I went to Roadrunner Lube and Tune twice- once for an emissions test and once for an oil change on another car I had. Dang, these guys really try to upsell you on everything. They were trying to get me to do their oil change. Anything and everything, they were trying so hard to upsell me. I won't be going back. They say they will give you an all-point inspection. "You need your coolant topped off, that's $X." "Oh, you need a filter, that's $X." I came for an emissions test. I'm already paying a lot for that. I don't want to spend more money. I also told them I already had an oil change scheduled for my car the next day. When I bought my car, they gave me six oil changes. They still wanted me to get my oil change with them. I came here for an oil change. I was advised that my tires were bald and I had an alignment issue. They offered to sell me four tires and a discounted alignment plan for around $1000 I opted to get a second opinion. I brought my car to my regular tire shop and they told me my tires are fine and my alignment is only slightly off. Very disappointing. read more

I came in just for a simple inspection which I do most of my own work on my car myself. They said I had a worn gas cap that wasn't sealing which was brand new less then 4 months old and then failed me. So then when they grabbed my car I saw him go and tighten my gas cap before he drove it around which there should be no reason for them to have touched it in the first place . Then tried to sell me a new one and ofc up sell everything else. I took it somewhere else and they said everything was great with evap and emission and I passed. Scummy business. read more

My son took his car in for an oil change. They talked him into doing rear brakes. They ended up charging my son over 500 in labor and 500 in parts. My son ended up paying over 1,000 dollars after going in for a simple oil change. When I called to see how 1 hour of labor cost over 500 dollars, the manager was extremely sarcastic and told me he was happy that he over charged and laughed about it. Extremely unprofessional. I took my car in the next day and 2 hours later they were done installing new pads and rotors and my brakes don't squeak anymore. When I got in my car, I found 2 plastic pieces on the floorboard on the passenger side. I went back in and nobody could tell me what they were or where they had come from. "Must have fallen out of the glove box. Did you purchase this used?" Really??? (It was purchased new, by the way.) Won't be back. I've been going here for several years to get oil changes. They usually offer some other service that I don't need but I always decline. (I can change my own air filters and my car doesn't have the mileage to warrant the other suggestions they say my car needs.) But today was an oil change. My car smelled funny when they brought it out like they'd burned something. (The smell was so strong that when I parked in the garage, the garage started to smell. It stunk!) That bothered me because my car never smells. Check it a little later and the smell was less but oil was leaking. Brought it back. Guy said it wasn't a leak. Oil must have somehow gotten in a place it never has before and when I asked why all of a sudden this happened, he said maybe they didn't change the filter. Then why did I just pay almost $100 for an oil change that should have replaced the filter??? I won't be back. They do not try to up sell you on things you don't need and respect my property as if it was their own. The thing I like most is that they have integrity. I came in with a problem and expected the worst, To my surprise it was a minor adjustment that had to be made and I was on my way. They made a repair on my vehicle and did not do a good job. Just shortly after they repaired my vehicle it is began having more problems. Honesty... It's hard to find mechanic shops that provide this type of Service. I've been going to this location for about 4-5 years and they ALWAYS provided professionalism and worked with me. I hope that this post will help stop a number or people from coming here because this place has been a big waste of money!!! 2 years ago I had them replace the alternator and it failed about 2 months ago. They wouldn't give any discount to replace or fix it so I went to another mechanic. Then my AC compressor went out 2 weeks ago, that I had them replace 13 months prior. They told me that because it was just past the 1 year warranty they couldnt do anything to help me out. They wanted to charge me full price for the part and labor..... Spent around $700 for the alternator, and around $700 for the AC compressor. I will never take another vehicle to them again, not even for a simple oil change. read more

