The prices are super reasonable and the owner did a fantastic job on my brows. She wasn't one of those super aggressive threading ladies, where she pushes the thread super hard into your skin. I stopped in after a pedicure at my favorite nail spot looking to get my eyebrows threaded. I was still working through some PTSD from my last threading at a new salon (I ended up with crooked brows that even liner couldn't conceal), so I was really hesitant to try a new place. Julie, the owner, greeted us warmly when we walked in. When she quoted me $10 for brows, I declined because my usual place does them for $7, but she offered to do my upper lip at no charge. I was in such a rush trying to find a place that would be able to do a bunch of treatment because I was about to leave for vacation. So it's been just about 1 week since my threading.... and I'm getting a lot of little hairs. Usually I can go a full week or two without any growth, and whatever growth there is is thin and sparse. This time, I have lots of prickly little hairs growing on both my eyebrows and upper lip! It's as if the hairs weren't pulled at the root and were just broken off right at the skin surface. I've been getting my eyebrows threaded and waxed for years and in pretty much every major us city. There are two people who I have found to be the best. Some girl in Denver and Riya. No this is not some bougie salon where you are going to pay $50 for mediocre work. This girl is fast and it's inexpensive and your eyebrows look bomb. So if it's going to bother you that she talks on the phone or points out that you have hair on your lip and or cheek that she could take care of for you (for barely any extra money) - you can go be treated like a princess elsewhere and waste your money and have mediocre brows that you could probably do at home. I searched on Yelp where to go get my eyebrows threaded. It was my first time going to Riya and I'm glad I stopped by. The threading was quick and painless, and I'm very sensitive! In regards to price, it was definitely more than usual but I was willing to pay that extra few dollars to see if the reviews matched the service (and it did). Terrible experience - the lady botched off some critical hairs right at the front of my eyebrow, making the 2 sides uneven. Then, she proceeded to basically pull out my nose hairs while threading my upper lip. I had to tell her to just stop midway through because it was ridiculously painful and unnecessary. Not only that - the total for eyebrows and upper lip was 15 bucks and she didn't even trim the eyebrows with a scissor. Never again! read more

I went the first time, she thinned out my right eyebrow. I went again today, told her that my right eyebrow was thinner than the left one and asked her to not take out too much hair on the right side in order to make it thicker and even with the left one. The salon is a nice space and the prices so affordable! And most importantly, my brows looked great afterwards. I will say one thing though--this may not worry most others, but because I have pimply skin/am a huge germaphobe, I didn't like the fact that she didn't wash her hands before she touched my face. She also picked up the phone mid-threading and didn't wash her hands after either. And I really don't like it when people use the giant communal brush to brush hair off my face!! AHH. Riya is good. I've come here about five times to get my eyebrows threaded. She does a good job threading. My only complaint is that they offer a DePaul Student discount and when I mention it and show my ID, I still seem to get charged regular price. I'm not too sure what is up with that. Nice place to go when I am not out south and able to get my usual $5 deal. read more
