    Miso soup
    Sabrina A.

Went here to get some Chinese food/ Japanese food. They have both. I opt to order a Bento box and it came with miso soup. In my opinion the soup was a little too salty. My bf ordered the chow mein and potstickers. The chow main was ok but I'm not really a chow mein type of girl. Potstickers lets just say we had better. My Bento box had salmon And tempura with shrimp. Salmon was a little dry for my liking and tempura was just ok. The restaurant is very old and to me it needs a little upgrade. The service was great it made up for the food. The lady's and guy man that help us had great customer service. Keep it up!

Very solid Asian bistro. Thai chicken lettuce wraps was fire very crispy fresh lettuce. Mongolian beef had enough of that wok charr, and fairly decent House fried rice. Maybe due to me having a loss of appetite, I'm having difficulty really savoring everything having been fighting heat stroke and some kind of stomach flu. I'd have to come back here again next time I'm dispatched to Oakley's Amazon. Top service. Every server here is attentive to your needs.

The service is consistently excellent, and the restaurant is always well-staffed. Food is always reliable. Highly recommend!

The staff was super friendly! We ordered the butterfly shrimp, 4. Thai's Chicken Lettuce Wraps, 26. Super Dragon, and 4. 18. Szechuan Style Crispy Chicken. The Lettuce Wraps were our favorite, the Szechuan Chicken was a little soggy/not crispy but flavor was good. They have fortune cookies at the end and are very reasonably priced.

Went there for dinner on Wednesday. Fast and friendly service with excellent food as usual. We ordered our favorites: Salt & Pepper Shrimp, Singaporean Street Noodles, Spicy Crispy Hunan Fish Fillet and Szechuan String Beans. The restaurant was nice and quiet until two large parties came in with children. It got loud, but we were at the end of our meal.

Very very tasty! We enjoyed the pork bao, wonton soup, wor wonton soup, and sesame chicken. Both the regular wonton soup and wor wonton soup were excellent, with quality broth and the wontons themselves were clearly freshly made. The sesame chicken hit all the right notes as well. We found the white sticky rice to be decent. Everything in our delivery order arrived hot and well-packaged. Portions were good and pricing was reasonable for the quality. Based on food alone, this would easily be a regular rotation spot for us on those cold, sicky days when you just need a hot soup. My only hesitation in giving full marks is seeing a hand washing violation on their recent health inspection. While the food quality suggests they take pride in their cooking, basic food safety is non-negotiable. I'm hoping this was an isolated incident that's been addressed! We'll keep an eye on that and definitely consider coming back for more brothy goodness.

The service here is super sweet and very tentative. They have 2 menus; a choice for Chinese and another for Japanese food. No lie, it was A LOT to look at but we order from both menus - LOL! The plate setting is super cute. Beef and green beans - 9/10 I think its a black bean sauce and it was MY favorite out of what we ordered. The green beans were cooked but also still had crunch to it and I literally ate all the beans and left the meat for my husband. Vegetable fried rice - 9/10 They actually used real veggies along with the regular veggies they have in any fried rice. It was really cool to see other veggies in it. Crab ragoon - 9/10 Hubby loved it, but I wish it was pipping hot because I just love my food hot as hell. Sun kitchen special roll - 10/10 we both loved it and would go back to get more off of the Japanese menu. Overall, we really enjoyed it. A lot of people come here for dinner and it got super packed later on as the sun was setting. A lot of regulars as well and the service here is super family orientated with their regulars.

The food was soooo good. I really like the place. The salt and pepper fish, chow mein, and fried rice were highlights for me. I also did enjoy the kung pao chicken. The staff was exceptional. They served us very quickly, kept our waters filled, and brought all of our food with 10-15 min of ordering. The restaurant is in a nice plaza with a lot of other shop. I think it's a great option for Chinese or Japanese food. The menu has everything you can think of and they do it all very well!

Top: The Fairview Roll. Our favorite. Bottom: The Rainbow. Delicious!

