I rarely leave negative reviews, but unfortunately my experience with RM was extremely disappointing. First, I want to be fair and acknowledge that the staff was always friendly and professional. In particular, Kyle was courteous, responsive, and easy to work with throughout the process. Alex was very helpful and provided the requested transportation. Mike was friendly and welcoming as well. I genuinely appreciate the customer service I received from the staff. However, I brought my 2016 Tesla Model X in for suspension work and paid approximately $3,200. Prior to authorizing the repairs, Kyle and I test drove the vehicle together, and the loud popping/clunking noise that exists today was not present during that drive. After the lower suspension work was completed, I was informed that the upper control arms would also need to be replaced at an additional cost of approximately $1,300 because there was still noise present. At that time, I thought he was talking about the minor squeaky noise that we discussed in the morning, and I was planning to return next week to replace the upper control arms. However, once I drove the vehicle away, I immediately noticed a new and significantly louder popping/clunking noise when turning the steering wheel. This noise was not present before the repairs were performed. I understand that additional worn components can sometimes be discovered during a repair, but from my perspective, it is difficult to understand why the upper control arms are now being identified as the cause when this particular noise did not exist before the lower suspension work was completed. As a customer, I brought in a vehicle without this issue and left with a new problem that was never there before. To make matters worse, the vehicle's alignment still does not feel correct after the repairs. The steering wheel is still slightly off like it was never adjusted, and overall driving feel are not what I expected after spending over $3,000 on suspension work. What frustrates me most is that I spent thousands of dollars and left with less confidence in my vehicle than when I brought it in. Spending over that amount of money, should result in a vehicle that drives better, not one with new concerns and unresolved issues. Buyer beware! I took my car in for a 10am appintment, got a call at 5pm that tgey hadnt finished the car. It was for my headlights were out. Kind enough to give me a loaner so I dudnt have to drive my car hone at night with no head lights. Finally finished the car the next day, 180 bucks for the diagnostic to find the bulbs were blown out. But then they proceeded to yell me about all the reccomended repairs. They all seemed WAAAY to pricey but the one that stuck out was replacenent of the Mass Air Flow ( MAF) sensor. I actually gave changed one out myself, with a GM factory part same serial # etc etc as the original I was replacing. Got it ftom autozone for around 125.00. It took me all of 5 minutes to install with a Phillips head screw driver all of 2 screws. LITERALLY 5 minutes or less. You want to know what they quoted me??!! $489.00 for parts and labor. I called back to ask if this was a typo, I got the weirdest response. Beyond Shady!!! Actually kinda grimey! They are really glitzy and glamorous for a mechanic shop. Service under-writers, shuttle to and from the shop, on line appointment booking capability, free waters and sodas in the waiting area, loaner cars, super duper clean shop! But wow the HARD upselling, and then the pricing is quite honestly borderlibe extortion. Id rather to to a greese monkey shop, honest hard working spot that i can trust. Im new to the neighborhood so went off of yelp revies and that they are AAA certified. Plus they had a little 20% off coupon for first time customers to I gave them a go. So disappointed and quite honestly angry. Id stay away, especialky if you dont know your stuff, they just might take you to the cleaners like they tried to do me. Brought my car in for antifreeze leak and an oil leak. Was initially quoted $1800 to fix it (which already felt like I was being over charged) then as soon as I left the car for the To repair they called back and said it was gonna be 2500 to fix after finding another broken part. Alright now that's $700 more than the initial quote. Even though I felt like this was a strong arm sales tactic (since they pretend to give discounts, though the labor charges say otherwise) I agreed to the fix because I wanted my car fixed immediately. I got a call saying my car is ready, but I would have to bring it back and pay $350 to flush out the antifreeze system because there's oil in it. The prices here are on the higher end, possibly due to extra level of service. Something to keep in mind - make sure you understand that they mark the price of parts up and then add a margin on top. They will charge you extra for parts vs what you would pay online. If you understand what their markup is and you are happy with it - no problem. They figured out a really tricky issue i had with my PATS system on my 2001 Ford Explorer Sport. Initially they recommended 2 new transponder keys however it worked temporarily and had to tow the vehicle back in. They took my car back in problem and narrowed down the problem to the wiring harness going from the key transceiver to the computer, car works great now. I brought