We had an outstanding experience with Robert Electrical in upgrading our home's supply from 100A to 200A and installing 2 EV circuits. The owner Robert Ortiz was highly knowledgeable about the work needing to be done and a pleasure to work with. We could not be more satisfied with their work. The job was relatively complex involving getting a permit from PG&E for the upgrade, completing the design, digging a trench from the curbside to the panel for the 200A wires, replacing the old panel with a brand new one, installing 2 EV circuits in the garage and coordinating all activities with PG&E. Due to a job delay the two technicians arrived a bit late. Both were kind and apologetic. They were focused and started with phase one of the project. Wearing a mask and covering my floor was appreciated. Phase two was very challenging. They read the instructions, looked it up online, called the boss. Truly made a valiant effort. But were unable to complete the task. Asked that I call Robert- the owner; chief electrician. So I did. He came on Saturday morning, with a mask and a pleasant attitude. My task was indeed challenging but he didn't give up. Robert called the manufacturer and had them walk him through it. He traveled nearly 30 (?) miles to service me with no additional charge. I've hired Robert and his crew twice to do some major upgrades on my old house. They put in a new 200 amp main panel and a garage subpanel, added recessed lighting, various new fixtures, smart outlets, and another 240v outlet. They were able to quickly work around several complications around wiring access in my aging house with an addition. Robert did a good job of explaining what exactly they were doing and was happy to make adjustments in the middle of the job for things like lighting position. Robert is simply the best out there. Not only was his work second to none, in the multiple times he's helped us out he's been extremely respectful of the space and our needs, and a is great communicator. That goes a long way for me. He took the time to understand our issue, clearly present solutions and allow us to make a decision based off of his proposals. He has done a couple small jobs for us. He first rewired our bathroom lighting. While I thought this was as simple as "changing a light fixture" there was a lot more that went into the job. (Drywall, moving other fixtures etc.) This is where the communication comes in. Rather than get a bill for the extra work when he was all done, he was clear at the beginning about what the job would take if I wanted it done right, and for that amount of work, the job was extremely affordable. The other "job" he did, just highlights was a good guy he is. I tried to install smart switches in my living room. How hard can that be right? Well, when you aren't exactly the handiest person in town and the wiring in your house has been done all wrong by the builders it turns out harder than you think. I called Robert and asked for his suggestions. While he was unable to do the job that night, he did one better. He got on Facetime and walked me through step by step of installing them myself. Recently we employed RNT Electric Solutions to do a major Electrical service upgrade on our house. Their bid was the best of 3 we had received and their references were excellent. The work consisted of upgrading our service from 100A to 200A in anticipation of adding Air conditioning and an Electric Vehicle charging outlet. It required trenching, adding a new master turnoff (Meter box) and upgrading the existing panel. Included were running high capacity lines/outlets to where the AC compressor and EV outlets needed to be. While the work was in process we added motion sensing lights, a whole house surge protector , and extra outside outlets. The work was professionally done with all city of Palo Alto inspections passed on first try. The staff was courteous and respectful of out property. Robert kept us informed of the schedule and all next steps. We have recommended him to friends and neighbors and a few have used him with excellent results RNT is now doing a similar service upgrade for our immediate neighbor.
