I had been a loyal Roadrunner customer for about 7-8 years. Unfortunately, for the past three years we have had a recurring roach problem in one part of our kitchen, and I have repeatedly asked Roadrunner to help address it. The problem kept coming back. I don't entirely blame them for that--roaches are notoriously difficult to eliminate. What finally made me leave Roadrunner was not the pest-control issue, but the customer service. Since the treatments they had been using were not resolving the problem, I did some research and called to discuss whether we might try a different approach. In particular, I simply suggested that perhaps they could use bait behind the refrigerator rather than relying primarily on spraying that area, since spraying had not solved the problem. Instead of having a reasonable discussion, the customer service representative became sarcastic and essentially told me that since I apparently knew so much more than they did and was such an "expert," I should take my business elsewhere. I was genuinely taken aback. I wasn't claiming to be an expert--I was a long-time customer trying to discuss another treatment option for a problem that had persisted for years. Well, I took her advice. I canceled Roadrunner and switched exterminators immediately. I can't really say how Roadrunner compares technically with other pest-control companies--Yelp reviews seem to place them somewhere in the middle. But regardless of how good or bad a company may be at pest control, a customer who has been with them for nearly eight years should not be treated with sarcasm and contempt simply for asking whether a different approach might work. read more

I've been a loyal customer of this company for the past five years, using their monthly pest control services as well as hiring them for wood rot repair and termite damage work. Until recently, my experience had always been positive. However, after a new technician was assigned to my property, he informed me that the bait stations were empty and appeared to have been that way for quite some time. He pointed out that the amount of spiderweb buildup inside the stations suggested that bait had not been placed or serviced in a long time. Given this, I requested two things: a two-month credit for services that appear not to have been performed, and photos of the bait stations after each future service visit so I could verify they had been properly maintained. The company offered only a $50 credit (which does not cover the cost of one months service) and said they could not guarantee that photos would be provided. What disappointed me most was the interaction with the office representative. She was dismissive and told me, "I'm not hiring them to take pictures." That response was surprising, especially considering I've been paying for a service that, based on the technician's findings, may not have been performed as expected. I would have expected a greater commitment to accountability and customer service from a company I've trusted for so many years. read more

It's very rare that I write an unfavorable review, but I think that I am unfortunately in a position to because this experience created a lot of stress, and potentially was unsafe. I don't want this to happen to others. We had a roach issue, and this company came out to do a first pass at treating them. The company and I agreed to use gel, because I am hoping for a more gentle approach in terms of poison in our house. The persons I spoke to on the phone, Kelly and Andrea were awesome, pleasant, and great communicators. Samuel that came out to treat the house the first round was great, and he told us in that first visit that we should probably schedule a 2nd treatment, especially given we were using gel, in about 3 weeks. Around 3 weeks later I call to schedule the 2nd treatment, and a gentleman came out a few days later to treat the house. When I came home the whole house smelled very strongly of pesticide, that did not subside for hours. There were dead insects everywhere, including spiders (who knew the critters that exist in ones home until major poison is used!) This treatment was definitely not the same as last time. I was concerned, because I was not asked to collaborate on what the next treatment would be, or that it was decided on without my being informed that an escalation would take place. I was very concerned that there was a new treatment, and I thought there had been a miscommunication or accident, so I called the company to learn more. The owner was asked to call me to help me know what happened, and I waited a day and a half with no call back, all the while not using my kitchen. I called him again because I had not heard from him at the end of the 2nd business day, and he explained that he had decided to escalate the treatment plan, and explained why. I am a very logical person, so trust me when I say that I would have been amenable to an escalation if I had been consulted, and it was warranted, but I am disappointed that I was not. Additionally, I was alarmed to see white streaks of spray in and on my cabinets and drawers, which to my lay person brain looked like at the very least, an over application. I did not see the extent of that until I was off of the phone with the owner, otherwise I would have mentioned it to him. There is also some question in my mind about where these poisons were sprayed, I thought it was supposed to be in cracks and crevices, not broadcast sprayed in drawers and cabinet where food is prepared and stored. The agents were Temprid FX and Gentrol IGR. I am disappointed with the lack of coordination of information for the people living in the house, at the lack of accountability for this, at the seemingly careless and potentially incorrect application of poison in our kitchen. My feedback for the owner is that you have great office employees (hence 2 stars and not 1) but the communication with residents, and application of your products can use some tightening up. Also, if an error is made, no worries, we can figure it out, but not admitting that your crew may have done something incorrect is not good for trust building. I acknowledge that you offered to have your crew come and clean it up, but I do not want to interact any further with your company because I have trust issues now, due to the lack of accountability, so I will be remediating this wayward spray myself. I sincerely wish you the best on improving on those areas, you do have some good stuff to work with, ie your support staff. read more

