My wife, my son and I had an absolute wonderful experience at this specific Roasters N Toasters location last Sunday, March 17/2024 - St. Patrick's Day. Firstly, the food (as always) was exceptional. We went for breakfast (but their entire menu is served to perfection) and all food and drink items ordered were just perfect including omelettes, over medium eggs, corned beef hash, breakfast potatoes, bagels and cream cheese, coffee and natural blueberry lemonade. Our waitress was the best and the General Manager, Obi Ruiz, who when passing by our table all dressed up for St. Patrick's Day done right was friendly, funny, highly pleasant and just made the experience even better. Went for breakfast with the family. The restaurant is also functioning at half capacity so we had to wait in line. There were 2 lines... 1 for to go and 1 to eat in. We waited in line about 15 minutes and were taken inside. There were designated seating and not seating tables inside. The staff did not wear gloves but were all wearing masks. Remember the other line I mentioned outside for the to go... you can't imagine how many to go orders were orders were piled up. People coming in and out through a separate entrance the entire time we were there. The coffee was a bit strong for my taste but I asked for water and watered it down. The food was fresh, on point and were served quickly. My built your own pastrami bacon omelet was deliciously cooked and the portion was huge! Great job to the staff for an amazing breakfast. Finishing breakfast here means you're definitely skipping the next meal, or at least you should. Eggs and omelette here are wonderfully fluffy, French toast is made with thick challah bread, applewood bacon is crisp and fragrant, sandwiches are staaaaaaaaacked with meats. On weekends, they'll also have special entrees. My friend and I shared their S'mores French Toast and if you enjoy Nutella, you'll be more than satisfied. Im pretty sure they just dump a small vat of Nutella onto the plate. French Toast is crusted with graham crackers and glued together by Nutella and melted marshmallows. I also have to rave about the corned beef and pastrami combo reuben. A jaw breaking stack of meat, with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Russian sauce between two slices of toasted rye. Meat breaks off so pleasantly in each bite. They also serve to your table with your breakfast a bowl of kosher pickles and Cole slaw complimentary. I'm a huge fan of slaw and this is hands down the best I've ever had. You can taste how fresh the cabbage is, because they still have that refreshing crisp when you bite down. Great Greek salad! Huge, could not finish it. Very casual spot but reliable. Breakfast is always a hit.

I know this place is an institution, and they do a lot of things really well. But, the bagels have really gone down in quality. I see pictures from 2 years ago where the bagels are covered in toppings, but no more. The everything bagels I got last had very little toppings on them, like enough to count, but I didn't. The sesame bagel however, which I thought was plain at first, I did count; literally 6 sesame seeds clinging to the top. And the center holes were enormous. Maybe there's a new guy or something, but for the price and reputation these should be the best bagels around. read more

I've been to one of their other locations a long time ago, but stopped here before a client meeting. I didn't have much time so I was a little worried that this was a bad choice. I was immediately seated, given a menu and a water was brought to me. Off to a great start! The inside is like any other New York diner with its bagel area, smear inside the glass casing. The menu on the board above and some specials written on the side. My order was taken, I ordered their skillet with sausage. The skillet comes with two eggs any style, toast, and potatoes. I thought the price of $14.95 was pretty steep overall being that it was basically a Denny's Grand Slam breakfast which is what around $6? That being said the food overall was good. the eggs were cooked to my liking, the sausage was flavorful, the potatoes were full of onions and spices- which was good, but not my stye. A little too robust for me but I'm sure overall people would love how they were cooked. The rye toast was a little on the stale side but I covered it in jelly so we're all good. Overall a good little diner to stop by for a bite. I'm sure their lunch is amazing. Again, a little pricey. Decent service, but overall good food. read more

