Steamed pork bun (NOT the baked one as mentioned above)
    April M.

The quality of the dim sum and the freshness is absolutely fantastic! One teeny tiny flaw is that sometimes they don't have egg tarts at all (my boyfriend and I get there at opening) which is a big let down since I travel from the Central Valley to Brentwood just for the highlight (egg tarts) lol. For those that are new, here's a couple of tips: 1) get there early! This place is very 'quality over quantity' so a couple of choices WILL RUN OUT QUICK, 2) when you arrive, it is NOT a typical line-order, you need to grab a paper and pen and check what you want and how many, 3) don't be afraid to mix it up, grab a little sweet and savory, it's all amazing 4) BE CAUTIOUS, though the prices are nice, they add up quickly! Especially since they taste so good lol. A couple of stand-outs for me and my boyfriend are the egg tarts and pork baked dumplings. Parking is always abundant, and the employees there are always friendly, the place is small built for to-go orders and the ambiance is always very nice and welcoming inside.

This is a to-go dim sum shop! It is a smaller shop in which when you walk in, there is a table where you can pick up a menu and mark off your order, so that you can hand it off to them to fulfill. They put our order pretty quickly together. Service was very friendly. The shop was clean. They do seem to be a pretty popular place, as several other parties came in after us. We ordered their quail egg shu mai, egg tart, matcha lava bun, baked bbq bun, and HK milk tea. Quail egg shu mai: Pretty standard with the extra quail egg on the bottom. It's exactly what you would expect, but this is one of their unique dishes, so I would probably recommend this at the very least. Egg tart was pretty standard. The matcha lava bun was fun. The bun itself was pretty soft and the lava was runny as expected. I kind of wished there was maybe less of the bun. I did not have the baked bbq bun, but was told it was good. Overall, I would probably come back for the quail egg shu mai because it's unique!

Best dim sum spot in the area, hands down. I've been here more times than I can count, and I'm honestly so happy to see them expand. They bought the spot next door and opened another space, and I swear the kitchens have to be connected, haha. At the time, you can view the menu for next door, but you cannot place an order with this spot. If you'd like to order for next door, it is recommended to go next door to order. Please be mindful. This is the only local dim sum place I really go to because it's close to home and consistently good. If they're closed or sold out, then I'm probably not getting dim sum that day because my next option is all the way in Livermore. I actually really like their setup. It's not the traditional sit down dim sum experience with carts going around, but the way they handle orders and move people through is super efficient. Even when it's busy, everything feels organized and quick!! Reminder, YES it can get busy fast!! One thing I really appreciate is how patient and welcoming they are, especially if you're newer to dim sum. They'll explain dishes without making you feel awkward or judged for not knowing what something is. You can tell the staff genuinely care about the food and take pride in what they do. If they're out of a new batch and making a new one, they're quick to inform you of the wait time. A few dim sum dishes are made to order, so again please be mindful, and they will also let you know. The food itself is honestly a 100/10 for me. I've never had a bad experience here. The drinks I've tried have all been really good too. They also sell their chili oil in store, which is a nice bonus if you want to take a bit of the flavor home. It's not spicy and it's not the same chili oil like you'd use with seasoning your pho. This is more of a dipping sauce and it's savory. One thing I'm not totally sure about, for the amount of time I've been in, is whether they have a system for returning a used, clean jar if you bring it back and receive a discount or percentage off the next chili oil jar. Please ask! Price wise, it's pretty standard for dim sum. It can add up fast if you order a lot. I remember our first visit was easily over $100 because we wanted to try everything. Now when it's just two of us, we usually spend around $50-$100 depending on how hungry we are. What I do like is that the portions don't feel skimpy. Some dim sum places charge a lot for tiny portions, but here the sizing feels worth the price especially for a small dim sum joint.

Surprised to find a takeaway only dim sum place in Brentwood, but perfect for those like me that want good dim sum and not have to deal excessively with other people. Not every meal outside the home needs to be a social event! Concept is simple. Take an order form from the little counter on the left side when you enter. Fill out how many of each item you want. Give your order form to the cashier when it's your turn and pay. It's not a huge selection, but has the staples and favorites. I found pricing to be very reasonable, especially compared to what I've paid in Dublin and Castro Valley. I wasn't sure what "fried mochi with pork" was but was so glad I ordered it because it turns out it's one of my favorites that I've seen on other menus as "fried stuffed pork dumpling". The mochi part threw me off. And it was delicious! Everything else I had was also very good-- siu mai, har gow, baked bbq pork bun, potstickers, egg tart, milk custard bun, fried sesame ball w/red bean. I also got the fried wontons, which were my least favorite item. They weren't bad, just not as flavorful as the other items. There's no seating and no restrooms here. It's takeaway only and they clearly specialize in the menu items they offer. I'd come back for these classic dim sum items!