I have been going to Road Runner for several years now but have been trying since Tuesday to get my car inspected. Arrived at 4:55 all three days as that's the soonest I can get there from Plano. Tuesday there were too many people in front of me. Wed the inspector wasn't there and yesterday as I walked up, again at roughly 5 (which is an hour before they close), the inspector informed me he was a leaving at 5. Sad as when the place first opened it was a seriously well run operation. Seems there is a new person in charge every time I've gone lately. I've been coming here for a few years now for oil changes and inspections - they have always treated me well and done a great job at a fair price. Today they went above and beyond! I purchased a -new to me- vehicle less than two weeks ago and all of a sudden, noticed oil leaking from underneath the car. Scared to drive the vehicle any distance, I ran it up to Roadrunner just to have them check it out and top the oil off so I could get to the dealership. Not only did they check out my car from top to bottom, they said it was an easy fix (bolt/gasket issue) and repaired it for me on the spot! They saved me a long and potentially expensive trip to the dealership! They were kind and courteous as always, but the extra attention they showed today was over and above! My daughter had a state inspection done here. They told her that her brake rotors were really bad and she needed new ones, which freaked her out and made her afraid to drive the car. By the way, her car is 2 years old with less than 20,000 miles on it. She had the sense to have the dealership check it out. They confirmed that the rotors were fine. So Roadrunner are either liars or grossly incompetent. How dare they try to take advantage of a kid! I used to use them all the time for inspections and oil changes but will never use them again. If they will lie about this, how can I trust that they are actually replacing the oil and filter? Too many choices out there. read more

Lisa was super nice and informative. I was in the middle of a business call in, their very comfortable waiting room, and she waiting patiently until I was finished to talk with me and ring me up. Stay away from this place. They do not know what they are doing other than screwing up your ride. First they replaced an air compressor for the air conditioning. A month later the air conditioning line blew out all of the freeon. The douches pulled the line out and then ordered the wrong part when they went to replace it. If that was not enough there was a humming noise coming from up front of the vehicle. The douches said it sounded like the tranny was going out. In reality it was the wheel bearings. read more

I know that every mechanic shop is going to try to up-sell. Thats a given. But only a week after I'd bought a new cabin air filter for my wife's car they reported to her that it was dirty and she needed to replace it! Its not a big fix by any means but the point is that they're now lying to try to sell you on more services. Of course, they didn't take out the filter to show my wife. They couldn't because it was bleach clean, snow white! Oh yeah, on her receipt it stated that her car had been vacuumed and windows had been washed and NEITHER job had been attempted! Only 2 stars for our most recent experience. They used to top off all fluids and vacuum the interior with purchase of a full oil change. Wife didn't get washer fluid on Friday and I didn't get a vacuum today. Lots of extra hands just milling about in the shop bays and plenty of other places make sure to do those little things. read more

I had a issue with my brakes and had the car checked out and test drove it. He determined water is what caused the problem with the ABS! They were sooo nice and explained everything thoroughly since I don't know a thing about cars! Im a women and didn't feel walked all over or anything at all! This time I needed an engine oil change change and a oil change of my limited slip rear end in my F150...price quoted was $85 (rear end)..I paid the bill not paying much attention...I get to my truck and glance at the bill...the bill was about $50 more than it should have been. So let me start off by saying that the first guy who did the intake was friendly and nice. Then the owner got involved and it all went down hill. I knew that I needed brakes after a recent oil change. I had just had the front ones done and only needed the back. After shelling out $350 for the fronts I was expecting right around the same amount for the back. The first guy told me that it starts at $149 per axle, then if I need additional parts he would let me know. I got comfortable in their BEAUTIFUL waiting area. (I would not mind being stuck in there for a few hours) After about 10 minutes the owner calls me up (very condescendingly) and tells me that I need new shoes, new rotors and drums... $530 plus tax. He acted like I had no clue about the parts of a brake. I literally laughed in his face. First of all you cannot charge me twice for the same product (rotors and drums) and you must be kidding if I am going to pay for 2 1/2 hours of labor ($250) when it should only take you 1-1.5 hours to complete. I guess yall need help paying for that waiting room. I promise I heard one of the other customers laugh when he tried to explain. I said nope gotta talk to the husband, I got out of there quick. IF he wasn't rude enough before he became a real jerk and said ok so what time are you bringing it back tomorrow, I said I don't know, then he goes 8 o'clock, 10 o'clock, and said fine 10 o'clock (just trying to leave). He wrote it down, said it to me a few more times and to the other service techs, and as I pulled away he goes ok we will see you at 10 o'clock tomorrow. NO HE WILL NOT! I already found another place that did it for $199. They had me out within an hour and a half. Do not go to these guys for convenience. They are super over priced and from what I can tell they are always having new guys. They always have a now hiring sign up. read more
