I went to RM auto motive because my check engine light was on :( Efrain was the one who helped me throughout the entire thing, but everyone including Efrain was super nice and sweet and made me feel welcomed. Being a young female, going into auto shops are intimidating and sometimes they make you feel stupid, but I did not feel like when I came here. Efrain told me the exact issue with my car, explained everything, provided pictures and even printed out a diagram of the exact issue to help show and educate me. Came here for a simple smog check. Lucky for me but unlucky for me, my battery died while I was at the shop. They didn't have the battery that I needed but they were able to get it from the vendor quickly. While they were taking out the dead one they were picking up the new one to save me some time. They performed an inspection and sent a written report via email and sent pictures which very helpful. The waiting room is clean, has comfy chairs and they even have refreshments. I was so over dealing with the Ford dealership for my car repairs and general maintenance. Over the past two years, there was constantly and consistently something in need of major repair according to their assessment...which was always very costly. After doing some research, I called RM Automotive and immediately sensed their concern to provide me with an accurate diagnosis of prioritized items requiring my response. This diagnostic report was thorough, done quickly, provided to me via text, reasonable in price, and included videos and photos as evidence of items needing attention. Kyle was my service technician and provided excellent customer service from beginning to end. He was professional, knowledgeable, approachable, and reliable. Kyle's follow up was amazing and he communicated with me throughout the process. RM Automotive even provided me with valet service to/from home and a loaner vehicle so I could get to work while my car was being repaired. I am very disappointed in RM Auto, I have been going to them for nearly 6 years. I went in for an oil change, I don't even drive my car a 1000 miles a year, so it's low mileage . They recommended about $4,500 in repair work or 45% of what my car is worth. They were extremely pushy for the fuel injector service (a high margin/profit service), they wanted to replace the rear and front struts, saying they were leaking, and wanted my tires replacement with an alignment. They also wanted to replace my spark plugs (they always pull these out) for $400, when I told them I replaced them myself a few years ago (another high margin/profit service), spark plugs cost $8 bucks each and a torque wrench is another $25 bucks. Not a $400 job, at best $250 if done by a mechanic. My car isn't even worth $10,000. Long story short, I took it to another local mechanic and they were shocked that I wanted a quote for strut replacement. The new mechanic asked how many miles I had and said bring it in and we'll do a free inspection and let you know, but with the miles you have, you don't replace them just yet. The new mechanic did a thorough inspection, showed me my struts on a lift and said there was no leaks or evidence of failure or tire wear. They said my tires are good until October before they hit the 6 year mark and said your car is in great condition, just replace the tires every 6 years if you don't drive as frequently. I didn't need any of the recommended service from RM Auto. Just because things are recommended by the manufacturer, doesn't mean work needs to be done if the parts haven't failed or show signs of wear. That's a sign of a lazy business or a business that doesn't value long term relationships. RM Auto lost a customer for life, maybe I don't come in as frequently as I use to, but that's no excuse to price gouge your customers. If you think something is fishy or doesn't sound right, get a second opinion. Find another mechanic, honesty and relationships matter to me. If you wear the family owned business statement with pride, then treat your customers like family. Eventually I would have had to do all this work, but now my new honest mechnic will get my business. read more

I have been bringing my cars and trucks to RM for years. Always have had a great experience. Honest, professional crew and fair prices. Mike has saved me from being ripped off by the dealerships more than once. Brake system check: Dealership tried to tell me I had to replace my brakes and that my rotors were damaged and had to be replaced as well for over $800.00. I took it to RM, they did a complete brake system inspection and determined that there was nothing wrong with my brakes, and didn't charge me anything. RM works on my 2015 Honda Civic si, and 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 V10 Highly recommended auto shop. A+++++ service. read more