The wife and I were in the mood for sushi so we decided to pay Sun Kitchen Asian Bistro a visit. The restaurant was clean with nice decor. We were greeted immediately and seated. Our waitress suggested an appetizer, the Heart Attack. It was spicy and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend it. We ordered the Rainbow, the Fairview Roll, and the the Sun + Moon Roll. We both loved the Fairview Roll, but they were all delicious. The menu is large, with plenty of other things to order besides sushi if sushi is not your thing. Great food, great staff, overall a great experience.

Great service, food was amazing! Hot & sour soup was perfect on a chilly night like last night! Big portion. Ambiance was super choll and very friendly!

The best Japanese/Chinese combo restaurant in the area. The house chow mein and the pork fried rice is the family favorite with the honey walnut prongs, crispy beef and salt, pepper pork is a must have. Ask for Tony he's a cool guy that welcomes all with a very friendly staff. My family and I are regulars for the music and sometimes a game on the big screen. Check it out if you're feeling like sushi or Chinese food you won't be disappointed.

Unfortunately, my most recent experience completely changed my opinion. I ordered a roll for my daughter with no avocado and added cucumber. When we got home, the roll only had crab inside. There was no cucumber at all. I called and simply asked for a refund, but I was told the chef insisted the cucumber was in the roll, so they refused. Instead, they told me to drive back so they could remake it. After driving another 20 minutes back (40 minutes of driving total), the employee inspected the roll herself and immediately saw that there was, in fact, no cucumber. So the issue I reported from the beginning was real. What disappointed me most wasn't the mistake. Mistakes happen. It was being treated like my word wasn't trustworthy after years of supporting this business. Rather than believing a loyal customer or offering a simple refund, I had to waste my time and gas proving that the order was incorrect. It makes me wonder if one roll was really worth losing a long-time customer. Customer service is about how you handle mistakes, and unfortunately this experience left me feeling undervalued. I hope management reconsiders how situations like this are handled in the future.

I came here yesterday during opening and there was already a long line of people waiting for their orders. I think they can hire a few more people to speed things up in the back kitchen. I ordered their roast pork belly with rice which was really good. Expect that traditional 5-spice flavor that's mainly used in Chinese roast pork. They give a generous amount too which is nice. I also enjoyed the ginger sauce it came with. I thought this paired better than the black sweet sauce they provide. Typically I like my pork belly thoroughly cooked but this is a different style and I still enjoyed it. It's worth $15! I want to come back to try their duck next!

Reasonably price. Honestly, the pork belly is the star and could be the best I've had in a long time considering I still live and grew up in Oakland. At other chinese bbq spots the skin to me is usually very crunchy and chewy. But Roast Eatery pork belly skin is so light and crispy, that after a few bites the tender meat and fat slowly melts in your mouth making it very enjoyable. The sweet sauce with the pork belly is new to me. it's interesting but i prefer eating it with the ginger scallion because it helps cut the richness from the pork belly. The Haianese Chicken is exceptional. Cooked perfectly to tendernism. Anyone new to chinese bbq and wondering why the chopped chicken bone is still red or pink, that's called myoglobin so don't worry it's already cooked and means that it's perfectly gently poached. Of course, always take caution, ask questions and do a little research. If you're afraid, just eat around it, but this will probably be the best and healthiest way to eat chicken if you're on a diet. Roast Duck was flavorful, tender and nicely roasted. Definitely your go to local spot if you're in the East County (Oakley, Brentwood, or Antioch). It's also on par with local favorite spots in Oakland Chinatown like Gold Medal. Service is very straight forward and quick to order. The staff are friendly. Got our order in less than 10 minutes. Overall, I will be coming here more frequently for my chinese bbq fix and quick healthy lunch. They also own the dim sum bakery next door and it's definitely a hit too!

There is a great selection of food, and everything was well organized and easy to navigate. The dessert section is pretty typical of most Chinese and Asian buffets, with the usual cakes, cookies, fruit, and pudding options. One area that could use improvement is the self-serve ice cream station. The flavors tend to mix together, and it doesn't look very appealing. A soft-serve machine would be a great addition and would really elevate the dessert experience. The staff working the dining area were attentive and did a good job clearing plates and checking on guests. The front staff, however, could be a bit more customer-service focused. They seemed very focused on moving the line and managing the crowd rather than creating a welcoming first impression. That said, we were seated fairly quickly, even during a busy time.
