They also explained how to properly care for and carry the board, which was incredibly helpful as beginners. This Jack's is split into two almost separate spots, with women's being on one side and men's being on the other. This one definitely had a smaller selection of Rainbow flipflops than what I was used to at the other Jack's location. Which was totally fine. My sister wanted a pair so it was very limited of which ones they had. Thus, I found some for her, but yeah, that was a bit disappointing. BUT I did get a really cute sweatshirt for half off. They always have good deals for sure! It was only $25 for it. We also got baby boy a t-shirt he will have to grow into haha. But of course he needed one! We came back the next day to get my husband something, too. He wanted a t-shirt, too. We also got a towel for $5 since we spent over $100 which was pretty cool. Definitely will be bringing that to the beach next year. The girl that checked us out was nice, but I didn't really see any other staff walking around to help people out even though it was pretty busy.

Huntington Surf and Sport has all sorts of apparel from brands like Hurley, O'Neill, Vans, Quiksilver, Billabong and Volcom. You can also rent a board for the day if you don't have your own. In front of the shop is the Surfer's Hall of Fame and a statue of surfing legend Duke Kahanamoku. The Surfer's Hall of Fame had its first inductees in 1997 and honors legends of the sport with handprints and footprints on the sidewalk. Huntington Surf and Sport will sometimes set up canopies outside to sell marked-down merchandise.

Surfing has shaped a culture around the world, and there is a strong case that Newport is the epicenter and genesis of that culture. (The Echo Beach) And Russell Surfboards is one of the pillars (along with the Froghouse) in surfing culture. I just can't recommend supporting this shop enough. When you go inside, you instantly realize this is a surf shop. They survived all this time by selling surfboards, not clothing like Jacks. When clothing brands like Billabong, Quiksilver, etc started renting out "surf shops," it ruined the authentic soulfulness of a surf shop. JP did such a great job caring the torch and Russell would be proud to see the way he kept the spirit of the shop alive. If you like the idea of supporting a small roots company, buy a surfboard from Russell.

We have purchased everything including fins, dresses, shirts, rash guards, sunglasses, blankets, hats, sunscreen, shorts and bathing suits. They have a few dressing rooms so you can try stuff on. Overall, this is the best place to come to get gear and very decent prices. Just bring plenty of time and patience and you should be able to find stuff you like.