I'm so sad I didn't come sooner! But maybe that's a good thing because I could honestly eat dim sum every day if it was possible. Since it was my first time, I didn't know you need to fill out the paper and hand it in to get your items, so I was standing around for a little before I finally asked another customer how it worked. I got the - *Shrimp & chive dumpling ($5): My favorite! They had the perfect soft texture and a good amount of filling. *BBQ pork bun ($1.95): A nice soft bun but not a lot of filling. Still tasted good for how much was in it. *Potstickers ($2.85): I enjoyed these so much I should have ordered two! Flavorful filling mixture with a thick wrapper. *Fried mochi w/ pork ($1.75): Not a fan at all. Felt like some pork was stuffed into a funnel cake ball. *Sesame ball ($1.45): Perfect crunchy texture and a good portion of bean filling. Safe for my son's allergies. *Plain steamed bun ($1.25): Got this for my son since he can't have much with a garlic and onion allergy. He was so excited because it's the best part of the BBQ pork buns according to him! I wanted to try the cabbage and pork bun but they were out, so I'll definitely get that next time if they have them.

Came here after cherry picking nearby to pick up some dimsum and all of their dishes are great! It's a causal, takeout only spot and there's not a lot of seating options outside either, so plan accordingly! ~the food~ - Cabbage and pork bun ($1.95): their buns are so good! The bun part is slightly sweet and very fluffy! Their cabbage and pork filling is also very flavorful and delicious! - Quail Egg Siu Mai ($4): This is our favorite dumpling from here! The quail egg pairs really well with the siumai which is flavored so well! - Pan seared turnip cake ($1.85): very good! was still a bit crispy on the outside, and the inside was nice and chewy! - Lotus leaf wrapped sticky rice ($4.50): One order comes with one giant sticky rice! Has a lot of different meats inside and the sticky rice is very sticky! Super filling so I recommend sharing this one! Everything that we've ordered from here has been delicious! I also really like their chili oil, so I highly recommend trying as they offer a few different sauces when checking out! We ended up buying 2 jars of their chili oil, which I really enjoy using for chili oil noodles at home! ~Parking~ Lots of parking as it's located in a pretty big shopping plaza! ~overall~ The food from dimsum basket is delicious, service is fast and clean, and pricing is very reasonable imo! While it's not a sit-down type of restaurant, I think their food is delicious and definitely worth a try!

We just moved to Oakley and we were looking for a Dimsum place and we found one in Brentwood. It's not a sit-down restaurant. Once you come in, you have to fill up a form and check on the items you want to order Once done, hand over the form and they will get your order ready. There are a few people in front of us but the wait was not that long. We had their siomai, baked BBQ pork bun, pot sticker, shrimp dumpling, and fried shrimp ball. All of the items are very good and delicious. The price is also reasonable. If you're craving dim sum, I highly recommend the Dim Sum basket

Fast, easy, and yummy! There's no dine in, but the process is like dine in - you fill in your order on the menu/order slip, and they pack it for you in line and ring you up at the register. Everything we got was delicious, but I especially liked the giant chicken bun (which had water chestnuts inside!!), shrimp hargow, and matcha lava bun! Their chili oil is also super yum! Would definitely go back!

Salty egg bun a must try!

This review is long overdue! This little dim sum spot might look simple from the outside, but the food is seriously impressive. I'm usually not a fan of lotus leaf wraps -- but this place completely changed that. The flavor, texture, everything about it was perfect! I tried it for the first time and even bought one for my husband... too bad I only got one because we both loved it! The salted egg bun is also a must-try -- sweet, creamy, and just the right amount of indulgent. Honestly, almost everything we've tried here has been really good. A small place with big flavors and friendly service. Definitely one of those hidden gems that deserves more attention!

I'm of course always craving for dim sum! It's just a Greta feeling I get when I eat food mixed with culture. I had my husband pick up our order because I've been sick this past week. I still ordered: Food: Mochi with Meat SuiMai with pork SuiMai with Pork and quail egg Eggrolls Baked BBQ Pork Bun Steamed BBQ Pork Bun Har Gow (Steamed Shrimp Dumplings) Potstickers Oh, My favorite is the Mochi With Meat.. the exterior texture is not too thick and not oily like some places and I consider this probably their best menu item!! Great size on the items. Service: Super Friendly I ordered on the phone and they were very friendly and on point with all my items I received when my husband picked up our food. Ambience: I know this place has no seating area and is mainly a pickup food service brick and mortar. But it's located in a great area right beside Safeway. Super convenient to go grocery shopping and order my dim sum right after. They are fast and efficient. You just need to mark down the items you would like to order on the sheet, hand it over to them, pay and wait for your order. It's a great turn around and not too long of a wait either. My brother and sister always orders from here. This was my first time ordering but I've been inside before to check them out. They are very friendly and love that we have a traditional dim sum place to order and eat at home. I will be back. I would probably give them a 5 if they made the Daikon cake available everyday and not just the weekend , if they have beef tripe, shrimp rice noodle, and deep fried shrimp with mayo available on their menu. Overall pretty good.