This is a great auto shop. We were driving down to LA from the Bay Area three days before Christmas and the "check engine" light went on midway through the trip. We were not sure what the issue was so wanted to get it checked out as soon as we got down to LA. Thankfully, we found RM Automotive by doing a Google search and talked to Luis over the phone. He offered to take a look at the car without an appointment if we could get to the shop before 5pm the same day, so we drove straight to the shop, arriving at ~4:30pm. By the time we arrived at the shop, the check engine light had turned off, but Luis hooked up the handheld diagnostic computer to the data port of the car and told us that it was most likely an issue with an oxygen sensor or the catalytic converter. He reassured us that it should be safe to drive it back home and if the light comes on again, we should have it checked out by our local mechanic. He did not charge us for this diagnostic service, which was a very gracious and kind gesture. The light did come on again during our drive back home, and Luis was right--it turned out to be a catalytic converter issue and we are on the back-ordered catalytic converter wait list at our local mechanic (they said it would be 7-10 days for the part to arrive). Big thanks to Luis for the last minute drop-in consultation and for being so honest and reassuring! I would definitely use RM Automotive's services in the future if we have any issues with our car during our LA visits. read more

I had an urgent issue that needed to be addressed immediately with my car, but CarMax was unable to take me when I brought it in, due to other appointments. My extended warranty however allowed to me go to another approved shop and that's how I found RM Automotive. I could not be happier with the work they did. Not only did they go over in detail EVERYTHING I brought my car in for (key stuck in the ignition, AC failing, radio buttons not working, oil change) we went over multiple other items and they handled everything with the warranty company. The part I'm most grateful for is how communicative my rep Louis was. He called everyday to keep me updated while warranty dragged their feet on approving the fixes. They also identified MULTIPLE serious issues I was unaware of during the oil change, that had not been identified in prior maintenance visits elsewhere. I cannot recommend RM Automotive enough. My 2009 Kia Sportage got really screwed up by a massive rock on the 405 and from the moment we dropped off the car to the end, everyone was really helpful and communicative. Complimentary rides to and from the repair shop are so freaking helpful and one less thing to worry about when you've got car trouble and that shows how they truly go the extra mile. It is so appreciated. My car, unfortunately, did need to be sold because the repairs were going to cost more than what the car was worth. (I had a feeling the time had come.) They were so kind and helpful throughout the whole process. I've never had anything like that happen with a car, so them guiding me through it and answering my questions was truly more than I could ask for. Do not go here. Was told by AAA to come here to have a battery looked at and replaced under warranty. I made an appointment online and even specified the reason I was coming in. The shop accepted the appointment and then when I came to in they told me they don't service batteries unless they installed it, even tho AAA specifically referred them. Their employees acted as if I was in the wrong and were very rude. There a hundreds of auto places in the valley. Don't waste your time with this one Your response to my review is complete bullshit.i see why Your employees were rude. They learn from the boss. you made an appointment for something you don't do. Wonderful service! Towed my stalled Camry there, got comprehensive breakdown of which repairs need to be done urgently for me to be able to drive safely and which ones I can come back with in some time. Great price for the amount of work done. The car was fixed super fast in two days, but I couldn't pick it up because of my work schedule - and guys at RM were kind and understanding and let me come get it a little later. I brought the civic in at 8:00 in the morning and went back home. I dropped off the car for a transmission service and brake fluid service. I am not quite sure how long it is supposed to take so I called back at around 1pm. The car wasnt ready and was notified that it would take a bit longer. It was about 3:30 when I decided to just go in the car was ready by 4. The pricing was definitely competitive but would've liked a heads-up that the whole thing would take 8 hours. Very Disappointed. My 19 year old daughter goes to college in Northridge and we do not live in the area. I needed to find a place to get her car serviced. I picked RM Auto based on their Yelp reviews. I called them ahead of time to let them know what I wanted done to the car and to complete a basic vehicle inspection. Following her appointment I called to pay over the phone and the person I talked to was very aggressive. Wish I had written down his name. He told me that it didn't look like the car had ever been serviced. Since I have had it serviced regularly, I immediately knew he was full of sh#t. He proceeded to