If you want damaged property, then call Roadrunner Exterminating..... Had my newly purchased home fumigated by Roadrunner, who sub out most of the work they perform. 100% sub out of all fumigation as far as I know. Their subcontractors arrived and began work without any supervision from Roadrunner, who would be the responsible General Contractor in this case. I watched in disbelief as equipment and tooling was THROWN on my tile roof. Heavy rolls of fumigation tarps tossed onto tiles without any care at all. Beautifully manicured flowerbeds trampled as if they were not even there. Rain gutters dented as they carelessly tossed ladders up against the roofline. Landscaping that wasn't even in the fumigation zone destroyed because of their lack of care for the property they were working on. Roadrunner requires a broken tile waiver to be signed, but there wasn't even an ATTEMPT to be careful/cautious with the property by the workers on site. It was as if the waiver gave them a free-for-all to trash the place. I brought up the issue with the subcontractor's apparent foreman on site (I'm not quite sure if he was the foreman but he was the only one who spoke English) but at that point it was too late. I brought up the issue with Andrea and Sue Heinkel, and although nice, they offered no solution. The owner, Scott Heinkel, to this point has been completely non-responsive. The end result was numerous broken roof tiles (which we did not know at the time because of the height of our 2nd story roof), more dead mature landscaping than what was normal, crushed flowerbeds, etc. AND THERE IS MORE.... after the first rain, literally 3 months after Roadrunners service and our move in date, we had a major roof leak which has caused our newly renovated grand entry way ceiling to separate from the joists and an entire interior wall down to a 1st floor bathroom to have water damage. I have already had to file a claim for the roof repair, and have completed the roof repair just in time as it is going to rain again this week, and am in the process of putting together a claim for the interior damage. Roadrunner has not been helpful since I first reported the incident (literally the day they began fumigation) and instead only threatened me with collections and/or small claims court. I am dealing with tens of thousands of dollars' worth of damages vs their fumigation price of $4900. She went above and beyond --- and the service fee includes much more than I thought it would! I also have very high praise for TODD, who came to assess a different pest situation which is covered by my my HOA. We used Roadrunner for tenting our house. They came when they said and left the place clean. They were polite and worked within time frame . The problem was all the broken tiles on the roof. Yes we knew there would be SOME. Breakage, but not as much as there was. Then we discovered the tiles on our roof are no longer in stock. They could not fix it since it would need moving tiles around, not just SLIPPING tiles into place. Who knew? We tried to use the person they recommended but he never answered back. After several attempts we finally go a roofer to fix the damage, 60 tiles later..... Their termination is good but VERY HEAVY feet. read more

The service is effective, the techs are very efficient BUT, the office scheduling is not client friendly at all, especially Kelly. When I objected to getting a call the night before to tell me they were coming the next day I was told "that is the way we do it". My friend referred Roadrunner, as he used them to check out and fumigate a house he bought in Hermosa Beach. He recommended them highly for the house I am in escrow on in central LA. Jennifer works in the office and is super helpful and accommodating at scheduling. I specifically asked that Todd inspect the house based on my friend's recommendation and she moved his schedule around so he could come sooner. Todd was super comprehensive and professional. I got my report very promptly, including after a re-inspection (the crawl space was initially inaccessible), and Todd also took the time to walk me through his findings both on site and also on the phone. I called Roadrunner to come out and check if my suspicion that I had rats in my attic was true. Ken came out the very next day for a very reasonable fee. He was extrememly thorough in investigating every nook and cranny of my hard to maneuver attic. He offerred great advice from a wealth of knowledge. He said all the rat droppings in my attic were very old and the powder that had been put down was good to help keep them out. so no additional fees or actions. My wife and I bought our house in spring of 2019.  As time passed, we kept hearing critters in the ceiling above our kitchen area. We called out Road Runner to remedy the issue. They identified that it was rats and patched up areas where they determined rats were entering the home. They were very nice and we had them out to spray for insects as well. The rat issue did not go away however. We had Road Runner out several times to figure it out, but they kept insisting that everything was patched and there was no way rats could get in the home. Now, it's January, 2021 and we are still having this issue. Who knows the level of infestation and potential damage to the home at this point? We had someone else come out from a different company and she immediately identified multiple areas where rats were entering and exiting our home. It's something that should have been painfully obvious to someone who does this for a living. I would like to share with you who this other company was, but don't want Yelp to flag this comment for advertising (we will instead leave a glowing review on their Yelp page). My wife called Road Runner asking for a refund for this work.  It wasn't personal; we liked everyone we had spoken with thus far.  In fact, one of the guys came on his own time and squeezed us in between visits to try and help us. They had been friendly. But they didn't fulfill their end of the deal (and who knows what infestation/damage had been done as a result), so asking for a refund is very reasonable. The secretary told my wife that Scott, the owner, would call her back...and this is why we are writing this review.  Scott did call back. What a horrifying individual. He kept talking over my wife, talking down to my wife, and basically trying to twist it and make it seem like we were the problem.  He also acted like it was a big deal that she was getting a call from him, like he's some sort of rock star.  I'm proud of my wife for not taking his nonsense. But he left us no choice. We want to let you know that there is NOTHING special about Road Runner. Other companies can do as well or, as in our case, much better.  And there is certainly nothing special about this guy, Scott. Please do your due diligence before selecting a service. We used these guys to inspect the house we bought in August. They recommended fumigation and wood repair. I asked them to do the fumigation. The repairs were done by a painting company separately. We are relocating so we had to sell our house again (nine months later) so I hired these guys to do a clearance report for the fumigation they did before and for the repairs to the areas they found on the first inspection that I had the painters repaired. Guess what? They claimed they found more dry rot in other areas!!!! I asked the guy why it was not on the first report on your first inspection, you found more dry rot!!!!! I was so mad!!! He's reply: "You should've told me this had a previous inspection." I said that is what I told the person that I ordered the inspection from. He said he will talk to the people at the office. When they sent me the report they asked for $2600 more in repairs!!! Now I'm questioning if they really found termites on the first report! Was the fumigation just a scam??? You never really know if they are telling the truth. The sad part is you have no choice but to use them. read more