Ordered a whole bunch of items and it only came out to just above $30!! So much bang for buck!! And every item was delicious!!! There are no seating so keep that in mind!

    Potstickers and Shumai
    Chris P.

Good service and the food was very good. I was a little surprised it is a pickup only restaurant, as in there is no seating whatsoever. The menu is easy to understand and you mark the items /quantities you want before handing to the cashier. My favorite was the pork potstickers, but the shumai was also great. Both are huge. The fried rolls were a little greasy for me. The steamed pork buns were very nice. My daughter enjoyed her boxed peach tea and there are lots of other drink options. We will be back.

Cute, clean, & modern, small dim sum shop where it's all to-go. As soon as you walk in, there's a station to write down your order, then you give your order to one of the employees. I appreciate that the order form states if there's nuts and/or shellfish in each item. Super helpful & thoughtful to consider those with food allergies. I am allergic to shellfish, so majority of the menu I couldn't try, but I still walked out with a bunch of items to try. Overall, if you're a dim sum connoisseur, this place will not scratch your itch, but if you're in a pinch, some of the items are worth a try. 10/10 - Hotdog Bun: this bun was super yummy; the smoky hotdog complimented the perfectly baked bun. 9/10 - Pineapple Bun: topping was very flaky & bun was super tasty; there's no filling inside their pineapple bun. 8/10 - Potsticker: adding their chili sauce makes the potsticker taste even better; pork & cabbage filling tasted better in the potsticker than bun. 7/10 - Sui Mai & Quail Egg Sui Mai: I love the added quail egg on the sui mai; overall these were good. 5/10 - Baked BBQ Pork Bun & Steam BBQ Pork Bun: very traditional buns, but the filling was sweeter than most which was a bit overpowering; the baked bun had a better meat to bun ratio, as the steamed bun needed way more filling. 5/10 - XXL Chicken Combo Bun: meat to bun ratio was really off, as there was too much bun & not even meat filling; bun was very airy, fluffy, & tasted great, but it was way too much; chicken filling was just okay as the shiitake mushrooms overpowered the chicken. 5/10 - Milk Custard Bun: overall bun was good & just enough sweetness, but nothing special. 5/10 - Chocolate Ganache Bun: the ganache is semisweet chocolate which was a nice surprise; overall bun was okay. 3/10 - Taro Lava Bun: again too much bun to filling ratio; filling was okay, slightly crumbly & dry. 3/10 - Egg Tart: crust was very light & super flaky, but the custard was heavy on the egg flavor & it was not very sweet. 3/10 - Fried Eggroll: good amount of veggies & glass noodles; flavor was sweet which was a bit odd for being a savory item. 3/10 - Cabbage & Pork Bun: the filling lacked flavor as it was very bland & there was more cabbage than pork. 1/10 - Curry Chicken Puff Pastry: this was inedible because it was way too salty & extremely sour flavor; the pastry was very flaky.

Reasonably price. Honestly, the pork belly is the star and could be the best I've had in a long time considering I still live and grew up in Oakland. At other chinese bbq spots the skin to me is usually very crunchy and chewy. But Roast Eatery pork belly skin is so light and crispy, that after a few bites the tender meat and fat slowly melts in your mouth making it very enjoyable. The sweet sauce with the pork belly is new to me. it's interesting but i prefer eating it with the ginger scallion because it helps cut the richness from the pork belly. The Haianese Chicken is exceptional. Cooked perfectly to tendernism. Anyone new to chinese bbq and wondering why the chopped chicken bone is still red or pink, that's called myoglobin so don't worry it's already cooked and means that it's perfectly gently poached. Of course, always take caution, ask questions and do a little research. If you're afraid, just eat around it, but this will probably be the best and healthiest way to eat chicken if you're on a diet. Roast Duck was flavorful, tender and nicely roasted. Definitely your go to local spot if you're in the East County (Oakley, Brentwood, or Antioch). It's also on par with local favorite spots in Oakland Chinatown like Gold Medal. Service is very straight forward and quick to order. The staff are friendly. Got our order in less than 10 minutes. Overall, I will be coming here more frequently for my chinese bbq fix and quick healthy lunch. They also own the dim sum bakery next door and it's definitely a hit too!

I also enjoyed the ginger sauce it came with. I thought this paired better than the black sweet sauce they provide. Typically I like my pork belly thoroughly cooked but this is a different style and I still enjoyed it. It's worth $15! I want to come back to try their duck next!
