Finally got to stop by today and so glad I did! Same set up like their sister store, clean and straight forward. Just ordered the bbq pork to try and was very happy. Portion was good for the price and so good! Service was fast and efficient. Always appreciate that. I'm Chinese American (born & raised in SF) & have purchased & eaten a lot of Chinese BBQ in my time on earth. Roast Eatery has been open just a week & I just heard about it today. Got there about noon & waited just 5 mins & spent $70 for a whole roast duck & 2 orders (about 2#) of BBQ pork. Cost is a about (maybe a lirtle less than) what you'd have to pay at 99 Ranch but now we in Brentwood don't have drive all the way to Concord or Pleasanton to get Chinese BBQ. Already ate some of the the BBQ pork. Bought it whole & just sliced a few pieces off to eat with some Maruchen ramen for lunch. It tasted great! They flavor it on the sweet side but I like it that way. Pieces are cut into thinner strips than I'm use to but that's fine. Pieces that I got were a little fatty -- didn't ask for lean -- but that's fine too. It looks, smells & tastes great! Bought it whole. Cut up & ate some of the duck for dinner& it's as good as any roast duck I've had anywhere else. A great addition to the Brentwood food scene. I hope that the local Chinese restaurants start buying their roast duck & BBQ from here wholesale instead of selling the mediocre stuff they serve. I csn nake my own Soy Sauce Chicken & Wings but I looking forward to when they start serving Crispy Roast Pork (Sieu Yook) which is as hard & time consuming to make as roast duck & BBQ pork. We ordered several of the most popular items (soy sauce chicken, roast duck), and were horrified - food was lukewarm, sliced with bones and cartilage included (careful what you bite into!). Growing up in the BayArea and living close to SF in the past, every time we craved roast duck, we would go to Clement St, and get it from there. This place is just as good as some of the popular ones in the city. For those who said it's not cooked thoroughly, or looks raw, it's not!!! That is how it's braised and cooked. Disappointed with the BBQ Pork this time. I usually enjoy the two-item rice combo plate here, but my most recent visit was a letdown. The BBQ pork looked undercooked and had a strange texture--chewy with a lot of fat. While it was pretty sweet, it lacked depth of flavor and unfortunately didn't sit well with my stomach afterward. It's also hard to see what's being sliced since it's done out of sight in the back, which doesn't inspire much confidence. This might have just been a bad batch, but I'll be skipping the BBQ pork next time. read more

I had heard about them and just happened by after doing errands. Got there just before they opened and there were quite a few people on their 2nd or 3rd visit. Got 1/2 duck and some ribs. Very flavorful and great job on the cook of the meats. Next time might get rice plates because it was a lot of food for my son and me.
