The intake form made it sound like these were just part of our regular covered visit, but they weren't. Throughout our appointments, there was constant upselling of additional products and services, which made for an uncomfortable experience. Nobody mentioned the extra costs until AFTER all four appointments were completed (3+ hours later). When I questioned the bill, they refused to reduce it or work with us. I asked to review charges with my insurance before paying, but they submitted the bill to insurance that same day anyway. ADVICE: Before your exam, explicitly ask about ALL potential non-covered charges. Cost info is buried deep in their paperwork. Find a more transparent practice that respects informed consent and clearly discloses all fees upfront.

Dr. Fenton is very good, very smart, and I trust him with my eyes. Bedside manner isn't perfect but good, and its his ability to diagnose and treat that matters. I found the techs good and the overall experience to be trustworthy. Bottom line, Dr. Fenton is amazing for vitreous and retina. The office and eyeglass area is fine, nothing really upsetting or anything. But I haven't used the place for eye glasses.

You don't need to go here, and probably shouldn't. For whatever reason you are considering the…read moreWheaton Eye Clinic, you can find a better practice to patronize. I developed a chalazion in the corner of my eye. The bump I have is not the nightmare you'll see if you do a Google search. In fact, most people tell me that they didn't notice it until I pointed it out. However, I am very familiar with my own face and noticed it right away. I went to my normal doctor to get it checked. She referred me to the Wheaton Eye Clinic. I went to schedule an appointment. If you are familiar with real estate prices in the western suburbs of Chicago, then you know which towns have expensive homes in their borders. The fact that Wheaton Eye Clinic has their locations in those towns is no accident. The leases or properties that the Clinic occupies must be correspondingly expensive. Based the recommendation of the Clinic, I made an appointment to see Dr. John Pak, who specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery around the eyes. On the day of my appointment, I spent about 20 minutes completing paperwork and answering questions with a nurse-sort of person who wore scrubs. Then I met with Dr. Pak for ten minutes. He looked at the bump at the corner of my eye and told me it was caused by a clogged gland. I asked how to get rid of it. He explained that it's not dangerous or harmful, and that the only way to remove it was through surgery - which he did not recommend. He said that if we lanced and drained the bump, it would just return. Since there was no medical necessity to remove it, the surgery would be elective and not covered by insurance. He asked me if there was anything else - there wasn't - and he left the examining room. I walked up to the reception desk and asked if there was a co-pay or anything else for me to do. They said no and wished me a good day. Thirty days later, I received the bill - $186.97. I crapped my pants. That was more than twice as much as I get charged for a full blood workup when I see my medical doctor to get my cholesterol checked! But the most shocking part was the time/cost ratio. I don't think Dr. Pak charges by the minute, but if he does, an hour long visit would run over $1100. I called Wheaton Eye Clinic and asked about the charge. I explained that my insurance was not going to cover any of the costs. I asked whether the cost of the visit could be reduced since I received no treatment, no resolution of the issue and only had a 10 minute conversation with Dr. Pak. The billing representative put me on hold to go ask. When she came back, she informed me that the answer was no. This is what Dr. Pak charges. I asked my optometrist (NOT an eye doctor - no medical school...) about the bump when I had my annual eye exam a month or so later. He said, immediately, that it is a chalazion and was nothing to worry about. I said, if I did not have this appointment to update my prescription, how much would he charge me to diagnose the bump. He laughed and said he wouldn't charge anyone for that. He said that if it was in a worse location, or had a bad look to it, he would refer me to another doctor. But for what I had going on, charging me would be wrong. There are a number of possible explanations for why Dr. Pak and the Wheaton Eye Clinic charges $187 per 10 minutes to diagnose a harmless bump. One reason is that Dr. Pak is an arrogant professional who feels that he has earned the right to charge this fee after his investment in medical school. Another reason is that their real estate is expensive. The patients need to cover those costs, right? A third reason is that the Wheaton Eye Clinic is a status-driven practice. If you want to be able to say that you went there, you'll need to pay up. A Honda will carry your groceries home, but Mercedes does it with more status. Whatever floats your boat. At the end of the day, you're going pay more for services at Wheaton Eye Clinic. If you're doing it because you can - good for you. If you're not a wealthy, entitled person, then you don't need to go to the Wheaton Eye Clinic. They don't care about you - they care about money, status and reputation. They got my money. Now I 'm trying to help them with their status and reputation.

Disclaimer: I've only interacted with the staff. I did not purchase anything or get an eye exam…read more I stopped by one afternoon hoping to ask a few questions and browse their selection. Unfortunately, the experience matched what several other negative reviews had mentioned about the staff's attitude. There were three employees working at the time, and not one greeted me, offered help, or even acknowledged me in a friendly way. Instead, I was met with stares and an overall vibe that I was inconveniencing them just by being there. I genuinely wanted to schedule an eye exam and pick out a new pair of glasses since this location is so close to me, but after less than two minutes, I felt uncomfortable enough to walk right back out. It's disappointing, especially knowing others have experienced the same unwelcoming behavior. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously, because the convenience of the location can't make up for how poorly customers are treated.

We showed up on time to the appointment, maybe a few minutes early even. After checking in at the desk, the receptionist handed me a clipboard with a few pages of paperwork to fill out. This is all seemed standard and there was no one else in the waiting area. They have a few toys in the corner of the office, so the kids were busy playing while I tried to fill out the forms. Then this woman descends from the back all huffy and puffy and literally starts yelling at me for not having the forms completed. I was in shock, as she came in aggressive immediately and didn't even introduce herself. I told her I was working as quickly as I could, but I'd be happy to bring the forms back with me to complete if they need to start the exam now. I'm super calm. She yells AGAIN. "We can't do that, you better hurry or we won't be seeing you today. We're already SO behind and the doctor doesn't have time to wait on YOU." My hand literally starts shaking trying to finish up the paperwork and my son starts crying because the vibes are off. I feel like I can't even console him, because I'm rushing and my hand is still shaking. I finish the paperwork and check the time on my phone - it was 6 minutes past the appointment time, and again, there's not even another person in the waiting area. No one at the office told me to arrive extra early for paperwork before the exam time. The assistant brings us back to a cramped room and again is incredibly rude and snappy, demanding I sit down and my daughter sit on my lap. I explain that will be hard with my son who is now hysterical from her disrespectful tone. I ask if perhaps they have a booster, which seems like a normal request for an office that sees children and has toys in the waiting room. She then gets mad at ME for my daughter not being able to see well through the machine while on my lap (while I'm also trying to juggle my son on my other leg). Again, she gets all huffy "WELL THIS ISN'T GOING TO WORK!" After she left, the doctor came in to the exam room and was calm, patient and accommodating. He made my daughter feel safe and comfortable, but I was fighting through tears the rest of the exam in disbelief at the disrespect I had encountered from his assistant from the moment I walked in the door. I would never go back to this establishment with a child.

When I told Drkuhar about it he said we would just need to return my old prescription and they would order me the new prescription I don't see why they would make me pay twice or not put in more effort to fix the problem they caused if the first Dr would've just took his time and listen but since they already took my money the last time they probably don't care to help me actually see. Don't think I would recommend this place to friends and family