tell me that "all" of the fluids were dirty and the levels were low. He insinuated that the car should not even be driven until the fluids are flushed and replaced for of course $1500. I paid for the oil change and told him to have the car ready for my daughter to pick up. Not being in the area to inspect the car myself, I had my daughter drive it home and we took it to our longtime trusted mechanic. After their inspection, they informed me that "all" the fluids were fine and in another 15k miles I should replace the trans fluid. RM Auto tried to take advantage of the situation and have work done that was not needed. They were rude and aggressive on the phone and tried to use scare tactics to get me to okay the work. They have since, been calling and texting my daughter telling her that she needs to bring the car in to get the fluids replaced. She has blocked their number. Honest mechanics are hard to come by. Absolutely 10000000% will forever be referring this shop to every person I come across who needs car help, but ESPECIALLY women like me who are completely ignorant to anything car related thus resulting in huge fear of going to get my car fixed. I always feel like I'm getting taken advantage of. True story: I honestly picked this place because I saw a photo on Yelp of two of the owners and the woman in the photo had kind eyes. This, of course, meant that there was no way this shop would allow any bafoonery to occur with such a lovely woman having anything to do with it. And I was right. They went out of their way to send me pictures of everything they found, explained everything EXTREMELY thoroughly and walked me through what was more important to fix now versus later. I'm not going to discuss pricing because I truly feel that they are worth the money I'm giving (although, I will say that for all the work they are doing and all they repairs being made, I was honestly surprised at how minimal the financial damage was). Stay away! Filter rates lowest first to see the real truth. I went in for a metal noise that is happening in the FRONT of my car. I showed a video with the huge noise. They didn't ride it to diagnose the problem (odometer reading was as I left). All they did was to find problems they could monetize upon. The money I paid to get some professional ears help was spent on "complimentary inspection." Which on my books is just called "upsale." Instead of asking for a refund, I prefer to lose that to alert other people. The guy spent 5min talking about how my front tires were bad bc of the shocks (they were brand new). Then, he went and correct himself and said it was the back and that was what was causing the (metal) noise in the front of the car. Frankly, I was a little reluctant to try a new auto repair shop, but I had an oil leak, a coolant leak, and some badly worn front rotors that needed serious attention. Bryan, one of RM's mechanics, installed new rotors, a new water pump, a timing chain, an oil pan gasket, AND changed my oil, and flushed the transmission. Amazing Mechanic Service from A-Z!! This shop meets all of the requirements to qualify as a great business! I first stumble upon RM Automative when searching through Yelp. My primary mechanic retired so I was looking for another place to do my periodic maintenance. I decided to call RM and was answered by Luis. My first impression of Luis was a professional young man with a very confident voice. He asked me questions and listened to al my needs. I mentioned to Luis that I had a very small window on a particular day to get my oil changed and he accommodated me right away. He previewed all the different services that RM offered and reassured me that I will be taken care of. My first impression of the shop upon arrival was that it was very clean! I pulled up into the driveway and was greeted and waved by several workers. This is very refreshing and I have not experienced this kind of courtesy from any mechanic shops before. I entered the main office and spoke to Luis. We went over what I wanted to do and discussed about different options. Just like over the phone, Luis continued to maintain his professionalism and positive attitude. I also had an interaction with Robert as well and he too asked me several questions regarding what I wanted to do. Robert made sure I knew that I would have a ride if I wanted to drop off the car and come back later. I really appreciated the level of customer service that RM Automotive provided. I would like to share a positive experience that I recently had with this auto shop. After bringing my car in for a lot of work, I realized after the fact that my AC was still having troubles. I brought it back in and Mike found out that the issue was actually something that they had not diagnosed. Took my 2004 4Runner in for P0020 code which is an O2 sensor, maybe. It could be a lot worse and expensive. They found the problem and it was RATs had chewed through the wire. RM also found the shoddy radiator install from a different shop and fixed that too. They could have up charged me at every turn. They didn't.
