For a food trailer in the middle of nowhere Ridgecrest it was the best. (Poker Dog) the poker dog is a fusion of buffalo wings and a dog!!!

My husband and I love coming here every time we see the truck! The amazing lady making the hot dogs is so nice and helpful and the hot dogs are amazing! Splurge a little and get the pretzel buns! We've tried six different items on the menu and everything has been great we definitely recommend trying it

The wife and I were customers when they started parking across from the firehouse at Leroy Jackson. They have since moved to a new semi-permanent location. Make sure to check their site if they are not there for some reason. The amazing owners of this business are very friendly people and go out of their way to please. Their cheerfulness and hospitality always put a smile on our faces. Roaming Dog creates great hot dogs and sausages in many formats. The favorite was the 1/4 lb all beef in the pretzel bun with peanut butter and bacon. The peanut butter dog is a surprising combination that have a lot of people raising their nose, but when they eventually break down to try it they are glad they did. I don't see this on the menu anymore so this one may be by special request. Another great dog is the Junkyard Dog.. a polish sausage topped with hausmade chili, sauerkraut, pepper jack cheese, onions, jalapeños and Fritos on a French roll. The dogs are made fresh to order and made fast. The buns always taste fresh. But wait.. there's more! They also make potato salad, coleslaw, cookies(special occasions), Pretzel Bites (Fridays), and have canned sodas and bags of chips to go with the dogs. Make it a combo. You will love these dogs and their daily specials. The Roaming dog sets up a little dining area near the food truck. Plastic chairs and tables are provided for a place to sit and enjoy their incredible dogs. If you don't have time or the weather happens to be bad then you can just ask for the order to go and take it to your lair to eat your dogs in secret. Ask for the napkins and forks in case you decide to get freaky with a chili dog... you never know. Mess happens. The price is fair for the amount and quality of food you are getting. You will find the food and price comparable to other food trucks in the big city. There is plenty of free parking near the food truck. You should have plenty of room to park a tractor-trailer in a nearby parking lot and walk over. If you like hot dogs.. you will love Roaming Dog. We haven't been able to visit since we went plant-based but maybe someday they will have the beyond sausage with a vegan bun and dressed up in a fancy manner like they work their magic on all their other dogs. Message us if you do! We will start showing up at the food truck again. We need more food trucks and business owners like this in Ridgecrest. Highly recommended and deserve more than 5 stars.

My picky eaters loved the dogs. My youngest called it, "a hotdog bun on a dream." All beef, very filling and a great variety. Price is affordable and I like the picnic tables and trash cans next to it. The chili was "just right." A very nice compliment to the brat n pepper my husband was eating. The food was eaten too quickly to take a picture.

Really great fresh food for a food truck. The buns tasted freshly baked and had that lovely yeasty smell. I had the Frito dog. I really appreciated that it was well balanced in how they put it together. I like being able to pick up and eat my hot dog. So there was the right amount of chili, cheese, and onions. There were plenty of Fritos as well. Hubby got the Big Dog. He loved the sausage and sauerkraut. His only wish was that they'd used some yellow mustard which he thinks works better with sauerkraut. He'll know for next time. The cole slaw is fresh and delicious. I assume it's a mayonnaise base and has a lovely tang to it. The celery seed was a nice note and not overpowering. The people in the Roaming Dog were friendly and helpful. Our food was prepared quickly. We did takeout as we wanted to splat in our hotel room. They put in napkins and forks which we were very grateful for. We'll be looking for Roaming Dog Kitchen the next time we're in town.

The diner was definitely better than I expected and we will return! The Pancakes were really good,…read moreand was the Veggie omelet. However, the Homemade Cinnamon Roll was just okay. The gentleman who took our orders was nice and very patient! The ambiance was nothing special-typical diner. The toilets could use good cleaning, too, but the bathrooms were generally okay. We stopped here on our way to Mammoth from San Diego, and we would return!

I had the Country Benedict, which is a sausage patty and an egg on top of a biscuit and covered with gravy, served with hash browns. The egg was over easy, and the yolk, when broken, blended deliciously with the gravy. The hash browns were crisp and fresh - very good. The biscuit was buttered, which was a pleasant surprise. They pay attention to small details like that here. Mr. P enjoyed his burger, which came with fresh onions, tomato and lettuce on a specialty bun. The burger was smashed, yet very juicy. His fries were golden brown crisp and cut thick. He liked them a lot. This was easily the best diner breakfast I've had in a long while. Looking forward to stopping in again when I'm nearby in the future. I am full and happy.

If you avoid fried food you need to know that Ale's hand breads their Seafood. This means you can order yours GRILLED! My favorites are grilled catfish and scallops with lemon pepper. Their coleslaw is delicious so I get double and skip the fries. We frequently go to the Central Coast and even there Ale's Seafood in Ridgecrest is often better! The decor is super fun and reggae music is a beach lover's choice. The servers are great here, so friendly and careful to get it your way. Ridgecrest, treat yourself more often at Ale's Crab House and your body will thank you!

We ate here and at Ale's steakhouse across town and they are very similar to me in terms of value,…read morethough they do differ. First, the good. It's nice that there is a restaurant in town with fresh fish. Our server was awesome. We were going to a tiki themed place (which you should 100% try to find if you are in town) afterwards and the server shared some cool info about it when we mentioned it. I ordered fish and chips, against my better judgement, and it was just OK. I'm a fan of beer batter that builds up more than a thin crust on the fish, and this wasn't that. On top of that, the cod was a little over cooked (a bit of a theme for the other Ale's as well). That said, the flavor profile was good and their tartar sauce was on point. I had the option for seasoned fries or steak fries and opted for the steak fries to save some sodium intake. I'd probably shorten my life slightly and get the seasoned fries next time. My wife had a salad that was very similar to the other Ale's -- lots of iceberg lettuce and overcooked chicken. We also had the clam chowder, which had a good consistency but was just a touch fishy. I still enjoyed it, though. They have a pretty good selection of beer and other drinks, as well. The decor is informal and overall I liked the place. Between the two Ale's I'd probably give a slight nod to the original, but they are very similar restaurants other than the focus on seafood here.
