I have had my eyebrows threaded for many years, in different cities and countires, paying any where from $10 to $50...and NEVER EVER in any of those sessions was I left cut up over my eyes. It didn't feel any different when getting threaded here but when I left the skin over my eyes were red and bleeding. She knew what she did and didn't even offer an apology. Sushama is a brow goddess. All I did was ask for natural brow with arch and she delivered. Amazing talent. Not only that she is the sweetest thing, so nice. First time threading and it was painless, easy. She only makes appointments for the same day so call at 11am if you don't want to wait. Sashuma did an amazing thread and tint job! I have blonde eyebrows and I'm always terrified of finding a new brow place to tint but she shaped and dyed perfectly so that they're not giant or over done. I usually prefer waxing bc previous threading hurt too much but I honestly have never had a better less painful experience than here with Sashuma. The price is super reasonable compared to other surrounding places. Def coming back read more

After reading the reviews, I was so excited to check this place out. After about a 5 minute wait, the nice lady invited me in, without an appointment. We first talked about how uneven my brows were due to over threading by different hands, then she came up with a sensible solution. The eyebrow threading was fine. She left a line of straggly hair under one eyebrow to be dealt with later to help with the evenness. Anyway, the star rating is because of the chin waxing. I'm not sure what she did but a layer of skin was removed from my chin. I didn't see the burn while at my appointment so I paid and tipped her even though it stung. However, when I met up with friends later, it became evident that I had been burned. I may go back for the threading, however, the nice lady will never wax me again! OK, this was the best threading experience I have had in my LIFE! My eyebrows are now new beings and they are fleeky and fierce. I came in here looking for a place to get my eyebrows done that was close to my hotel while I was in Chicago. I usually have to drive out of my way to get my eyebrows done at home, so walking somewhere seemed much easier! This place is located inside a building next to a lot of other small beauty shops. I was able to walk in and was seen almost immediately. I explained what I wanted done to my brows (AKA nothing crazy because I'm trying to make sure they stay thick and shapely). The wonderful woman doing my brows, Sushma, was so sweet and speedy. She told me I needed to get my eyebrows done a certain way because of my hair growth which is great to know for future appointments. Pricing was steeper than what I'm used to paying ($14) but it was well worth it. I love my brows! They are the perfect shape! read more

I was staying downtown so was fully expecting prices $30 and up (and called around and got just that) so when I heard her price of $12, I was initially skeptical but she had good reviews and was so close I thought I'd take a chance. I've been looking for an eyebrow threading place since I've moved to Chicago and I finally found this place. I called first to see if they were free for a walk-in, so I went an hour later and they got me in right away. She did a great job with the shape and gave advice on how they should grow. It actually hurt less than any other place I've been to, however my skin did break out which has never happened before. It was $14 and $17 with tip. Not bad, but just more than I am used to paying. I plan to return. P.S. It's a little hard to find, but you walk into the building and it's a small room downstairs and to the left. Update: this is the cheapest threading place I've been able to find! The other places are $35+. They've always been able to get me in and I haven't broken out since my first appointment. She was truly fantastic and gave me a little head massage when she was putting the aloe gel on :) will definitely return when I'm back in Chicago! This place is great at threading, but extremely rude. I've gotten my eyebrows threaded here dozens of times because it's across from my work. The last time I had an appointment, however, they kept me waiting for 10 minutes. Not a big deal except this time, I got pulled into a meeting at work and was late for my appointment. I got a very rude call telling me that I need to respect her time, which was pretty ridiculous considering my experience last time. Loooong overdue review! Sushma is the best. She was my go to in Chicago. I still see her when I visit the city, even after finding eyebrow threading after moving. Everything about her appointments is great - scheduling is efficient (ideally days in advance but she'll even try to squeeze you in if you walk in or call day of), the studio is immaculate and peaceful, and she's super calming and all around awesome at what she does. Sushma is a miracle worker. She was able to shape my unruly, uneven (thanks to my insane parrot plucking behavior) brows so that they look natural, yet groomed. She's a one woman show, so have patience when you appear at her door, and there are three other gals ahead of you. I've only been for threading, but plan on returning for a face massage. If it's anything like an extension of how she applies lotion to your brows post threading, your face is in for a tension relieving treat. I am so glad this place opened up right by my work. I'm a big fan of threading because it's the only way to get my eyebrows in shape without inducing a breakout like waxing does. I walked in without an appointment on my lunch break and Sushama sat me down right away. She is very friendly and easy to talk to. What I loved is that she did one brow first, then showed it to me to make sure I liked it before continuing with the other one. She was done in about ten minutes and might be the first person who actually listened when I said, "Not too thin, just clean them up." She even topped off the service by applying a soothing aloe lotion in very relaxing motions that felt great (apparently she does quick neck and shoulder massages too, I might have to try one next time!) My brows look amazing, it took no time at all, AND I only paid 12 bucks. Can't beat that! Great experience. Tip: she told me noon-2pm are her busiest times, so if you're going to do a walk in, might be best to go around those hours (I went in around 11:15am), though she said it would only be a minor wait during those hours. Also, it's located in the Phenix Beauty complex thingy at 100 E Walton. While I liked the place I used during my college years, occasionally, they'd wax a little too much off if I wasn't super-specific, so my eyebrows were slightly mismatched. Currently, I'm in downtown Chicago, where the prices can be slightly ridiculous (I saw some as high as $35!), so when I found Thread 'n' Wax on Yelp offering threading for $12 in a convenient location, I decided to check it out. Sushma was super sweet and accommodating, squeezing me in between appointments. Like everyone has said, she asked me what I wanted first and told me how she'd fix the asymmetry. Even though threading feels like ants are attacking my forehead, she was relatively quick and the process was less painful than I remembered from prior threading experiences. I actually gasped out loud when she showed me my eyebrows. I haven't been this happy with them in ages. Highly recommended even if the price is a bit higher than other places.
