Randomly drove past the road runner grill one day and I was so excited to see a location in Shasta lake! There aren't many food options North of Redding, especially estsblishments that offer more fresh fare on the go so the road runner grill is a perfect addition to the area. The building is small but there's plenty of seating. Friendly service, you order at the counter and seat yourself. Food is prepared fresh and fast. Some of my favorite tacos - chipotle chicken & mango, Chile lime steak, raspberry steak, calamari. My favorite wraps are the Mario and chicken bacon avocado. It's right off I-5 so this would be a good place to stop if you want fresh food fast. read more

Good tacos for the most part. The chicken BBQ was good but the chicken was overcooked and tough. The shrimp taco was good as was the calamari taco. All the tacos seem to be served with the same shredded lettuce and Cotija cheese. Hard to tell which was which. Downside, poor service, dirty tables, no napkins or silverware and my food to eat in the restaurant was served in to-go boxes For the prices you need actual plates. read more

Way too expensive for each taco, tacos are not even that big and not filling at all. They need to have a taco special with rice and beans for a decent price because $6-7 for 1 taco is ridiculous especially when you want like 3-5 to get full. That's probably why there's never any customers to dang expensive unfortunately but good tacos though. read more

Stopped in again last night (Thursday) to pick up our to go order. Wife loves the lime steak tacos and I'm a sucker for the onion rings (ordered) and deep fried mushrooms (probably again next time). We were not disappointed. Business was quite slow at 7:00 PM (an hour before closing) so I'd recommend if you're looking for a bit of a later dinner, give them a call or stop by and have your pick of the seating. Love this place! It's the true definition of a hidden gem. So far have only had various tacos, because the options are amazing. You won't find tacos like this anywhere else! I've heard great things about the salads and wraps, just personally haven't had them yet. The dining room is small, but takeout is always an option if it's full there. They say they are open every day from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, but when I went there at 3:00 PM today they were closed.

I love tacos, so far all the ones I've tried are delicious. My favorite is the Buffalo Chicken Blue, nice chunks of blue cheese. Spicy but not too hot! These are not your regular tiny street tacos, they are a bit bigger and stuffed well. read more

This business has consistently gone downhill since their move from Cottonwood. Had the Aloha Bowl today. To say the chicken was old is understated. It was dry and hard like it had sat in the fridge uncovered for a week. It was brought to our table with no utensils and the server disappeared. I looked everywhere for forks, to no avail. I finally asked the guy cooking, he told me he was trying to cook and sent me to the same empty jars I'd already tried. Both the service and food quality are sadly declining. Fryer was down today. Counters were cluttered and unclean. Workers were absent for long periods. So sad that a spot that was consistently good has become consistently bad. read more

We stopped in here for a late lunch on our way to Ashland, Oregon. What a rustic, inviting place. We were greeted by 2 fellows who were so friendly. We ordered at the counter & our food was brought to our booth. But 1st, we were served homemade chips & salsa. So delicious. Hubby had a steak taco which he devoured. Said the meat was tender & the flavors really good. I had the best fish & chips! No grease, fresh tasting & crisp on the outside. We met the owner(s), such nice people. These tacos were delicious! I love the casual ambiance of this little place. I had the Aloha Taco with pork. The pork was very tender and the flavor was wonderful. I also had the Fajita Taco with chicken. The chicken was nice and tender, and the flavor was just perfect. The tacos were large enough that you could barely hold them because they were stuffed full. The ambiance was awful. The young man that everyone complains about is right on the money. He absolutely does not want to be there. The food is mediocre to say the least. It's not cooked with seasoning and salt is dumped on it before they bring it out to your table in to go containers. If you want anything extra like a lime wedge you have to ask for it. The cilantro and butter rice is absolutely flavorless. The owner said she makes it bland so the customer can dress it up themselves with lime, corn or whatever you would like but that is not told to the customer. I didn't know I was supposed to cook my own food. I left a review on three different review pages on Facebook then received threatening messages from the owner as well as the owners daughter. I left an honest review of my experience and even stated that I would give it another chance, but after the messages I received I will definitely not be going back. The owner has lost two restaurants due to nonpayment of rent and was even ordered to pay $37k to one of her landlords. You can find that Record Searchlight article online. My husband and I went here yesterday. Great place! The most delicious, creative tacos we've ever had! Surprising flavor fusions. I had the cod and mango taco and the steak with raspberry taco. The taco shells are browned to crisp perfection. The pico de gallo, napa cabbage, feta cheese and their delicious sauces all marry harmoniously. Roadrunner Grill is not what we expected. We were expecting a BBQ place because of the previous company that filled the building. Super great food with a Mex/hearty offerings. Did I say the Cheesy Garlic Fries are to die for? Fried Zucchini and Mushrooms are the bomb. Fish N Chips ooooh so good. Let's not forget the Tacos. Stopped here on our way home and glad we did! They have a different kind of menu so we weren't sure if we were gonna like it but wow, delicious. I got a steak burrito which was like a yummy warm steak wrap, it was more light and refreshing than a traditional burrito. My husband told them to surprise him and they gave him a Mario wrap which had mango and chicken on a spinach wrap. We also ordered fried zucchini while we waited. They gave us complementary chips and salsa, which were even better than some you get at a traditional Mexican restaurant. I even put the salsa in my burrito. My husband loved his wrap too. The portions are huge. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They even have a big bin of candy for people when they walk in. I wish this place was closer. We would definitely come again. I forgot to get pictures before we ate but these show what was left when we were done so we can enjoy it later when we finally get home. read more
