during your treatment. I'm sad to say that my first visit here was not at all what I had hoped for, but I am impressed with their level of customer service.