my car in after my wife mentioned it had a few minor issues. Before coming to your shop, I drove the car myself under different speeds and conditions but didn't notice any problems. To be extra cautious, I first took it to the dealership, where they performed a full diagnostic. They recommended replacing the valve body and gave me an estimate for the repair. Even so, the car continued to drive perfectly fine. I then took the vehicle to RM Automotive for a second opinion. After reviewing your estimate -- which was higher than the dealer's -- I decided to return to the dealership for the repair instead. I thanked your team, paid the $190 diagnostic fee, and said I'd be taking the car back to the dealer. A short time later, I received a call from your shop saying the car was now "not drivable" and wasn't recognizing which gear it was in. I was also told it would need to be towed. I was referred to RM by my sister's husband, who was an engineer and worked on used cars as a hobby. I hadn't serviced my car in over a year and the service light was on. The work they did, which was very thorough, was very expensive (almost $5k) but a good amount was from replacing some broken parts. Everything is 100% guaranteed for life, except the liquid replacements, of course. My brother in law looked at my detailed invoice and said it was fair. Kyle was very friendly and sent me photos of items needing service and replacing. Remember to always get a second opinion. I did not have a good experience here when I took my Honda Accord in for a rattling/grinding noise during cold start coming from the engine that I suspect was the chain tensioner. I called ahead to make an appointment and communicate what was the issue. The reason I give a 2 star is because the mechanic scratch my ceramic coated car near the driver handle, didn't put back the engine cover back on properly, left fingerprints smudges on the hood and driver door area, dirty the driver side floor with footprints, the communication with the advisor Efrian was not good, they tried to get me to leave my car over the weekend and loan me a free car I wasn't comfortable in (check pictures) with ripped up leather seats, told me the cabin AC filter was bad even though I changed it myself last month and the reason just didn't make sense especially when I checked it myself. Air filter doesn't need changing after a month and less not even 1,000 miles on it. Overall my experience here was horrible and they couldn't even pinpoint the issue after I left my car there for literally the whole day. They charge a high cost to look into the issue first and do their so called "courtesy check" which I believe is a way to sell you on certain things you don't need at almost dealership price too. The staff are friendly that's true when I interacted with them, I only came here because I saw they had great reviews on Yelp and Google but I was one of their rare customer that they dropped the ball on when they told me they take great care of people cars but I didn't experience that. They also have shuttle service here where they can drop you off. I reached out for the owner of the shop to contact me and he responded back. He agree that the communication could've been better and that they should have put things back properly but was rush since I didn't like the loaner car. He offered to clean the car and make things right by being my service advisor with a new mechanic but I don't trust the shop so I decline it. This is why I give a 2 star instead of 1. So if you come here, take before pictures of your car for your own proof and always get a second opinion. My car needs a new timing belt, I took it to another shop that was highly recommended and they did the inspection for free. Dealership will overcharge you but it's because it's the dealer and the shop is doing it for half the dealership price. The sales people at the front desk sold me a repair for part that was brand new only changed a few months ago. I trusted them to give me a fair diagnosis and I agreed to their rates and after I asked around, I was told I was double charged for what was done so I called local mechanic shops and every single price quoted was way lower. Get a second opinion on anything they say because they weren't honest with my repair. I contacted the owner about the issue and got no response. After talking to Dean the owners son, his response was buyer beware. He admitted it was wrong of them for selling me a repair without checking if the repair was necessary because had they checked they would have seen it was a new thermostat that didn't need to be replaced. His poor attitude was customers shouldn't trust the sales representatives recommendations and the customer should know what parts are new and not new on their own vehicle. Bad business. On Tuesday, 12.02.2025, I brought my 2017 KIA Optima into Dean, the owner's son, of RM Automotive (18434 Bryant Street, Northridge, CA 91325). Dean suggested that I get a new engine so I applied for and got $2,220 from SNAP Finance; I procured the remaining $4,919 to complete the cost of $7139.00. To wit, after constantly checking on the progress the vehicle was finally ready on Tuesday, 12.09.2025. To wit, I received the vehicle in good order on Tuesday, December 9th and was told to drive the vehicle 250 miles to "reset" the sensors and make sure