This review is to help educate customers who use Roadrunner since our home was burglarized during the fumigation process. Roadrunner uses the proper "security" methods to protect your home but at the bare minimum. Until we were burglarized we were unaware of burglary and fumigation being a "trend" until the police officers explained this as well as the companies supervisor. Be warned, burglary is now common these days with fumigation (tenting) of homes. Also, we were not aware Roadrunner was going to keep all our windows open 3" for "ventilation" then keeping the window from opening any further, with metal clamps. This does not stop burglars! My opinion, there are plenty of better options found at your local home depot to secure windows but was told there is no interest in changing the way they currently secure homes since this is only the second burglary in 6 years. If they get enough burglary's maybe they will change their methods. Yes, we were naïve to trust our things would be safe in our home, with the company. This is our mistake and we've learned a valuable lesson. Honestly, if we had known the windows would be open we would have taken more of our belongings. I'm hoping this review helps at least one person think about the process of fumigation with Road Runner. I'm sure other companies have similar practice so be warned. Burglary is certainly possible! We don't live in a nicer city in OC, but all the more reason for a company to take a little responsibility to secure homes. Jennifer in the office is extremely nice and helpful. I don't have a bad thing to say about the company itself. They sent us a detailed plan to plan the days prior to fumigation; just not completely at the level I'd expect if burglary was a trend in my industry. Take everything with you prior to the day of fumigation. This includes laptops, cameras, jewelry (all of it), etc.. Don't trust your belongings will be safe! read more

We have had ants in our kitchen on a cyclical basis every season change. They would come out of our counter and we had a couple other exterminators spray, but the ants always returned. It wasn't until we hired Roadrunner that they found the nest - IN A TREE! I had no idea ants made nests in trees, but the exterminator explained everything to me and showed me their path up into the tree before doing his work. He not only removed the nest, but sprayed in all the entry points as well as extended to some of our neighbor's exteriors to keep them away from the area. It's been almost 6 months and 2 season changes and no ants. Even if they come back, I will have found this to be a huge burden lifted and I'll call Roadrunner again! read more

Refi-ing our house and need a termite inspection. Set it up with Roadrunner. They showed up 5 minutes early, did the inspection and showed us the problems areas. I had the report the next day and the bid. I scheduled the work to be done. Again, 5 minutes before the scheduled time, the workers are sitting in front of the house. Got all the work done that day, from treating wood to tearing out and replacing fascia. All 3 workers were very courteous and they cleaned up so well after they were done. The next day I had my report that all problems areas were treated/resolved so I could send it to my lender. It was amazing, they did what they said they were going to do, at the time they told me they were going to do it, and cleaned up like no one was there. Outstanding job Roadrunner! read more

I hired Roadrunner Exterminating to inspect my house for termites and other vermin. Fortunately, not too bad. They provided treatment for some affected areas. But after 25 years, there was some dry rot and minor termite damage to some of the wood structures to the house. They were also able to provide the service of replacing or reconstructing some of the damage. They replaced a wood deck with new, synthetic material, a patio cover post, a new exterior door to the garage and wood trim around the house. With some of the repairs, I wasn't sure who to contact, so am grateful that Roadrunner Exterminating offers both services. The job took 4 days. The crews were there every day, on time and worked all day. Awesome! They cleaned up each day, were pleasant and worked hard. Couldn't be more pleased. A BIG Thank you! read more
