    Good people.

This place is a hidden Mexican food gem!! Super nice hard working family making amazing authentic Mexican food. Beer & chilled mugs. Do not be shy to go onto the Chevron station to access this top notch restaurant.

Very authentic food that is tasty as well as presented nicely on the plate. Al pastor is delicious Quality beans and rice The owner's children help out with serving, and I find that to be a huge bonus as it teaches them good work ethics Chips and salsa were OK, not great. I'll be returning with friends and family again!

The not so great enchiladas :(

Hahaha, who goes to this place after coming back from Mexico? We do! Haha. A group that I was with were on a search for some food on our drive back from Mexico and one of the leaders, who is Mexican, was craving Mexican. Hahaha, keep in mind, literally, we were in Mexico less than 20 hours before. Anyway, we pull into this gas station-slash-restaurant. It was SO hot coming in. But we enter through the gas station, and I laugh at this. Is this really a restaurant/gas station? Wait, or was it a corner store? I forget. But unfortunately, the food isn't the best here. We were nicely seated and got a few menus and enough time to order. After pensive thinking, I decide to get enchiladas (chicken) for their lunch special which comes with rice and beans. We all order, and they also give us free chips and salsa as we wait. I ordered a jamaica drink (it's like a flower juice). It is alright. I would rate it a 4/5. Few minutes later, we get our food. Keep in mind, I have made authentic Mexican food, have been to Mexico twice, and am aware of the culture (and continually learning the Hispanic culture and food). I get the enchiladas, and am not really impressed. It looks okay, but the taste is worse. I cut into it, and the tortilla used tastes like it was microwaved with the food. The food is not prepped the way enchiladas are made in the oven (baked) with sauce. The tortillas were sort of hard, like in a soggy way. I didn't like it, so i took it off and just ate the meat (filling) with the rice. The rice and beans weren't too bad. They were edible enough. So I settled for that. (Oh, and my dish + drink was about $9). My friends got a burrito. Not sure which one, but one friend had a nasty burrito and the other friend had a great tasting burrito. I wish I knew which one was the good one. Ehhh. My other friend ordered the safe, chicken tenders and fries. That was good, haha. Tasted like any other joint. Overall, great service, nice folks, but not the greatest food. I would never come here again. Sorry!

Nice little hidden stop in the Chevron station. Beats having to go all the way in to redding. Food is good, service was quick.

Whenever I'm visiting Redding, I always like to try new places, especially searching for solid Mexican food (which isn't an easy task in such a small town). People who know me, know that I love beans - refried especially. My grandmother and father made amazing refried beans. Living in Los Angeles, there's a diverse number of places that really deliver the flavor. I digress. So, I stop at Hermanos today and ordered a bean and cheese burrito and a chorizo soft taco. The guys working there were friendly and after explaining to them that I'm visiting from Southern California and my affinity for beans (I'm a nerd, what can I say lol), they gave me a taste of their shredded beef birria. It was amazing. Melted in my mouth. So, A+ there. To the headliners... Bean and cheese burrito. The tortilla was homemade tasting/feeling (didn't appear to be store bought like some of the other places I've tried here). On a scale of 1-10, I give the beans a 7. They were better than average and better than good. Chorizo soft taco. Pretty simple taco. Soft flour tortilla, lettuce, pico de gallo, shredded cheese, and chorizo. The chorizo was cooked perfectly (That isn't a passing comment either. Chorizo can be easily under or overcooked). Great flavor. Tasted fresh. They gave me green and red salsa. Both were really tasty and enjoyable. I think I have found my new favorite Mexican spot in Redding. The true test will be their chili relleno and pozole. I will definitely be back.

I got asada, but added two eggs and guacamole in the burrito, with cilantro and onions for added crispness and flavor. I asked for the tortilla to be crispy on the outside, but wish the fries were crispier. It was $15 for everything, which is a damn good deal, considering the size of the burrito. I'm not sure about the price of a regular Cali burrito, but what I ordered was $15. She even skipped the tip portion (I tipped in cash instead).

Really good food but basically just warmed up at the restaurant and prepared elsewhere. I wonder who the actual food preparation is done by?? There are a few things removed from the menu Perhaps not easily just warmed up and hard to maintain quality This place was called Chuys about 2 1/2 years ago. The rumors are that there were some legal issues and he left and the new owners took over not long after that. Not much improvement aesthetically and hasn't changed in two years or more. Restaurants us clean and presentable. There are many places you can go in Redding and get the same quality or better and pay a lot less.