This review is not directed at the food and service was very good until I received the bill. Beware of the bait and switch! I ordered the Nova platter at the 96th Street location for $22.99. I was asked if I wanted the Acme Nova and my response was I just want the regular nova not the acme. I'll never know what nova I was given but when the bill came there was an up charge to $25.99. The server said the regular nova is the acme. That's not what the menu says!!! The manager came over and again argued with us that the regular is the acme. I ask you then why does the menu give a $22.99 price for nova and then you can opt to substitute nova with the name of acme?! Rating: 3.5 03/07/2020 After an early 5K race, we were hungry for breakfast! We ended up in the Dadeland area near my favorite French bakery. But I wasn't hungry for croissant. We ended up here because we always see a lot of people waiting outside. That's usually a good sign. This strip mall is popular with all the nice dining selections. But parking is so scarce that I usually avoid the areas during peak hours. RESTAURANT: Luckily we didn't have to wait long but the house was packed! It's very reminiscent of the Metro Diner but not as big. It's more like a deli. And rightfully so, because on a huge wall is their name that pays homage to their hometown of New York. Upon entering, is a counter with a glass display of breads, bagels, cookies and other treats. Behind it are several chef prepping food. There are booths and tables joined together so you are sat a seat away from other people. It did feel bit cramped. The restaurant have classic ceiling fans and light fixtures hanging from the ceiling decorated with wooden, square crown moldings. The wood theme flowed throughout the restaurant from the wood paneling on the walls and dividers. There are posters about bagels and mice chalkboard looking panel over the counter with a collage of all the names of their delicious menu items. And there are also TVs. The menu had a wide selection for breakfast and lunch. I wish it had photos. SERVICE: The place was bustling! There were lots of servers and bussers working and maneuvering around the restaurant. Our server was a sweet older lady. She seemed in a rush and since it's our first visit, we had no idea on what to order so every time she came to take our order, we were not ready. Unfortunately, she was not very helpful...I couldn't understand her and I don't think she heard me because later she brought me a side plate of tomatoes. Lol. But the bussers are all so very nice and they were very accommodating when my son asked for crayons and they saw I needed more coffee. FOOD: Again, with the situation with our server, I had to rely on the photos on yelp. I was not in the mood for bagels or sandwiches. So I ordered the omelette that has everything on it called the Kitchen Sink! It was huge! It comes with two sides and chose grits and toast. I also said I didn't want their house potatoes. Somehow she heard something else and brought sliced tomatoes as well. The omelette was delicious and huge enough that I was able to eat half for lunch later. My son ordered a chicken patty and egg sandwich without anything cheese or any thing he was happy with that. And the plates and of salads and lox and sandwiches from the neighboring tables Overall, this visit was a little underwhelming. I don't know maybe I had high expectations. I wanted very much to try everything but despite the food being delicious, it just didn't feel...comfortable. The price point is definitely not like your ordinary breakfast joint. Okay, I'll be honest. At first I wasn't too sure of this place and our waiter intimidated me a little bit. My bf and I both decided to get omelettes and Ivan, our waiter, recommended we did the "kitchen sink" which was ordering more than 4 things to include in the omelette and it would be the same price. We both got like 8 different things and he didn't write anything down... after we were both done I asked him did you get all of that? He was like "now you ask? Idk let's see when your food comes" and I walked away.... my bf and i looked at each other like okay then... When the food arrived absolutely everything was spot inn we were so impressed & warmed up to him. He checked on us every couple of minutes making sure we had what we needed and everything was quite tasty! FYI: omelettes are ginormous, split them with someone else!!!! 7/22/23 Brisket was good but still not as gourmet as was under previous owner. I had ordered a large size (Deli size) brisket sandwich. They brought me the basic sandwich. I ordered online off the website (from the South Pinecrest (Falls) location) because I keep hearing how food delivery services are unfair to the restaurant and charge them exorbitant fees. In other words, I was trying to help Roasters and Toasters. When my food arrived, I was missing two items (out of 10). I tried going online to tell them. There was no place on the website for me to even let them know about this issue. I tried calling. They didn't answer the phone. I left a message. They did not return the call. It has been three weeks. I have left at least three messages at both Pinecrest locations. I have sent emails. No response. No return call. Nothing. It isn't about the money. It's the principle of it. This is awful customer service, and I've been a customer of all of their locations for literal decades. At least with the food delivery services, if an item is missing, they provide an immediate refund. Roasters and Toasters has lost my business. I cannot believe they did not even afford me the courtesy of returning my many calls or responding to my emails. Update: Obi from the Pinecrest location called me today. He promised a 25% refund on my credit card and a free meal the next time I went to the store. He was very nice. But the Falls location has yet to call me, or write, or otherwise respond ..... read more
