Picked up this half-baked pie to bring some to him up in Frederick as a birthday surprise. A must visit if you're in Leesburg. I have visited Giovanni's for lunch several time, excellent soup and salad. The pizza is excellent as well. True NY style thin crust. It's foldable to make it easier to eat. Fresh dough is the key here. I imagine they make the sauce in house and grate their own mozzarella. It's too fresh and tasty to think otherwise. This is one that I wish I had taken a picture of, but I did not. I wanted the clams fettuccine and they offered 3 different kinds of sauce so I went with the olive oil and garlic. It was absolutely disgusting like they had mixed Alfredo sauce with olive oil and added garlic. Blah! The garlic knots, which are usually pretty good were just not on point that night. 4/5 November 2023. We stopped here with friends for dinner. The service was good, not the best ever but well above acceptable. This place is a classic old school pizzeria. It's not some hyper modern neapolitan hipster fest and that's a good thing. The pizza is good as are the pasta dishes. It may not be my favorite pizza spot in the area but it's an excellent choice if you're in the area in search of some good pizza. read more

Came here, still on a quest for the best pizza in Leesburg. This place might the one! I thought it had an excellent crust, and a good layering of cheese, meat and veggies. BF, whom I will lovingly call a pizza snob, thought the crust was not yeasty enough. However I liked it-thin but not cracker like. Unfortunately we got the pizza as takeout, and it sat for a few minutes while we finished our cocktail time. So when we ate the pizza it was not fresh out of the oven. It was really busy here tonight at 6:00pm, and the service was a little slow but the pizza was really good. We had a couple problems, the scillian pizza we ordered came out a bit overdone the bottom and edges were dried out and burnt. Grew up going to this family-owned establishment. Service is always friendly and the food is great. My favorites include the steak & cheese sub, stuffed mushrooms, pasta primavera, and ,of course, the lasagna. They offer a 10% discount for paying with cash which is also nice. Still on the hunt for the best Pizza in Leesburg; however, Giovanni's is the best place we have found so far. I recommend the thin crust "special." They hand toss the dough --it is solid neighborhood pizza. We have ordered out more than five times and each time the pizza is delicious and the prep times are accurately estimated and always less than 30 minutes. Even though there is no delivery they have specially marked places for those picking up. Run by a great group of folks who really care about their customers and enjoy their work. read more

Bad pizza but okay service. We went there for a quick dinner and turns out we ordered Giovanni's Gourmet 16" Pizza and fries and drink. Thought it should be good but turns out it was a big disappointment!! I supposed Giovanni's Gourmet Pizza is their signature pizza but in fact it was the worst I ever had. The pizza has little of everything; cheese, olive and spinach. The crust was 2 inches thick and hard as rock! I don't know how they justify to charge more than the other pizza on the menu. A true institution, I have been coming here since 1993 and I am so happy it still stands in all it's glory. Still has it's very similar decor and nostalgic mom and pop feel. It was quite busy on a Friday evening, both with pickups and inside but we found a table right away. They still have legit menus which is nice and man, have their choices grown. We went with a 12 inch pizza and mozzarella sticks. The mozz sticks are great and quite large (the beer battered type) and the 12 inch pizza was perfect since we couldn't take home leftovers. The chianti pour for a $6.50 glass was insane- like best deal ever and a really good chianti. I am still in love with this place and seems like the locals are as well.Long live Giovanni's! read more

We have visited Giovanni's second time because we have liked our first visit. Pizza was okay, but the service was bad. They have mess up my order and I had to wait for the correct pizza. We have heard two tables around us getting upset and cancelling their order. People didn't seem happy. They were busy, and waiters were confused. They need to train their waiters better. Another thing is that there was a fruit fly flying over our table. Our drinks delivered to our table spilling all over the place. The place need an urgent update decorating wise. Waiters were wearing casual clothes so we didn't know who was the waiter who wasn't We had three different people serve our table. Fire Works is always busy and they have people waiting outside with pagers to get a table and they always do it right. Clean, fast service and delicious pizza. I am adding pictures of the pizza that were right order and some were not right. For example, I have ordered bruschetta pizza and I got bruschetta with no tomatoes on it. Instead, it had anchovies and fried eggplants on it. The other pizza was supposed to be with mushrooms, eggplants, and anchovies, but that one arrived as plain cheese pizza. I love coming here with family. Any time I visit the parents in Leesburg, we usually venture here for some good ol fashioned Italian comfort food in a small family atmosphere. My parents go to is their seafood over linguine with the red sauce. They order it every time and it never disappoints. It's got shrimp, clams, scallops, mussels, and calamari. Solid variety of seafood items mixed together. If you read my other reviews, you'll know that my love for pizza is infinite, pure, and true; like an R&B singer serenading a loved one. That's me only I'm singing about pizza. Anyways the pizza here is favorably priced with great flavor and crusts. You can get it by the Slice or by the pie (recommended). I usually order their special pizza which has sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers, and onions. Delicious and at a solid cheap deal. I also love their white pizza which is available by the slice. Aside from pizza, their pasta dishes such as their chicken and broccoli, eggplant parmigiana, and veal Marsala are tasty and large. As for subs, the veal parm, Italian hero, and steak and cheese rock. As far as service goes, we've never had a bad service. There are a few times where it's been a bit slow but that happens when the place is packed on a wait and there are only 2-3 servers working. Meanwhile, the owner and his staff always greet us with smiles and cheerfulness. My family has gotten to know their family over the past decade and we have a deep respect and trust about what Giovanni's represents for the community of not just Leesburg, but the entire Loudoun County. This is truly one of the best family restaurants in Leesburg where you get solid high quality Italian comfort food at a reasonable price that won't break the bank. This used to be one of our favorite pizza places. We got a stewed tomato sauce with no spices. The sausage was a handful of slices sprinkled on top sparingly. Same for the artichoke hearts. A call to the store was met with denial. "It's always been that way. The oregano and basil is like a powder - you can't see it ." Right - and you can't taste it either. There are way too many other pizza outlets so you don't have to be subjected to this poor excuse. Run away very fast ! read more

Hey there, I am from NY and still live there. I am in Leesburg to see a friend. Giovanni's NY pizza is truly remarkable. I would say that if I lived here, this would definitely be my go to place for pizza!!! And their customer service....amazing! Here's it's what Gio did for me!! A good friend of mine's wife was very ill, I called down from L.I. and spoke with Gio. I wanted to buy a gift card for my friend. Gio let me do the entire transaction with him over the phone, and my friend went there to use the credit for dinners. Today I am here now because we are attending the funeral. Last night, after the wake, my friend wanted Giovanni's pizzas for all at the house. So about 9:00 pm I called Gio's and asked if they would make up 10 pies. We eventually got 15. It was totally not a problem. Gio said it will be about a half hour. We got there in 20 minutes and ALL the pies were ready. Amazing Gio!! I introduced myself to Gio, told him who I was and thanked him for helping us out and doing that gift card earlier. The pizzas were outstanding, hot and crusty!!!! But the best, besides the taste and the service, was the price. Unbelievable, what Great deal!!! It certainly is NY pizza without the NY price!!! THANKS AGAIN TO GIO!!!!! GRAZI! read more
