I have not been impressed. They seem to cancel and reschedule appointments a lot. The front desk does not communicate or follow up.

My daughter has been going to physical therapy and speech here for a few years. The therapists and staff are incredible! We have seen lots of improvement and she has a great time while she's here. Support staff does a great job with scheduling and rescheduling for missed appointments. They office is in the heart of Mission Valley and is easily accessible with designated parking out front. We came across Kara Dodds because the Speech Therapist, Tracy, who our child was working with moved here. We are so thankful for the introduction to this facility because we have seen such an improvement within this 1st year of going. Keep in mind -- depending upon your availability, there can be a waitlist to get a time slot for your child but it is definitely worth waiting. Everyone is super friendly, supportive, and have numerous services offered. Currently our child has been going for Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy, so these two departments are what my review is for. Speech Therapy: We initially worked with Tracy and was the sole reason of why we chose to transfer to this location. Tracy was our child's very first Speech Therapist but was short lived due to scheduling availability. However in the the few months we worked with Tracy it was easy to see that she is truly passionate about her profession. She is such a genuine individual and also provides lots of tips and resources for the parents. She truly cares about your child, their growth and well being. And even though she no longer is our child's speech therapist, whenever she sees us in the lobby, she always greets us and gives my child a hug. My child's current Speech Therapist, Reagan is amazing. She is super knowledgeable and has a think outside of the box approach which has helped our child in more ways than I can count. She is super friendly, patient, and has introduced us to different approaches with our child's learning. Reagan also is very kind and always greets us with a smile. Even when my child isn't in the mood she is somehow able to draw my child in and get them engaged. She has provided tips and resources in how to increase our child's methods of communicating with us. Our child recently got approved for a 2nd hour of Speech and was recently introduced to Speech Therapist, Justine. We've only had one session with her so far but she definitely has a way with kids. My child warmed up to her super quickly and she kept him engaged throughout the session. Looking forward to working with her more. Occupational Therapy: Our child has only seen one Occupational Therapist, Dana, who is truly the best. From the start, Dana was patient, took the time to get to know our child, and always super sweet. She has helped our child with using utensils, getting comfortable in new environments, and has provided different methods to assist with our child's sensory needs -- she's got it all. Our child loves going to OT and working with her so much that there are days we are at the office only for Speech, but our child will head towards the gym. Overall, this location has been amazing for us and would highly recommend it. If you're looking for a place of highly knowledgeable professionals to help your child but also very friendly, genuine, and resourceful, look no further this is the place. read more

My son previously attended speech here & later graduated. A couple years later my pediatrician recommended he return. It's been a NIGHTMARE. I was told 4-6 weeks to get an appointment. I called multiple times to check on the status but no one ever answers the phones. When I finally did get ahold of someone I was told they were supposed to call me 3 weeks ago with an appointment & someone else would be calling me to review it. Shocker, they never did. Called again yesterday & was told my son wasn't even in the system. Unprofessional to say the least. read more

My son has been going to Kara Dodds for years. He's probably one of the most challenging cases for the organization. We've had our Ups and Downs with management over the years to say the least! Miss Taylor M. became my son's speech therapist in March, and she has really connected with him. The days of him screaming are in the past and he's made great progress. We started taking our daughter to occupational therapy and speech therapy at the Santee location about a year ago and today was her last visit. Our daughter loved coming here everyone was very nice but one person who stood out to us who kept us coming even when we felt our daughter no longer needed it was Dana. She was amazing we loved her and so did our daughter we felt like she did a transformation on her. Thank you to her and the nice staff. Kara Dodds is amazing. My son has been going there for over a year now and has made such great improvements. He started with both OT and Speech therapy. He loved having Jenna as his OT therapist and already graduated from her sessions a couple months ago because he was doing so well. He already misses her! As for speech therapy, because he had such a slow start to speaking and struggled with his articulation and communication skills, he still has to go two times a week. But I cannot recommend Taylor M. enough for her outstanding work with my son! When he first started going there at just under two years old, he wasn't speaking at all, not even saying mama or dada. Since then he has been able to make great strides in his speaking abilities. Taylor is always so patient, kind and tailors to his specific needs. Moreover, her approach to each session made it fun and engaging to the point where my child loved coming to each session and was comfortable and excited. After each session, she always provided us with feedback on how he is doing and what she is working on so we as parents can remain informed and involved in his learning process. We are grateful we found Kara Dodds, and even more grateful that our son got paired with such amazing therapists! read more

My little brother Zachary has been coming here for almost a year and he has learned so much.  We love coming to Kara Dodds. Zach is talking so much more. Ms. Amanda and Ms. V are great.  The teachers are very nice and good at teaching the kids. We would never choose any other speech therapy over Kara Dodds. Our kids has been coming to Kara Dodds and Associates since 2011 and we can not say enough about the staff. When my daughter first started we could barley understand her and neither could the staff. After working with her for an hour each Saturday for the past 5 years now, she is now caught up to kiss her age, there is only a slight delay and she loves coming. We use the mission valley office for the speech and the office is really clean and lots of space. When you walk in you are created by first name and they talk to the kids in a first name basis also. The OT gym in mission valley is huge and also has been a god send to my daughter as she also spends a hour a week there for the past year almost they have a gross motor room and fine motor room. Everyone is very patient and works on the kids level and gives them just enough push to keep them going and trying and they give lots of praises. The santee office has been open for a few months and we love it. We mainly use this office for OT and the space is huge. The fine motor rooms are nice and quite and the ways they use to teach the kids is amazing. It is ways that they remember in class and home also. Thank you everyone :) read more

Best place ever! My son is nearly 3, he's made wonderful progress with his speech. I see a huge improvement in his confidence also. He adores Vidya - she has a lovely, genuine personality and her passion truly shines. It's easy to see that she brings out the best in people. Everyone we have met is amazing at Kara Dodds and Associates, I recommend this establishment highly. And don't forget to sneak over to the Cupcake Store next door for a treat! read more

We have been seeing Hyland here for a few months now, and my son's speech has grown leaps and bounds! When we started he had just a few words, and now he is constantly surprising me with new things he is saying and imitating. Sitting in the session with Hyland makes it easy to absorb her techniques to use at home with him, and he loves going here- he never wants to go home! We have just started speech therapy for my 3 year old son, and so far it has been amazing! Everyone that works there have been so friendly. My son feels completely comfortable with his therapist, which has been a dream since it can sometimes be difficult for him to open up! Our therapist has been so positive and really encouraging with this whole process. I also love that the front room has plenty of toys for my kids to play with while we wait. My son is being seen for both speech and OT services at Kara Dodds. We have been receiving therapy here since end of last year, 2015 and I have seen such great improvements in my son in both his amount of spoken language and his articulation, as well as his self-regulation. Vidya is our wonderful speech therapist! You can tell she loves what she does and cares for her kiddos. Vidya has been awesome in providing feedback to us as parents and answering any questions or concerns we have had along the way. My son has seen other speech therapists with other agencies before, but the caliber of therapists does not compare to KDs. We have seen other speech therapists at KDs as well and they are all skillfully trained. Most times our son does not want to leave therapy. Leslie is our OT and she is great as well. The atmosphere at KD is so refreshing, from the welcoming great personality of Sarah the admin in Santee to all the other therapists we see there who greet us. We are so thankful and glad to be part of the KD family. Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for our son on his journey to using his words. =) read more