that the vehicle could pass the smog recertification - Dean promised NOT to charge for the smog test when I brought car back in for the test. I followed Dean's advice as suggested and returned today, Thursday, December 11th, with no red lights on my dashboard. In any case, Dean then suggested that the 2017 KIA Optima needed a new Catalytic converter ($5,000) but then suggested that I could simply get my car smogged illegally if I did not have the money - you know bribe some smog testing service enough money and they would "pass" my car in any case. As a California Certified Paralegal and Process Server (Orange County#4500) I found this to be a case of fraud, waste and abuse worthy of investigation. I have turned this over the local Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) for investigation. read more

Customer service here is fantastic. Kyle treated me extremely well, responded fast, and RM Automotive's communication is very good. Honest mechanics. I brought my Porsche Cayman here after smoke and oil started coming out of the exhaust. The car then shut off and I had it towed to RM automotive. When the Technicians tried to start the car, it was clear that the motor had hydro-locked/seized. RM Automotive performed an inspection and came to the conclusion that my engine was blown and I had to swap in a new motor. With parts and labor, the swap would have totaled out to around $12,000. Obviously this is a huge fix, so I towed the car to a Porsche Specialist shop for a second opinion. Turns out, the engine isn't blown, and the Air-Oil Separator had just gone out, causing oil to be sucked into the intake and hydrolock the motor. To be fair to RM Automotive, the technician did perform a test, where he tried to manually turn the crankshaft to see if it was seized. Due to all of the oil leaking, it wouldn't allow the crankshaft to spin. In many cases this would mean the engine is truly seized, but not in this case. I think RM automotive is a very good place to take a non-german car. Not the technicians fault, I think Mid-engine Porsche's might just be too different from the traditional front engine, American cars. My total fix cost from the other shop for the air-oil separator was only $1000. I am really happy with RM automotive, however since I almost had to pay an unnecessary $11,000, I wanted to leave a review to warn other Porsche owners that a 2nd opinion can never hurt. A little background: Tesla Model X vehicles are over 6000lbs with approx 1000hp. The Model X design was based on the Tesla Model S sedan platform. One of the problems with the X design is the vehicle sits much higher than the S, which puts the half shafts at a steeper angle from the motor to the wheels. I had a great experience getting my car serviced at RM Automotive. That's saying something because having to take your car in for unexpected issues is never a good time. Their shop is small, but they've got some good people working there. Efrain was my primary contact, he was friendly but very direct about their processes and communicated with me every step of the way throughout the duration that my car was being serviced. They've got a wonderfully thorough diagnostic inspection report that they generate and provided to me. It shows pictures, the level of attention that the fix requires, and a brief explanation of the issue and possible fix. I took my Tesla Model Y in for a brake system issue, they're report found a couple other issues in addition, but they did not pressure me in any way to get more service that what was absolutely needed. That is probably the number one issue that customers will say they run into at any repair shop. Efrain did not try to upsell me on anything, he only presented their diagnosis and left it up to me to decide what services to complete. In total, my car was with RM for four days, dropped off on a Monday, picked up on Thursday. They were able to source a replacement Tesla part for me relatively quick and provided me a courtesy loaner vehicle while my car was at their shop. I had initially taken my car directly to Tesla's service center for the fix, but their labor prices are skyhigh. RM ended up doing the same service for nearly half the labor cost. My car has been running well without issues for a couple days now, and even if issues with the service do develop, RM has a life-time warranty on their services that is written into your invoice. I was charged about 200 dollars for a diagnosis and they found a few things wrong with the vehicle which I am very thankful for. They charge more than the shops around but I already knew because they do guarantee their work and they do have. Quality works. My complaint is as follow: The gentleman was asking to pay for the parts that needed for repairs way more than what actually cost. I went to an auto parts place and picked up the parts for one fraction of what they were selling them to me fore. A part that actually cost 65 bucks they wanted to charge me over two hundred bucks which is already ridiculous because they are charging you about 8 hours of labor for about 200 bucks an hour. The pilot died- Got a Mazda 6 wagon that needed simple yet direct repair to make it the perfect surfboard inside travel car ever. If I knew about this business years ago - I would still be driving the Pilot . I do not hate the M6 - it is a great car.
